Thinking, In the Pursuit of Knowledge

Rakieh Atur

The Watchman's Apprentice
The events of the recent past were simply just a blur for Rakieh. So much has happened in so little time that little room had been given for him to think all of it out. Even now, he stands in the glory of the Voss Academy, so dumbfounded by the idea of simply existing in its space no other thought could come through. You could say that he was distracted. He was. You could say that he didn't know what to do next. He didn't.

What is it a Jedi would do in a time like this? Calm themselves? Clear their mind? A combination of the two? Neither? What to do, what to do...?

It was, of course, no use. Rakieh could only help but distract himself with arbitrary trains of thought. How could he not? Today he was doing himself both the greatest honor and the biggest wrongdoing. He would begin on the path of learning the ways of the Force, a dream of enlightenment for him, and actions worthy of exile for his family.

No matter. His to-be-Master would be there soon. There was no time for second thoughts, if any had been there to begin with. Now was time to take the next step, and once that step was taken, to follow through, into the unknown reaches of the future as a Jedi of the Silver Jedi Order.

And just like that, the jedi master stood there for a moment longer. Allowing the force energies to roll off of him more like a mantale as one had called it before. A showing of dominance where he preferred it to just the simple means Compared to some of the others that he generally taught and worked with he was proud to say at least his students hadn't fallen to the darkside so that was a plus after seeing the hell that was midvinter. He had experienced many more things in some ways so getting to go out here while he was walking with the fell star on his chest that gleamed and hummed with the force. His armored robed pants and the rest of his equipment like the sabers on his belt. He was just going off to see his padawan when he stood there looking out with the sash on his face.

Rakieh Atur

The Watchman's Apprentice
Rakieh knew not how much time had past with his senseless thinking, but in what felt like mere moments, a strong presence, a presence of which he had never felt before, emanated from not to far off. The presence shook him to his core, not in the way of fear, but momentarily in the way of uncertainty, and then, tranquility. Though it might have been imagined, despite his lack of adeptness in the ways of the Force, it was as if he could feel the billowing of robes, and the soft cascade of a sash wrapped around ones face. It was to this feeling that Rakieh had quickly donned his silver mask himself, having forgotten to do so earlier, and turned to witness the presence.

What a miraculous shade of blue...

Rakieh, not knowing what to do, knelt on one knee and bowed his head, hoping to come off as respectful.

"You... forgive me. You must be Master Syn. It is an honor to meet you."

Rakieh took a deep breath.

"I am Rakieh Atur, a simple Miraluka from Ord Trasi. I hope that I might be befitting of your time, Master."

He looked at him and a fellow miraluka well not a bad thing... downside is both are blind in many ways but they could just use that for their own needs. it helped to improve the power and skill that they could present to other people. "Welcome to Voss." He said it softly more like a teenager and despite it he was young looking to most of the others... Just experience made him older then most. Allowing the force to guide him when he crossed his arms over his chest.

"I have a lot of time, spending it with padawans and teaching them is something that makes it more important." He said it with a grin on his face while he motioned with one hand and wrapped the force so that he was visible. The force enhancement from the synthmesh of the pants that worked to enlighten jedi who wore it and the lightside of the force was like a conduit for him and all fo the others who had the robes. Presenting one of the Sasori padawan robe sets.

"These are for you, they are designed to be highly protective for padawans in training and only those who serve the lightside of the force are able to wear them so it helps protect the jedi from those who seek to deceive them. With all of their works in training there are also a few others supplies that Sasori provides for jedi and padawans whatever you might like to do." He said it staying there before running a hand through his short hair for a moment with a smirk.

Rakieh Atur

The Watchman's Apprentice
Rakieh stood, almost rather cautiously, as if in hopes that him standing at this point was not offensive, and as if a Miraluka could look someone in the eyes, in this case, a Miraluka as well, Rakieh looked Master Syn in the eyes and bowed his head, taking the Sasori robes from him. He spent a brief moment looking back down at the robes before looking Syn in the eyes again, running his fingers across them, like anyone would do when given a miraculous gift, in both disbelief and awe.

