Description:
The TIE locust is a revolutionary new twin Ion engine based fighter built to out run and maneuver anything in its class. It concentrates on its very low profile and agility to make it a very difficult target to track and hit. While the frame is strengthened by triple bracing and ferrocarbon beams to compensate for the stresses of such high speed maneuvering the hull plating is very thin and internal room for weapons systems is very limited. This is why the craft only has two laser cannons as its armament. It relies on its superior design, speed, and maneuvering, to allow the pilot to take advantage of these two systems. The Locust will make up the foundation of the starfighter corps interceptor squadrons.
As a necessity of the small size the pilot will climb into the rear of the cockpit section where he mounts the control structure much like a speeder bike. He is then sealed into it and hooked up to the environment system. The craft has no internal atmosphere and the pilots must rely on oxygen fed through tubes into their helmets. Pilots are also connected to a sanitation system for prolonged operations.
