Thoughts and Prayers Please

On Wednesday March 11th, my father went to the hospital for a biopsy. The initial results have not been promising. To quote the doctor "it's much more serious than originally expected."

To be completely blunt, I don't have much in the way of friends to open up to. Here I don't have to look any one in the eye while I say this.

It's is believed that my dad has advanced stage cancer. I don't really know why I'm even writing this. I guess it because I feel at home in places like this. You folks are my kind of people. I'm 27 I work way to much and I'm a geek. Maybe I'm a nerd. Whatever. So to those I have been in story lines with... my writing might not be up to my usual standard.

If anyone would like to help my family we would be thankful.

Maybe he was the Darth Vader to my Luke for most of my life, but he is my dad. We share the same name. We have the same temper.

[member="Zenva Vrotoa"], Good luck to your father and yourself. I hope that everything goes over alright.

And trust me, No one will think differently of you if you were to take an LOA to go and help your father. Rl is more important than this site.

I'm sorry you was given that kind of information. I recently lost a grandfather to a kind of cancer. The information may seem bad but there is still hope. I'll pray for your dad and your family.

Oh man, I'm so sorry to hear that :(
My Papa had cancer awhile back. At first the docs just thought he had some swollen something-or-another and told him to leave it alone for a bit. If he had waited as long as they asked, we would've lost him. Luckily he's a stubborn sort of man and went back in a month after his first appointment. Turns out he had a good sized tumor in his neck. It took a lot of chemo + radiation and 2 surgeries (if I remember correctly), but he made it out.

I really hope your pa makes it out as well.
Remember we're also always gonna be here for you. Take a break, help your pa out, spend lots of time with him, and come back when you're good and ready. In the meantime we'll be keeping you two in our prayers. I'm sure someone will be able to help donate money as well (the site has done it before to help out a good friend of ours).

May luck always shine upon you.

Thank you all. I'm not going on a LOA. I mean what else do I have for entertainment? It's more like putting my dev thread on the back burner. No motivation to really write out my NPCs or my mercs.

I did go see my dad today. Of course mom is crying all over herself, mean while dad's all "kark them. I'm fine. They need to cut this chit out of my neck so we can go back to normal." Just being himself.

Hearing him talk through... I can tell something is wrong. His voice is wrong. The doctor said the right side of his vocal cords are paralyzed. It is noticeable, like he has Streep throat or something.

Zenva, I understand. My dad fell and went to the hospital once. He had a blood clot so large he could have died at any second. He lived, thank God. I have a middle-aged friend who went to my church (he's currently in the hospital) named Ted and he had a heart transplant. His condition was so bad that the doctors said his systems were all supposed to be failing. They didn't fail and he's going strong. I don't know the will of God, and I don't know if your Dad is going to pull out of it, although I REALLY hope that he does. What I do know is that we have to live every moment like it's our last. We're only passing through this world and we have to be ready to go at anytime.

God be with you and your family.

Thank you all for your support and kind words. Your stories have helped. I don't have the words to properly express my gratitude to everyone here.

Today, March 19th, my family received the results from the hospital. My father has been diagnosed with stage 3 throat cancer.

I don't really have anything else to say at the moment. Thank you all again.

I know how you feel friend. My father recently had a heart disease scare and now whenever I think of him his health and the prospect of him being gone is always at the back of my mind.

My prayers to both our dads.

Dads first surgery was today (Tuesday March 31st).. The news they got was pretty bad... They will have to completely remove his voice box they are going to remove 4 lymph nodes and half of his thyroid.

Further testing has been done following the exploratory surgery. Dad's condition has been changed. He is now considered to have stage 4 throat cancer.

I would like to ask everyone to once more look at the link in my first post here. Not to donate (though it won't be turned away) but to please share the link on Facebook or Twitter or whatever.