"Thank you, Master Syn. I shall cherish them."

"But alas Master, even if you have much time, time itself, no matter the amount or abundance of it, is precious nonetheless, no? I shall not make waste of it. Were do we begin my training?"

It was odd, meeting another Miraluka. The thought had just crossed his mind, given that vague excitement and nervous tendencies ruled over it mere moments ago. With his head now a little more level than before, he began to don portions of the new Sasori robe he was gifted, and in that time, still prepared to give Syn his attention when need be, he thought of all the nuances of the situation. A Miraluka Master could not have been better. It would be someone who understands him to the fullest. His personality would work well with Rakieh's in his current state. Could not have meshed better.

Ah... Almost too good. How is it that life and the Force have the capacity to produce and offer perfection in the little things and the snippets of time in which we exist? How is it that I was offered such perfection now? I might not know. I shan't question it. If it is to be, it is to be.

Hmm where best to begin, normally he would be out of the temple. On worlds like Corbos or some of the other darkside worlds but given the recent changes and how two of their own had willingly... almost gleefullly betrayed them he had come back to look to bring the shadows and some fo the sentinels back into shape. Thanks to Son-Jan's plan as well it was looking a lot better. So the work that they would be looking to do was an important part of the plan. So he was a little questioning about where to take him and train him. They didn't have massive sithspawn to fight and smash in the face. "We'll begin with the basics, what have you been taught beyond the normal techniques of the the Luka for sensing and navigating around the world?"

Rakieh Atur

The Watchman's Apprentice
At this point, Rakieh had donned his robes and was simply contemplating. His Master's question threw him off a little, as it was a tad bit concerning: he could only wonder if he was being held to higher expectations that he was able to meet right off the bat. Of course, he had to relax. Surely he wasn't the first that had no knowledge of the Force. Even for a Miraluka.

"No Master. Only the basics. Although..."

Concentrating as hard as he could, Rakieh almost seemed to stare intently at Syn, staying silent as he did so...

...Can you hear me? If you can, then this is the extent of my knowledge of the Force. If you can't... well I'd assume you can deduce the severity of my life of ignorance. I can also lift things. To an extent. My abilities are quite limited.

Rakieh then relaxed.

"Other than what I just tried and some telekinetic potential, I know close to nothing about the Force."

Syn was looking at him and with a nod of his head so that he would look at his padawan. The mental shield that the robes created was for hostile attacks and the lambent crystal built into it allowed the mental communications better. for linking. It was like a cord before he was moving and motioned for him. Some mental energies and some telekinesis was important to have as a start. He was looking to make sure hi padawan knew how to use the other basics such as tutaminis, tapas and how to resist the influence of the darkside. "The basics will keep gong and we'll see about it. Wanting to see about some of the techniques. Tutaminis is one of the most basics and at advanced levels you can protect yourself and regain energy."

Rakieh Atur

The Watchman's Apprentice
"I am eager to learn master," Rakieh said, excitement beginning to build in his voice. "Where do we start? How do I begin learning this Tutaminis?"

Rakieh shook his head and bowed it. He knew he was rushing into things. He knew it wasn't appropriate to do so. He also knew, perhaps coming from some form of naivety, that there were other things that he should accrue knowledge of before learning techniques he had before only heard of in stories.

"Forgive me Master. I get ahead of myself."

Rakieh released a sorrowful sigh.

"If you do not object, I would first like to learn how to avoid succumbing to the dark side. I have... already experienced and been in the company of an individual who is versed in it. I do not want to become like him... But similarly, as I said rather hastily before, I would very much enjoy being able to learn the basic techniques in general. And the name Tutaminis sounds very interesting and appealing in of itself."

