Astrid snorted at her packmate’s response and shook her head. Perhaps now wasn’t the appropriate time for joking, not in the eyes of the elders, but neither Astrid nor Redd cared enough to think about it. Laughter was the best medicine to ease the panic. Gerwalds voice cut over their conversation. His command forced Astrid to double her efforts. The elders were beginning to panic, and no wonder. It was easy to see the concern etched into Confederate faces.

BOOM!

An explosion rocked the walls of the mansion, forcing Astrid to steady herself on a near by table. The room was blanketed in a layer of thick dust and smoke, causing several people to hack and cough, but none were heard over the sudden, blaring alarms. Astrid reached out to place a comforting hand on the nearest elder’s shoulder, but before her fingertips could even grace their robes…

BOOM!

“Yes, I have this!” She responded with a firmer and more confident tone than even she had expected, but there it was. Astrid lunged for the door to the clansmoot. A stream of elders followed after her, shuffling their quickest across the road to the safety of the underground bunker. As the door closed behind them, Astrid let out a sigh of relief. Untill…

BOOM!

Another explosion.

Almost on queue, Gerwald confirmed his orders. So the bunkers were no longer safe, and the evacuation sites were their goal. Astrid remembered Redd saying something about the evac sites, but what the hell were Lyleks? There was no time to think about it. Astrid shouldered the door open and let a wave of burning red heat and blinding light rush into the bunker. The elders were not long behind as she crossed the street, one pale hand directing them through the winding streets toward the nearest evac site.

Astrid put her arm up, blocking the path of the slowly shuffling Elders. Her other hand slowly made its way to the hilt of the silvery blade resting on her back. The unmanned lylek growled a deep, guttural click at her movements. Astrid responded with her own, baring sharp white teeth. ”Reeeeedd…” Her voice called out, full of uncertainty, to her fellow sister through the magics they both shared. ”There is an overgrown mutant beetle in our way…”

Another rumbling had the walls shaking and soon they would be buried if they weren’t careful. Her gaze shifted to Metus’s wife, only to look towards Metus himself just as her hand rose to unhook the lightsaber from her belt. Icy blue eyes narrowed upon Gerwald as he barked his orders. Did he really think that she was here for everyone else when there were two perfectly good women who should be able to maintain some semblance of defense of the elders. Could they manage? If they were here she should hope so. At least those called Redd and Astrid seemed to manage just fine. As for the boy… Her gaze shifted to Jason. It was Jason wasn’t it? Admittedly, she wasn’t there for him. The only reason she was here, was for Metus, the woman didn’t remember signing up to…

Drawing in a breath, she drew herself back into a state of calm. Gerwald failed to mention how one life was the future. In fact, she was sure that without Metus, their faction would be in very real trouble. Could the Viceroyalty and Monarchs pick up the pieces? Not that the Vicelord couldn’t handle himself, but if he fell then she didn’t hold much faith in the others. Politics was not her cup of tea and she would rather stay amongst the shadows watching Metus’s back. Her free, gloved hand reached out to lightly take Jason’s shoulder and her icy blue eyes peered into his own eyes. ”Follow those two and if you can, help with the Elders.” She paused to point her unlit lightsabre into the direction of the two women and Elders. ”Also, do your best not to get killed.” Shalita said as she gently patted his shoulder.

Well if anything, I’m sure that I have my answer now, the woman thought to herself as she nudged him along with the hand that had been resting upon his shoulder. ”I'm definitely not mother material,” she muttered to herself as she turned upon her heels to follow the path of Metus, his wife and Gerwald while her lightsabre suddenly lit. Her booted feet carried her form out of the building and the heat felt like a slap to the face. It was indeed what she had originally thought it was. A heat storm and a silent curse was upon her lips. Why did Metus have to play the hero all of the time? However she knew why and it was partly why she had such a great deal of respect for the man.

He was the light for those within the Confederacy, offering hope when some did not believe that there was hope and that was something that no one could take from them. Her own steps fell in behind Gerwald. He may have given her what some would call an order, but in her eyes, it was her family that needed her more. It may only be in name, but Metus was her family and she wasn’t about to ignore that. Besides, as she watched the man kneel to touch what she could only imagine was a burning hot pavement, she knew that she was where she was supposed to be. The Shi’ido felt the ground underneath her rumble with the upheaval and she heard the sounds of the debris as the dome cracked under the pressure.

His wife seemed to help her brother in a way that she could not fully comprehend and debris continued fall, some even fell from the manor nearby. Her free, gloved hand reached out and the force flowed through her to grab the falling debris in mid air. With a quick sweep of her arm, she tossed the debris aside before she lost her grip upon it. Whatever was happening, whatever ritual was happening, she wasn’t about to let it be interrupted by anything.

Then, although the heat was strong, beating against her bod; a chill slithered down her spine and her eyes narrowed. Something was coming and the chill was just the beginning. Elyria's words was just the conformation.

There was no time to do anything big before the emerald blade nearly sliced her down, and Scherezade just moved backwards, eyes bewildered. The screams of the large creature as she arrived were heard, yet Scherezade could not feel her in the Force. Force dead?, she wondered. Another option would've been one of those void stones or an yslamari, but she didn't feel as though she herself was severed from the Force.

Her hands moved quickly and she grabbed the Tessen, switching it into its heavy sword option. You didn't fight a tin can who could turn you into a pancake with a hammer by using a little dagger. Not if you wanted to reasonably survive without relying on a miracle, anyway.

Eyes squinting, there was something about the voice and the specific shape and size of the attacker that was vaguely familiar, but as Scherezade's Blood Hound abilities were blocked on her, there was no way to know for certain yet.

"So are you agreeing that the Confederacy is an Empire?" Scherezade asked as she launched forward, aiming her blade with both hands to come down from her right side in a diagonal line to the left, hopefully to hit the large woman in the weak spot between neck and shoulder, "Or are you from some other Empire I've recently pissed off?"

The door that she and Luna Vega Luna Vega never got to knock opened, and someone came through. There were words, but Scherezade couldn't really focus on them much right there and then considering the fight had already started. There was little reason to assume a Mandragora would be there to be friendly though, so she simply shouted "Take a number!" at her and moved forward, the Force aiding her in both speed and strength as she aimed to catapult straight into Lirka, just like a wrecking ball.

