This ship don't stop there anymore. [Sarge]

"I've known Ayden Cater for... four hundred years? I'm not sure the time dilation, entirely. Regardless he is... not quite who everyone thinks he is." He smiled wistfully, eyes drifting down as he brushed his fingertips over his kneecap pensively. Eyes momentarily glossing over, he finally nods.

"I was her bodyguard at the start. Ayden and I were in business together," and that was such a cliffnote version of that story it was nearly an outright lie, "and he and I went to her office, back when she was just running a mercenary outfit. Wanted to offer her a deal; a merger. I broke in, he followed after. She used the Force to choke me, and threatened to throw me out of the window behind her...." His shoulders lifted into a shrug, eyes moving upward to Hazel as the left corner of his lips quirked upward.

"Maybe an... eighty storey drop? I'm not sure. I am sure I asked her on a date while my airway constricted. I was by her side for quite some time after that, though she never really let on what feelings she may have had for me besides a general, pervasive annoyance."

"Mmf," was the Merc's rebuttal to the story, "sounds like a handful," and a smirk to boot, she sipped at her drink. The mention of her use of the Force was something of a sore subject for her, but she'd be a goddamned hypocrite if she said anything against seeing someone capable of using it. At least, at this point she would be. Ten years ago, not so much.

"So you eventually wore her down with your charm and persistence, right?" at this her mouth grew into a half-grin, teeth just showing through.

"Uhm...." he frowned for a moment, the corners of his lips pulled back in towards his cheeks when he bit the inside of his lip. "...persistence, maybe?" He shrugged a shoulder. "I really don't know, and she'll never tell."

"Sounds like the makings of a Sunday morning Holo-drama to me," the woman chuckled, "I'd watch it."

"You two a pair then? Got kids? Dog? White picket fence?" That was the dream, wasn't it? Or something romanticized by those Sunday morning holo-dramas, anyway. Ivy wouldn't mind living that dream now but she was about 500 years late and a million lightyears away from it.

The smile that ghosted over his face last no longer than the flicker of a candle. "Yes, a pair." He remarks dryly, "And I do have a dog - a Renan Bloodwolf that I got off [member="Danger Arceneau"]." He actually smiled at that. She was a good girl, though she'd become more of a town dog than a home-dog. That would have been the wolf genes in her, he assumed.

"More of a wall than a fence, though. Lake Country isn't really made for fences."

Another low laugh, "I suppose fences disrupt the flow of scenery..."

Ivy gave a deep, sighing breath, "I miss having a dog. Haven't been able to find another yet," a brow lofted towards him, "what's a Bloodwolf like? Never heard of them."

"Rather spirited." He admits, tipping his head to one side. After a moment, he went to dig out a datapad before realizing it wouldn't do the wolf justice. "Well, they tend to be more rust colored than anything. You wouldn't really be able to tell them from any other wolf save for the fact their canines are impressively large. Out of proportion to their head, actually - very pronounced. Get their name cause their teeth are rust colored; I keep thinking she's got an infection or something but I have to remind myself that's just the color they are."

"Huh," a thoughtful look took the Mercenary's face, metallic hand lifting to rub at her chin, "you know I actually ran into Lying Hound a few months back. Strangest thing," she wasn't sure what made her recall the fact. Maybe the description of rust-colored fangs made her think of Nadir's rust-colored skyline.

Or the grinning skull emblem emblazoned across the helmet of Lye's new partner.

"Tooling around with that one Merc on Nadir now -" she snapped her fingers, trying to jog her memory, "the one that was on the cover of Badass Today ... Aver Brand. Recognized me and everything, it was like we never got separated. Hard to see 'im with a new partner though. Felt a bit like being cheated on."

"Time has a curious habit of folding in on itself." He replied, as if that should make perfect sense. Taking a moment to swirl the liquid around in his glass, he took a brief, casual sip just to break up the conversation.

"You never realize what a moment really is until it's behind you."
