It had been a year or more since Caedyn had last stepped foot on Kashyyyk, or visited the home of the Order of the Silver Jedi, The Silver Rest. He had left Kashyyyk in order to build a presence within the Outer Rim Territories, to strengthen and reestablish the Jedi Enclave of Svivren there, and had been relatively successful in this endeavor so far; However he also missed the beauty of his former home (One of several) and had been glad to reopen communication with the Order, most pleased to find himself being welcomed back by Elise, though they had never met. Time was ever moving, and it sounded as though there had been much change over the course of a year...

Today's visit however was not of personal leisure but one of Academic value to those of the Order of the Silver Jedi, as well as any other visiting members of the greater Galactic Order dotting the known charts of space here and there. Caedyn had offered to teach a class in the subject of Meditation and the value of emotional restraint, something that he had been encouraged by recent events of his own life, to reevaluate and appreciate the vital importance of.

The subject of this lesson naturally revolved around the Force, as all things often did with those sensitive to it's calling. In this sense, Caedyn had informed his attendee's that he would await them nearby the Silver Landing, and from there they would venture further into the great Forest lands that made Kashyyyk so appealing to the eyes. The walk would not take more than an hour, yet the experience ought to prove beneficial to the discussion along the way, as nature was the most pure catalyst to drawing from the Force, where life was at it's most vibrant and in such a peaceful setting, one might often find themselves letting go of distant worries to instead feel the joy and appreciation of the World around them.

The journey would not be too arduous and the most challenging was the need to avoid tripping over any outlaying roots from the greater tree-life around the group. While their path wasn't exactly clear, nor there any pavement or man-made roads to follow, Caedyn Arenais knew his way, and carried a small smile with his every step, wondering whether or not his soon-to-be students thought he were somehow mad.

Many years back, his Father Veiere had shown Caedyn this sanctuary where the Jedi Master had planted a Tree of Life (A Force Sensitive Tree), and while there were a number in the Galaxy like it, this one had been Veiere's gift to Kashyyyk. It had created a certain Sanctuary where nature had seemingly grown around the single tree's wealth of Force sensitivity, giving birth to a calmness across the area and creating a much easier entry-way to one's ability to draw strength and power from the Force itself. It was here that the lesson would take place, as unlike his Father, Caedyn detested the classroom environment compared to the open outdoors.

"Welcome, all of you" Caedyn finally greeted the group once they had arrived to the woodland sanctuary; "Today's class is going to be held here. I apologize for the stringing you all along for so long, but as you can see, this place is too beautiful not to appreciate".

Kyra was more than use to being dragged deep into Kashyyyk's woods for her lessons. Judah Lesan Jr. Judah Lesan Jr. had long since learned that her energy was better managed under the trees than the holographic lights of Silver Rest's classrooms.

She knew the woods well, well enough to be spotted up in the trees halfway through their walk in-- careening from branch to branch like some wild child. It brought her a sense of capability, however brief. She was back on solid ground by the time their lesson began, the red head gazing with wide eyes at the tree behind the master as he spoke. His words went over her head, the padawan already sensing the tree's innate uniqueness.

Fascinating.

She stretched out with her mind, immediately reaching to see if it possessed thoughts or feelings for her to read. What. It worked with animals.

Kyra possessed no tact or manners with her mental abilities. They simple were . The young zeltron impressed her emotions onto others as freely as she absorbed them. She was an empath with no control. Those around her often got the brunt of it.

" Ura Iolar Ura Iolar , look! It's alive, do you feel it?" She whispered under her breath, elbowing her sandy friend.

Ura loved it when they had classes outside. It was calm, and open, and honestly helped her focus more and feel more comfortable. Ironic for a pilot who spent so much time in the cockpit. The Lervon was just happy to have a new class. It was going to be taught by an Arenais too! This would be awesome! While she was excited, the sandy Padawan would soon get the excitement Krya had too as she swung around above. Ura chuckled, darting up for the last few trees before the class.

As Caedyn started speaking, Ura listened carefully, but she was immediately drawn to the aurora of Force around the tree. Her own curiosity only seemed to be doubled by Krya, who nudged her and pointed out that the tree was alive. She let out some whispery Lerdos, her native tongue, before speaking again in basic. "Yeah. It's incredible." Ura then quickly looked over, trying to remember Caedyns question. Oh right! "It's ok. It's quite beautiful here."

Acaadi had learned that you had to let Kyra's energy flow through you. It was too easy to get swept up in her current. So when her energy was directed at Ura he grinned but focused on their new teacher.

This was supposed to be quite a light class. However, most of then time when a teacher had described a lesson as fairly easy for the novices it had led to being pushed to his physical or mental limits. Time would tell.

