The Wrong Quarry

"It comes in handy now and then!" He patted the Jedi on the back and then went into a crouched position, signaling the jedi to do the same. They had to move quickly before the cameras became active again and immediately gave away their position to the occupant. Marcus did his best to silently sidle up next to the large window pane that made up a large part of the roof structure and looked in. What he saw was nothing impressive, but there was opposition. A small amount of grunts lined the catwalks of the warehouse and from what his HUD could tell, there was his target amongst a small assortment of datapads. This would be tricky indeed...

Marcus looked back to the Jedi before pulling out an assortment of grenades that were marked clearly in Aurabesh. The explosives ranged from regular fragmentation grenades, to sonic grenades which used sound to deafen opponents before the storming of buildings. These were all military grade, and a few were rare, but the kind of job required it and the reward would be much more than the credits he would expend on the capture.

"I'm throwing the sonic. That'll confuse em enough on entry... Now let me know if this sounds ambitious, but I wont be coming down."

He quickly handed off one of his blasters to the Jedi and pointed at the grappling attachment before shooting it into one of the walls of the roof with a sharp Zing!

"Once I blast the window, you're going to jump down and let 'em have it. I'll cover you."

Jyfo

A lost past, an unknown future
Jyfo felt a bit of nervousness. For all his life, he had been a terrible shot with a blaster, and now he was just handed one. Well... there's always a time to improve, I suppose. What could he use instead? Perhaps he could cut one of the catwalks down, or push them off... Something had to be better than having a Jedi go in there with a blaster. He breathed deeply. "Alright, bounty hunter, we've got one chance. Blow the window."

Jyfo shifted from foot to foot. He fought a wave of nausea. Closing his eyes, he controlled his breathing and felt the Force. He could do this. Some adventure, indeed.

Marcus nodded and readied the grenade. With a sudden flick of movement the grenade was thrown through the glass and down into the depths. Shouts could be heard from below as the grenade found it's rest on a duracrete floor, and with a sudden bang, even the glass on the roof was shattered. Marcus began plugging blaster bolts down into the abyss and shouts could be heard from below. After he had let an arc fly down into the abyss, he patted Jyfo on the shoulder.

"Remember. I got your back."

He gave a smile from beneath the helmet and let another spray of blaster fire down into the darkness to await the jedi's assault.

Jyfo

A lost past, an unknown future
This is it. Jyfo clicked off the safety of the blaster and breathed heavily, then hooked up to the grappling line and followed it down through the window into the warehouse below. Cutting his leg on some jagged glass as he passed through, he tried to gather his surroundings as quick as he could. Two enemies on the catwalk to his left. Four below. Two on his right. By the time he finished his quick scan, he landed hard on the right catwalk, right in front of a stunned Sullustan. Stretching out a hard kick, he knocked the small alien off the edge and sprinted for the second target, a Wookie. Shooting blindly at the hulking creature to phase it (missing each shot), Jyfo activated his lightsabre in his free hand and swiped horizontally across the great beast of a creature. It roared in pain and flailed an arm at Jyfo, sending him backwards and off the catwalk.

Somehow, he landed on his feet below. The enemies were starting to regain their sense after the sonic grenade, and forced Jyfo to take cover behind some industrial-sized crates. Jyfo blindly fired at them from behind cover and threw his blaster on the ground. Stupid useless weapon. Reactivating his sabre, he peeked out and barely deflected a deadly ray from a blaster, sending it back at the enemy who shot it. I'm gonna need Marcus's help soon, he thought as he was forced to seek cover once again.

Marcus laughed to himself as he noticed the Jedi's firing patterns. This was not the time to be humorous, and he doubted the Jedi was trying, but there was something humorous in how he handled the weapon so carelessly. The young Mandalorian managed to end one of the thugs rather quickly with a short burst of fire that tore into the Gamorrean's chest. Soon, he saw the Jedi was in danger, and it was all he could do to begin raining a hail of fire upon the other thugs nearest to Jarket. The blasts tore from his E-11 and soon, two more thugs were on the floor.

