First Reply The Wicked Rule The Wicked

Having stopped the flow of the toxin into the water supply, and with the cannister in his hands, he headed back to the lift. Nearest he could tell, there wasn't anyone else about. Whoever had done this had done it, left it, and probably wasn't coming back. At least, not coming back to the underground. It was entirely possible the person responsible was, at that very moment, in the same room as Katarine. A clever person, the type that could create illusions that remained even after they were gone, could easily hide among the common folk.

He rode the lift up, going past the main level and ascending to the third floor where she was. Stepping off the lift, he found himself soon looking in on a room full of, well, normal looking people.

"Curious," he said as he stepped into the room and showed the cannister to Katarine. "Whoever did this hid the dispenser inside of a Force Illusion that remained even though they did not."

Quickly surveying the room, he took note of everyone present and committed their faces to memory.

"Unwilling participants in the plot, I assume?"

"Unwilling participants in the plot, I assume?"

Katarine raises her eyebrow at him and almost smiled. Something about the way he said that was funny, though of course now was not the time to be laughing.

“Yes. These three are scientists who designed the chemical container you found.”

Something else he said nerved her and she studied those around them. Force illusions were never fun to go up against. It was like fighting in a funhouse mirror room.

Her deep green eyes traveled around the room, studying the faces and wondering if they could be sure what they were seeing was real.

“We have to get out of here!” The blue skinned female shrieked and started towards the door.

“Wait! It could be dangerous!” Katarine reached out and grabbed the woman’s arm and suddenly a wave of dizziness erupted over her. Kat released the woman and stumbled backwards, then hit her knees, holding her head. There was only one thing that triggered the mutation in her blood and made her so weak and dizzy, the darkside, and judging by the instant effect this was a master.

“It’s her!”

She gasped, as the room started spinning.

Well, that hadn't been what he was expecting, but it meant someone was behind this, and that someone was capable of manipulating people. He surveyed the three again, but nothing stood out about them. They looked like average people. Looks could always be deceiving, though. So could feelings, for that matter. Only reading someone's mind could really reveal who they were. Or, maybe, there was something he didn't know that she could point out, as evidenced by what quickly happened.

Before the woman could escape, he used the Force to shut the door, and then blasted her up against the nearby wall, holding her in stasis. She struggled to resist him, but something about the way she did was off. There was darkness about her, and the way she looked at him now belied a desire to kill him, but it wasn't what he would expect.

"No," he said, stepping over to Katarine Ryiah Katarine Ryiah to catch her before she fell. "She's a willing participant, one heavily steeped in the darkside, but not in a way I've ever seen. Her own skill is minimal, but given your reaction-"

He quickly looked out the window, just in time to see a figure leap from a nearby building and disappear from sight. All he saw was black.

"Damn. A shadow. He used a shadow. That's what you felt."

Katarine groaned and tried to struggle away from him. The darkside in him was too much, though not nearly as overpowering as what she had felt before. She struggled away, up against the furthest corner of the room, panting, and leaned against the wall.

"We need to take everyone down to the police station. The effects of the chemical should be temporary. Then we can interrogate her."

Her head was clearing now that the shadowy figure was further away. Katarine wiped cold sweat off her forehead. She didn't like to think about going up against whatever made that shadow if just its presence had that effect on her. She stood up straight, though her legs still shook and glanced around.

"The police commissioner is the one who called me here. We can take them to him. He isn't under the influence of the water"

He didn't try and stop her. He'd only wanted to keep her from falling. Now that she seemed back in control of herself, he turned his attention to the woman he'd forced against the wall. She was still angry, but she'd stopped struggling. No matter how she tried, she wasn't getting out of his control. Not without some sort of influence from the person he'd just seen escaping. Still, Katarine Ryiah Katarine Ryiah was right, they were all going to have to be taken in and thoroughly questioned about what had happened.

"Agreed," he said, letting the woman fall from the wall.

She landed on her feet and h quickly moved over to grab her arms to keep her from going anywhere. A simple double chicken wing with one of his arms would keep her from getting away from them.

"Let's take them in for questioning. I feel we have a long investigation ahead of us."
