This is what it feels like (Dredge)

The fact that Sage was moving closer to him as he spoke didn't escape Jalek's notice, but he wasn't about to shift his position for two reasons. One, he knew that if he did it would ultimately mean that he was backing down from the challenge, though he wasn't sure exactly what it was that had been issued just yet. The second reason, well, he did enjoy the company more than he'd ever admit, but he would remain loyal to Cryax under any circumstances. Sure, he might flirt, often and relentlessly, but even a man like him had boundaries when it came to certain things. His might take a bit longer to find than someone elses, but they were still there, albeit vaguely and in varying amounts. They were playing a dangerous game, one that he was familiar with, and one that he could appreciate, having an intriguing second player definitely playing a part.

Admittedly, it wasn't his first time being called a tease, by any individual, and it probably wouldn't be the last. Besides, there were far worse insults that could have passed, a number of which came to his mind at that moment. "I don't know why I'm a tease, either. I don't seem to recall suggesting anything. You have an overactive imagination to match your mouth. Quite the combination, aren't you?" He could sense that Sage was still wanting something, though he wasn't sure what. Most like glitterstim, but he wasn't one to give others what they wanted so easily. Doubly so when those other people were anything like the man currently lying next to him.

"Oh, he puts up with me, sure. Believe me, I make him work for it." The last comment was intentionally suggestive and accompanied by a smirk and a raised eyebrow as he feigned innocence. "'Course, he doesn't seem to mind that, either. He's loud enough, at least." He knew full well that if Cryax had been there his remarks would have earned him a dark look from the Chiss, and most likely a whispered reminder about boundaries. But his boyfriend wasn't here, so he didn't put too much stock into all that was being said.

"I can't say I mind the fact that he decided to keep me around. Beats Taris, at least."

As he listened to the other man, Sage reached out with his empathic Force powers to poke around in the boyfriend's mind. The half Chiss was picking up some very interesting vibes from Jalek, mostly sensing loyalty to his stupid brother, but also picking up some other more conflicting emotions swimming around in there. His smile faltered a bit. Jalek was going to be a tough nut to crack, and he had the fleeting thought that maybe he should just conk the guy out and make off with the drugs while he was unconscious. But despite himself, Sage was enjoying the closeness of the other man, even if Jalek was determined to play the devoted boyfriend. Besides, Sage had found that most had a breaking point when faced with certain desires that couldn't be ignored.

"It must get boring sitting around in the President's suite all day, playing with your uh, computer," said Sage, his eyes moving downwards, nonchalantly shrugging off all of Jalek's caustic comments and inching closer to him with a wide grin on his face. Sage suddenly grabbed his cigarette from Jalek's fingers, lifting it to his lips to take a long seductive drag. "As much as you want to kiss and tell when it comes to my brother. I'd really rather not hear the gory details. It kind of grosses me out."

He bit his lip and leaned back on his elbow, looking at Jalek directly in the eyes. "But you're right about my overactive imagination, Jalek. Guess what I'm imagining now? It has something to do with that mouth of mine that you seem to have noticed."

[member="Jalek Sathora"]

Well, at least Sage knew what he wanted and didn't hesitate to work for it. That, at the very least, was a quality that could be noted with some measure of appreciation. Coupled with the fact that there was no hesitation when it came to their trading snark, were the only real redeeming qualities about him, so far. The rest remained to be seen. Normally, Jalek was anything but the voice of reason, but even he had to draw the line somewhere, however much he didn't want to in certain scenarios. "I have no doubts about what you have in mind. But I think you'll have to wait to share your tricks with somebody else. Besides," He brought his tongue piercing to attention once more, the familiar click distinct in the silence. "I've got a bit of decoration."

This was crossing into familiar territory, and he'd done similar things countless other times under much different circumstances, and with people that wanted him dead rather than things that were explicit in other areas that Sage no doubt was thinking of. "It's hard to get bored with good company to occupy my time." He left the statement open to the other man's interpretation, knowing already how he would most likely take it. "I have to admit, this is the longest I've just talked to someone like you." He raised an eyebrow and cracked a half-smile, his challenge evident.

"I didn't think you'd mind the details so much. Or at least, you don't strike me as that sort. Like you said, looks can be deceiving." Another smile. "I apologize, for not living up to your expectations. I'll have to remember that one, next time."