He nodded in appreciation of their surroundings. It was always disappointing how plain Silver Rest actually was. A planet of trees as large as skyscrapers and their home was more like a...conference center.

Caedyn studied the three students before him, each of them uniquely different and possessing their own qualities and strengths from the other, no doubt. The sight was a heart warming one, and reminded him of his former years in learning; Which wasn't all that long ago in the mix of things, compared to most Jedi Knights known to the Galaxy today. Still in his mid twenties, Caedyn often felt at a loss with himself and his need to provide evidence of his experience through his behavior and actions...-And hopefully those before him wouldn't find themselves contending with the same struggle further down along their path in Jedi life.

Most blatantly obvious to all of them however was Kyra Perl Kyra Perl 's influence across the sanctuary, for her empathic abilities still required some evident finesse in how to control and restrain herself from affecting the minds and emotions of others nearby. Perhaps this was one of the motivations that Elisa had requested Caedyn offer a lesson to the Silver Order.

Fortunately, Ura Iolar Ura Iolar and Acaadi Acaadi appeared to be relatively comfortable, or at the very least used to being in such open company that it didn't appear to be a deterrence to the lesson ahead. Arguably more familiar with one another than Caedyn was with the Silver Jedi of today, it was encouraging to see them interacting with one another in unity and that sense of camaraderie that followed many students in their peer relationships growing up within an Enclave or Jedi Temple environment.

Caedyn smiled and nodded to Ura as the Lervon was the first to respond and agree with their environment. "I've always felt the Force flowed most fluid in places where nature is allowed to flourish" Caedyn replied, giving some explanation to their surroundings; "My Father once planted this tree many years ago, where he acquired it from Yutan shortly after the battle between the One Sith and the Galactic Republic", a long time ago now and serving to emphasize such a fact, this was however not the subject for today's class.

"Though we're here for an Emotional Awareness lesson, not a history class...-Thank the Force" he chuckled, grinning to the small group. "Before we begin, does anyone know if there aren't any stragglers still needing to catch up?".

"Ah-yup!" Kyra chirped. "Amani's on her way. She's..." she glanced over her shoulder, gesturing lazily. "Climbing a limb to fetch her shoe." She said this straight faced, though Acaadi would catch the mischievous glint her eye as she looked his way. "Yoooou can go on, she'll get here."

Eventually.

"Um but, question," she interjected, raising her hand. She continued forward whether or not he was willing, her gaze locking back on the tree. "That tree is too big to be planted by your father. Are you sure he didn't lie to you about it?"

Phalsi slowly made her way through the area, examining the surroundings. Everything felt alive, a strange feeling considering the typical absence of such a sensation on other planets. Her eyes found a rough spot, ground disturbed by recent visitors as she walked towards the place that resonated with energy. Her steps were light, no twig or leaf giving her away as she stepped into the place with the other students. Her presence was required due to her trouble with keeping anger down, but being petty was also a reason for her to be there.

Feeling slighted and not letting it go was something she was told she had to work on. The device in her pocket was silent, nothing pinging her for attention as she watched the others gathered speak with each other. Taking a steadying breath, she found a spot to herself, still keeping an eye on the group that had come together.

“Meditation…” was the first word that Jasper said when he came into an area of Kashyyyk’s woods with the other students that were willing to learn. A bit of a smile vaguely showed up on his face only to disappeared as quickly as it showed up when he saw the other students for class. He didn’t want them to show any sign of emotion from the other students as a precaution. But couldn't help but smile a bit since he was looking forward to this class. Some may call hiding his emotions from others who seem friendly ridiculous but to someone like Jasper, he likes to takes chances. He walked closer to the other students that were going to partake in this force session, not trying to intentionally make himself known but also not trying to hide.

Once he felt that he was blended into the group, he looked over at the tree himself and felt something coming from it. That feeling made him worried and he didn’t know why. He looked over to the tree while looking uninterested at it, then switch between looking at it and the one teaching the class just in case the teacher said something important for him to know.

"Um but, question...
That tree is too big to be planted by your father.
Are you sure he didn't lie to you about it?"
Though it might be a surprise to the group, Caedyn couldn't help but chuckle in response to Kyra's questioning the truth behind the tree of life; "Biology isn't exactly my greatest subject, but this tree's older than I am, that's for sure. From what he told me, he moved it here from a Praxeum Vessel...-Unfortunately he's no longer around to ask, so this is only as far as I know. You could well be right..." though if Veiere had indeed been telling stories, Caedyn probably didn't want to know about it at this point.

