Tomb Raiders(Kal'n Drasco)

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist
[member="Kal'n Drasco"]

The deep mountain area of Shri-Tal was the perfect place to train and test equipment. She let her energies rise up and outwards while she was focusing on the area around her. The crystals and casing for the blasters setup while she tinkered and worked with them. Her pack of equipment there while the large ruins of the ancient temple was covered in vines and overgrowth. The water obscuring the entrance to the temple was leaving vapor over the metal bridge while she waited for a padawan to arrive. Normally she would go to the map room and dazzle them with the large display but here and now she could show off just a little for herself. Thoughts of her work while she held the one book with the ancient Go Nagai script for their language and some of the other creatures. She'd be able to look throughout the ancient temple and see what was buried deep inside... wile handling some of the ancient sithspawn that had been left behind. That was why she had the blaster she was working on with the augmented focusing crystal she was setting itno the chamber of the blaster. Her energy going into it to empower it with the lightside of the force.

Name: Hu-Ed
Designation: Sentient
Homeworld: Asobi
Language: Ahnok
Average height of adults: 3m
Skin color: Tan
Hair color: Short and coarse body fur with thick dark colored hairs
Breathes: Type I
Strengths:
Powerful Digestive Acid: Their bodies can break down practically anything
Hibernation: The species has evolved the natural ability to hibernate and sustain themselves with the force for long periods of time
Weaknesses:
Low Population
Unable to use most technology/Armor
Limited visual acuity: Their vision is based on movement and does not function well in bright light.
Distinctions:
Hoofed feet
Horns
Hermaphroditic
Pointed Ears
Average Lifespan: 3000 years
Races: There is only one type of them
Estimated Population: 5,000
Diet: Meats, Vegetables, Roots, Leaves
Communication: Verbal, Pheromones
Culture: Regarded and taken from their homeworld as a trap, the species is born with a bondmate. Someone they are usually with and will seek out subconsciously across long distances. (think carrier pidgeons going for their mate) In ancient times their homeworld was razed to the ground and the species subjected to dark beings who slowly corrupted them with their magics. As they were scattered across the stars and taken to massive temples the Hu-Ed were given the task and orders to protect the treasures within the basements. Some of the first cultures that took them were the Vu under the guise of the Go Nagai. Finding the humanoids a strong host but branching out they were able to overtake some of the Hu using them as a bulwark until their encountered the Ren which they replaced their bodyguards with. In their own society over time the Hu have developed customs, bone necklaces to protect their necks that can impede the serpents and heightened aggression for things and people coming after their homes. To outsiders who try and capture their children they are aggressive and violent often needing to be killed to take the children.
Technology level: Below galactic standard
General behavior:
The Hu-Ed is very dedicated to their home, often staying in hibernation for years near places of the darkside to protect the treasures within. Their heart rate and breathing lowering to the point they will rarely appear within force senses or on sensors from droids. When approached by predators or food their heart rates increase awakening them from their slumber to search out. Their generally make their homes close to aura's of the darkside that they can slowly use to nourish them while they hibernate.

Within their own social structure the bonded pair is usually alone with each other, make their territory in caves or dark ruin like places. The darker the better and they will make a home in the dirt with rotted trees and leaves. Any ruined technology around them they do not really use but might find alternative purposes for with rudimentary tools or traps. THeir children are regarded well and protected but also a burden that the parents will finish teaching how to survive. Their hibernation usually interrupted to do so.

With outsiders they are a mixed bag, usually regarded as hostile threats based on past experiences and with the Hu having a long lifespan they hold long grudges. They will often speak of smelling familiar scents on beings that they have met. Sometimes they will leave outsiders alone if they are neither hungry or worried about being attacked, it isn't clear how they can tell the difference but main suspicion is their hearing and sense of smell can register the body chemistry of the ones coming after them.
History:
Discovery
Discovered on their homeworld at the edge of the galaxy by the Go Nagai when they were still under the influence of the Vu, An interesting species that was massive and overpowering. The Vu used them as enforcers and the first choice of hosts they could take from off their homeworld. With the force energies and knowledge from other species they had encountered on the worlds near them they sought to change them to become better for their purposes. The experiments were a failure, not creating the beasts into a devout and perfect host but into a primitive and partially twisted creature.

