This planet resonates with the dark side of the Force…

Maja listened to it all. There seemed a lot to take in. The woman that first told her she was Force-sensitive had explained the Light and Dark aspects but spells and magic and magick? She did her best to keep up and not bombard her host with too many questions.

But she had in her mind the concept of the Force and also a spirit. At least that’s how it seemed to her. Some couldn’t affect nature and some could. It all seemed far removed from just using your will – but it fascinated her. The idea of a book of spells seemed exciting – albeit she figured it wouldn’t be as simple as remembering a few lines.

Maja’s head cocked to one side at the question. “We can…communicate though visions. Have a conversation really. But this only ever happened powerfully once. The day I was found to be Force-sensitive and first connected to the Force. Maybe it was because that ability had been awakened? And sometimes I see what she’s doing – through her eyes. Or I can feel a great emotion of hers. The closer we are, the less dramatic the effect has to be for me to sense it – and vice versa. But I always know it’s her. Just like I just knew she was my sister when we met. I can’t explain it – I just…knew.” She shrugged at her own inability to vocalise what she felt.

“Otherwise my visions are random on the surface but when I review them – for I can remember them vividly – there is always a reason for them. And I simply know they’re mine. Again, I just know the three I described were linked. The first two were old. They were in some very small way linked to Grievous, and I suspect me being at the caverns on Kashyyk were the catalyst. Maybe they were of an old witch or Nightsister? One who knew Grievous? My vision of you was probably current and still connected. It’s purpose, I presumed, was to inform me that I had to come here."

The first piece of Maja’s remarks reminded Petra of her kids. There were triplets that shared a single mind. That was an extreme case but there were twins, a few sets, that show lesser signs of a link. Petra had studied them all. She understand there could be the existance of a link for Maja and her sister. The only times she had a connection to others where her five Optivus Res because had happen an old Sith ritual that bounded them to her.

However her thoughts and walking stop when she heard Grievous, it was name she linked to failure on her part. Her clan was more neutral and kept themselves when regarding Dathomirian affairs. Also she was off world working on her businesses and cult during the Clone Wars. As much she marches around saying how important Dathomir is and protecting it, that era right before the rise of the Galactic Emrpire was her chance to really protect the world but Witches were massacre.

“Nightsisters were idoits than... Mother Talzin shouldn’t have dealt with the Sith. It was a slap in my face when I spoke my mind with her, but sadly the massacre that the puppet Grievous led was a told you so that I did not want to fall on them. That sect became a footnote to the long history of Nightsisters mistakes which I have join that too... But... puppet Grievous’ attack showed so many failures in our ways that a genocide did nothing in uniting the clans.” Petra coldly with despression and sadness laced words came forth. Then she continued to walk on and adding, “We’ll not speak more on that subject.” It was more aimed at not wanting to expand on Grievous.

Maja’s eyebrow raised. Perhaps it was something in the water, but the woman speaking to her was looking good for her age. But then she’d experienced races that lives to an obscene age and experienced magic that defied the ageing process – but regardless, it was still impressive to see and hear.

And she was street-wise enough to know when a subject was closed – even without her hosts final words. So she nodded and wondered if she should keep quiet totally or just avoid that subject. But being Maja, she couldn’t shut up for long. Plus it was a subject she needed to know more about.

“Tell me. Nightsisters, witches, Light, Dark? How does it all work around here. Are the clans you speak of similar or do they have different views on important subjects. Please forgive my ignorance, but I didn’t want it to stand in the way of asking for knowledge. It’s a…you know…virtuous circle. If I don’t ask I don’t know. But in asking I appear foolish. And so I’ve bitten the bullet – colour me foolish.” She smiled in the hope of softening the clearly basic question that she probably should already know about.

“Don’t fret, child… your ignorance is fine since you are looking through a window into another world that could be viewed as the entire galaxy smashed into one planet.” Petra replied first with. She was fine with the questions. Educating outsiders to better understand their ways, it reduced conflict that could be started from stealing rancors or killing a Dathomirian. That was drama which at that moment in time was not needed.

Petra continued to answer Maja. “For what is light or dark in the sense of what you might understand, the Nightsisters are dark; however, we don’t see our ways in that manner. We are who we are as we follow my leadership and Dathomirian ways. The clans like Singing Mountain or Dreaming River follow Allya’s teachings, who was an exile Jedi more than the old ways. For the clans that we call Allyan Clans, there are fourteen of them. Meanwhile there are six clans that have taken Allya’s teachings and added to the old ways with Nightsisters being ruling clan over them all. With me so far?”

Maja nodded as Petra continued to explain. She had a hunch the Nightsisters were considered Dark, but then always understood that perception was king – or should that be queen? We all see ourselves in a relatively neutral light, it is others we perceive to be different.

“So…” she replied, to check she understood. “You have taken the teachings of the Book of Law,” it appeared Maja had certainly done some homework, “The book of magic and spells of Allya but that also contains moral and ethical regulations, and you’ve added to that knowledge – eschewing the concept of good and evil. And these additional ways of the Nightsisters could be considered Dark arts?”

"Fourteen clans follow Allya's teachings explicitly and six have added the Nightsister's ways."

She wrinkled her nose. “Have I got it so far?”
