The Way Forward

[member="Moira Skaldi"] - I actually have a planet that was created and is not on the map. And yes that is a thought.

But we need a faction that has a story or a mission that appeals to everyone who wants to write. The Coalition while it has its merits also got to a point where we didn't seem to move forward anymore. But we can build a planet that meets a specific story, and need for a faction.

A technical world that appeals to the metal lords, but also offers the organics their own space.

Like hw Denon was set up...space stations above the planet, and the planet for everyone else...Metal Lords are the watchmen, and the organics are the support and diplomats.....Both can offer trade to whomever.

Part of the station could be devoted to ship buildings...

“I see [member="Marina DeVoe"] is in here causing trouble too. I expect, as much from her now”, Theo being playful finding Marina’s spunk, amusing.

“Maybe we should become a resistance cell ourselves? We can covertly sneak into enemy camps and set off bombs? Maybe assassinate a few of their leaders”, inside Theo was chuckling. The only person in this room most likely to know would be his sister [member="Faith Organa"]

Gah...at work at the moment.
Will edit this with some insights in a few...

EDIT: OOC
While I plug for fortifying defenses and commissioning of battleships for possible offensive strikes, this is not what IC Marina wants to see.
Rather, it's what her father and brother are aiming for. Marina will work around them.
But Duke Kyle DeVoe and Jerrid will be wanting to strengthen Alderaan in all fronts.

So while they are busying themselves building up armaments, I will remain portraying Marina as a pacifist. Just to be clear.
:)

Sorry, just got busy today. Not too much time to elaborate.

Hmm, interesting thought guess that work in keep the same Organa theme eh?

And for the second course.... the DV SI-9 interceptors.
After all, we need to take out enemy fighters before they get in range..no?

And to piss off our enemies even further, we hammer their advancing SD with a few of these DV ST-X strike/bombers designed to give them a pounding headache.

:)

So from what I've been able to gather. At least for now, we are going to keep on doing little things. Let Chaos know we're not gone, but not yet moving to go major again. If I'm wrong with this, let me know.

Whatever we decide, I am all for since you guys are what make the faction and not just one person.

The way I see it, be it major or minor, we should still concentrate on our stories and character developments. Being minor can be a good thing, if one really doesn't like the map game.
From what I understand, the map gamers can take over a hex our planet is in, but really can they take the entire Hex as far as star systems go? A Hex in actuality can contain millions of star systems, as the galaxy contains Billions of stars.

So a major faction can dominate a hex, but they can't just simply dominate a system players are using as their planet without those player's permission.
So until we amass more hardware and writers, we simply can refuse invasions of our home worlds...right?

If so, then when we are good and ready to join the map game, if we choose to, then we will....no?

Well, if you look at the map, Alderaan has already been dominioned by the GA. This was done at the request of Faith. I am unsure of what deals were or weren't made with the GA concerning if we decided to go major again.

Now me, as a writer, I am 100% behind minor factions and like them far more than major (honestly). They have the ability to focus more on character development and story and don't have the stress or worry of staying on the map. That being said, if we decide to go major or have an opportunity to do so, I would love the chance to play the "map game".

The two dominions I put forward in the time I was FA and then FO, both had focus on IC development and not a simple collection of another hex.

When you mention a faction holding a hex that might contain many systems, you're right and wrong at the same time. If X faction says they are going to invade Alderaan for whatever reason, we can NOT say no. A major faction that does a dominion on a location held by a minor has within their ability on Chaos to essentially handwave anything that minor has done. Most don't do that though unless that minor has been inactive and doesn't look to be coming back. (I think)

If I am mistaken, please correct me.

I did ask GA to dominion so that Alderaan could keep any military holdings we had and not lose them.

Under GA Alderaan governs itself just like before, they don't dictate stories, but they do ask that we help with dominion.

BUT again as I pointed out in other posts as a group we can go major again. I suggested a rebrand, a new planet, and an established story to building into with characters. The story could include expansion with purpose.

Thank you for those links, [member="Moira Skaldi"] .

Wow, I am kind of surprised by GA considering going minor, as I thought they had enough activity.
I'm understand more and more this map game thing and don't like the fact that what many have worked for (as far as ships and dominions) are simply washed over. I've always been for character development throughout my years on many boards. But that is me. I'm playing the map game in other alts here, but only enter dominions that I see potential in making a good story out of it.

Anyway, whatever this faction does, I will remain.... and play my part the best I can. :)

(sorry short answer as I'm called to a safety meeting this morning)

The way going forward?

Do we have a story we all can get behind yet? No we don’t. Here is my proposal.

We’re not a Coalition of planets anymore joined together into a democracy that lets us individually run are respective planetary governments. We’ve taken a major blow. Our influence has been greatly weakened. Our influence is not gone though.

My suggestion is this. We use what influence we have left, be it credits or social influence. We act much like Mon Mothma and Bail Organa. No we don’t start a Rebel Alliance. There are many currently on the board. My suggestion is we use our influence to give them support covertly or openly. We fund them. We give them moral encouragement. If they need a place to hide we help them. If we need to we pick up a blaster and help them, then so be it!

FWC needs a story to get behind. This could be it. The Light has been waning. Large factions that have supported the light have begun to fall. The Darkness had not been waning. It has been growing.

Would you let the spark die that should bring us hope?
Or will you make a stand and remember Alderaan!

Just an idea:

If we are collectively going to help/aid a light side faction in a dominion or invasion then we should do it collectively. In order to have some sort of good impact on the thread the more participants the better.
My suggestion is to bring up and list viable dominion/invasion threads here (of light side factions we can help) and we then can discuss or vote on which we can/will participate in collectively.
I know there will be more than one or more such threads going on at the same time, and not all threads will suit every writer. Again, no one is obligated to join what our majority decides to hit and help in, but a list and discussion could pair a few of us up to help a light side faction dominion/invasion thread, and help it along.
