Description:
In the early days of the Galactic Alliance, the Starfighter Corps was a small fledgling force running on old starfighter designs. They needed a way to act effectively in the sphere despite facing newer starfighters in greater numbers. In a sense, they needed a Force multiplier, in this case using the Force. A team of Force sensitive, Jedi, and Jensaarai pilots were assembled for their previous experience in snubfighter combat- be they Jedi Aces, Ring Defenders, or Defense Force- and the capability of working with illusions and mind tricks. Their goal was to appear as normal starfighters to infiltrate within the enemy lines and wreak havoc through the use of illusions to deceive the enemy at opportune times. Given the limited resources, they were also given training to serve as a fast deployment strike team if need arose.
Roth Tillian, upon enlistment, was commissioned as a First Lieutenant and put in charge of the fledgling squadron for his previous experience as a Ring Defender, Suarbi Defense Fleet, and even as leader of Rogue Squadron with the Rebel Alliance performing under similar mission parameters. They were deployed very quickly in the campaign against the Vanguard and continued to serve against them for the duration of the campaign and then against the One Sith.
During the Omega War, the Wild Knights were deployed on a reconnaissance mission against the Rogue Sith forces, where they suffered heavy casualties, which were further depleted during the battle of Castameer itself. They were redeployed against the last stand of the Vanguard forces, operating successfully in the massive battle that followed.
Being depleted nearly to destruction, recruitment for the squadron was resumed. The goal was to create a squadron of elite starfighter pilots capable of holding their own in any engagement against any foe while sowing distraction and confusion through their ranks.
