Tools of War [Omega Pyre]

@[member="Cira"]

Ayden blinked and cocked his head to one side ever so slightly while crossing his arms over his chest. An interesting response. He didn't think he had gotten under her skin -quite- that deep, but apparently he had. Her words did however manage to illicit a small frown from Ayden, causing him to shake his head. His initial reply was just as quiet and was carried on a razor's edge.
"Call Sarge my 'pet' within earshot of me one more time and I will personally see to you that you are educated... thoroughly... on what a pet is." The air temperature of the room dipped noticeably as Ayden looked at Cira was an icy cold gaze. He held it there just long enough to emphasis his point before his demeanor, and the air around them, warmed.

Letting his arms drop to his side, Ayden turned and looked at the ship with a soft sigh. "What is going on, Cira, is that I'm doing what was agreed upon. You agreed that I would be free to do what I wanted, so long as it did not conflict with the interests of the company. I wasn't aware that part of that agreement meant that I was to ask your permission each and every time I wanted to do something." Though his voice was calm, and his demeanor relaxed, there was no denying the subtle clip to his voice there towards the end. Rather than give her time to respond indignantly, Ayden turned to her and placed his hands behind his back.

"What this is, Cira, is another piece of generosity; another contribution from myself, as part of our agreement, for the betterment of Omega Pyre. Slightly more than half of what that ship is to be will have been paid for by me. Omega Pyre is paying mostly for the labor of its construction. That ship is going to ensure the security of not just Omega Pyre, but every world that falls within our borders." He let that annoucement fall at her feet for a heartbeat before he lofted an eyebrow. "Do I have your attention yet, or do we need to keep playing theatrics?"

Tegaea switched channel on her comm. "Can we get a security team up to the Prex's office, please." When they arrived she pointed at Sarge. "He's going on a trip to Hoth. See to it. Don't hurt him, but make sure he has a bit of time at Snowcap Base...."

Her second stun bolt caught him and kept him on the ground, although he managed to avoid twitching too overtly; and he remained stubbornly conscious. "Kriffin' women." He grumbles before the security team hoists him up.

With an angry glint to his eye and a foreboding smirk he allows them to lead him out. What neither Cira nor Teg realized was that this scene had played out more than once in his early years. That shuttle was going to be a flaming wreck before long.

"See ya soon, boss.", he mutters darkly into his comm.

It'd had been awhile since he'd had a good jailbreak.

"You wouldn't survive the experience. " she said in an equally icy tone, her chin low as she narrowed her eyes, "Reign in your subordinates before I make examples of them." twin orbs flickered a fiery gold. "We clear?"

It was then that her hand rose towards the array, not bothering to ask permission, her fingers deftly bringing up the schematics for her observation. "Key points?" She asked, back to business about the ship and its special system.

He was tempted to push the issue. She didn't understand the gravity of what was going to happen. Sarge was a trained assassin, one whom displayed tendencies best described as... sociopathic. That tone in his voice, that dark tone, was not one Ayden heard frequently, but it was one he still instantly recognized. Cira had no idea what she was about unleash on some very unsuspecting, undeserving people. If she was content not even bothering to try and learn a thing or two, personally, about the two men, he wasn't about to break his back trying to teach her. But what would happen if he let her continue in her ignorance... Sarge was going to want to murder something, unless Ayden got him out of the situation there. And the best way to do that... was to impress Cira. And fast.

As Ayden spoke, his voice was that same ever calm, ever collected. His eyes betrayed no secret, his voice threatened no treason. Instead, he listed her wanted key points "Overlapping shield generators. Honey-comb structure. Multiple emergency bulkheads. It's sensor array is top-of-the-line. Most importantly however is that it is the cornerstone to a security network that starts with these." He gestured to the half-assembled device on the table. It was an object that was presently roughly a meter and a half in length and stood to be twice that once completed. "These are going to keep our borders safe."

That devils smirk still plastered on his face, Sarge walked up the ramp of the shuttle that would take him to orbit to whatever poor ship was supposed to receive him. Not that it would make it that far. "So, guys. What's up with the secret prisons on Hoth?"

No response.

Well that was no fun.

Guess they don't got any last words. What a shame.

Two clicks on his throat mic. A full second pause. A third click.

Last chance Ayden.

The ramp began to close.

