Thoughts on TFA Plot

Except that we all know the bad guys should never always lose, and having them do so ponders to non-reality. Personally, as a writer (you didn't "educate" me in any way, btw), the bad guys should be winning until the end otherwise we don't get emotionally invested. Right now I'm not remotely worried about the Resistance. That's bad.

Also, don't think the Knights are Sith. They are just the Knights of Ren, another darkside cult.

Well the Bad guys don't always lose, the Empire Strikes Back was all about the empire crushing our heroes. Secondly, as a random ass dude on the Internet (who could also call himself a writer, cuz we're all writers on this site, btw) you shud just take what I say with a grain of sand. No need for anyone to get mad, especially because this is just a friendly discussion based purely on opinion. I was just trying to give clarity to my own viewpoints while simultaneously showing my disagreement with another's. Lastly, like I mentioned earlier, it's a Space Opera. It's not supposed to be based in complete reality. It's a story about the triumph of good over evil told in an awesome way. The movies purpose wasn't to get us invested in the resistance, it wanted us invested in the characters themselves and curious as to what happens to them next. Just like in the original trilogy. We cared about the rebels, but we all really just cared about what happened to Luke and the gang.

*calls himself a writer because he has published a book*

I know what the story is about. I get what the goal is. It would be more convincing if the bad guys were winning until the end when the good guys pulled off a miracle is what I'm saying. Rehashing the same general plot line over again just because it worked before is not only cheesy, it's kind of lame. Shows a lack of ingenuity. I know that every story ever has technically been written before and that everything we see is just a different version of the same story, but I feel like we should really be terrified of the First Order and it's abilities, but I'm not. I was underwhelmed. For 30 years they have been quietly building up, and all we see is them get taken down by a handful of people on the planet and about a wing of starfighters. I'm not even remotely afraid of the First Order. To me, that's bad.

I will agree with this, you make a valid point. However, I'll retort with this: Wasn't the Empire around for Thirty years amassing their forces, and then Luke and a buncha starfighters come along and blew up their greatest Superweapon, too? If you listen to the subtle dialogue and the way Snoke reacts to everything it kind of hints that the subsection of the First Order where Kylo Ren is is just that. A subsection. I can't remember who but someone lets out something along the lines of; "It seems your little pet project has failed, I think it's time to bring in the clones" or something along those lines. Meaning General Hux and his stormtroopers (the ones where Finn came from) were men that were brainwashed and indoctrinated from their youth and that they only make up a small fraction of the army. If the First Order went back to Kamino and started pumping out clones again like they hinted for thirty f-ing years, god help the galaxy. We also know that there's at least what, 7 or 8 more Knights of Ren? Oh yeah, and like, 3 planets are just gone. Poof. bye-bye. The start of the New Republic is no more.

You're definitely right, the first movie is underwhelming with the enemy and they look kind of weak. However, let's remember that just like in A New Hope the X-Wings coming in was a surprise attack. Caught the enemy off-guard. THen, in the Empire Strikes Back (aptly named) the Empire strikes back with their full force. I think Abrams just wanted this movie to set the stage and get us invested with the Heros. Next movie will have all the reasons why the First Order is something to be trifled with.

When I first saw Star Wars in the re-release I was enthralled with it because I was a young kid. As I've grown older, I've seen problems even with the originals. The ineptitude of the Empire was disgusting to me.

You may be right about what the plan is. However, I don't like the plan. I think we should always be afraid of them. And it was Hux that said something about getting a clone army rather than using regular troopers in regards to Finn running off.