The full effects of their experiments were never really understood by the Vu or the Go Nagai as they razed the world to the ground seeking to live up to their name sake as destructors. The Hu were kept alive in low numbers that many did not really have things to do with, mated pairs being taken to temples or left on worlds that held value and treasured resources. To protect it and ensure no one took
Notable Player-Characters: None
Intent: To create a dungeon creature species that is big, scary and comes from a future planet submission

To say Kal'n was nervous was to say that a sun was hot or that water was wet. The problem was Kal'n didn't know exactly why he was nervous. He had trained with Jedi Knights and Masters before, yet this struck a different chord with him, it was...different. Perhaps it was because he felt he was fast closing in on being ready to take his Knight Trials. Or, perhaps it was the nature of this training. This mountain area was completely unknown to him and the summons was so last minute that he hadn't had the time he would of liked to research and study where he would be. Still, no use worrying about it now he told himself.

He took three deep and steady breaths. Calm yourself. Three more deep breaths.

A beeping from the ship told him that he had reached the destination. As he sat in the pilots seat the small one man fighter fell out of hyper space. He disengaged from the circular station that provided light speed, for the small Jedi star fighter did not have that capability on its own. Double checking the coordinates he took the ships out of automatic and into manual and began his descent.

--

What was Master Matsu doing out here? Kal'n asked himself as he trucked towards the location he had been given. He wore his Jedi robes, and unlike nearly any other Padawan two sabers hung at his left him. One, a fairly standard blue saber with a red jewel and fins near the emitter. The second lightsaber was less conventional, it was curved and had a wooden covering over its handle. It had been built while he had been training on Kyshyyk. His hood was pulled forward and low to keep the sun and general environment from his eyes.

After sometime he found himself on one end of a metal bridge, starring across at Master Matsu and all that she had around her.

"Master, I am Padawan Kal'n Drasco." He said with a smile, and despite his earlier unease he felt a twinge of excitement. Sure, he was tired from his travels but the excitement washed that weariness away. He was ready to begin.

Matsu perked her head up as the words came to her and she turned her head looking over and seeing him while she motioned with her hand speaking low but with the aid of the force to have it be directed at him instead of disturbing the animals around. Sometimes line of sight techniques and focus could be a great thing. "Yes yes thank you for coming out here." Matsu motioned him closer as she backed away from her equipment and the glowing casing was resting there. Equipment strewn about while she backed away just a little bit with a book in her hands. The saber disc blade on one hip and her two blades on the other. The small sheaths for them giving a decent angle to grab them. Matsu waited until he came closer and stood to her full height of five feet while remaining there until she turned smiling again. "I normally wouldn't meet like this but when we discovered these ruins I couldn't refuse coming out here there is just so much that can be worked on." She was motioning him closer while the temple loomed in the background and rubbing her hands together in excitement. "You have some previous training as I recall, which will come in handy."

Kal’n could be said to be a ‘little old fashioned’ when it came to protocol and where his knowledge of proper procedures ended he generally fell back on being overly polite. So when Master Matsu thanked him for coming out here he merely bowed to her and remained silent. He was only a Padawan afterall and he figured she was really doing him a favor by allowing her to accompany him on … on … well, on whatever this was.

His dark blue eyes moved to the equipment strewn about the place. He was unsure what much of it was for, but the thought he could identify a few parts here and there. Unable to sate his own curiosity Kal’n’s mind began theorizing on what it could all be for. As he thought about this he followed Master Matsu’s command and walked forward. When she began speaking again he forcefully tore his eyes and mind away from the equipment and gave her his full attention…almost.

The ruins in the background demanded some acknowledgement as well. He had seen such things in holo’s of course, but seeing an ancient ruin up close was vastly different, and far more exciting. “Of course I… what are you working on Master? If it’s ok to ask of course.” He added the last part quickly, not sure how strict Master Matsu would be. The first thing he wanted to do was leave a bad impression.

Of course her last comment caught him slightly off guard. “Yes, Master. I have been on several missions already. Though, I admit that none of them involved ancient ruins or…well, I don’t know what that is, but I’ve never seen anything like it.” He said gesturing to her contraption. “Wait, is that a focusing crystal used in lightsabers?” His interest was piqued again and he half-turned despite himself to look over it again.