Well there was a place to start and could work well with tutaminis in terms of how you used the power you learned to absorb. "Resisting the darkside is something that can require years of training or just a dedication to simple thoughts. Resisting its influence on your negative emotions means you know how to control them. When you are angry, acknowledge it but do not act on it, when you are fearful acknowledge it but don't act on it." Harder to explain then show but the best way to resist was to use and go against darksiders. Listen to them and pick apart what they were saying. "One wants to have an intimate knowledge of history and the atrocities that have been done in the name of both the lightside and the darkside. The sith will attempt to generally downplay their history while emphasizing the negative about the jedi however to be of the darkside is to want to control and rule over others. To impose your will on them because you believe you know what is better for them then anyone else int he galaxy."

Rakieh Atur

The Watchman's Apprentice
"I see. Sounds rather simple in practice, being able to resist the darkside... I can also so how that might take years of discipline and training, years of which I am more than willing to dedicate myself to."

Rakieh paused for a moment, as if to gather his thoughts.

"What are the histories and atrocities I should know? I don't have much any experience with the histories of the lightside or the darkside. If anything, I've heard in passing stories of the Jedi-Sith War from long before our time —the current fall of the Sith and the Republic—, but I don't know much about even that. What should I know?

Another pause.

"Also, if you can forgive me master, I would like to make in inquiry on your last statement. How do we know that the will of the darkside isn't what is best for the galaxy? Further, how do we know that the lightside is what's best of the galaxy? Is there a moral reasoning behind it, or does it come down to the will of the Force itself? Those the Force favour certain aspects of itself?"

He looked at his padawan and spoke. "I never said the lightside was best. If the lightside of the force is harmony and working to protect others then the darkside is about yourself. The darkside takes what virtues the jedi use, patience, harmony, control and twist them. Go for the more primal and base emotions. passion, anger, lust. They are the emotions and thoughts you can have without real thought." He was walking and leading it through into the temple. "As a jedi master said to me eight hundred years ago. It is much easier to destroy and conquer everything in the galaxy then it is to create and protect the people."

He stayed there and continued towards some of the larger more open areas of the temple. Just outside the main area but still part of it with the trees that some had been smashed from training with Domino another master and jericho another as well. Given between the three of them that Saki a matukai master was the closest to physical power they needed more of an area where their training didn't detonate the buildings themselves with the power before he was finding a fallen tree and sitting there. "You can learn a lot from history and the jedi's restoration teams have been working on the Library. A massive monolith with all of the information gathered you can review."

Rakieh Atur

The Watchman's Apprentice
Rakieh walked by Syn side as he began taking him through the temple, observing the three masters in their training, in awe of the power and skill that they wielded.

"I see. Despite it being all relative, it makes perfect sense. I does make me curious though: the dark side focuses on emotions, is it possible to use some of those emotions for the greater good? Say, perfect attunement with emotions such as love and compassion, but acted upon as similarly as dark side users would use anger or hatred?"

Rakieh paused for a minute in his questions.

"I suppose then you will see me often within the Library. But for now... where do we start?"

"I jedi using emotions can be complicated. It can be done but you have to be careful. In comparison to the many who try and use emotions to become stronger and fall. It is not something I recommend to try and tempt." He remained there and had seen more then enough padawans, more then enough in the silvers who praised their emotions and how much stronger it made them... and then a week later they were serving the darkside of the force and the sith because the emotions and using them became addictive to wanting to use when normal jedi traditions wanted you to not use emotions because it was meant to help show control. Slowly though remaining there as he was ready to begin the jedi master stood ready for it there. "We'll begin now." He motioned and stood in an area so he could move his hands forward, focusing the force energies and he was drawing the energy into himself then out near his hands.

Rakieh Atur

The Watchman's Apprentice
Rakieh watched his master pull off this amazing feat in front of his eyes, force energies congregating in front of where the master's hand lay. He stood there, simply watching for the first few minutes, trying to figure out just what it was that his master was doing. After a few seconds of time flew by, he nodded, and took a couple of deep breaths, pacing back and forth a few times before he steadied himself and walk to stand next to his master.

