Tomb Raiders(Kal'n Drasco)

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist

Matsu paused as the padawan mentioned going back and getting more supplies and making this a safer time... The one part of her was saying No we can do it, don't be chicken.... at least that was what she always told herself for exploring ruins by herself where the only danger would be herself getting hurt or lost. She had a padawan to think about and there was something here, it was like it was on the edge of her senses while she was moving back and following the glow rods. Matsu nodded to the padawan speaking. "I agree." There was a look on her face while she was moving and slowly they made their way back to where the sun was shining into the pathway. A look was on her face though while she was moving towards the open doors. "Be careful and move quietly." It felt like whatever was here or had been here was waking up, she could feel it in the distance. "We're going to need some more supplies."

Kal'n let out a breath of relief as Master Matsu agreed with him. He simply didn't think blindly wandering around this place was extremely smart, not when they potentially had droids that could do that for them. As long as time wasn't of the essence there was no need to jump into anything rashly. "I am glad you agree, Master."

On their way out Kal'n would follow Master Matsu's directions, staying as quiet as he could, though he had never been trained in the art he made sure not to kick or trip on anything and to walk lightly on the balls of his feet. If there were more advanced tactics than Kal'n simply didn't know them. When the passed through those large doors Kal'n actually turned around and looked at them for a moment. "We unlocked the door, perhaps we should close it again. Or else something may come out after us."

Focusing himself and stretching a hand out he would use the Force to push the door back into place. It had been something that the both of them had accomplished together, so the application through the force was not to difficult for Kal'n. He even slide both locking bars back into place. He did not want to get surprised by anything; paranoid? Maybe.

Once outside he took a deep breath of fresh air and was smiling from ear to ear. "So, Master. What do we have for resources? Any surveillance droids? If we could send a couple of those in to map the place and send back video feet of what they find it could prove extremely useful."

Matsu was looking at him as she moved and loking at the door she helped close it letting the locks go back into place. "We have some probe droids and extra equipment but not a lot. Usually I am in ruins like this myself and don't always use them." She was moving back outside the temple on the path they were doing when she arrived back outside and looked at the crates while she was moving and opening some of them. She activated a probe droid and passed one of the screens for the padawan while syncing it to her wrist pad, grabbing more of the glow rods and some more equipment as she was securing it in her robes and belt. The extra pockets and compartments throughout allowing her to hold plenty more then she would need usually but could never be to safe. "Alright gear up just in case and only take as much as you think you will need. We'll send in the probes first and scout around to get a good view of the temple."

[member="Matsu Ike"]

"Understood, Master." Kal'n accepted the screen and looked down at it, pressing and swiping the screen until he camera showed. He then sent the probe through some self-tests and checks, he didn't want the thing breaking half-way through the temple. As the droid did its checks Kal'n grabbed one of the packs and began placing in items he thought they might need. Essentials such as some food rations, water, extra glow sticks and extra power supplies. Truthfully, this was his first excursion and he wasn't sure what they would all need.

He secured everything and then put the back on. By the time he was done the droid was finished with its checks. "If I ever come to one of these sort of places again I will need to bring some sort of night vision device. That way we don't stick out like a bantha in a droid shop." He chuckled and looked to Matser Matsu, then up at the canopy above them. It was too thick, he couldn't see where the sun was. "How much time do you think is left in the day?" He asked, though he was clearly ready to move out.

Matsu was looking at him and she smirked a little to that while securing her blaster on her hip and the crystal in it pulsed with the lightside as she was slowly charging it to have more then enough energy. The jedi master looked up without looking at her chrono and spoke. "Well we are closer to the poles, the days are long here sometimes not even getting dark. Beyond the mountains it is snow covered and more natural, this little pocket is a valley is a great place for seeing the older areas." She was moving now and checking the drone while the sounds of the waterfall were coming to her while she was movign once again into the ruins with her attention going to the probe droid while it flew up and was giving her an aerial view of the ruins. Long bits of stone and statue going through the jungle and into the canopy before she was entering and using the marking to get back near where they were. She caught sight of herself with the probe droid through an exposed window before crouching down lower towards the ground and marking the tiles on the wall to put a sensor that coudl monitor the area.

"So... for a while then. Good." He nodded and turned his attention back to where they came, a tingle of excitement racing down his spine. Before they left though Kal'n made sure to grab something quick to eat, peeling the wrapper back and eating rather tasteless bar of some kind or another. Kal'n would monitor the hand-held that Master Matsu had given eye, constantly cycling through the different spectrum's the droid could see through.

Not one to be reliant on technology, Kal'n also reach out with the Force like before, trying to sense life beyond the bugs and arachnids that called the old temple home. "I do hope we find something interesting." Kal'n remarked as the two of the moved, the droid farther ahead of them while Kal'n stayed a step or two behind Master [member="Matsu Ike"]. If something did jump out of no where he was far more confident in a Masters ability to handle a situation than his own. He was pragmatic that way.