With the former battlecruiser breaking up in the atmosphere, its calculated trajectory placed it landing harmlessly in the Bright Lands, the majority of the vessel seemed to break apart as the tractor beams pulled at the pieces. Keeping a trained eye on the progress, she nodded quietly when it was more apparent that the vessel no longer posed a threat to Ryloth or its people.
"Make a note where the debris falls, we'll send in a cleanup crew when its feasible to do so to clean up the area and salvage anything of use. For now, we've got other things to worry about. Recall the Providence Carrier, and have the Far Star Station return to standby readiness. Let's focus on getting these transports down to the Bio-Dome."
"Ma'am, Exarch Srina Talon Srina Talon is contacting us, requesting confirmation on the situation and additional evacuation vessels."
Bringing a hand up to her chin, she nodded quietly as she turned away from the large viewscreen before her. Vessels had been dispatched to assist those that required it, even moving towards the AoC fleet to render assistance where needed. Though with Dimitri Lindzinsky waving them off, she understood that while the offer was made, it was ultimately their decision to decline.
"Exarch, additional medical and general transports are on their way to the Bio-Dome. We have five medical frigates on standby awaiting to assist those showing signs of heat exhaustion or burns. We've also noted several unmarked vessels attempting to make a run for the planet. We are in the process of turning them back at this moment. Additional vessels are inbound to your location to assist in getting as many individuals out of harm's way as possible."
With a heavy sigh, she looked back to the large screen, motion to open up a general line of communication with the AoC fleet; as well as with their vessels to start pulling them back.
"This is the Confederacy Grand Marshal, we understand your hesitation though will not press the matter. All vessels will divert away from your fleet and starfighters. Colonel ( Kathryn Foster Kathryn Foster ), withdraw your flight back to the fleet, all other vessels will return to position."
"Ma'am, incoming fleet!"
They didn't even get the chance to act as a line of picket vessels dropped out of hyperspace above Ryloth. A handful of the transports that had made it close to the AoC fleet didn't stand a chance, a few of them smashing into the picket vessels that had just dropped in out of nowhere only to unleash an attack. A few of the transports were lucky, quickly able to divert away, though others weren't as such, slamming into the canisters and nets that had been fired.
"All transports, divert to Ryloth, I repeat, divert to Ryloth."
Before another command could be given, she watched as a burst of enemy fire crossed the bow of her vessel. Though it was deemed a warning shot, it was the opening challenge, and now with the rules of engagement having been met, they were more than capable of unleashing a response. Though before another order could be given, a soft smirk crossed her lips.
"Ma'am, weapons fire from Ryloth is being directed to the picket vessels that have just arrived. We've also got a message incoming from Exarch John Locke John Locke , that a fleet from Siskeen will be arriving shortly to assist in the evacuation of the Bio-Dome. Commander Conall Rhorik has also arrived with the reserve fleet and is forming up as ordered."
Nodding as she returned to the newly established fray, the next threat to deal with was that which was presented by the Magnepulse Bombs that had just been released and were drifting their way from the nearby Star Cruiser.
"Tho Yor Star Destroyer, full Proton Torpedo spread across the flight path of those bombs, follow it with a salvo from your Dual Heavy Turbolaser Cannons. Target the Star Cruiser, focus on their Engines and Hyperdrive with your Heavy Ion Cannons. All vessels prepare your Starfighters for deployment, though hold until the order is given. Gunners, focus fire on the fleet's lead vessel, broadside salvo from our Long-Range Dual Heavy Turbolaser Turrets. Brace yourselves for incoming fire."
The Fleet was rather lucky in the regard that contrary to the beliefs of many, they hadn't been pulled out of position and had remained in their original setup from when they first arrived. And while they'd been awaiting the other side to fire first, they were by no means unprepared for engagement from an enemy vessel or fleet. Turning her attention towards the orbital platform, her smirk remained upon her lips, a hint of her fang showing, though since the situation with the Golden Lance had been resolved, the brilliant blue hues that had taken over were slowing reverting to their normal Golden-Yellow tone. The intense emotions she had been feeling were fleeting, fading away as she was able to once more focus on the here and now.
"Fleet Marshal Tyrias Aran Tyrias Aran , Its time to get the Gungnir Orbital Station into the fray. Utilize it to target the enemy fleet that just arrived, focus on their command vessel. Have the Far Star station bring their Starfighter Squadrons up and set them to standby, when the time comes, we'll unleash them as needed. Remember, our focus is on those vessels that have just opened fire, the AoC fleet is to remain untouched until they decide to open fire."
Her attention returned to the fleet, watching as the vessels were bracketed with the fire of Turbolaser Cannons and Ion Cannons, the majority of the vessels were lucky, multiple shield generators assisted in handling the brunt of the fire. Though a few were still experiencing problems from the earlier explosion. At least one of the Attack Vessels had been momentarily disarmed, its weapon systems experiencing problems, though the same could not be said for the second Corvette. It had been unlucky enough to be hit with an Ion Cannon burst, its shields down, it lit up in a brilliant explosion as a Turbolaser bolt tore into the vessel. A low growl escaped her lips.
She had been holding back, showing that she didn't want a fight, though now she was forced into one, and the individual that had forced her hand was not about to have a good day. She'd already lost too many people and now it was her turn to strike out, though she did not relish the chance to bring death to an enemy; and though she acted with a heavy hand in response, it was always done with a feeling of regret that she'd be tearing families apart.
"Helmsmen, realign the E'care Shukur with their primary fleet, Once we're in position, unleash the Proton Beam Cannon on their command vessel."
"Yes, Ma'am."
Slowly she brought her hands behind her back and watched as the large Super Star Destroyer, and the fleet began to reorient itself for a better shot on the new fleet that had just engaged them.
  • Disengaging the Golden Lance debris; noting its location for later cleanup crews to remove debris and salvage anything of use
  • Confirmed with Exarch Talon that evacuation vessels are heading to Bio-Dome
  • Medical and General Transports dispatch to assist AoC fleet are being diverted to Ryloth
  • Some support craft destroyed due to Picket Vessels arrival and subsequent weapons deployment
  • Tho Yor II Star Destroyer unleashed a barrage of Proton Torpedoes and Dual Heavy Turbolaser Cannons targeting Magnepulse Bombs
  • Fleet Marshal Aran and Commander Rhorik are free to engage as they see fit
  • Starfighters set to standby
  • Orbital Station and Military Station being prepared to engage the enemy
  • E'care Shukur unleashed broadside of Long-Range Dual Heavy Turbolaser Cannons, reorienting vessel to engage the enemy fleet

Predatory instinct burned like an inferno within her warped form, muscles pulsated and spasms rocked her form all the same. It took every single fiber of Lirka's being not to immediately fling herself forward in a killing-rage, uncaring for what happened around her. But her will was absolute, reality obeyed the strong. And she was greater than all this chaff, the machinery of the Kaminoians would find no quarter, death will find no quarter, this degenerate trash that surrounded her would find no quarter.

She heard their voices, it annoyed her. The words of mortals that lacked finery, like knives rammed into her ears. The helmeted figure snapped her head towards Sabine Delacroix Sabine Delacroix and snarled a simple command: oozing barely contained hate for all parties present.

"Be silent, dog."

Eyes returned forward to her quarry, the set of dissident trash that had fallen before her. Hearing the voice and words of Scherezade deWinter Scherezade deWinter filled her with a mocking, humored, nostalgia. How sweet it was to see she had not been the only one to fall from the Confederate fold to go play with the rats. Though the words of Luna Vega Luna Vega instead made Lirka all the more eager to destroy them. Obnoxious mortals. But she began to pace, ever so slightly while Scherezade spoke, and laughed. A low, deep, chuckle.

"You forget so easily, Scherezade. We stood once, side by side. Standing proud as Confederate dogs! Great warriors of their innumerable legions of meatshields and tools...but it seems you have fallen to the sad fate of so many: throwing your lot it with disgusting terrorists and rebel trash. A shame, maybe my Emperor will enjoy me bringing your head to him. Lirka Ka stands before you! Exalt in knowing I am your annihilation!"

Lirka was even able to take a hint of pride in the fury the Rebel brought against her, her massive blade: burning with the electro-plasma filament that left it shrieking through the air clashed against the Tessen when the two launched forward: two wrecking balls, two unstoppable forces slamming together with might in their bones. One, a creature of the Force, the other? A monster, grown in a laboratory and warped to destroy. Lirka let herself laugh, allowing her grasp on reality to slip: it was time to destroy, that was all.

"Outstanding!"

Tap, tap, tap. Drum.

Daegon did not hear it. It was small, soft, light. The sound refused to penetrate the blinding rage which was threatening to consume him. The delegation had come to help Derek Dib find a solution to his dilemma. They had been there to negotiate possible secession. Daegon had readied himself for the actuality that it might happen. He did not wish, he did not understand the desire or request. Most of all, Daegon did not understand why his friend had not reached out to him first.

The others were there because it was their duty to do so. Daegon was there because Derek Dib Derek Dib was his friend.

Silence.

It was all Daegon could hear.

Tap, tap, tap.

His exhortation had gone unanswered by those across the table from them. Where Seraphina’s heart sank, Daegon had expected this response. Never once did he believe peace was what they sought. Had peace truly been the intent of Alwine Daye Alwine Daye , @Anassara, and Larentia Larentia , and their allies, they would have immediately condemned the acts of terror and turned their focus on those who would threaten the lives of the very innocents they feigned to liberate.

They were hypocrites at best, and most certainly fraudulent.

His mind reached out so only his friend could hear.

