He could feel her anguish, her confusion, her anger, and he wanted nothing to do with it. He had no idea what to do with his own emotions, he could hardly be expected to help her through hers. Every emotion he felt, the fear, the shame, the longing and everything he felt towards Keturah, it was too much for him to process. It all felt like anger or at the very least it was all making him angry.
This was not who he was. He was not some child filled with trepidation. He was a killer, strong and confident, but this girl or this place, made him weak. No that was a lie. He was always weak. Weak and afraid.
He stepped to her, much closer than they had been this whole time. Inches from each other but not touching. He wanted to grab her, to throttle her, to kiss her again. But he did nothing, he just stood, close enough to feel the heat from her breath. Inches separated them, but it could have been miles. Both were so lost in their own thoughts.