[member="Sage Bane"]

Sage had to admit, every time Jalek did that tongue-clicking thing with his piercing, the half Chiss wanted to jump him, but he could tell that wouldn't good idea. Although Sage had a tough exterior, his heart was more fragile than he'd ever admit, and he could never get used to the sting of rejection, which is exactly where this road would lead. Sage's frustration and need for glitterstim suddenly hit a boiling point and his eyes turned dark, just like Cryax's when he was angry. "And just what kind of person is someone like me, eh, Jalek? An addict? A whore? Why don't you just come right out and say it? I certainly heard alot worse when I was chained to a Hutt."

His head down, Sage peeled at the black polish on his nails. "You may feel comforted by that pretty Chiss, but my brother isn't what he seems. The bastard is a sociopath, just like our good-for-nothing father."

Then he cagily slid off the bed, slowly meandering around to the nightstand. Watching Jalek, he opened up the drawer and took out one of the vials of glitterstim, toying with it. "Wanna hit, beautiful?" he said offering Jalek the vial.

[member="Jalek Sathora"]

The hostile response he received wasn't entirely unexpected, so Jalek ignored it for the time being, letting the insults roll off of his back as he would with anyone else. Instead, he did what was only instinctual for him, which was, admittedly, more of a bad thing most times than a good one, doubly so when it came to more intimate situations such as this. Then again, he was never a man to be one for any typical train of thought, and it was obvious to anyone that his boundaries were much more lax than what was considered the galactic standard. So his next actions shouldn't have come as much of a surprise to anyone, if they'd known him for more than five minutes.

Sliding off of the bed he stood, stepping over to stand in front of Sage, simply studying him for a moment, the same slightly amused look in his jade eyes. "No, you're a person that needs to learn when to shut their karking mouth. Luckily for you..." He tangled his fingers in Sage's hair, pulling him in for a rough kiss, acting purely on impulse, which wasn't something new for him. It was how he lived every moment of his life, if he was being completely honest. Finally, he pulled away, not quite releasing him. "...I have experience with that side of things."

In the back of his mind he felt a twinge of guilt, his feelings for Cryax all too real. It was no small thing for him to say that the Chiss had completely captured his focus, which his boyfriend most certainly had. But sometimes, and usually most times, he acted before any rational thought could pass through his head.

[member="Sage Bane"]

Planting a kiss on him wasn't one of the things that Sage expected when Jalek got in his face, but when he did, there was no hesitation on the half-Chiss's part. He gladly returned the kiss with more softness than the other man, dropping the glitterstim vial and seizing Jalek's cheeks with both hands. When their lips parted, he noticed that Jalek's hands were still on him, and it made Sage raise an eyebrow. What was his brother doing leaving this gorgeous man all alone up here? Cryax was insane.

"Oh dear." Sage tsked. "You were lonely up here weren't you, Jalek," he said with a huge smile. He let his trembling hands play with the fabric at the hem of the other man's shirt. "If you were mine, I'd pay alot more attention to you than my idiot brother. Sage began to unbutton his own shirt, which was already halfway undone per his usual way of wearing it. "Now what was it you were staying about shutting my mouth?" the half-Chiss asked with an edge of smugness in his tone, blinking to show a red flashing in his irises for a moment. "As you can see I'm still talking, Jalek." Sage didn't know which thing he craved worse, the glitterstim or the beautiful redhead holding him. Perhaps the Maker would smile on him, and he'd be lucky enough to enjoy both today.

[member="Jalek Sathora"]

Unbeknownst to most, there were two halves to Jalek: his more rational side, and the one that acted purely in the moment. It didn't take much to figure out which side of him came out to play more often, and while his instinct had saved his life on more than one occasion, it had the potential to be one of his less than shining qualities. It wasn't something he necessarily prided himself in, but, well, he'd be lying if he said he was ever one to back down once something was insinuated, whatever it might have been. As he would most likely ultimately learn later, knowing when to back down would probably be something he should have educated himself in beforehand.