Matsu was looking him over and then towards the equipment as she was wondering how much to tell him but settled for letting him know. Soon it wouldn't be much of a secret or wish when she finished up working on it. The casing getting closed over the crystal as it sat in the tubs and a power cell. "It is, but before lightsabers kyber crystals were used to power ancient machines and weapons. I am working on using an old model light blaster to create a lightsider weapon." She was moving now and with the blaster completed she held it up while testing the weight and her equipment there. Loading some of the extra parts into her pack as well as a few books for the ruins as she was looking at him before opening one of the book. "The ruins here are something else, from before the Go Nagai on this world started building underground deeper into the planet and creating the honeycomb of tunnels." SHe was looking at him and moving forward while touching the wall. "As part of your training there will be skills to use here to get through but we will be able to test some of your skills." She was watching the walls and brought her hand up while she spoke. "One of the first skills is to create a glowball to search throughout the ruins. Start by holding your hand open and drawing at the ambient light in the area until it forms into a ball you can move around in your hand."

[member="Matsu Ike"]

Kaln’s focus remained on what Master Matsu was saying, but his eyes went from her, to the equipment and then back to her several times as she spoke. He remained quiet as she explained things to him, mentally registering what she said and trying to think of his lessons at the Temple, unfortunately none of this seemed familiar to him. A light side based blaster? He wasn’t sure such a thing was possible. Of course, it had to be right? He was just told they already existed.

He followed Master Matsu as they walked away from the equipment and to the ruins, his eyes drinking in any detail he could find. “Honeycomb tunnels. So, an advanced underground structure? I’ve never heard of the Go Nagai before, they are extinct now?” He asked, stretching out his own hand to touch the wall and get a feel for the cold stone.

Glowball? What in the… Kal’n immediately did as he was told, he held out his hand and…did nothing. “Master, is drawing on ambient light the same as drawing the Force?” He had never heard the term for drawing something specific, though he had heard of darksiders using lightning before. Was this something similar he wondered?

Matsu was moving and looking at the padawan as he asked a couple of questions. "It is not the same the light is created from everything around you for a short time nd when you are finished using it will disappear without a trace. The larger you try to make it the brighter it can be." She was moving in though and didn't stop but slid some glow rods from her belt offering them. "The skill is not for everyone to learn but it can make for some easier times ahead." She had a look on her face while walking a little deeper into the ruins and spoke. "As for the Go Nagai they are still alive on a colony world they created, just not how they were once before... Their structures are still around this system."

He crinkled his nose and looked at his palm again. Kal'n refused to let himself fail, he stretched out his right hand and focused on what Master [member="Matsu Ike"] had told him. He let out a deep breath and and concentrated, clearing his mind and trying his best to pull the ambient-light from around him. Yet, there was still nothing, he had stopped walking and ... He opened his eyes and looked to his hands, there it was, a soft light, not enough to light anymore than his palm, but it was there. A smile broke across his face and he let out a deep breath, the light fading.

"Perhaps it'll take a little more practice." He commented, taking the glow-sticks from Master Matsu. "Thank you Master." He activated one of he glow rods and slipped the other two into his belt, he may need them later. "And what do you hope to find inside this particular structure, Master?" He raised the glowstick high and continued to peer around the tunnels that they walked.

Matsu looked at him with a shrug. "Anything could be here, we don't have to find anything of value but knowledge." She wasn't certain what might be there but there were many things hidden deep in ancient worlds that weren't just something powerful or rare. She could find one of those staffs they used for controlling their pets or what those creatures were used for that float around and expand larger and larger. Matsu continued to move while she was looking a mural on the wall over depicting a massive creature in a labyrinth like cave system beneath them going after humans. The Go Nagai seen standing over with their three eyes before she was motioning for the padawan to come while she spoke. "From what we understand the Go Nagai were cruel destructors who were around at the height of their civilization near two hundred thousand years ago and able to traverse the galaxy. SOmething happened to them and they were pushed back but not before reaching worlds like Kesh on the other side of the galaxy."

Kal'n thought over Master Matsu's words and they only proved to reinforce his own belief, knowledge was the only true thing of value. Sure, finding something old and powerful would be very useful he was sure, something that the Jedi could study and perhaps even unlock more knowledge of the Force with would be even greater. But such findings he knew to be far and few between. He remained silent and took a few more steps to catch up with [member="Matsu Ike"], who had already started walking ahead.

He raised the glow-stick up higher to get a better view of the wall and its depictions, he viewed the same one did and whistled lowly. "Whatever that creature is, doesn't look like it was friendly." He commented, moving his hand against the old and worn stone. It was as this time that he reached out with the Force to see what he could sense, if anything. He briefly wondered what sort of emotions a place like this would hold?

