Tis the Season [SJO Winter Ball]

Yuroic paused before he left. Caedyn found his voice once more. He gave a smile to the boy, "glad to see a Lothcat didn't steal your tongue." He chuckled at his own joke before nodding his head. "Well my training is tough and could be seen as annoying." Yuroic was strict but then so was Arisa when she trained him, he was free to do as pleased, went where he wanted to but she demanded his focus on their lessons and ensured that he didn't climb through vents and maintained personal hygiene standards that he found preposterous at the time. It was amusing to think back at those days, it was sad to think how little he trusted the people he now calls family but understandable due to his background.

Listening to the brief explanation on who and what the Je'daii were, it seemed different. It was hard to believe that people just left the Order, that there was such a big difference to the way both factions taught. It was worse to hear that Caedyn felt the faction had begun to slip from their days of old. "Sorry to hear it has declined, I would have liked to have seen it in the day." Yuroic always feared a fate similar could happen to the SJO or worse the Dark Side hunted them down with such fury they ended up like Commenor. "If you ever want a lesson, contact me and I am happy to share what I know. I tend to be more Grey Jedi than most here but I know a fair bit about the Light Side. No Jedi Master but I always placed my bets Asaraa got there before I did." He chuckled again.

"Training? Well, standard day see my Padawan up at 5ish, 6 was Asaraa's preference. Apparently it is impossible for her to be up any earlier." He smirked and nudged her playfully. "Do a run through the gardens and around the local area. After the run, breakfast then Force training. Depending on the experience of the Padawan, it can be a basic lesson for an hour or two, or in Asaraa's case 2-3 hours intense Force training. After that, combat training, Mondays are Lightsabers, Tuesdays are guns, Wednesdays bows now that I have one myself. Thursdays we go back to Lightsabers, Fridays are hand to hand and Saturdays is Lightsabers again. Sunday is a day off for rest. After combat training its time to hit the books, reading with a quiz at the end of a month." Yuroic paused for a bit. "fter reading its dinner time and I usually end the day there. Let them have the evening to themselves."

"Heeeey!" The girl glared at Yuroic before half turning away, a grin lighting up her face as she turned her head back, flicking her hair at him. "Some of us have to make sure we get our beauty sleep, we can't all do the whole short hair and rugged thing. It takes a lot of work to look this good." The girl glanced between her two companions as a laugh danced in her eyes. "Besides, I've said it before, that's waaaay to early. I mean the sun's not even up when you are." The pink-haired one waved a finger under Yuroic's nose before turning her head to wink at Caedyn. "Seriously, if he gets you up at the crack of dawn to take you hiking through the woods or something, don't say I didn't warn you." Not that the training hadn't been fun, and it had helped her to learn to wake up quickly when she needed to, and it did make being able to lie around in bed that much more special. Plus the sunrise at the waterfall they normally trained at was pretty spectacular after all...A soft groan escaped the girl's lips as she realised what she was contemplating.

"I mean, if the two of you are going out there for some morning training and all then I guess I should probably come with you to keep you two out of trouble." Asaraa's hand dropped down to her side for a moment before she span to face Yuroic, her dress flaring out slightly as she pointed a finger at the man, blue eyes glaring playfully at him behind her outstretched digit. "But I swear, if you shoot me with another arrow Yuroic I swear I'm not gonna hit you with leaves this time." Maybe Madalena would be around the temple, she often seemed to stop by to visit Josh and the woman always seemed to have a copious supply of knives on her, maybe she'd be willing to lend some of them out. Asaraa shook her head, taking a sip of her drink, "We're all absolutely crazy. And those tests were worse than anything the other masters ever gave us, given they really didn't test us all that much. Ahh for the lost days as a youngling, being able to sleep through class..." she glanced at the others with a smirk, "not that I ever did of course. Actually, those were pretty good days...how's your new Padawan settling into the routine?"

Caedyn Arenais couldn't help but chuckle beneath his breath as he watched the exchange between [member="Yuroic Xeraic"] and [member="Asaraa Vaashe"], there were moments when he considered chiming in, but honestly the pair of them were rather amusing and they were obviously close, cared for one another like family. It actually made him rather miss his own Master, though no longer active, [member="Asha Hex"] would forever hold that title in Caedyn's mind, a respect and compassion for the woman only a few years older than he, that she would always find family in him and vice versa.

