Founder’s day on Ryloth: the event was marked by a great parade, and many across the confederacy had come to participate., To the natives of Ryloth, it was a day to celebrate the liberation of their world from past oppressions and to once again live free and enjoy life. The Twi’leks knew the definition of the word slavery well, the true pain and suffering it brought, too often in their past they had suffered this barbarism as it was inflicted upon them at one point or another. This was part of the reason the Mandragora took part, being able to in a small way bring joy to the Twi’lek people to remind them of the bond that had been forged between the Confederacy and this beautiful vibrant world that Julra now called home.
The smiles and laughter of the children were infectious, so much that they were managing to calm the emotions in her own heart. In this moment even the darkness of the Nether could not wipe the smile for Julra’s lips as she dazzled the children with brightly colored spells to delight and wonder the young, happy and full of light in their eyes perhaps in some small way she envied them having a childhood she herself never had. A childhood that could never have been for a descendant of Dathomir; hers was hardship and trial but even then it was hers and she clung to it like one particular Twi’lek child that caught her eye clung to her mother scared of the young witch and her brightly colored spells.
Julra knelt low as she turned her eyes to the young girl and motioned her forward, it would not do for the child to fear the unknown as much as the young one was part of Ryloth. Both Julra and the Mandragora were a part of this world too; it was her home. She spoke softly to the young girl “Dao circaa eoh uru, dan ohk karkirjae” (“Come here little one, you are safe”) carefully the child edged toward Julra never more than a gentle smile on Julra’s lips, when the girl finally reached her she smiled all the more and held out her hand toward her, open and palm up.
Julra closed her hand quietly drawing the girl’s attention she gently showed her hand, in her palm a was a small pile of snow. Quickly she closed her hand before again before then opened it, the snow had formed into a small snowman. Closing her hand a third time, she waited a bit longer before opening her hand once more, and in her hand was a complete snowman; not just any snowman, but a special one that perhaps only Julra was capable of. What even Julra didn’t know was that this snowman would take days, maybe even weeks before time began to flow around it normally again as such it would hold to its frozen state far longer than it should. She gently placed it in the young girls hand, saying as she did so, “A nima toe dan vie uru, sahak ceh dan ohk karkirjae vil dan ohk jemae vil gan cahsinark yei tlosank gei zen'ka” (A gift for you dear one, do not fear you are safe and you are free”)
The young Twi’lek girl wrapped Julra in a hug and she returned the gesture, a warmth filled the witches heart that she had not felt in some time, it was refreshing, it felt good perhaps the girl sensed Julra needed it perhaps as much as she. One thing she had learned was to never underestimate the people of Ryloth. As the young girl released her from the hug she returned her smile and watched as the young Twi’lek was led away by her mother and waved goodbye turning back to the rest of the children whom other witches had taken to entertaining while she was distracted.
In usual fashion however the joyful and peaceful times were never long, tragic as it were the tone in the air shifted suddenly, Julra did not know as of yet what had happened but the laughter and the joy had given way to silence, then whispers and then an overriding sense of dread. She turned sharply, her eyes scanning around her anger flashed upon the young witches face as she turned in time to see in all its horror a video feed on a nearby screen, only just shielding the eyes of the children with an illusion as the blade fell against the neck of Elav Doneeta, she quickly scanned the crowd again and saw many began to move in earnest. Quickly she turned and signaled the witches closest to her “Reunite them with the families then set wards around the city. Protect the people of Ryloth.” She turned and her eyes scanned the crowd again; part of her sought out the child she had told was safe only moments ago. Yet, for now, she needed to find the Nightmother if she was not already aware.
It would not be long before she found the Nightmother, and in typical fashion, she was already well informed another time she might have smiled or even laughed but no not in this moment the rage on the young witches face was evident to the Nightmother who knew her so well. Today would be a very bad day to be on Ryloth with ill intent. ”I sent some of our sisters to reunite the children with their parents. What do we do first?”