Marcus took his opportunity quickly and used his jetpack to descend onto the catwalk. This is where he met his first true resistance. An ill tempered Whiphid took a swing at Marcus with one of it's deadly claws and it was all he could do to fall backwards. The Whiphid was nearly about to stomp his chest when the young mandalorian managed to kick his legs out from underneath him. Marcus' heart was pounding as he tackled the thug now and used his wrist blade to end his life. After it had been dispatched, Marcus looked over the railing to see how Jyfo faired.

Jyfo

A lost past, an unknown future
Marcus had burst in on his jetpack not a moment too soon. The few stragglers left focused on him, but their aim was restricted due to the catwalk. Jyfo noted Marcus having a close call with an alien creature before he ended its life with the wrist blade. Turning his attention to a bearded thug not too far, Jyfo sprinted towards him as fast as he could, lightsabre held at the ready. The gangster saw this coming, although not quick enough to prevent the quick strikes of the sabre, severing an arm and a head. Jyfo, feeling adrenaline and the Force, suspended the recently deceased man's body in the air to block a laser blast headed his way, then heaved it with all his might at the last thug on the floor. He collapsed in a heap.

Only the injured Wookie should be left now. Jumping and grabbing onto the support of the catwalk, Jyfo gracefully flipped over the railing and landed, face to face to the beast. It recoiled from him and backed away. Apparently the chest wound was worse than it had thought. It roared at him. Caught up in the excitement of battle, Jyfo began to lunge at it to finish it off, but just barely stopped himself. The wounded beast was defenseless and clearly didn't want to fight. Jyfo shivered; had he slayed the Wookie, he would have come close to the dark side.

"Last one is here, Marcus," he called to the bounty hunter. "I think we can just search the area for your target and let this one be."

"He ran into the back room!"

Marcus called down to Jyfo in a hurried shout. He doubted that his target could get away, beings that he had just run into a broken industrial fridge and he would be trapped there. The descent was uneventful, save for the shouts of the wookie who persisted in his protests to fight before leaving the area completely. He had seen Jyfo almost finish him, and he half expected him to do it as well. There was no doubt, this was a powerful yet conflicted Jedi that he was working with, if he were a jedi at all.

Marcus quickly flew down onto the floor and moved towards the door and nodded towards the Jedi to approach. He wanted to go in and get the target, but he might as well have backup if something went wrong.

Jyfo

A lost past, an unknown future
Jyfo caught up with Marcus and nodded as they approached the door to the industrial fridge that Marcus had said the target ran into. There seemed to be no way out. Jyfo certainly didn't know of any secret exits to fridges. He took a deep breath in and looked at Marcus. "This is it. Do you want me to cut through, or do you have ordinance?" Jyfo's lightsabre stood ready, glowing its yellowish amber hue as it lit up the dim warehouse. He wore a determined look.

His journey from his childhood on Jakku to this moment flashed through his eyes. This was why he was here, to destroy the wicked and evil, to save lives. He would dispose of this child-murdering scum, if he had a weapon or not. Anger coursed through him. He would avenge all the downtrodden and the oppressed, one step at a time, starting with this one. He was ready.

"Have your fun."

It was all Marcus needed to say to indicate that the Jedi should cut it through. At the site of a lightsaber slicing through his very link to safety, the gangster would surrender, and he knew that for a fact. He stood at the ready, however, with the blaster rifle pointed just above the Jedi's arm into the room, if he put a fight, it would be over quickly.

Jyfo

A lost past, an unknown future
Jyfo nodded, and plunged the glowing blade into the door. It resisted a bit more than he thought it would, but its initial strength faded and soon he had cut half of a rectangle open. Sweating from the physical effort, Jyfo pushed hard, and completed the smoking square that would be ready to fall in with an easy kick. Holding his sabre with two hands, Jyfo braced himself for a hard kick to push in the door. One... two... three! His foot flashed out and slammed the hole wide open. Jyfo leaped in, quickly scanning the fridge for the target. There.