He continued to match Master Matsu's pace as they walked, but his head was titled slightly down and his eyes cast out to see only a few feet in front of him as he focused on those things that he could not see, but rather on what he could feel instead.

Matsu looked at the padawan walking and focusing as she spoke. "Expand your senses, filter them and seek not just what is around you. Seek the pulse of the body, that part that brings life. You'll be able to see it and feel it through the walls." She continued to move and go deeper into the ruins, letting herself get a little ahead in excitement while still tinkering with the blaster in her hand. The force energies from herself settling and powering it as the focusing crystal glowed a pale blue color. Matsu stopped at a part of the ruin entering an overgrown room and looking over a section of balcony overlooking an open section. There were the remains of basins and pools down below but she looked towards the filtered light before she was pointing. "That side looks promising." She was pointing to a pair of large doors opposite them. "We'll find a way across and see what is inside."

[member="Matsu Ike"]

Kal'n did as he was instructed. He repeated the words Masters had used many times before, wise words that it seemed every Jedi had heard a hundred times. Do or do not, there is no try. So, Kal'n did, he extended his senses, looking for the tell-tale sign of life, his senses stretched down the hallway and through the walls. The task while not overly daunting was one that required Kal'n's complete and utter concentration. His pace slowed and he felt Master Matsu move farther ahead of him.

When she spoke a second time Kal'n came out of his trance."I sensed something. But it wasn't like us. I'm not sure." Kal'n looked from Master Matsu and then to the large doors, his eyes then drifted down to the basin and other such details in the room below them. Taking the masters cue Kal'n simply dropped off the edge of the balcony, landing lightly on his feet. He would then walk over to the large doors and see what he could do about opening them.

Would they open on their own or would he need to use the Force and guide them open?

Matsu moved as the padawan went down and she followed him.... that wasn't the exact plan, there could be other things down there from the tunnels and they might not know. She didn't waste time following ofter him and withdrawing the blaster as her hands gripped it. There was more down here while she moved across to the doors and looked at her padawan offering a raising of her eyebrow pointing to some stairs. "I was indicating the stairs while she was moving some of the vines and overgrowth from the door while she was looking for a way to open it. The thoughts going through her mind about having to force it or.... stranger going throughout the ruins to find complicated puzzles and things so they could get the locks in different rooms that would make them scratch their heads. She was moving towards the door and there were large bars on it as Matsu was pulling at one. "Help on the bars and we shall see what is inside."

Kal'n placed a hand on the large doors and let his fingers dance over the worn stone. "So old. There is so much we don't know." He said out loud, but wasn't talking to anyone in particular. He wished that his own senses and ability in the Force were more refined, more powerful. He wondered what sort of things he could learn then? What feelings this place held. He let out a sigh and stepped back as Master Matsu moved to the bars blocking the door.

He wasn't sure why she simply didn't use the force to lift them, it confused him. But not being one to dismiss an order he went over to the bar and gave it an experimental tug. It didn't move. So, bracing himself he pulled with all of his might to assist Master [member="Matsu Ike"]. If she wasn't going to use the Force, then neither was he. There was likely a lesson or something here, something that he didn't see or comprehend yet.

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist
[member="Kal'n Drasco"]

Matsu continued to lift and pull at the bars, the massive things were larger then her... which was most things but the Go Nagai were not that much bigger... This was made for soemthing far larger assuming they didn't just open it with a mechanism or the force. She was letting herself feel it and then focused some energy into her body to lift the centuies old metal before it was finally moving with the loud scrapping of metal against metal. as the first moved into place. One on the door and then she was moving with the force on the second that was higher then her. Something massive had to have been through these doors or just because why not make massive doors... She was curious when the one started opening and huge sections of it was revealed to be a pathway covered in cobwebs and she was moving activating a glow rod while holding the pistol. "Be careful and stay alert."

Kal'n heaved, putting everything he could into moving that bar. Nothing. Nothing...was that, no nothing. He was about ready to take a step back and look for another solution when he finally felt the bar move. It was at the same time he felt Master Matsu use the Force. He stumbled back some but managed to keep his feet under him. He watched as Master [member="Matsu Ike"] used the Force to move a bar far higher up. How did they get to that?