But right at that particular place in time he wasn't overly concerned with much of anything, besides just who it was he was talking to. At first, Sage had seemed to be almost the reluctant type, but it was plain that was all an act. Much like the Morellian, once he got his way, it seemed the other man became much more relaxed, to say the least. "You're good at running your mouth, but not so much at shutting up. Maybe you do more in your overactive imagination and never make good on any of it." He grinned crookedly, leaning in to let his lips brush across Sage's, almost making complete contact.

"I think it's your turn to make me shut up."

[member="Sage Bane"]

At Jalek's suggestion, Sage bit his lip. "Huh," he snorted. "Thought that was Cryax's job," he said and playfully pushed his brother's boyfriend down on the bed. Then he crawled over Jalek and bent down to kiss him passionately, fiercly raking his fingers through the other man's red hair, only breaking the liplock when it was time to breathe. His arm hanging over the bed, Sage swiped the vial of glitterstim off of the floor. Then he rolled onto his back.

"Just a second, while I hit this ok, beautiful?" He said, producing a lighter. The flame activated the tiny crystals which started to brighten and sparkle. The younger Bane turned towards Jalek, searching his green eyes, and slowly and deliberately tapped the half of the glitterstim crystals onto his tongue. Then smiling, still eyeing Jalek, held them in his mouth and savored them. Once the crackling stopped, his eyes rolled up into his head and he lay back down on the bed on his back.

Holding out the vial as he lay on his back, eyes closed. It tumbled from his fingers as he began to feel the rush he'd been craving. Then his lids heavy, he turned his body, positioning it so that he was facing Jalek and reached out to him, taking him in his pale lanky arms. He leaned in and softly whispered in Jalek's ear, "Now show me just what it that my brother likes so much about you."

[member="Jalek Sathora"]

Being no stranger to spice here and there, Jalek simply looked on unconcerned. Being raised by a gang instilled many things, one of them being a shaky sense of morality, if it was there at all. So nothing about the situation was bothering him just then, least of all Sage's drug habits. "There are a few things, really." Shifting his position he moved closer to the Chiss hybrid, not quite closing the gap between them just yet, having played similar games a time or two before. It was always a matter of who was on top, and with the both of them, it would be a tedious, drawn out one. He'd never been one for doing things the easy way, anyhow.

Continuing, he reached his hand out to brush across Sage's cheek, the same amused smile still on his lips, the teasing glint never quite leaving his eyes. "So you're going to have to be a bit more specific. I can think of a few things off the top of my head, one of them being this." Without hesitating further he kissed him again, slower this time, being just a bit gentler, one hand cupping his cheek. Slowly breaking the embrace he let his face hover mere centimeters from Sage's. "I'm beginning to think you're all talk."

His free hand gently toyed with a few strands of Sage's brown hair, his eyes remaining intently on his face. Had he not been so captivated by Cryax, things would have taken a much different turn already. But as it was he was still more than interested in pursuing their relationship, no matter how undependable his skills in showing such were. His idea of morality might have been skewed, but it was still there, albeit vaguely most times.

[member="Sage Bane"]

One of Sage's many flaws was his paralyzing tendency to feel sorry for himself where others would simply rise above their troubles. As Sage looked into Jalek's eyes he suddenly felt an intense jealousy towards his brother. The dumb Chiss had money, power, and a beautiful boyfriend at his beck and call. And here was Sage, inserting himself in the lives of these two men, pretending that he had anything to offer either Cryax or his boyfriend. His life felt like a sham compared to his brother's, even if the man had a damn demon in his head.

Then as Jalek leaned in and kissed him again, the other man's hand brushing against his cheek with an electrifying softness, he forgot about his self-doubt and simply yielded to the pleasure like he always did. Why worry about things when you could soothe them away with drugs, bodies, and illegal substances. The ache in his soul needed filling with something. Why not a beautiful and morally bereft slicer?

Their faces inches apart, Sage giggled and traced his hand down Jalek's chest. "I can see why Cryax likes that, yes." he said licking his lips. "Don't like talking, Jalek?" he asked with a grin. "Fine. We can just forgo the "getting to know you" small talk and get right down to it. Anyway you want it, beautiful."

[member="Jalek Sathora"]

Not usually one to talk much about his personal life, Jalek merely shrugged when Sage mentioned small talk. In his line of work the pleasantries were typically skipped and things typically took the turn straight to business. But he supposed that a bit of talk wouldn't hurt anything. "There isn't much to tell, really. Grew up on Taris, raised by a swoop gang, ended up meeting a few interesting people along the line, and here we are." At his mention of interesting individuals he looked at Sage pointedly with a raised eyebrow and a smirk.