Except he wasn't cowering in the corner. He had a blaster pistol to a young woman's head. "I'll kill her, I swear! Not one step closer!" The criminal seemed desperate. This was his last card to play. Jyfo kept his saber steady, with a grimace on his face. "Easy, there," Jyfo said to the criminal look-a-like. "Marcus, we have to make sure she doesn't get hurt," he said to the bounty hunter without turning. "Yes, you can't hurt this innocent darling," he smiled repulsively. "You're letting me escape, or she dies on your hands."

"Right... Right I know... Look buddy, you know there is no way out..."

Marcus continued to let his voice simply distract the assailant out of shooting her outright. He needed to stall him just long enough to... There, got it. His HUD had brought up a locked reticle on the face of the man, and Marcus raised his own hands. As he raised his gauntlet, another reticle appeared on his screen which symbolized his secret weapon... Or, what it was supposed to be anyways. Once the two reticles matched, he let it fly. A small shard of metal that struck right into the eye of Jarket, who dropped his blaster nearly immediately to clutch at the wound.

As the blaster crashed to the floor Marcus looked towards Jyfo and pointed to the woman without saying a word before doing a running tackle onto the bounty. He held his arms to the ground and began to headbutt him repeatedly with his helmeted face until he was knocked unconscious.

Jyfo

A lost past, an unknown future
Jyfo watched, barely holding back, until Marcus pulled the ace up his sleeve and shot the crime lord in the eye. A beautiful shot, if Jyfo had ever seen one, and it just went to show how many tricks bounty hunters have. Receiving the signal from Marcus, Jyfo ran over to the fainted woman, slightly covered in Jarket's blood, and gently picked her up and carried her out of the cold industrial fridge.

Laying her against a crate, he checked her for a pulse and breath. She seemed alright, but passed out cold. Gripping his sabre, he ran back into the fridge to see how Marcus was handling the target. Last he saw, he was caving the scum's head in with some brutal headbutts. Although he knew Jedi shouldn't really... enjoy that image, Jyfo smiled as he thought of it.

Marcus made sure that the man we unconscious before slinging him over his shoulder with a grunt. He was heavy karking man, that much was sure. It was now just a matter of getting him back to the ship, which wouldn't be excruciatingly hard. Once he had the cargo, he was home free.

He walked back out into the open space of the cargo hold and looked to the Jedi as he cared for the girl that was taken hostage. "Welp... Heres our man." He presented the unconscious body to the Jedi and laughed as he struggled to hold him a bit. Before looking towards the large doors of the warehouse that remained open. "I suppose this is where we part ways..."

Jyfo

A lost past, an unknown future
Jyfo felt his high of emotion slowly trickle down until he was left with his usual, calm self. He barely registered what Marcus said, until he snapped out of his reflective trance and took in the unconscious target held by Marcus in all its splendor. Parting ways. Right.

"Yes, of course. It has been a pleasure assisting you. I suppose my Master will be expecting me back, anyway." Jyfo looked off out the the large, durasteel doors of the warehouse. The sun had just barely started to rise, melting the black of night into lighter and lighter gray. "That, and I'm incredibly tired. I hope our paths will cross again, my friend." He held his hand out to the bounty hunter he had fought with and began thinking how best to explain his adventure to his Master.

Marcus took the hand of the jedi and gave it a firm shake with his gloved hand. It was time to get off this planet and back to Ithor. This bounty would be paying for multiple new articles for his ship and he could barely contain himself in his excitement to having finally completed the bounty. His armor now bore more battle scars from this adventure as well, notably a scratch on one of his shoulderpads which had been created by a strong knife. The knife had been held by the Gran that he had encountered on the roof, and it now became a simple reminder of a passing journey.

He made a final securing heft of the man onto his shoulder, to secure him, and then he walked towards the large durasteel doors. "I'm sure we'll see eachother again sometime... Maybe you'll be the master then!"