<<”Nothing they promise can be trusted, Derek. How quick they are to remain silent when given the chance to prove they mean peace. Had it served their purpose, Siskeen would currently be no different than Ryloth.”>>

Daegon did not understand. He did not know. His friend was playing a game. He kept looking at his chornometer. Why? What was his friend waiting for, why was he stalling?

Suddenly it was time.

Derek gave his answer after one last attempt given by @Visanj T’shkali. She was an example of a world which was located outside of Confederacy space and influence, yet not only had they aligned their interests, they supported the Confederacy.

Today the bonds that bind us in perpetuity with the Confederacy of Independent Systems are destroyed.

This time the silence was on the part of the bacta mogul. He did not know how his friend could come to such a hasty and foolish decision. Dib was no fool, and even moreso he was not stupid. This decision displayed both foolishness and stupidity. Had he not heard the arguments of the other delegation. Siskeen was on the border. His would be the first to face the threat of the Brynadul. Alone, they would all perish. One system alone could not stand up to the threat.

Teeth clenched together as Daegon bit his tongue. The last thing he wanted to do was berate his friend’s decision in front of this group. He would do as he must for now, and when it was more convenient he would speak to Derek in a way that only a friend could. That conversation would not be diplomatic in any sense.

John Locke John Locke spoke, ever the politician. He was a man Daegon needed to get to know, if for nothing more than the monetary investment he could make into the bacta trade. The mogul was always in need of investors willing to give capital toward new projects. After all, Daegon was still paying for the debacle that had seen his guests turn into the walking dead.

Perhaps he would be the one to finish the game of chess which remained unfinished between Dib and the Demon of Thyferra.

The red gaze in Daegon’s eyes began to twist color once more. Hatred, anger, malice, these were feelings that the Sith often felt, but this was something else entirely.

Betrayal.

As his eyes set to his friend, no one else was in the room. His anger had made him deaf. This betrayal left him blind. The storm was brewing, and it was nearing the point of release. How could his friend be so flippant. Derek was not just leaving the Confederacy, he was leaving Thyferra. The bonds he spoke of, the ones that tied them to the Confederacy were also the bonds of friendship. Had he broken those too?

It was the smallest of sensations, but the most intimately familiar.

The Angel of Thyferra [ Seraphina Corvinus Seraphina Corvinus ] placed a hand over the Demon’s heart. Daegon closed his eyes and let out a breath. Her words were their words. In this moment she would be their voice. Daegon did wish his friend well. Thyferra would support Siskeen. At least Derek’s ears had not been deaf to Daegon’s plea for aid. A small nod was offered in agreement with the sentiments expressed by the tiny diathim.

Calm.

Peace.

Tap, tap, tap.

Drum.

Redd heard the odd woman’s words that were whispered to the Vicelord, but her priority had been made the Elders ever since the celebration had first been disrupted. So, she paid no mind to her words or the fact that the Vicelord and woman had left. Another explosion rocked the foundations and she felt it rumble. No, she heard the rumblings of the earth as it heaved around them; groaning in response to the unsettling events that were unfolding at a rapid rate and she almost froze as she listened to the sounds.

As they made their way outside and long the streets, Redd made sure that Jason was in amongst the pack of Elders as she felt the full force of the heat beat against her. If she wasn’t sweating already, she could have sworn that even her hands had begun to sweat and shake. Her hand reached out for a solid wall to lean against as she shook and tried to shake off yet another flashback that threatened to overcome her yet again. ”Not again… Not a...” As hard as she fought against the gripping terror, it pulled her back under yet again.

The heat of the flames as they began to burn hot, almost singed her red fur as she coughed and struggled to see through the thick haze of smoke. One paw was placed in front of the next as she attempted small barks, but the smoke just clogged up her throat and it was all that she could taste upon her tongue. Her parents! She saw her father’s throat slain but what about her mother? Her mother had just been lying upon the ground. Where were they? A whine was emitted from the young pup as she stumbled through the wreckage of what she once called home.

Astrid’s voice pulled her out and her nails bit into the skin of her palms so to feel the slight pain and level her thinking if only for a moment. Her golden gaze snapped to Astrid then and she made her way through the group to where the other wolf stood. A hand reached up to lightly place it upon Astrid’s hand that moved towards the weapon and she shook her head in a silent no. With her free hand she reached out towards the Lylek and drew a deep breath to steady her shaking form. Once steady, the lupine drew upon the force and reached out to the snarling beast before them within that force. Golden eyes bared down upon the insectoid as a soft growl rumbled from within the woman.

Once she was sure that she had connected with the beast through the force, she commanded it to turn and walk away. To leave their group alone. At first the beast shrieked, but Redd gave her command a push through the force towards the beast, to impose her will upon it, her dominance and the beast slowly began to back away before it retreated. Only to disappear around a corner. Drawing in a breath she looked to the side and spied a door to a tunnel leading downwards to their evac point. Her booted steps carried her form over to the door and pulled it open. ”Quick! Astrid, you need to lead them down through this tunnel, it should take us straight there while also minimizing the heat to the Elders. Jason, you need to stay with the Elders, help them as much as possible to make haste. I… Will… Bring up the rear.” Redd said through gritted teeth as she felt an incredible urge to shift and unleash the wolf within.

”Go.” She growled as she slumped against the wall next to the door as the heat pounded against her bare skin and yet again, she lost the fight against another flashback.

Her eyes watered with the stinging feeling of smoke within them and created another barrier for the pup to overcome. As she stumbled and fell once more, she whined and struggled back to her paws. Her strength was beginning to fade as smoke began to fill her lungs, until the only thing that she could taste was ash and soot. That was until she stumbled over once again. Yet as she tried to pull herself up, she felt fur against fur and a sticky substance upon her nose. She almost didn’t recognize the scent as her sense of smell was so disorientated, but it was the scent of her parents.

Through watery eyes she saw her father’s dead body trying to cover her mother’s but only successfully covered her neck. His throat that had been slashed open, had sprayed red all through their collective fur. Brown and blonde were tainted with the colour red. No… Get up. Get up! She called silently to them as her little muzzle nuzzled at their lifeless forms, to try and get them to move. However it was futile, even she knew that, not even she could hear their heartbeats. It was a great deal of effort for the little pup to lift her nose and find a choked voice to howl, but howl she did. When the sound finally died, the young pup crawled over to curl up in between both her mother’s and father’s lifeless bodies, as a chill began to set in...

Finally, Redd broke free of the flashback, but this time it was because of a chill that had settled within her bones. A chill that made her shiver, but as she looked about, she noted that the others had managed to get themselves into the tunnel and she heaved herself up from the wall. The lupine dragged herself into the tunnel, before closing the door behind them. The last thing she needed was to have to deal with another Lylek and her footsteps began to pick up the pace so then to bring up the rear of their little group.

Larentia had spoken, and Alwine battled herself to not give another wolfish grin. There was no need for it. The words had been given, and large enough of a portion of the galaxy had either seen it or would soon enough have access to see the reruns and streaming.

When Kyyrk Kyyrk passed her by though, the smile appeared on her lips anyway. "Liar," she said to him, her voice almost stoic despite the smile on her face. The Knights Obsidian often forgot their own. More people than Alwine could count had disappeared, left, sometimes to return, sometimes not to. She had seen Knights being treated awfully, Knights advanced for their connections and not their work. But there was more in that. So much more. A few of them had seen the recordings, ones that were meant for anybody's knowledge. Today though, would not be the time to reveal them.

The United Siskeen Coalition will no longer be Confederate space but, rather, the beginning of a new era for the Siskeeni.

Now though, there was no longer a need to hold back. Alwine smiled, inhaling deeply with pride. It had happened. The first system to officially separate itself from the Confederacy, and they had all done it without needing to spill a single drop of Siskeen blood. It was a moment for the cameras, for the media, for the broadcasts to go far and wide all across the 'verse.