Ayden coughed and swallowed, as if his throat were bothering him. In truth, he was activating a sub-dural throat mic. Stand down. Don't rock the boat. He knew the code. At least, for now, he'd have to put up with it. And Ayden knew... he'd pay for this later.

One can only hope he would take her warning. It would be the only one he would get from her in regards to his subordinate. With that, Cira drew her attention over to the device, lifting a brow, but inspecting the half finished item..

" ...busy little bee" she murmured, but instead of the sharp tone from earlier, it was softer, more curious and said half unconsciously. Her brow furrowed deep in thought. The anger had waned and there in its stead the side of the Prex her techs saw. "where did you get these schematics? "

"I made them," was the simple answer she was given as Ayden turned back to the vidscreen and pulled up schematic of the device. "It's an early warning beacon. Tethered to a fixed point in hyperspace, much like that of an S-thread booster or hyperwave transceiver. It constantly monitors hyperspace for a sizable distortion wake; something like what would be gereated by a large ship, or ships, passing nearby." As he spoke, a mock-up demonstration played out on the vidscreen.

"Once triggered, it will send an alert to the ship's system, as well as the planet the beacon is tied to. With these forming a network within Omega Pyre territory, we'll have an early alert system that will trigger for any large fleet movement not on our records."

She gave a curt nod, still frowning, thinking, "How easy will it be for others to spot them?" She asked, her hand rising to touch the floating holo schematic, turning it and enlarging it for better view, keeping her profile to him as she studied the diagrams.

Sarge gave a faint grunt at Ayden's response, and that grunt nearly triggered the mic. Thankfully it did not. Sitting himself into a seat on the shuttle and making himself as comfortable as he could, his brown eyes flickered from one guard... to the other.

A slow, knowing grin appeared on his face.

Ayden would receive the same signal as before... plus another. Message received - he had five minutes.

She hid the faint upward quirk at the right corner of her mouth, her attention still upon the schematic. "Some may surprise you with luck, Mr. Cater."

A pause "What's your security's measure in place in case someone is so lucky?" It was a fact that a good part of OP tech was reverse technology. If this device did what it did.... The potential of use was unlimited... And if anyone else took it....

"Well let's first measure how "lucky" they'd have to be." Ayden held his hands up and began making gestures as he explained. "We're talking about a ship moving at speeds several orders of magnitude faster than anything we can achieve in realspace. The best analogy I can make, is that it would be like getting on a swoop bike, blind-folded, and racing towards a hole in a wall an unknown distance away, perfectly carved to fit the exact shape of you and the bike, and flying through that hole without hitting a thing."

He let that hang for measure before he went on. "At any rate, assuming someone could be so blindly lucky as to know of the existence of one of these buoys and managed to pick it up, the buoy would have to pass through the relativistic shielding of the ship. At that point, the buoy's internal chronometer would desync from the chronometer of our systems, triggering an alert. At that point, we'd have the option of sending a remote signal to remotely detonate the buoy." He turned and tapped the vidscreen a few times to bring up the relevant diagram. "They're secure."

The corner of her lip twitched, however she kept her bearing, still facing the schematics,"how long will production take?"

"Once I get this first one fully functioning, the rest will fall into place quickly. I estimate full coverage along the major hyperlanes within 96 hours." Ayden nodded in confidence as he looked at the device on the table. It wouldn't take much longer to finish assembling it. After that, the process would become much simplier. Everything was falling into place. Cira seemed suitably impressed. Now he just had to get that final piece...

"Hmm..." Chocolate brows rose subtly upwards, her thoughts her own for now.

She quietly studied the schematic further for a couple of more seconds, then she zoomed out and finally spared him a glance. " We'll done." There was no sarcasm or malice in her tone -- for once when it came to Ayden.

Pity that the upcoming events will likely make this the calm before the upcoming storm...

"I do my best to please." Ayden smiled genuinely and offered something approaching a proper smile, rather than a smirk. "Would you consider this a formal apology and call off the ice job so I can talk with my subordinate and iron things out?" It wasn't an unreasonable request really. Ayden just hoped that even this small gesture wouldn't be asking too much.

Cira narrowed her eyes at his counter. He played the up the new device to get her to change her mind about sending Sarge to Hoth. Her lips pursed as she contemplated his request. A soft brown brow rose as her hand dropped down to the array, where a single push of her finger shut off the holographic display.

"Reign him in, " She simply said thereafter, her face a stoic mask as she gave a half turn away from the array. Walking to the door she continued, "And he's yours."
