Kay-Larr
Sphaera Tea Company Owner
The first thing that Kay realized when she drifted back into consciousness was that the power was out. She could hear sparks and the crackling of fire a short distance away, perhaps on the other side of the walls of the small transport that she was in. The ship had crashed in the mountainous forested region of Surron. Kay was visiting for a diplomatic meeting, or at least that was on the schedule.
During the transport's decent to the surface, a couple of small explosions disabled the controls, sending it careening through the trees. Only the quick actions of the pilot, putting the thrusters into reverse was able to save the vessel from exploding on impact. Still, it wasn't going to be flying again. A crash beacon was sent out, signalling their location. Unless the signal was somehow jammed, they'd only have a few hours to wait until their rescue would come.
Kay's head pounded as she sat up, blood dripping down from a gash on her forehead, yet she paid it no mind as her eyes fell to the broken body of one of her guards. His neck was twisted in an unnatural way, while his left femur portruded out of his uniform. It was enough to almost make her sick. Were the others dead too? She got to her feet and made her way through the transport, smoke mixing with the oxygen, causing her lungs to burn and her eyes to sting.
A door hung open to the outside, or was it a hole? Kay made her way to it, squinting her eyes as the snow on the ground reflected the light of the day. Once they had adjusted, she jumped out into the snow. At least it wasn't too deep. She landed only half a foot in. And so had someone else. A set of footprints led away from the crashsite. Perhaps one of her guards had gone off to collect firewood? She wasn't entirely sure. But one thing was for certain; she needed to get away from the crashsite in case the ship exploded. So off in the woods she went, following the footprints of another survivor.