When Locke addressed the Agents of Chaos, the smile became a smirk. He did not give off the air of a stupid man by any measure, but the attempt to preserve one's ego came through his words thick and clear. If he wished to have the last words, much like his friend, he was welcome to them - it made no matter.

From her seat, Alwine rose. The previous time had taken more out of her body than she had expected, and her motion was slow, stiff, and still she pushed through it. Her steps betrayed the pain that coursed through her body, but she paid it no mind. They could look and they could glare, at the damage done to her by the Sith Empire, the very one they supported, the very one they would always be too afraid to face, even though the Sith Empire stood for everything that the Confederacy was against, on paper.

When she at last reached Dib, there was little she could do but nod. "Congratulations, Mr. President," she smiled with delight at him, "You have broken the charter. You have dissolved the wheel. Your people are free and their freedom has been obtained by words and not by blood. I am truly proud, and humbled, all at once, to have received the opportunity to witness it." Shifting her cane from her right hand to her left, Alwine's grip tightened on it as she gently raised her now freed hand, to shake Derek Dib Derek Dib 's. "The Agents of Chaos stand with the Siskeen Coalition. Should you ever be threatened by an empire, you already know how to reach us."

Turning to look at the room again, her gaze fell on John Locke. "We have medical evacuation fleets ready, and a neutral humanitarian camp set on Trendivar. Those you evacuate will be safe there, and our own will be taking them to that location as well." Before he could do something silly such as accuse her or the Agents of Chaos for being in charge of them, Alwine raised her hand to motion to stop it. "We have targeted military locations only. We came hoping for peace and a party, yet were ready for war. The actions of the Twi'lek Freedom Fighters are not ours, but I pray that when today is over, you will truly look inside your empire and understand what has spurred them on. The only thing that can keep the Confederacy from doing better, are the people who lead it."

Turning, Alwine walked slowly back to her seat and closed her eyes but briefly. Soon, the effect of her shiftglue would wear off, she knew. Would the joy of a victorious meeting be enough to maintain her control when it did?

Patience was like a game of cat and mouse. If the cat waited long enough with the prowess and stillness of a predator in waiting, then its prey would come to it. However, if the cat was too brash or abrupt, it would scare away the mouse. The cat had to wait till it’s single strike would finally kill its prey, before it could see to its hungry stomach that growled with every constant second that passed, full. It was a great example for right now. For if the cat acted out of anger, it wouldn’t get what it wanted and so she simply listened with a face that told no stories. A face whose only action was to take in every single speaker with chocolate brown eyes and listen to the passion of which they spoke with. To listen to the convictions.

Visanj was no different from the rest. Her speech aimed to strike at the male’s heart, to beseech him to find trust within her. However as her gaze drifted from the female to another. Alwine remained quiet, except for the woman that stood beside her. Ah, so she does have a tongue, Raven thought to herself before moving along. Finally her gaze found Derek and even she could see that no amount of talking would seem to sway the man, even if he did take a minute to turn his back against the many faces that awaited his decision.

The meeting reminded her of a silly little nursery rhyme… Hickory, dickory, dock. The mouse ran up the clock. The clock struck one, the mouse ran down. Hickory, dickory dock. In fact the constant drumming noise played right along with the rhyme. Each person had taken their time to voice their thoughts and opinions, essentially running up that clock. However, a resounding rebuttal had always come back, toning the inevitable decision that was surely to come. Sure enough as Derek spoke, the woman simply listened to the words with a perfect stillness that had taken many years to accomplish. One could almost say that she was that cat waiting for the mouse.

With the ex-Viceroys words, a simple nod of acknowledgement of her own head was given at final decision. Exarch Locke took the stage then and began to speak. He gave a report on Ryloth’s situation and she continued to seemingly remain devoid of emotions when it came to the plight of those on Ryloth. However, it was just that she preferred to keep emotions out of the mix. Things got… Messy when emotions were involved and it had been displayed in many different ways. Anger which had led to outbursts and tears had been shed over the tragedy. Indeed, even she couldn’t call what was happening in Ryloth as anything less than a tragedy. After all, it had once been a day for celebration for the Twi’leks and the AoC just had to turn it into a day of bloodshed instead.

Even after her tears of sadness, Seraphina spoke only a few words and Daegon… Chocolate eyes appraised the male as he opted to remain quiet. The only tell that the man gave off to his rising anger, was the constant drumming of his fingers. Then finally her gaze returned to Alwine as the other woman spoke once again about matters that she clearly shouldn’t speak of. ”Perhaps you should be quiet, instead of spouting words that you clearly do not know the definition of. An Empire would not have let a secession to happen, regardless of your presence. If we were an Empire, we would have killed President Dibs and then simply replaced him. Or we would have waged a war; either result does not include the conversation that we are currently having.”

The woman paused for a moment as she slid her gaze away from the woman, but her next words were still pointed at her. ”Think, before you speak.”

All my blood I shed for thee. All my freedom, I surrender for you. Rest, child. Rest now, and dream of a better place. And pray that I will have the strength to make it so.
Voph felt the blood pounding in his ears as the ship descended into low orbit. Darcy was yelling into his ear about the trajectory, and estimated landing zones. Voph turned away from the boarding ramp towards the airlock supplies. Zero G suits, emergency exit supplies, the like. "Darcy, the ship isn't setting down. Too risky." The AI paused, trying to process this. After a moment, she spoke again. "I won't ask what you mean by that. But knowing you, I have a feeling I know what's coming next. Plotting route."
Voph moved forward into the cockpit, getting the pilot's attention. "Once I am away, rendezvous with the Resolve, Corius will need your help more than I will." "No offense sir, but I gathered as much!" Voph smiled under his helmet. His rage was evident even to those without the gifts of the Force. He turned back towards the airlock, and hurried to his destination. His time was approaching.
The side panel opened, and Voph turned to seal the airlock from the rest of the ship. His own suit pressurized, and sealed itself for the upcoming leap. And moments later, Darcy chimed in his ear. The next Voph knew, he was falling. A display appeared in his ocular implants, allowing him to see his exact altitude, position, and destination. The fighting had already begun at the Altar. Several witches had been killed in its defense.
Voph couldn't help but wonder what the purpose of this maneuver was. The Altar held no tactical significance. The Mandragora maintained it as a religious site, and a religious site alone. Aside from its heritage, the altar was useless. A symbolic attack, perhaps. After all, Terrorists as intolerant of other ideologies as these would often destroy sites that proved there were more doctrines than their own. But that was of no matter.
The clouds of Vytal's storm began to envelop Voph as he fell, arms beginning to splay out to slow himself down. He could feel the lightning arcing along his armor, but the Force surrounded him such that it did not touch him. Until the critical moment arrived, and Voph began to spin in the air, pitching forward to rotate his heels over his head, pointing towards the sky, then down towards the earth. The Lightning gathered about his raised right fist, and then dissipated into the ground as Voph slammed into it, landing between the Agents and the central, durasteel-laced stone. The sheer force of Voph's landing, nearly tripled by the armor he wore, cracked the ground beneath him, even cushioned by the Force as it was.
Voph stood slowly, his right fist lifting from the ground, and moving to the side as his lightsaber flew from his waist to the summoning hand. His second lightsaber soon followed suit, clicking into place against the hilt of the first, and brilliant Violet beams sprung to life as his saberstaff ignited. Lightning surged down the length of the blades, practically a storm in their own right, such was his rage.
And as the Force surged around Voph, the aura about his mantle shone forth, filling his allies with a resolve and vigor that only the Force could provide. Voph's offhand came up, power swirling about the fingers as he prepared for the terrorists to show him a taste of their so called peace and freedom. And, it seemed as though another stood within him. A spectre, intricately intwined with his being. Not all the spirits were bound to this altar. And not all of them were willing to see it pass without a fight. Another move on the altar would have to pass through him.
But it mattered not. Whether or not the Confederacy won this battle, Voph had already accomplished his mission. He had their scents. He knew their faces.
There would be no hiding from him now.