"As I'm sure you've all noticed by now, the tree's different from those surrounding us in that it seems to be filled with the energies of life, the Force flowing through out it as though you might sense from another Force User. As strange as it might sound, that's exactly what this is...A Force Sensitive Tree. They're rare but have been known to the Jedi for quite some time" Caedyn explained, moving to find himself a seat upon the flat surface of a rock at the foot of the tree where the roots seemed to have given form to a almost circular clearing, Caedyn inviting them all to find a seat of their choosing.

"I'm expecting that this tree will help us in a meditation exercise to finish up this lesson" he continued, "However first I want to discuss the subject of the Jedi and their emotions...-Obviously a big deal when it comes to the Jedi Code, too" He smiled, looking them all over. Some Jedi like his father had favored the Jedi Code, where as others used it as a more moral compass sort of deal. For Caedyn, it was a set of guidelines, principles that quite honestly could be applied to every day life for one wishing to live a good virtuous lifestyle.

"Can anyone tell me why our emotions are such a big deal?".

"Oh dear."

A groan, followed by a snap, followed by a crunch.

"Ow."

Amani had successfully retrieved her lost boot from the tree, at the cost of a branch that she assumed was enough to hold her weight. She assumed wrong. Pushing herself up, she blinked a few times and shook her head to clear the dizziness of the fall. Not wanting to be late, as was becoming more of a trend for her than she'd like, Amani awkwardly hopped forward, trying to move and put her boot back on at the same time.

It seemed like class was already starting, as she overheard the others speaking before she reached them. Maybe she could just... sneak in? No, there's too few people here for them to not notice. She huffed and stepped into the sanctuary, to quickly find people looking in her direction, the talking dying down around the time she entered.

"..."

"...Kyra stuck my shoe in a tree!" Amani blurted. She stiffly sat down alongside the others, not wanting to take the spotlight anymore than she had to. She gave a sheepish smile and a shrug to their teacher, and peered over at Kyra from the corner of her eye. Did she have proof Kyra did it? Well... no. Buuut she had a sneaking suspicion.

Ura heard how Kyra answered Caedyn about Amani being late, but she couldn't help but pick on her friends mischief. Something told her the pink skinned Padawan had been the one who managed to get their friend's boot in the tree. She looked at Acaadi, attempting to convey something of her suspicions of Kyra's involvement. At least Amani made it, with her boot. Ura gave her a wave, then looked back at Caedyn.

Emotions. This was somewhat of a weakness of the Lervon's. She wasn't able to hide them at all. She could keep... decent control of them, but she had to admit fear had often become an issue. From the undead stormtroopers, to the Sith Spawn class. Her fear would sometimes get the better of her. Hopefully she'd learn a bit of how to control it. She wondered how Kyra would take this class too, being an empath.

"Um.... I believe it is to prevent one from falling to the Dark Side. At least... fully. I know Grey users exist."

He took a long breath. Staring at the congregation of padawan learners from the edge of the clearing, he felt unease. The arkanian was far from a social being. Isolation came naturally to him, as did staying out of sight. Whenever stepped into the light of other Jedi, he felt the gaze of those around him cast down judgement upon him for his shortcomings.

Even as he felt himself becoming a part of the Jedi as a whole more and more, the doubt never left. It was one of the reasons he much preferred not thinking about even interacting, being part of a group but never actually integrating. Appear as though he was engaged but never truly become one.

It was a weakness, he realized. No one Jedi could ever truly work alone. He had to cast off the shackles of isolation, as he came to think of it, and join the greater whole truly, no matter the discomfort it brought.

To that end, he was here. It was pure chance that he learned of the lecture to be held today. He'd recognized the name Caedyn Arenais, the Jedi Knight whom he exchanged brief words with above Figaro Favoura. Someone he'd come to respect based on his willingness to self-sacrifice. As an exercise to break down the barriers he'd built around himself and to follow up with the Knight, he'd decided to come here today.

The white cape swayed lightly behind him as he approached, the quiet clatter of armoured boots and plates which covered his chest and shoulders announcing his presence.

He'd read it was important to greet sentients when one first met them, so he did just that.

Coming to a halt on the edge of the assembly, he bowed to the only face he recognized, one hand on his chest while the other remained behind his back. When he came upright again he bore an expression devoid of any clear emotion other than determination.

"Padawan Bernard of Arca. I seek to learn from your lecture, Knight Arenais. Apologies for my late intrusion." he spoke with false confidence.

Not quite a greeting, but he was proud of himself nonetheless.

Jasper's eyes may had been interlocked between the tree and the Jedi Knight (Caedyn Arenais) but his ears listened to the Jedi Knight when he spoke. The Knight did speak, Jasper put his attention off the tree and onto the man…or he tired his best to do so. The tree was becoming a distraction to the young teen and knew that this wasn’t going to be good for him. In a move that he would call a horrible one, he asked himself questions about the tree while the knight was talking to the students that were, they’re and willing to learn. He was a solid believer in paying attention to people who were trying to lecture on subjects that were informative whether he was interested in it or not. He didn’t people that weren’t giving full attention such as this and as much as he didn’t want to admit it, he was doing the same thing.