Matsu was looking at him as they continued and well she wasn't avoiding the room they had been in with the pathway but she was saving it for last. The smirk on her face though looking over the murals slowly fading told of far more interesting things she wasn't exactly certain of. It made her raise an eyebrow at the massive creature hunting people down. She didn't want to see somethign like that while she was moving her hand along the wall. Th jedi master kept walking and climbed up to a window as she was walking over a section that looked down on the large courtyard they nhad been in the the doors were open with one on the ground. Her eyes were darting as she could feel something that hadn't been there before and it was hungry.

Kal'n walked along, following, but rather oblivious to the fact that Master [member="Matsu Ike"] was looking at him. He was focused on the data pad he had, he would watch what the droid found, switch through the spectrum's and then send it along its way again. He made sure that the droid was mapping the temple correctly, once they got back Kal'n planned to make a 3-D model of the temple that others would be able to see and use, so he had to make sure he got all of the detail.

Sometime along their walking and recording he had stopped reaching out with the Force. That happened sometimes, especially to Padawans that were too focused on something else. "This place is old, Master. I wonder how old exactly." He looked up and around to see Master Matsu on the ledge of a window, staring out of it. "The hands that made this had to have quite the skill at stone-masonry. Those murals as well, depict interesting things that I don't understand. I've been having the droid record them carefully."

Matsu was listening to the padawan but more then that she was feeling what was there, somewhere in the ruins at least and it was older then she was thinking while she moved. "They were known to enslave many races, we still don't know how old and how far they expanded. The gate they have here broken could let them connect throughout the galaxy." She was moving and being careful while her wrist pad displayed more of the ruins and she moved to be above the doors and follow the same path they had taken while counting it out in her head. Find and see what they could discover or if there was an area that was opened and cracked. The sounds of water running over sections into a small stream that carved through a courtyard and sections of the temple. "It is a great view though."

Kal'n couldn't see what Master [member="Matsu Ike"] was looking at specifically so he went back to his datapad. His own ability to 'sense things' was good when compared to others that have trained the same time as him. Kal'n believed that it might even surpass some knights, but it was no where near what a Master could sense, plus the young Padawans attention was solely on the hear and now, the droid and screen to be exact. "A gate of sorts to... travel? I don't understand."

Kal'n moved to follow Master Matsu, even going so far as to use the Force and leap to where she had been walking. He still held the data pad of course. "If you want I can bring the probe droid back from the tunnels and set it to mapping out the courtyard?" He asked, following the sounds of water to the stream that was formed. "Bet all sort of wild-life come here to drink, seems like a good spot for it."

Matsu was looking at him with a grin on her face. "There was a hypergate the Go Nagai used to use. Adopting the technology to move across the galaxy quickly since it could connect two points in the galaxy." THe wormholes it created were stable and dangerous able to quickly move around if you knew how to work the technology whihc no one knew how to do. Study of the gates on several worlds didn't explain anything really and they were moving now while she shook her head. "We have time, the courtyard isn't going to go anywhere it is what is moving in the ruins and avoiding the probes that has be worried. It was inside the ruins when we were walking around I think or it made its way here while we were outside."

[member="Matsu Ike"]

Kal'n mouth the words 'hyper-gate', that was not something the young man was familiar with. "So, this ancient civilization had technology that we can't reproduce now with our own technology or replicate through the Force?" As the two of them continued to walk Kal'n thought more on this hyper-gate, it intrigued him. "So it bends space and time, creating a worm whole that instantly moves you from one point to another?" He tapped his chin with his free hand and shook his head.

"Sounds too dangerous too me. I don't think anyone should have that sort of power. I feel that the good it could do would be nothing in comparison to the evil it would be used for." Right or wrong, Kal'n could be very opinionated about things, though it was a side many rarely saw as he always felt that he was dealing with those more skilled than himself.

"Wait, inside...these ruins" He asked bringing the datapad up to see what the droid was seeing. Still no signs of life. "If it is smart enough to avoid a probe droid than it is likely sentient, which mean we could make some sort of first contact." The idea that the creature could be or would be hostile occurred to Kal'n, but he dismissed it. If it was hostile than he trusted that Master Matsu would deal with it. But, if it wasn't and the two of them discovered a new race then their names would go down in history and that was something to get excited over.

Matsu was looking at him as he spoke about the gates and he was right, it was a powerful thing that could be used and abused... THankfully no one in the galaxy knew how to use the technology... Well there were the infinity gates but that was more force based and empowered. "Well there are some who know how to use the technology but they have become reclusive to the rest of the galaxy. Only a dew people have learned from them." She kept moving and there was a raised dome that she started climbing as suddenly she stopped. The sounds coming from within the temple echoed down the halls and then there was a crash as if something was coming through a wall before sh was motioning with her hands. "Whatever it is, we'll make contact if we can but if it is hostile we should be careful." She was motioning and pointed to some of the sections they could climb. "We can move towards a better vantage point."