Derek was seated, the artificial hand of his right holding the insignia of his new office, President of the United Siskeen Coalition. A symbol for the very thing he claimed to strive for. Completed and attained without a single drop of siskeeni blood spilled, nor cities destroyed, nor innocence stolen by enduring through the ruthlessness of war. His careful machinations led him and his people to this very moment. His chronometer vibrated the second time, the message from his brother no doubt in position. A brief glance confirmed his assumption.

Eyes rose to follow the weaving words that danced about the room so intricately that it was easily obvious that the meeting was a distraction for the magician’s sleight of hand. First a flashy diversion that pulled the audience in with false promises alluded to by the flamboyant gesture. Meanwhile the unseen eye performed the very thing the spectators believed they were watching so carefully. Truths and Lies were even more difficult to control, for you must believe in order to convince.

And Derek was quite adept at using his own perception of truth to change his own point of view enough so as to never lie.

Warriors always looked upon the realm of political maneuvering and cloaked intrigue as beneath them. Yet it was the same. You had to bluff your opponent, feint in tests, allow the opposition to see a repetitive action to build false assumptions based on falsehood, and to strike when their guard is down. Mercilessly and without hesitation. Splintering of a cohesive into broken pieces of a whole made for the best opportunity to decimate. Divide and conquer.

Quietly he listened to the wave of words that fell on deafened ears. Posturing and jockeying for moral superiority afforded by the high ground was usually achieved by climbing over others, most often the innocent. The greatest accomplishments in life came from blood, sweat, and tears. Rewards needed to be earned or else they became hollow and empty, only an echo of possible potential cast off as lightly as a shadow. However the shadows of consequence become a part of you, never leaving a being in their life.

“Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”

Lines of ancient poetic muse flowed from his lips in a whisper that would cause his guests to lean forward as they strained to hear the words. Rising to his feet he looked at the siskeeni guards lining the room at attention. Two waiters entered the room with a refreshment cart. Slowly Derek waved his closed fist over the holoprojector embedded in the table. A multitude of documents appeared as ghostly apparitions due to the transparency of the floating files.

“A nation founded on pandemonium. Allowing slavery in the higher echleon of their society. Utilizing violence to gain their objectives. The lack of care for the destruction their actions create on innocents, governments, and economies. Fielding known criminals charged across our galaxy for war crimes. Manipulating news feeds in order to promote their own agendas and decimating freedom of speech. Persecution against a different view of a religion in favor of their own. All of these reasons are why you will be opposed with conviction and fervor. And I shall answer for my sins, yet this facade that has unfolded here in this room has spared my people from war. I shall not take victory purchased by the blood of others.”

At the center an ethereal hologram sprang to life. The image of the Viceroy of Siskeen appeared as he spoke to two AoC representatives.

“Everything is open for interpretation. Live in the world of politics and you will discover every word has a double meaning, every look a nuance, and friends become foes while enemies become allies. Everything is open for interpretation. As for a threat upon your life I shall take a phrase from my brother. If I ever decide to kill you we will be looking at one another, you will know I’m coming for you, and it will not be a surprise. Pretty straight forward I believe. Yet another interpretation is I will kill you if I deem it appropriate, however I could order your deaths or even simply alert certain authorities to your presence deep within Confederate space and now it doesn’t become a direct threat from me but rather an indirect menace of your personal well beings. Interpretation and wordplay are more dangerous than a fight, ladies.”

Derek waved a hand silencing the image and tossed the misshapen presidential insignia to the table. His left hand opened revealing the insignia of Viceroy which he pinned to his jacket’s lapel. He looked to the Agents of Chaos as the soldiers in the room leveled their weapons at the AoC. The servers lifted the domes from their carts parked next to the Confederates revealing their personal weapons.

“I warned you I would do whatever was in the best interest of my people. Our agreement was for talks with the CIS without deadly force being utilized. When I was informed of the AoC striking into confederate space I knew a ploy was needed to protect my system. And still I warned of Ryloth’s attack. I never agreed to support the AoC in any form. And this secession is invalid. What I do, I do for my people. With the authority given me as Viceroy of Siskeen I hereby charge the Agents of Chaos with International Terrorism, Domestic Terrorism, Conspiracy to commit Treason, supporting the Illegal possession of Slaves of higher tier society, aiding and abetting known war criminals, and war crimes committed by Agents of Chaos. You are all under arrest. Please surrender peacefully into my custody.”

Coding with a child sitting on your lap wasn't particularly easy, Holt soon found out. As he tried to work, typing gon the datapads and writing his own programs, logarithms and variables, the little Twi'lek squirmed and fussed. She was too young to understand the concept of what was going on around her, and she made playing sounds as she swooshed her doll through the air, often bumping into Holt's hands as he wrote delicate programming.

Suffice to say, he had to clear and write over the child-induced mistakes more than once.

Whoever these slicers were, they weren't amateurs. If Holt had to guess, they were probably operating out of the Confederacy itself, using third party transmissions to be able to vault into the Confederacy -- and Ryloth's -- systems. He wouldn't be able to shut them out, especially since they could link through any transponder into the Confederacy Holonet. But what he could do was mitigate the damage.

Being linked to the Rookery gave him a great advantage -- the base's advanced communication systems and authorization access in Confederacy systems gave him access to much more than these slicers, and much more easily as well. But another advantage that Holt had, and that these slicers apparently didn't, was the fact that the Director understood the people of the galaxy. Holt had never graduated from some fancy academy, had not been born into or lived the life in the upper social castes of the galaxy.

He knew the people of the galaxy, the common layman who's highest ambitions were an apartment for his family with power, running water, and food. He had been those 'people' of the galaxy, and it was why he was so skilled at communicating with them. All of these people -- these high lords and warriors who had never once been forced to think about where their next meal would come from if their meager paycheck would be able to pay off the next month's rent -- they didn't understand the masses. They looked down on them, thought of them as cattle that could easily be herded one way or the other.

Holt knew differently. Kaine Australis thought by narrating a victimized story of Confederacy aggression, that millions of minds would suddenly become sympathetic for the cause of these terrorists that had come to raze Ryloth. Holt began to anonymously upload the security footage -- the video of the Twi'lek author executed by the terrorists, of them murdering civilians with a suicide bomb, of tens of thousands of helpless emus burning up in the planetary atmosphere. Of the fleet that the Agents had brought, the massive battlecruiser preparing to incarnate the capital bio-dome. They had none of the attention-grabbing, tabloid headings that these insurgents had posted.

They were simple and honest. They were showing the Agents of Chaos for what they truly were. Terrorists. There was no better way to describe it.

A ping from the Rookery broke Holt's concentration. One of the slicers had tried to forward him pornographic material, which he quickly swiped aside, making sure that the child on his lap didn't see any of the explicit images. But the communication pinged again, and Holt narrowed his eyes as he realized that the pornographic material had not been the reason the Rookery was trying to contact him.

It was only one word, but Holt understood the meaning and weight that it carried: Siskeen. He quickly switched focus, bringing all channels he had to bear onto the Siskeen conference room, and just in time. An entire holographic display, fully rendered, appeared of Derek Dib -- Viceroy Derek Dib -- pinning his symbol of office to his lapel, and the words of freedom he declared:

"What I do, I do for my people. You are all under arrest."

Holt couldn't help but slightly smile as he uploaded that final holovid to the rest of the galaxy. Even the Agents of Chaos would be able to see it in their massive space station out in the wild reaches. The bio-dome had begun to degrade, and as the battle worsened outside of the communications center Holt began to close up shop. He saved everything to the Rookery's database, closed all open networks, and grabbed the child who had crawled off of Holt's lap to find her doll.

It was time to leave. Holt's work here was done.

Vytal had expected the voice of another, but instead received that of the more familiar of the pair. Madalena Antares. To think that the former Knight Obsidian would take point on a matter regarding the Mandragora. A woman that no doubt heard all about their ways and their beliefs from the former Nightmother. Or, at least, that variation of them. If either truly knew their enemy as they thought they did, they would not have so many people at this place, at this time.