Okay... here we go.

As if attempting to pull the energies from inside of him, Rakieh ran his right hand —starting from the center of his chest— along his left arm, his left arm point forward, and as the hands met, pulled his left hand along his right arm —now pointing forward as his left arm had— and back to the center of his chest, lifting it slightly of his body as he approched his chest. Rakieh's body began to quiver and shake, as though he should have been doing something...

But nothing happened.

He repeated the process and awaited his masters instructions

He was letting it go, as a miraluka he could see what most others wouldn't be able to see. The force as it collected and moved through his body into hi hands while others might only see where it was appearing. "Find a stance that is comfortable for you, allow your mind to quiet down and listen to the force energies around you. Inhale them from the air into your chest as you push them outwards into your limb and extend the idea going forward with it all. THen allow it to pool and connect between your hand and project it outwards. This is some of the first techniques to learning how to generate the force and will aid in practicing tutaminis."

Rakieh Atur

The Watchman's Apprentice
Rakieh nodded to his master, attempting the same maneuver he had earlier, but this time, towards the end of the art, he inhaled slowly, drawing his right arm in towards his body, and then, in a slow and calm exhale, breathed outward, pushing his hand and arm to extend outward in unison with his breathing. As he began to inhale again, Force energies began to coalesce at the base of his palm, swirling calmly in a light blue energy. The beauty of the situation was of extreme magnitude for Rakieh, so much so that it overshadowed his excitement at the achievement he had just made and silenced him; there were no words that could express what he was seeing right now. He continued to stare into the light blue aura for a few minutes, focusing intently on the color and the feeling of the energies that swirled in an almost to-good-to-be-true perfect harmony.

He then looked up to his master expectantly.

...Is this it? Am I doing it right?

There we go, watching the padawan as the young man was doing it and bringing the force to his body. he understood it, even with the most basic of training they were miraluka that meant they well that meant they knew how to use and manipulate the force early on for themselves. "Now once you have the energy generated focus on it, allow it to settle there before he was looking at hima nd focusing on the florce itself there. "Now once it is in your hands focus on the energy. Allow it to channel back into your body allowing the force energy you have generated to strengthen yourself and create a loop in your body."

Rakieh Atur

The Watchman's Apprentice
And as his master instructed, Rakieh began to relax whatever tension had lay in his hand, and in doing so, allowed the Force energies to flow back into his body, watching as he retracted his arm and his hand turned to a fist and the once harmonious swirl of blue slowly dissipated as it began the journey back to the core from whence it came. As he began to attempt to push that energy through again, this time through the the other side, he could feel the energy fade from him, starting from the outer reaches of his body, working its way towards the center.

He frowned, but began the process again, proceeding to succeed in the first portion and fail the second portion multiple times before finally deciding, after watching his master continue to function without fail, to change his approach.

He repeated the process that would get him passed the first portion, producing a swirl of blue energy. He then, much like a horse stance, spread is legs, one at a time, and then steadied himself, hardened his position, his body, his resolve, and then with a fluid torsion of the forearm, twirled his fingers in the direction of the swirl, absorbing it, and pulled his arm to his side, mirroring the other before the other, in a reverse process of the previous, was pushed out from the center of his body, untwisted, and produced the same harmonious swirl.

Rakieh smiled at the achievement.

He could see what was working and the process that was coming when they moved now. in the area. A small section here so that all of them would be able to move around and set up. "Good you are doing well." He could see and feel the force while letting the force energies flow from one hand and be absorbed itno the other. The jedi themselves were moving around. "Now once you are able to do it, remember this feeling. Remember the flow of the force and how you can generate it and how you absorb it. The basics of defending yourself from energy based attacks will allow you to convert the energy into force power that you are able to use."