[member="Matsu Ike"]

"Do you think there is only one of whatever it is? Or do you suspect that there are more?" Kal'n had been reaching out with the Force but he couldn't feel anything, not yet. His skills simply weren't refined enough. He looked down at the datapad in his hand, the droids sensors hadn't picked up anything either. Which meant that either the creature was simply lucky, or that it was intelligent. If the later was the case, than perhaps it could be reasoned with?

"Well it clearly knows we are here." Kal'n would follow Master Matsu, climbing up the section she had indicated. Perhaps from up here they would be able to see something of use?

Matsu was looking at him as she climbed up and was reaching out. "I do not know, I couldn't sense it when we were in here before but it is smart, it knows this place obviously and it has good hearing. To avoid the probes and us while we were walking around, I think it is large though." She got to the top and offering a hand to up him up she stood there as the master crouched low for a moment. "Stand here and do as I do." Matsu was looking at him as she had a grin. "Your senses might not be as refined but they can be for a time just close your eyes and listen to the world. Feel for the pulse of it as stillness overtakes your senses. It will allow you to hear the creature within the ruins as it moves."

Kal'n got to the top of where they were climbing and accepted Master Matsu's hands. He knelt down next to her as he slipped the datapad into a pouch on his belt. Kal'n nodded at [member="Matsu Ike"]'s words and closed his eyes and concentrated on the Force. He didn't try to wield it or make it do anything, rather, he simply did his best to let down his guard to let it flow through him and share its secrets with him. Or rather, that's what he attempted. It was more akin to a small rivulet of the Force than a rushing river flowing through him, but to Kal'n it was a whole new world.

He was not yet skilled enough to have this sense of awareness all of the time, but at times like this when he had a moment to relax and focus than it was possible. Life became something he could feel then. Many people thought of it as a radar, pin-pointing the exact location of a creature. And that might be true for Masters, but for Kal'n it was simply a feeling, an understanding that wasn't possible without the Force.

He raised his hand and pointed towards an opening below and across from them, a large shadowed door frame that lead deeper into the complex. "There.... " He said barely above a whisper. "... it's getting closer, I think." He wasn't one hundred percent sure, but the feeling, the bit of pressure he felt from the Force when he concentrated on that specific life-form heightened a little more each second. "It might be coming right at us."

Matsu gave a nod of her head while she was watching it with a small smirk. "Yeah." She was looking at it in the force while thinking of what they could do, as a potentially dangerous situation she didn't want to endanger her padawan... but on the other hand you couldn't approach everything like it was going to be a dangerous situation. She was torn between careful planning and excitement at possibly finding a new species or something here that was important. "Move quietly and carefully." Matsu was leading the way towards the section of mountain as she gripped it and held herself on the side. Pointing towards where it came over the courtyard and towards another dome with a broken roof they could reenter the ruins carefully and quietly.

Quiet and carefully. Two things that Kal'n wasn't very good. Well, at least the being quiet part. He had no formal training as of yet and so he would simply place his feet wherever Master Matsu did. Being careful wasn't too difficult, Kal'n figured that most Jedi could be extremely careful when they wanted to be. After all, they did swing around a pretty dangerous light sword that took a whole lot of 'being careful'.

"It likely knows where we are. I would imagine that if it can avoid a droid with sensors that it has a way of tracking." Kal'n wasn't exactly sure, but he figured anything that could avoid them had to have a few tricks. That, or perhaps he was giving himself and Master Matsu too much credit? He wasn't sure, but better to be safe than sorry he thought.

Matsu listened to the padawan as she came to the second dome and was climbing down. "I am sure it is smart but that doesn't always mean a good thing. Some species I have encountered use their intelligence to think of new and more harmful ways to hurt people. So we'll observe like it is likely doing to see if it is hostile or if it is just something that is living here. Some creatures are able to detect the electromagnetic signatures of the probes and sensors so they can avoid them. We will just have to be very careful and if the situation goes wrong i want you to run. I know how to handle myself but I will not endanger a padawan."

Electromagnetic signatures? Was that really that common? Kal'n wasn't sure, the idea had never even crossed his mind. Was that something that he could hide with the Force? Questions rushed to the forefront of his thoughts and it took him a moment to settle his emotions and keep calm, at peace. With the idea of being detected by other than mundane means Kal'n did his best to lessen his presence in the Force, to hide himself as best as possible. A Master like Matsu would no doubt still be able to detect him, but if this thing was hostile Kal'n didn't want to take any chances.

He also decided to quit speaking. What if the thing had incredible hearing? Which he thought much more likely than sensing electromagnetic signatures. He instead decided to project his emotions and thoughts through the Force. I understand. That was the general message. He didn't like being thought of as a liability, and he certainly thought he was capable of handling his own. But he wouldn't argue, now wasn't the time and place. He simply had to trust in [member="Matsu Ike"]'s wisdom.