And if they intended to pull the Nightmother away from a 'true' target, they would again only find disappointment. Vytal's Sister from Dathomir, Pom, had been instrumental in rebuilding the Mandragora in recent years. Many facets of the Castle reminded the Nightmother of her Sister daily in fact. It was that influence that had the Women and Men of the Mandragora ready for assault, for she fervently believed outsiders would come some day to persecute them. A matter that had made Shadow's Point that much worse in Pom's heart -- the Dauntless, because of the Cruicible, had come for them. Had persecuted them despite being unaware of their folly. Their efforts had only been so successful that day because it had not been the Castle.

Vureshakkairn Castle was built to weather an assault. True, one predominantly made up of those lacking or weak in the Force or Magick, but an assault all the same. Yet, of all things it had been intended to be the very target of their persecutors on the planet. In truth, Vytal had been somewhat surprised to feel those drawing near this mount. Perhaps neither Katrine nor Madalena had been fully aware of the Vault that lay within the base of the Castle? A repository of countless artifacts or tomes of power like the stone Madalena, Hevn, and herself had obtained. Even Raven's Point would have been a more likely target despite its apparent disuse of late; though it too was well defended.

Perhaps that is why they chose an undefended mountain with the ruins of a bygone era atop it? The Altar of Spirits with nothing more than broken remnants of a far grander construction with four stones jutting through it all representing Jart, Lylek, and Doashim. Not sources of power. Not sources of authority. Not even a means of communion. A place bearing historical significance, which the Women and Men came to in reverence of that past. One which Katrine knew well; in fact, Vytal believed she had been largely responsible for the resurgence in the use of this mountain top for the religious Mandragora. The current Nightmother had honored them here time to time as well, naturally, as well. They dealt with spirits of the dead. The past was as important to the fundamentals of the galaxy as its future.

Which was why Vytal had shown up. To preserve a piece history. Ryloth's history. Their history. Even Katrine's history, though she might now despise it or have come to see the Mandragora as somehow unworthy of even laying eyes upon the Altar. Without her words Vytal could not be certain, but if the former Nightmother thought to break the Mandragora by what she did here today...

"Do not speak to me of abuse, Madalena Antares Madalena Antares . You stand at the Altar of Spirits claiming to be their champion while you take this opportunity to destroy a site countless Mandragora, long before our time, used to commune with those spirits. Let me make it clear to you now, what every woman and man in the dome screams in their heart at this moment as they seek to stop the monster of death and destruction you set loose -- still your hypocritical tongue. You spit upon the sacrifices that brought peace to this world to elevate you and yours. Not for some lofty purpose, but for acclaim. Or else will you be seeking to free Dathomir from those you decry as slavers, but instead you have wasted your resources fighting us because we did not do as you saw fit?" Yes Vytal's homeworld was in the hands of the Sith, but it was not gone from either her heart or her hands. They too were not alone.

To think Madalena once again delivered an ultimatum no reasonable person would accept all for the theater of appearing to be on the side of righteousness. Leave and we will have no quarrel? She sought to destroy the Altar as one might seek to destroy the Great Temple of Yavin IV or Korriban's Valley of the Dark Lords. Whether you felt the Force or not, these places held value for their history alone. You do not destroy these things to 'make a point;' one which would do nothing to further their agenda and only affirm the heartlessness of their cause.

"Protect yourself, but do not hold back," Vytal said normally to Shamira Karuto Shamira Karuto and those that had come with them without projecting her voice afar. The young woman need not be afraid, for she was not alone. Not here, not now, not ever. It was a fact all Witches came to understand in time, and circumstances like these often hasted it.

A bolt of lightning slammed down upon the Altar as the Nightmother turned her gaze back to the platform where the intruders, the murderers, the enemy stood feeling proud of themselves and righteous in their cause for spirits-knew what irrational reason. An explosion was heard, which probably caused some to flinch and others to smile. The Nightmother did neither. There was a design to all things -- something those seeking to desecrate this place would learn. Perhaps not today, but some day. After all, they'd chosen this spot for their moment of glory.

The pale form of the Nightmother was suddenly consumed by black smoke that faded as suddenly as it had come.

Her shadow-cast countenance reappeared atop the mount as Voph decided to invite himself to their little gathering of troubled souls. She had appeared off to one side of the Altar as the man had taken the middle to cut the enemy off from the central spire that was the Altar.

"Lylek," a familiar, protective, and masked serpentine figure appeared to her left, "Jart," a winged spirit whose council was well received now resided behind and over her head, "Doashim," the hunter stood to her left and nearest the Altar now. There was a shimmer of the Nether in their appearances that belied they were not of the Living. "You sought the spirits, and you shall have them." Because she had given the Agents of Chaos there one and only warning.

For a moment, it seemed Justice had won.

All parties involved came to the conclusion that secession was the verdict, and the Exarch enacted the Emancipation by word alone. Curious that nothing went to documentation, and even more curious that in spite of that fact, the underlying malice in the room continued to palpate. Very quickly, it became obvious that no one here wanted to keep the hard won peace that they had worked so hard for.

The King sighed.

Children, spitting and spatting as they bared fangs and sought to douse each other in venom. His patience was stretched thin already, and the curtain had all but fallen. And then, Derek Dib Derek Dib spoke.

His Ruby eyes slid shut as the man man his motives known. By making his play outside the Confederacy, he sought to draw in an enemy. All of this, he did with his people as the bait. Their freedom. Their lives.

He stood at last. The chalice clattered to the floor, staining it red. His fingers twitched, one after the other, and his gaze fixated on the man who had perpetrated this elaborate ruse, all for nothing.

There was no misunderstanding between Dib and Enlil about falsehood. The other man understood exactly how he felt about it. If the Confederacy were content to allow such a farce to play out, he was correct about them from the beginning.

But he was also correct in doubting Derek.

None. Not one of them were fit to lead. The heat in his face had spread down through his body, to his feet and his fingertips. The sensation of anger being sapped away, turning his digits frosty grounded him. Rage was not the proper response.

No, the verdict had to come from a sound mind. All of the evidence had been laid out plain. "You will let them leave," he said flatly. His voice was measured, cold, and stern. "You lied to get them here. You played with the safety of your own people, and you now seek to hold them on false pretenses, all by your own design."

He clicked his tongue.

"These people are not my allies; but you have damned yourself by your own actions. Stand down, Viceroy.

If anyone attempts to discharge a weapon, they will die."

“Well, he did it. And they call me the mad man.”

Muad shook his head at the scene being broadcast throughout the galaxy as his brother shrugged off attempts to control and wield him. Nobody controlled a Dib, and Derek just made it a point the galaxy would remember for a long time. With his head still shaking in mirth he motioned for one of the troopers to begin their own broadcast.

“Are we live? Yes? Sweet. The entire galaxy has been rocked by the adamant stance taken by Viceroy Derek Dib in the Siskeen System. While our reporters are trying to get an interview with him I have decided to go for the one of a kind exclusive interview with the head of Agents of Shield herself, Discordia. Keep up.”

Muad nodded at the trooper who sent the commands. Explosions would be attempted throughout the entire network of spheres. The thousands of Siskeeni refugees had, in fact, been troopers that were delivered to the Scintilla under the guise of merely being non combatants in search of safety. The few dozen troopers at his location advanced into the open lobby of the Tower, weapons now brandished.

“It's time for your closeup Mrs. DIscordia!!! Come out come out wherever you are.”

Even as the group entered the Tower lobby hundreds of other troopers were swarming the upper echelon of society residences in hopes to put down the haughty upper class allowed slaves. How much would actually be effective, wasn’t clear. Yet holocams followed the bunches of Siskeeni troopers as they tried to swarm the Agents of Chaos, giving them a taste of the very same chaotic destruction that was unfolding on Ryloth and almost would have occurred on the Siskeen System if not for the plans of the Viceroy.

