The Wolf of Fate

Lee didn’t know if he could trust her continued positivity on the matter. Her point was made and he would give the others a chance. That still didn't really fix his issue with playing good in a group, but it was a good first step in the right direction. Tense hands twisted the fabric of the beret, he did feel better, but that shame still lingered. Was this what she meant by being human?

Glancing towards the desk, where he had punched it, his eyes noticed the dip in the hardwood. The first time he met this woman and he already damaged something. It seemed Aela hadn’t noticed the damage, which was probably good for him, but he still had this urge to fix it. Lee was good at fixing things, such as furnature and other appliances. As much as he hated his time in the labor camps, they did teach him some valuable skills. Since he was still at the front of her desk, he reached out and touched the groove of where his fist dented and cracked the wood.

“I’ll fix this.” Lee’s hand lifted from the dent and helped his other hand situate the beret back onto his head. “Thank you. I will give the others a chance…” Pondering, he was curious as to what he would be doing with the Fifth Legion.

“Marshall Talith, may I ask...what will I be doing exactly in Fifth Legion, you told me already what it was about, but what are my ord--...assignments?” [member="Aela Talith"]

"Don't worry about it." She waved a hand, it was just a desk, not really a big deal.

"For now...nothing." Rather anti-climactic. "The SIS works based off of assignment rotation."

It was a system that Aela didn't really like or enjoy, but it made sense. It meant that thought there were lots of missions there were also times when you quite literally weren't allowed to do anything. The idea behind it was that everyone needed down time, everyone needed to rest. Right now it was Aela's time to rest, along with the rest of the 5th Legion. That could mean days, weeks, or perhaps even months until something else came up. She didn't mind it so much, mostly because it allowed her time to train Jamie somewhere safe rather than the usual hectic mission.

"Something will come up however, and whatever that may be...well it can depend." As was the nature of working with a spook.

"Sometimes we'll go undercover." She began. "Sometimes it will be retrieving a kidnap victim, sometimes it'll even be kidnapping someone, it can vary and depend on the needs of the mission."

Really kept one on their toes.

Disappointment showed on his face as he stared at the Jedi. He seemed to be doing a lot of staring when it came to this small but rather eventful meeting. His eyes narrowed confused and his mouth frowned, it seems there was going to be a lot of standing around when it came to this particular assignment. Though it seemed they both seemed to share the same difficulty with accepting this. A hand moved to his neck as he rubbed it uncertain of what to do now. He had made quite the scene in the woman’s office and she seemed unphased - which was a good thing.

Yet, without something to do, he looked around and found a chair that seems it was meant for people who were having a meeting with her. He sat down and pulled out his datapad and began to read the novel he was reading back on the train. Lee knew nothing else, in the military there was always something to do. It was either train for this mission or get debriefed for this mission and above all of it - you were always cleaning or something of the like.

Always something to do. Tilting his head, he wondered if with this assignment if he would be able to get through all of his libary. From the corner of his eyes he looked back at the woman at the desk. “I’m confused as what to do now. Do we just sit around and wait for things? Also what is the password to the holo wireless?”

He needed to download his books as soon as possible, who knows how long till the next mission would pop up or even if he would get assigned. “What do you do, when there’s nothing to do?” [member="Aela Talith"]

Aela rolled her shoulders slightly. It was a good question, and again, one that many members of the 5th Legion asked when they first came here. They were always used to a more strict and regulated structure, orders, training, food, more orders, that was how their lives had been built, how everything had gone for them so far. Aela knew that, couldn’t help it, but she also knew that this place was supposed to be something different.

”It depends.” Aela said with a shrug.

”There is always a little bit of training in the morning, drills and all that, but generally the Soldiers of the 5th Legion were already trained when coming here.” That training could vary, some special forces, some just regular army. ”So there’s no point in doing it all again. You have structure here, but its more loose. Mostly, you have the ability to choose how your day goes.”

She shrugged. ”At least while we’re waiting for our next mission.”

It was another one of the SIS’ tactics, making people at ease meant...well actually allowing them to be at ease. It was important, especially when half the soldiers were wound tight enough to jump into any fight presented to them.

Twisting his lips into a forced smile he nodded. He was right about the assumed standing around. How different this so called prestigious Legion was compared to the army. Lee shook his head as he thought about this and figured that's why people wanted to join. Deciding that because he was new she ignored his request for the wifi password. He would hopefully get it in some sort of welcome package or something. The man would have to be satisfied with his already downloaded library.

"Understood Ma'am" with no further questions he made himself comfortable in the chair he was sitting in. Sure this was her office and she probably had other meetings to deal with, but he had no where else to go and if he lingered - maybe she would give him the first mission they popped up. Location and convenience always worked out for him.

His eyes quickly went to work on the story he was entertaining, women always seemed to find themselves into trouble in these books. Lee admired the men that appeared to save the day, but in the current story he was reading the woman was strong and took command - admirable and soon came to be Lee's favorite heroine. For a few moments she decided not to say anything, mostly because she hardly cared whether or not he stayed here. Eventually however another meeting popped up on her schedule, a simple debrief regarding the return of an SIS operative from Bastion.

The report interested her because Jamie and She had been on Bastion several months ago. They had caused...quite a stir, and apparently since then things hadn’t gotten any better.

”Why don’t you head towards the barracks.” Aela told Lee, her voice stern, as though the suggestion wasn’t really one. ”Someone will get you situated.”

It would probably be more comfortable. ”I’ll make sure you get the first mission out.”

There were others that were technically in-line ahead of him, but it was a small bone that she could throw him so he wouldn’t be sitting around bored. Lee seemed eager, which could either be good or bad depending on how things went. Aela hoped that it was more of the former, rather than the latter.

The silence was welcomed. Aela had gained some favor points with the solider mostly because she could be silent and allow silence to happen. Most people didn't entertain that concept, they consistently had to have noise around them for them to have any validation of their existence. Lee could sit in silence for hours.

His quiet time was up though and her so called suggestion felt more like an order. Guess it was how you worded things around here. Seeing that as his queue to leave he stood and shoved the data pad into his back pocket. Placing the beret on his head, he saluted her and made his way towards the door. Stopping he looked over his shoulder and flashed her a small smile.

"Thanks" he would make his way to the barracks and await orders. [member="Aela Talith"]