"It's not that I mind talking necessarily, but there are other things that interest me just a bit." He kissed him again, this time letting his teeth scrape gently along the other man's lower lip, tugging gently as he pulled away. "But if you'd rather talk..." Leaning back, his smile grew crooked once more. "Then go right ahead. I'm all ears."

Reaching down he gently toyed with Sage's fingers, his tattooed hands just a bit of a contrast to the other man's skin. "I have a few extra tricks that you haven't seen before, but those are a bit of a trade secret." Yet again he brought his tongue piercing to attention, again casually, his smile more teasing than ever.

Unbeknownst to the two men, Cryax had entered the apartment as quietly as possible when the paranoid Chiss had heard the sound of voices inside. His blaster was automatically raised, as he assumed an assassin was on the prowl. As he inched into the room, his back against the wall, he was filled with shock at the scene on the bed. The Yorik-Kul in Cryax's brain was slowly making him Force dead, a tiny bit each day. Anyone with Force powers such as Jalek and Sage would have a harder time sensing his presence, and so he was able to stand there and watch for a minute while neither one of them noticed him. Once he processed what was going on, Cryax angrily jammed his blaster back in its holster, and stormed into the room, his red eyes flashing at the two men.

“What on Antecedent is going on in here?” he exclaimed, his outburst tinged with rage. He quickly moved across the room and grabbed his brother by his collar, dragging him up off the bed and giving him a fierce backhand that knocked him back so hard he went careening into the nightstand. That chuff-sucking glit-biter. Sure the man had lost his childhood, but it didn’t justify something like this.

"OUT!" Cryax commanded, his shout making the two kittens hit the deck and scramble into the other room. Sheepishly, Sage snatched up the glitterstim vial from the bed, shrugged at Jalek with a semi-apologetic expression and hurried out of the apartment.

Then Cryax turned to his boyfriend. “And you!” he said, jabbing a blue-skinned finger at the Morellian. “Are you a few starships short of a fleet? What were you doing with that Hutt slime?” Cryax growled. The crestfallen look on his face showed a deep disappointment in his boyfriend's behavior. "Seriously, Jalek. How could you?"

[member="Jalek Sathora"]

It was an extremely rare occasion when Jalek was speechless, as he was usually one to have a comment for anything and everything, with more remarks on top of that. But there were certain times when even he knew that words wouldn't do any good, which invariably included predicaments such as this one. The Morellian knew what he was feeling, but it was putting those emotions into words that caught him at a loss. Yet again another rarity, which spoke to the enormity of things. Instead he slowly, hesitantly stood, not quite meeting his boyfriend's crimson gaze with his own jade one, for all intents and purposes avoiding everything in his own way.

When he did finally speak, which was after another few minutes of stunned, sheepish silence, his voice was quiet even then. "There isn't anything to say. Apologies won't do any good at this point." He sat back down on the bed, still avoiding Cryax's gaze, his typical self-assuredness all but lost. Never one to really apologize for anything, even if it was deserved, he knew full well that his words would be hollow to the Chiss' ears. "If you're going to leave, then go ahead. I'd rather not draw things out." Some of his original sarcasm was returning, but it was still laced with a deep sense of shame.

"Just know that I still love you, Cryax." His voice was just above a whisper with these words spoken, and he met Cryax's eyes for the first time since he'd stormed into the room. "You still mean everything to me. Nothing can ever change that." He attempted a weak smile, but it faded at the look in his boyfriend's eyes, and he knew that forgiveness wouldn't come easily, if at all.

This soft side of him was rare in and of itself, as he was one known by most to be more than a little rough around the edges. "You are my world."

[member="Cryax Bane"]

Jalek's words tugged at his heart, especially since Cryax never got tired of hearing the other man profess his love. With all that had been going on in their lives, Dredge, the Yorik-Kul, his mother's return, a part of him just felt like this business wasn't worth getting that upset over. He loved Jalek. The man could probably cheat a hundred times over but it still wouldn't change the fact that Cryax would never leave him. Still, it stung to see him lavishing affection on someone else, and he had no intention of letting his boyfriend off that easy, especially because his damn brother was involved. Jalek knew he was the jealous type, kark it. His temper flared, he crossed to a nearby dresser, and with a sweep of his hands pushed everything off the top of it, sending papers, electronics and a small lamp crashing to the floor.