“Get the turbolift doors open and take out the lift. We need to go up and I really would like to see this place burn like a beacon.”

Chaos was unfolding all around, the Tower and to smaller degrees the Spheres as the Siskeeni valiantly threw themselves into action. The only questions on Muad’s mind was, did that lofty restaurant have an open tab for guests and just how flammable was this Tower. One thing was for sure, he was going to find out.

Corius scanned the reports. The bastards were hitting religious shrines, temples, schools, and calling these military sites! They’re not in this to hold their culture together, and not for the well-being of their people, these animals want power, pure and simple, he thought. He began to command his fleet, opening fleet-wide comms.

“Red Alert! I say again, red alert! All ships, go hot, shields at maximum! Move the carrier and the Resolve into position, take up concentric perimeter around them. Any sign of hostility, kill until the atoms die. Nothing, and I mean nothing, leaves Ryloth or lands on it, that ain’t ours! Provide cover to those Siskeen evac ships. I want fighters in the air, yesterday! Full area scan. Eyes open people, we have a clock. Aid and evac is priority. Lockdown is secondary. Get those walkers planetside! If that nutjob can bring her emus, we’ll bring ours!”

He ended the transmission.

“Clank!?” He shouted.

“Yes oh master of serenity, you called?” Came the voice directly behind him.

“My music, Clank!”

“Yes Sir,” Music began to play, “Do you like my hat?”

Corius said nothing, but continued to watch the holo-display as the ships moved into position.

Time to finish this.

Dark eyes flared with hate as he listened to the man's words. After his little diatribe Gabriel had remained quite, allowing the real players in all this to hash out the issues. The whole time the master sat there he was plagued by a sense of malice hidden under all the talk of peace. And here it was, proof that the Confederacy was willing to use any means to depose of their enemies, even using the sacredness of a parley. There were few things he held as sacred, but keeping ones word was one of them. All those in the room today only came with the understanding that no violence would occur on this world, and all would be allowed to leave in the same condition they arrived.

Gabriel looked to Alwine Daye Alwine Daye with a defeated looked as he turned to lock eyes on the Viceroy. With a looked of vicious intent he reached out with both hands grabbing half a dozen of the guards in a tight force grip. All those caught flew up forcefully hitting the marble ceilings before flying backwards. As much as he desired, Gabriel didn't kill the men. They would be bruised and bloodied but would live to see their families again. All of this happened in a blink of an eye as Gabriel brought his hands down in an accusatory manner. Hot flames sprang from his palms as he moved in front of the more vulnerable members of the gathering. "I would instruct your guards to lower their weapons Viceroy. I meant what I said when I came here for peace, just as everyone else has. But I doubt they would take any of us down before I turned you into ashe."

Eyes looked at each on the confederacy side, trying to gauge which of them had been in on this rouse. It was a same really, because up until now he found himself impressed with many of the members. The possibilities of agreements with them had left the dark master hopeful. Yet if this Viceroy was their poster boy of honor then he had no use for their kind. Lastly he looked over to Enlil before returning his gaze to Derek Dib Derek Dib . "The only crime that has been committed in this room today is your lack of honor. I would listen to the King. You have not only tainted your own honor with your actions but that of the Confederacy. From the lowliest peasant to the Lord Commander himself. We may die here today, but so will you and the entire galaxy will know what happened and will damn your people for a single man's actions. No death will come of today. I care little about your damnation of the AoC. I care only that at least you uphold the honor your Confederacy claims to have."

Sarif had heard tales of those that combated force users, usually, they were second hand, very few manage to survive an encounter against such a being. When but a mortal man, force users were akin to the spawn of the gods. Their powers beyond comprehension, their might unmatched. There would be some who shrunk from them, Sarif would not do so.

The plasmatic blade came hurtling down the alley towards Sarif at breakneck pace. Its lethal hum penetrated the air over the sound of sonic rounds, and heavy artillery fire. Rolling forward, Sarif went right beneath the blade as it continued on its path overhead. The Lylek however wasn’t so lucky. The blade bit into the side of the Lylek’s neck leaving a large cauterized gash. The beast itself beginning to flail uncontrollably.

Rising up from his roll, Sarif prepared to fire another shot only for three metal slugs to slam into his unprotected chest. A gasp escaped the twi’lek’s lips as an electric charge surged through his body, tightening his muscles, before quickly causing them to give out. Blossoms of crimson painted Sarif’s chest as he began to fall. Vision blurring at the edges, Sarif fell backwards to the ground.

All around his twi’lek riders, his family were being slaughtered. Caught between the forces of The Monster The Monster , and Anakwor Farlorn Anakwor Farlorn . To sacrifice ones own men came with a weight, one that was unbearable, it haunted you. It shadowed you wherever you went. The last thing Sarif was to see of his people were how their lives were snatched from this realm and carried to another on his orders.

Still stunned, death coming ever closer Sarif looked down at his bloodstained chest before locking eyes with the approaching Rann Thress Rann Thress . Surrender had never been an option for the likes of him. Death’s embrace was a welcome one in these moments. The drums of war continued on, the firing of artillery, the sounds of screams as they were engulfed in flames.

“FOR A FR-” Sarif began to scream before he was silenced, one of the lylek’s spiked legs coming down where his head had once been. The body went limp instantly before detonating. The buildings on either side of Rann and the Lylek were blown out as flames and concussive force sought to swallow them all.

Having stopped their preparations a large majority of the freedom fighters stood gathered around a holocom listening to what they thought would be the valiant return of J'onns . Instead what they were privy to was a massacre, how even after surrendering, having a change of heart that the twi’lek’s had been gunned down without mercy. The air grew silent, tension hung in the air as they all watched J'onns plummet towards the planet. Some prayed for him, hoping that there be some saving force. That Jonns would pull out some tactic like he usually did. Others turned away unable to watch the sight.

Shuulk’s eyes never left the display as his true brother. Not one in arms, but of flesh and blood met their brutal end. It was regrettable that J'onns had a change of heart, his death would’ve been better had he followed through with the plan of destroying the dome. Yet this would still serve their purposes. “Take the video and dispense it out to our agents in the other domes. Let them see the atrocities of the Confederacy. Let them see that they never cared for us, that they will slaughter us for simply fighting for our world. That even if we surrender they will offer no quarter."

Moving away from the display, Shuulk moved to a far corner of the cave leaving his men to grieve. J'onns had been loved, he’d always been the more charismatic leader. He’d been the face of the Freedom Fighters when they’d first begun recruiting. He was trustworthy, he was loving, he was everything Shuulk wasn’t.

Standing at the edge of one of the holes in the cave, Shuulk watched as the sun was blotted out by a massive figure. One of the flying beasts that the Exarch rode upon. Darkness encroached upon the Freedom Fighter’s abode. Many of the others turning to look in horror as a large black claw tore through stone. Its roars shook the very mountain itself and the other twi’lek’s began to scatter like drochs from the light.

Shuulk didn’t have time to move as the talons latched onto him, so the warrior simply raised his blade, and gave a final roar as he was snatched out into the daylight.

Ploys were made, words were exchanged, as usual in a diplomatic meeting. But this was by far an ordinary meeting. Tension crept into the edges of the room, like waves creeping upon a shore. Faye could feel it. Like a crushing weight set upon her chest. It was almost too much. Until a gently placed hand on her elbow brought reality swinging back into view. Faye risked a glance at the owner of the hand, and flashed the stunning Seraphina Corvinus Seraphina Corvinus a smile that was more appreciative than words could ever manage. Once her piece had been said, she sat down again, reaching for the shimmering purple gem sitting neatly in the center of her chest. A warm glow spread over her skin, and with it a peace that she had only ever been able to find in the shadow of the Cridhe Gras.

Dark eyes flitted toward Luca Donskoi Luca Donskoi , so that she could offer him a reassuring smile. She may be blind to emotion now, but a clear head was needed more than a backdoor into their emotions. After all, the Confederacy had attended to allow Siskeen to succeed. There would be no reason for bloodshed.

