There's Always Time For Tea

She nodded to his remarks on what the Sith would want from her. It might not save her from injury, but it could keep her alive. At least on their end. With the Republic however it could mean arrest and execution. But for her own interests, it was a risk that she had to take.

Kay finished her tea as he spoke of her first lesson. They were to start right away? Wonderful. She nodded in response to his question. "I do. I use it to help heal by tapping into the Force around me."

"Perfect. If you know how to tap into the Force around you, this lesson will be rather easy. Do you know the difference between yourself and the force around you? Where you begin, and it ends?" Slowly the Sith Lord would stand, golden eyes focused entirely on [member="Lady Kay"] . She was now his student, and though he didn't plan to teach her like a normal Sith (He couldn't have her breaking or dying on him when he still had uses for her) he would teach her none the less. "Focus on this boundary between you and the Living Force. When you find it, tell me."

She set down her cup and got to her feet shortly after he did. His gaze still made her slightly uncomfortable, but that could be because of the Darkness inside of him. Yet she couldn't let that distract her.

Kay closed her eyes and let out a slow breath as she concentrated on the Force flowing around her. She knew physically where the boundary was, but not entirely in the correct way. So she searched, looking past her physical body and more towards the energy within. And then she spotted the difference. Outside the Force was in equal parts, yet neutral. While it was within her that it was different, brighter as she leaned more towards the Lightside. She found it! Not wanting to spoil her concentration however, Kay gave Darth Ferus a thumbs up.

"Good, now, focus on that feeling of yourself, and condense it. Bring it towards yourself, shrink it down. Make your presence within the Force shrink away." A smile now formed on his lips as [member="Lady Kay"] found the signature. With a nod, he would wait to see what exactly she could do. Art of the Small was the name of the skill, neither light or dark, though it's uses were far and wide once one mastered the shrinking of their own signature.

Specifically, changing the atomic structure of items. Though, that wasn't something this Lady would be able to do yet, or for a while. When she could though, she would find it pretty helpful for healing. And for destruction, should she ever need it.

Kay dropped her hand back down and tried keeping her focus as he spoke. But how he described it surprised her as it wasn't what she was expecting. It had made perfect sense to make herself seem small, but the thought had never occurred to her that that was how it was done. And as she pondered over those details her focus was lost.

So she started again, taking in a deep breath and letting it out slowly. She concentrated on the Force energies both with and without until she could pick out her own. And then she imagined hers starting to contract, like a reversal of the ringlets created by a pebble dropped in water. Inward she felt her Force signature going until it was like a bright glowing ball at her centre.

Did she do it right or was it just her imagination? Kay waited to find out.

"Very good, very good. The more you use this skill, the easier it will be for you to shrink it down. But for now, this is all I will show you, and I would suggest practice." Another nod from the Sith to [member="Lady Kay"] , and Darth Ferus would turn away. Rather casually he would begin to walk off, both hands behind his back as he spoke up for her to hear him. "Should you need to get in contact, I've left a list on the table of my own within Republic space. I wouldn't abuse such an offering though. I look forward to hearing from you." With that, the Sith would move out of range for further conversation, and not bother to look back.

Kay opened her eyes and relinquished her focus on the Force once she heard his praise. She nodded, knowing full well of the benefits of practice. "Thank you...."

As Ferus spoke of the list, she looked down at the table and sure enough, there was the piece of paper held in place by her tea cup. Of course she would never dream of abusing the offer. It was by luck that Ferus didn't attack her at all, but instead they came to a mutual understanding. As of late she had come across other Darksiders that have offered their assistance to her instead of insisting a conflict. And that was nothing to complain about. She hoped that through those examples it was full proof that each side can co-exist with the other and not need to be at war.