"Could these Go Nagai use the Force Master?" It was the only thing he could think of, that or perhaps a beast of some sort. He clicked his tongue against his teeth in thought, thought it was a brief thought.

As the doors opened and the pathway became clear, or a least some of it. It was hard to tell with the dim light and layers of spider-web that covered the path. Kal'n put his right hand on one of the llightsaber hilts on his belt and stretched his left hand out and used it at something of a focus as he reached out with his senses to see if he could feel life. Which he did, insects mainly, worms and other small things that had spent a life in complete darkness that now scuttled to get out of the light their glow-sticks provided. If something did come through he hoped he was sense long before it got the chance to attack either of them.

Matsu looked at him. "They can dangerously. When the silver jedi encountered them one of their masters obliterated a temple. Their force beliefs is old power and magics. They were destructive to a degree the old civilizations feared. At least that is what they have said and what they have shown in their records." She kept going deeper into the shadows as the sounds were coming to her ears. The deeper down it seemed to go smelled of older things as well as death. The stone made it seem like a sealed tomb while she stopped and crouched down picking up some bones. "These aren't old." Her hands turned it while looking at the slivers of meat that were still on it while she was looking at the pathways around them. "These pathways could fit two or three side by side but the Go Nagai do not eat people.... We should be careful padawan."

[member="Matsu Ike"]

Kal'n wasn't overly thrilled at the thought of extremely dangerous force users with enough destructive power in the Dark Side to bring this temple crashing down around them. The way Master Matsu was speaking of them, well, it was more than just a little bit scary. As they delved deeper Kal'n was assaulted by the smells of such a musty old place, he pinched his nose with one hand and shook his had head briefly, fighting back a loud sneeze.

After a moment he regained control of himself and let out a sigh. He stopped beside Master Matsu and looked down at the...bones...bones with something still attached to them. "What, but... how? That door was sealed and closed when we opened it." He commented, looking behind him as if expecting to see the door behind him. Of course, he didn't, they were too far along their current path now.

He turned back to the bones and clicked his tongue against his teeth in thought. "That must mean that there is another way in and out or since there are undoubtedly creatures down here that one of them attacked and killed the other and clearly didn't finish his meal." Of course at this point Kal'n had no proof for anything he spoke of, he was merely laying out what he felt was the most likely of scenerios, and as he did that he pushed his glow stick farther up and above his head and laid his right hand on the lightsaber at his side. If there were creatures down here then there might be a need for it soon.

Matsu was looking at him and nodded her head. "A second way it makes sense, there might be an area it has gotten weaker and broken with the stone." She saw the padawan reach for his saber while she did much of the same. Her hand raising the saber to work with the gun and she was moving now. Walking carefully where the bones were and she stepped to not disturb them while going a little deeper. Her hand dropping a glow rod at a pathway while she started moving towards the right. A small trail they could follow back should the worse thing happen while she came into a large pathway with rooms holding casks as Matsu touched them scenting the air. "Wine casks and looks like they kept it for dry storage." The large stone slabs of the room were painted with some murals as she went out and followed deeper into the section of the ruins. Matsu was letting her senses flare out while she looked for something in the force that could be in here and more dangerous then insects.

"I hope it's just some beast that managed to find its way in here." His voice was barely more than a whisper as he continued to move forward, lightsaber held ready in his right hand while the glowstick shone brightly in his left. Tch. Kal'n hated carrying the glow-stick now, sure it made it easier to see but it also painted him as an easy target, he could be spotted long before he could spot them. He would fall in line near [member="Matsu Ike"], there was no reason to get so far ahead. If there was danger he was sure Master Matsu would sense it long before him. Of course that didn't mean he stopped stretching out his own senses, both physically and with the Force. He was on alert.

The threat of danger made it harder for Kal'n to focus on the paintings. "We should of brought a droid to record our progress." He lamented as they pressed on, eventually coming to large casks of ... wine? He had to wonder how old they were, it was becoming clear that perhaps something or someone might still be around. He focused on his breathing then, remaining calm and relying on his training. He let the fear and uncertainty come and wash away. There is no emotion; there is peace. He told himself and focused heavily on that aspect of the code, quickly regaining any composure he lost.

"Master, perhaps it would be best to return to camp Master, gather more supplies and then return with cameras, droids and more glow sticks?" It was all an idea of course. Kal'n had no idea what resources Master Matsu had brought with her, Kal'n certainly hadn't brought anything of the sort.