The talks continued. The melodic tone of Seraphina did not suit the sobre note it held, but Faye couldn’t blame her. Yes, her brother was a Darth. She worked for a Darth, but Faye wasn’t used to such violence either. She fought her battles behind desks, with words and with ink, not with swords. Had this been like any other meeting, keeping her cool would have been as easy as breathing, but the ever present knowledge of death and destruction occurring not one system over was unsettling. Even more so that they had been forced to sit in front of those responsible for it.

At least Faye could chalk up one small win. The feed being cut off to Ryloth. She offered Derek a gracious nod of her head, though said nothing as he continued to talk. A woman Faye hadn’t had the pleasure of getting to know personally yet spoke up. Beautifully voicing an angle on the whole matter that Faye hadn’t even considered. All eyes were on Derek as he made the final decision, though she couldn’t claim surprise when he declared his claim for independence remained. The general consensus of a peaceful succession, and the final word from Exarch Locke, made Faye visibly relax. Perhaps now the tension in the room would fade, even somewhat. Viceroy Dib furthered his graciousness by listening to the pleas of Daegon and his wife, sending humanitarian aid to Ryloth.

The Minister of Influence was on the edge of declaring the meeting successful, until the vaguely familiar blonde woman spoke up. Suddenly, the light flicked on. The crazy lupine child who had chased after Brayden the night the CIS had been spiked by an extremely potent love potion… Faye stifled a grin. Remembering that night meant that Faye could take nothing the young wolf child said seriously. Brayden had brute forced the potions hold over him just to escape her. They all thought the delegates of the Confederacy murmurs and farces, but they allowed such a child to play pretend. Raven Thystle Raven Thystle summed up Faye’s opinion on the matter perfectly, and there was no need to tamper with perfect, so she remained silent.

Tensions in the room began to climb again. The AoC seemingly assuming they had won, when all they had really accomplished was a demonstration of their skill in sitting. Faye cast her gaze across the table, toward the freshly dubbed President of the United Siskeen Coalition. She was partly tempted to turn the comforting glow of the Cridhe Gras off, just to catch a glimpse of what he was feeling. But a monumental moment such as this could not, and should not, be encroached on. Instead she watched his lips move. Wordlessly, or so she thought. When she focused hard enough, above the grumbles and groans of the other delegates, she could make out soft words.

Her focus was so intense that when he stood, she was visibly startled. For a moment, as he spoke, Faye couldn’t ascertain his meaning. When his attention turned to the members of the AoC the room went silent. Faye’s mouth dropped agape. Her gaze travelled quickly from the two young women, and their rather burly bodyguard, to the Viceroy Dib. Filled with obvious and unabashed shock, there was little more she could do then watch as the soldiers withdrew their weapons and locked their aim. From start to finish the meeting had been nothing at all like Faye expected, but this… It was pulled straight from those old black and white holofilms Alden sometimes watched.

Nobody seemed to know what to say, least of all the members of the Confederacy for whom this came as a total surprise, until the cracked tone of the doorman sounded out. Faye rose from her seat, and leant across the table to direct her words at the man.

“It would be wise of you to refrain from making such wild threats, you are outnumbered here and fighting will only ever amount to more bloodshed.” The words were not in any way threatening. Instead her tone had taken a softer turn, as though she were imploring more than demanding, but it was too late. Faye looked on in horror as a sweep of dark force overshadowed the room, seeing several souls cash against the wall and land in a tangled heap. She took a step back from the table, then two. “Came here for peace indeed…” Faye spoke at Gabriel Volturi Gabriel Volturi . “Whether you are willing to see it or not your actions are the first to cause harm here. Remember that, when you tell this story.”

In all honesty, Shamira had only come to this place of worship a few times since arriving on Ryloth.

Vytal had made sure to take her here when she first arrived, when she was beginning to see the spirit realm for the first time, a skill she did not have when first taken off her planet. This place was special for that, but other than that? She had rarely seen anything held here or any meetings importance. It was more or less often left to breath, exist in silence, being a relic of a forgone religion that was seemingly not practiced anymore. Most of the time, she very well might not care much about these stones.

However, this was not a normal time. Those that dared stand up on the peak, dared mar the ground with the blood of her brothers and sisters, they did not deserve to live a moment more. They played with forces they could surely not even understand, save for the witches that spewed false statements. They might understand where they stood, and if they did? That would make things only worse. To soak the ground in blood of witches who had nothing to do with their conflict did nothing but anger the spirits and put a death mark on each and every one of their heads. Even if they walked out of this place alive, the spirits would find them and haunt their nightmares for taking one step in violence on this mountain.

One, seemingly the one that wanted to die the quickest, Judd Hunter Judd Hunter , began firing those bolts down the mountain where they stood. Shamira smoothly moved behind one of the boar, whom took the blasts with a little snort of pain, responding with another full fledged roar once the mini barrage was over. Shamira hadn’t done many tests to see the durability of the leaf and moss mix for traditional weapons like the blaster the man used, but it seemed as though the boar took it in stride. Just as she slide back out from behind the beast, the lightning cracked again, but this time much closer to the top of the alter.

Then a man emerged. One that was seemingly tainted with a spirit of his own. Curious. But he certainly didn’t seem like he was very happy with the men and women who had disgraced this site. That was enough to put him on their side, for the moment at least.

The nightmother’s voice caught her attention, blinking once as the words settled on her mind. Don’t hold back, hm? A fair request. One that Shamira intended to follow up on as the Nightmother disappeared, then reappeared at the top of the peak. That little stunt earned a grumble from the youngest witch, quickly moving to duck behind her the boar once again when another barrage of bolts came flying her way. Certainly not the kindest fellow. Though a murderer wouldn’t normally be.

“I have to learn one of those transportation spells..” She grumbled to herself as her hand reached up to her robe’s clasp, releasing it and letting it float down to the sacred mountain beneath her feet. She kept her knapsack, however, beginning to dig into it for a very special brown leather sack. It was opened, and the seed mixture inside was poured into the palm of her hand then spread up and down her legs, arms, and chest.

“Olreald..yboiveth..nesmire!” With the magical words spoken, alongside the necessary motions from her hands, the seeds began to rapidly sprout and grow around her body. The same mixture that covered her boar wolves vine muscles began to sprout and grow around her body, enveloping it in a tight, tough mixture similar to a strong undersuit. In certain areas, something more began to grow. Falyood tree bark, one of the toughest she had ever had the pleasure of studying, grew around her calves, thighs, stomach and chest, and her forearms. The whole process took very little time, something that she had been working on for quite a while, definitely an upgrade from the last time she used the spell in combat during their last trip to the nether.

The combat suit grown, the woman stepped out from behind the boar ready to join the fray. “Well..I don’t suppose it would be very kind of us to keep the nice..murderers on the peak waiting. Nor should we let those two have all the fun. Let us join them in defending our home.” Gripping onto the central boar’s tough skin mixture, she heaved herself onto the back of it, leaning down flat against his back.

“Go.” The trio of beasts roared, and their trample up the cliff began, their speed greater now than when they could be called alive. And they might've been quicker, too, had it not been for the mass of fire suddenly enveloping the area they stormed toward. Shamira's mind had to snap to attention, pulling on the mental harnesses she had on the beasts. Even then, fire managed to creep it's way onto one of them, it roaring in as the flames licked up it's leg.

Thankfully, there was preparedness from the young witch. One of the few skills she had kept up since leaving her planet was, again, thankfully, pyromancy. It required loosening the restrains she had on the beasts for just a moment, but with the regained magical control was able to clap her hands together tightly, extinguishing the fire before it damaged the beast's skin too much. Her eyes then focused forward, suddenly pulling apart her clapped hands, opening a hole in the fire and keeping it wide enough, for just long enough for the beasts to charge their way through and up the mountain, toward the men that dared desecrate her new home.