He was distracted a bit more when he glanced over to the person who just came in (Bernard of Arca). He took a couple of mental notes from the actions that the person did before he tried to focus his attention back at the teacher. When the teacher asked about emotions, Jasper already had a firm belief in it but he didn’t want to say it. To put it simply, he was afraid of what others might think of his opinions on it. So he stayed silent even after one of the other students spoke on it.

She listed to the question, eyes flicking to the newcomer that had introduced themselves in a rather foreign manner. At least foreign to her anyways. Thoughts swirled around the words, absorbing what another said as Phalsi added her two credits to the answer.

"Emotions can overrule sense in times when a clear head is required. However a lack of them can also unbalance a being as well." Phalsi piped up, her legs beneath her as she leaned to one side to watch their teacher.

Caedyn smiled, and nodded in approval. "Correct!" he smiled, pausing to look across the group gauging their reactions or facial expressions to see whether or not they were following and paying attention. There were a couple newcomers which he welcomed with a gesture for them to take a seat, however soon continued to talk; "It's a common belief from those outside of the Order, that we as Jedi don't carry our feelings, our emotions, like the rest of the Galaxy. As if we're incapable of feeling. You all here, of course, know this isn't the truth at all...".

"Through your learning of the Jedi Code, you're encouraged to act with reason, sound mind over the passions of the heart. But the fact is that our emotions are a vital component of who we are, and how we're built up as sentient beings. To ignore or try to get rid of our feelings would go against the natural course of life. Simply put, it would be unnatural and perverse the very way the Force flows through us", there was a lot to cover on the mechanics of biological makeup, sentient mechanics and the general design and workings of the natural body and mind, thus Caedyn didn't seek to delve into too deep a specifics, in order to confuse the students before him. Instead he tried to keep things as simple and easy to understand, in order to hold their attention.

"We're going to take our time to discuss these things, so I'm not going to move to quickly, that you all might not be able to keep up" he assured them, another smile escaping him. "So to begin, what might be some negative effects or consequences that might come about if we were to bottle or try to reject our emotions and feelings? Can any of you think of some bad things that might happen, were you to pent up all your feelings rather than expressing them and dealing with them?".

Kyra's attention flickered over to the teacher, her monkey-hands slowly dropping as she tuned into his words. It wasn't often a lecturer caught her attention, but for a rare moment the Knight would find himself with the sole, undivided focus of the little pink padawan.

"Through your learning of the Jedi Code, you're encouraged to act with reason, sound mind over the passions of the heart. Her attention only grew more profound, her feet tucking out from under her to be folded criss-cross before her. The chaotic static of emotions that echoed around her, a thing a more finely tuned force user might notice, fell silent and still. She hung on his every word, her eyes wide and expression solemn.

"Can any of you think of some bad things that might happen, were you to pent up all your feelings rather than expressing them and dealing with them?".

"...People die," came her voice, small yet matter of fact.

Acaadi was glad to hear this subject discussed so openly. It was still something that he struggled with. He always felt as if he sat beside his own spirituality, rather than being immersed in it. There was a little separation between the Force and the beliefs of his people but he hadn't untangled that mess yet.

He was about to answer when Kyra came in with a response that was certain to dominate the conversation now.

Through the bond that had slowly grown between them he tried to impart some reassurance. He turned his gaze towards Kyra and offered a sad smile.

"I guess if you don't embrace them when they get out of control they're going to...really get out of control. And that's where the dark side gets a hold of you?" It made sense now he said it out loud. Had he ever really bottled up his emotions? When he had called on the Force through his own anger it had taken him completely by surprise.

Like before, Jasper stayed silent as everyone around him answered the next question that was asked by Knight Arenais on emotion and the consequences that come from “keeping them in check” as Jasper put it. While he wasn’t fully against expressing and dealing with one’s own emotion, he knew that he couldn’t just let those same emotions fully control a person’s actions and decisions. Throughout history, it’s been shown through multiple, numerous occasions that emotions are a double edge sword. He knew it was natural to have these feelings of emotions but giving in to them they be costly especially when they must be in control.

Jasper wondered if he should say something about emotions like some of the other students around him in order to avoid suspicion. He had nothing to hide but the same couldn’t be said for the rest of the people in the group. He now felt pressured to say something about the question the longer time went by and through he didn’t want to show it, his face showed some hint of nervousness. He weights down the pros and cons of the issue at hand and soon make a comprise with himself in the form of saying to the teacher in a mellow tone “Emotions are a double edge sword. One must be wary of their own.”
