This Ain't No Cup of Tea

"Not every slave was born into it, [member="Bat"], but I already have that covered too. When they are rescued some want to leave those planets behind. So I take them to another where I have friends that help transition them into a way of life where they can get wages for their work, have their own places of residence and learn different skills. Once the slaves are freed, I don't just abandon them..."

Kay finished off her tea and then placed her cup inside of her satchel. She held out her hand for his cup. "Are you finished with it? If so we should call it a night and get some sleep. With the fire still going, we should be safe."

Bat nodded along with her explanation of what happened to the slaves when they were freed. Inevitably they would likely be given work and go on to lead at least moderately productive lives. That was good, he had sort of expected her to start talking about how they would occasionally head into a life of crime. What easier way was there to make money than in the work that a criminal did? After all, you didn't need to make anything or produce adequate products, just do a civil service for the greater good of whatever hotshot was giving you orders and a paycheck.

Passing over his cup to Kay, he gave a light yawn, casting a final quick glance around the perimeter to ensure that everything was safe. Assured that it was, he responded: "I guess it's probably as good a time as any to start getting some sleep. Feel free to go ahead and nap, I'm going to keep watch for a little bit longer, ensure that everything is alright ya know?"

In truth, there was still that nagging doubt that Kay might try something once he was asleep. It was unlikely he would get much rest, but even if he did, he wanted to be positive that he was protected should such an attempt occur. With swift hand movements, Bat unloaded his weaponry, storing the power packs away on his person and giving another gentle yawn.

She took the cup and stored it inside her satchel. She then took out her rolled up cloak and opened it up. Cloaks were not only good for weather protection, but they made for great blankets as well. Kay wrapped herself in it and lay down on her side, making sure that she was near enough to the fire to be safe, yet far enough away that she wouldn't be burned. She then curled up, resting her head on one of her arms that she bent at the elbow for a make-shift pillow.

"I figured that you'd take the first shift, [member="Bat"] . Keep the fire fed as it keeps the beasts away, as well as some of the insects. Don't let me sleep for too long, please."

Then she closed her eyes. She trusted Bat as the two of them had a deal, so there was never any reason for her not to let herself sleep. Within moments she was unconscious and just as that happened, her focus on keeping her Force signature small was no longer there. If he had a way of detecting it, he would learn one of her secrets. If not, well, any peek at her blaster wound would reveal how it was healing much faster than normal.

As the evening started to wear on, the noises of the creatures of the forest began to start their nightly concerts. Some might find it beautiful and peaceful, while others would find it creepy.
