I'm so late to this party, but she did it up to make a statement. Yes, by doing so she became like that she hated, but she saw no other way to make a statement and took what she could. It happens a lot in life, actually. Evil to combat evil. You just need a change a of perspective and *boop*, you're on her side.

That said, BARIS NO! YOU CRAZY BISH! Anyway, I looked it up and Baris' time after the Clone Wars in the comics isn't actually canon, so yeah. GG.

were they the subpar old clone wars comics?

Pretty sure. I just read about them on the wiki. The only comics I've actually ever read are the Old Republic ones, and only some of them, at that.