Cryax whirled to face his boyfriend. He badly wanted to return Jalek's sentiments, but he also wanted an explanation. "Don't draw things out, huh? Oh no. You're not getting off that easy, Red. I'm not going anywhere until you fething explain yourself."

The angry Chiss's voice was laden with sarcasm. "Let me guess. It was an accident. You tripped and fell right on his lips? Please." He sat on the bed next to the Morellian, his eyes full of hurt. "I just don't understand what you could possibly see in that glit-biting Moactan Teel. Please tell me you didn't sleep with him because you know that guy's got to have an STD."

[member="Jalek Sathora"]

Normally Jalek would have reached over and pulled Cryax closer before kissing him to shut him up, but even he knew when it wasn't the time or place for such displays of affection, and this was one where he would want to watch himself, for once. But it seemed that everything had been misinterpreted just a bit, at least in light of a few specific details. It wasn't as if that excused his actions, and he knew that he wouldn't be forgiven so easily, but the day he didn't speak in defense of himself would be a day when he was no longer alive to do so. "That was the first time we've met, let alone done anything else." He still didn't quite look his boyfriend in the eyes.

"An accident? I think you know me better than that. I karked up, I know it, and the only thing I can do is ask for forgiveness, whether you will or not. There isn't a way to explain this away, and you know that just as well as I do." It wasn't that he was trying to avoid things, but he didn't see the point in dragging things out when they could be finished in no time at all. Besides, he knew that he was probably the last person Cryax wanted to talk to, let alone be in the same room with.

Looking to the Chiss with a look of what passed for shame with him in his jade eyes Jalek spread his hands in front of him in a conciliatory gesture. "Look, I know I shouldn't have done it, and if you're going to be mad at anyone it should be me, not him, and not yourself either. I'll say it again, I still love you, Cryax, more than I thought I could love anyone. I don't know what I see in him, but in you, I see everything." He was being completely honest with his words, all but baring a part of his soul to the man.

[member="Cryax Bane"]

Jalek seemed incredibly remorseful, but the funny thing about trust was once that once it was broken even just a little bit, the cracks spread outward, like a broken window. He was relieved to hear that Jalek didn't sleep with his brother, but wasn't altogether sure that he was being told the truth. About anything. Cryax inspected his own hands on his lap, his eyes downcast. "I gave my trust to you so freely. Perhaps that was a mistake."

Not one to wallow in self-pity like Sage, he turned to face his boyfriend, his red eyes still narrowed in an accusing glare. "Is that all you can manage in the way of an explanation? You're damn right you karked up. But why? Am I not paying you enough attention?" Cryax did blame himself a bit for the whole situation. He was so damn preoccupied with this Dredge business that he hadn't been taking care of his relationship. Suddenly Cryax was struck by the sad reminder of one of the major differences between he and his brother. He looked down again with a furrowed brow. "Do my scars disgust you? Are you just getting tired of me? I just need to know why. Of all the men you could have kissed, why did it have to be my brother?"

When Jalek asked for forgiveness, Cryax sighed. "I love you too, babe, but I can't forgive you just like that." Here Cryax snapped his fingers. "But maybe. I just need a little time to build up the trust again, you know?"

[member="Jalek Sathora"]

With a shake of his head Jalek finally managed to look Cryax squarely in the eyes, having gathered his thoughts regarding just what it was he wanted to say, however ineffective his words might have been. They were his first defense in any scenario, doubly so for one where he was accused of anything. This time he might not have been on the defensive so severely as per usual, but he would still try to put things into words the best he was able. "It's hard to grow tired of someone that you want to spend the rest of your life with, which is to say the better part of another hundred years, at least. If I gave a kark about your scars, we wouldn't be here. None of this is your fault, and you know damn well it isn't."

Sighing, he laid back on the bed, closing his eyes momentarily, staring up at the ceiling when he opened them. "What do you want me to say? I know that I'm not the smartest person most times, and I do things before thinking them through more than anything. Impulse, that's the thing. It's a worthless explanation, but it's a bit hard to go back and change the way I was raised. 'Do it now, remember it later'. That was the motto, and I've never really grown out of it." He managed a bit of a smile. "Not for sixty-seven years, at least."