"I don't honestly mind the mornings too much, there are so few others up during the early hours that it's kinda nice to get some time in while everyone else is asleep. The Temple of Stav Kesh often had us up before sun-rise" Caedyn spoke up, still half smirking at the pair of them as he'd found the moment to contribute to the conversation. "I'm also kinda curious about your use of the bow, Master Yuroic", Caedyn couldn't recall the man's last name but he did his best to respect his position all the same, "I reckon it'd be great for keeping yourself hidden, the lack of sound compared to a blaster for example...-But do you often use it in live combat, how does it fare when met with blaster bolts?".

The Je'daii themselves had all manner of fighters come and go from the Stav Kesh Temple on Aurum, so it wasn't unheard of, though Caedyn had never practiced with a bow himself. The closest thing he had used was his Bo-staff, another weapon and fighting style entirely. As the two males had teased one another prior, Caedyn was still rather interested to see how Yuroic fought in combat. He was curious to see how much the Je'daii differed from the Jedi when it came to physical prowess and mental discipline, Stav Kesh was the art of mastery over one's self, yet he had heard the Jedi had numerous forms of swordplay for example. Subjects that he had never taken up with his father, as back when he lived at home, his parents hadn't wanted to force their children to be met with the bias that often came with choosing an alignment between the light and the dark. Fortunately, the Je'daii studied and respected all aspects of the Force...-Thus it wasn't something Caedyn often concerned himself with.

Shaking his head, he listened to the complaints Asaraa had for the early hour training. " Ah, but the tests I gave showed you how much you had learned and move forward. I was harsh because I knew you could handle it. I pushed all my Padawans to their limits, only way you can learn what your limit is and how far you can go when things do get tough." He knew that Asaraa knew all this, he explained it all when he first took her on as his Padawan, it was more for Caedyn's benefit. To understand why he was a harsh and tough mentor. He never wanted Asaraa to end up like he did, in a situation over his head and under prepared. It wasn't Arisa's fault that he wasn't prepared but he knew that he needed to be tough, there things scarier than him with a bow out there. Scratching his robotic arm, he let the flashes of fear-induced memories wash over him.

"More the merrier," Yuroic smiled as he snapped himself back to the conversation. "Couldn't have been that bad kf hou are choosing to do it now." He teased as he gave her a gentle nudge. "Get to show Caedyn where I cut my palm so you could learn how to heal a real person. Still got a scar due to that by the way." He joked as he had been impressed with Asaraa's ability to heal it. He had expected to have a more defined scar than the slight faded white line. Turning to Caedyn, Yuroic nodded his head. "Early mornings are the best for that reason, the stillness and quietness is something else." He commented.

Caedyn was interested in his use of a bow and the effectiveness. "Well, I started using it only for hunting. That was just a simple hunting bow however, I now use an Energy Bow, the drawstring is similar to a Lightsaber edge. Makes it useful in melee combat as well as ranged. Compared to blasters? Depends on the blaster, better than a pistol, more accurate than a scattergun or repeating rifle. However, can't fire as quickly as a blaster and doesn't fire well in long range. Takes a long time to become effective with a bow, I became effective due to being stranded on a isolated world, had to hunt to eat and my Lightsabers weren't good enough. So I created a simple bow from memory of reading about them and used that. Starved on berries and wild plantlife for a long time before I got my first kill. But food is a strong motivator to get good."

"I can do more damage with my bow than most blasters, personal shields block energy attacks like blaster bolts but arrows slip right through them. I had a variety of different types, ones to use against Force Users so they can't even sense or grip the arrow with the Force to stop it, explosive arrows which can pierce heavy armour and more in development. Blasters are good but I find my arrows allow me to be alot more versatile." Yuroic commented.

This was a bad idea, she knew it had been a bad idea from the moment the words had left her mouth, but once you had spoken then you couldn't really go back on it now. It wasn't so much the waking up early, despite her protestations, she really didn't mind waking up early, didn't mind the hike and exercise in the morning. She was just...she hadn't been expecting the two of them to get on so well. It was, she had to admit, a little worrying that. The girl glanced between the two of them before she let a small smile turn up her lips.

"On the other hand, you can't really dual wield a bow, or use it with one hand either." She'd taken her bow out with her on a few missions before, but she'd always lacked Yuroics natural skill with the weapon, the experience that came from constant use. For her, it was all about getting in close to an opponent, that was all it would take before she could play with them in her most comfortable area, but she couldn't deny the use of having a long-range weapon around for when you needed it. Or any, although someone choosing to attack a party full of Jedi probably wasn't going to get very far, weapon or not after all. "You know, i's actually a lot more difficult to get them to fly in a straight line than I thought they would be..." a playfully suspicious look was levelled at Yuroic, "Are you sure you didn't have the bow angled just slightly wrong so that it would throw it off when I fire it would you?"