Now was a better time than ever to put all of his cards on the table, and he turned his head to look at Cryax once more. "Oh, and so you know, this is my first real relationship with anybody. I've had flings, one-night stands, the whole nine parsecs, but never anything serious. This is a first for me, and I guess I'm still adjusting." He sighed again. "I know, it's a sad excuse, but it's true. For what it's worth, which might not be anything at this point, I'm glad that the person I ended up being with is you. You're the best thing in my life, and the only reason I ever started caring about anything."

Slowly, he reached out a hand to brush his fingers against Cryax's. "Take all the time you need, or don't forgive me at all, but I just want you to know how I feel about you. I might not be the best at telling the truth, but everything I've said to you has been true since day one. You're more to me than just another man. A whole lot more." He smiled faintly, his voice a fraction softer now. "And you're the first one that I'm afraid to lose."

[member="Cryax Bane"]

If there was one thing about human nature that Cryax could understand, making mistakes would be high up on his list. He had made too many to count over the past few months, hell, years, including relationship mistakes. Unable to admit to himself that he was gay, he had lied to himself and many others. He had lead a young woman to believe that he loved her, and then broke up with her in the cruelest way imaginable. And none of it was planned. If he could turn back the chrono, he would have done things differently.

What genuinely surprised him was the fact that Jalek had not had a meaningful relationship in all of his decades of living, and he felt some small measure of vain pride that he was able to capture the man's heart where others couldn't. If he were as inexperienced in love as he claimed to be, wasn't Jalek allowed a pass of sorts? "I'd be a complete hypocrite if I judged you for impulsiveness," Cryax said with a smirk. "And I want to forgive you. I really do. We'll just have to see." In his mind, he was already picking out a fitting punishment for Sage. Perhaps something bad would "happen" to his pretty face. The thought made Cryax smile darkly.

When his boyfriend reached for his hand, the Chiss's first instinct was to yank it away out of hurt, but despite himself, he took the Morrellian's hand. Jalek's hand fit into his as if it were made for him, and their fingers intertwined. Cryax was such a sucker for his boyfriend, and could never stay mad at him for that long. He found that his need for the man outweighed his apprehension, and he melted. "Jalek, every time I see you, I fall for you all over again." he said. "I can't imagine life without you, Red. I'm probably the stupidest man alive for saying this, but you're not going to lose me. Ever." Then, he titled his head in for a kiss.

[member="Jalek Sathora"]

If anyone thought that Jalek couldn't be surprised any more, then they would have been proved wrong in that moment. Despite his own skewed morality, there were things that even he would have a hard time forgiving, and something like this had to be one of them. But, when their lips met in a kiss, he decided that he couldn't complain much about any of it. If it meant that Cryax would stay with him, he would do anything to assure that. In his life, being certain about what he wanted was never a regular, everyday thing, if it was one at all. But he was sure of one thing, and it was that he wanted the Chiss beside him every step of the way in whatever the two might face.

Once they broke their embrace, there was still a moment or two of silence, in which he didn't feel quite comfortable just yet. "I wouldn't say you're the stupidest man alive." His same crooked smile returned. "You're here with me, after all. I've been karking up longer than you've been alive, Blue." He gently toyed with Cryax's fingers, enjoying the familiar feeling of their hands clasped together. If this experience had taught him anything, it was how much he truly and completely loved the man whose hand he was holding.

Some of his original self-assured attitude was returning, but he was slowly testing the boundaries, instead of jumping right into things as he typically would. "I didn't think I'd made such an impression on you. I'm not really used to anyone caring much beyond a fling here and there. Being committed isn't usual for me, is what I'm trying to say, and having the other guy return the feelings is odd, too. I might slip up, I might not be the best boyfriend you could ask for, and I know that my idea of boundaries when it comes to anything aren't the greatest. But one thing I do know is that I love you, and nobody else can change that."

On his way out the apartment, Sage had swiped not only more glitterstim, but also an old Datapad of his brother's. Scrolling through the Chiss's contact information he came across Jalek's number and sent him a text.
