Traveling the Same Path

Serian Loria

In the shadows, at the fringe
He stared at the vessel and sighed, the creation had been old during his time, though now it was down right prehistoric. He look and fixed the man with a blank stare “This thing was considered old during my time and its a fossil now and you say this thing is new? I promise you, sparks are the last thing on my mind. Since you seem to have survived this ancient monstrosity, I’m going to assume its not ready to break apart just by looking at it. It instills a teeny modicum of confidence…

He walked up the ramp after that shaking his head, of all the ships in the galaxy this one had to choose what they’d be flying in now.

"New in terms that its been completely refurbished by CEC itself. Don't worry. I can't do anything if it starts to break, so I made sure that it wouldn't be doing that for a long time." He started towards the cockpit. "Ace, set us a course for Exocron, there's been a slight change in plans." A bark could be heard from the cock pit as the ship came to life under the work of his unseen copilot. Finally, the man spoke with his voice. Vulpesen hated having people in his head that weren't Ace. It was refreshing to finally hear words with his ears.

The bark got Serian’s attention, but otherwise he said nothing. He generally didn’t like dogs much, except for ones that were well trained and didn’t needlessly bark. He suspected it was probably a droid, but he wasn’t holding his breath, too many new things have long killed his assumptions on what something could be. “The Nubian royal starship is still by far the sleekest vessel I’ve ever seen. The battleships of the old republic and imperial design were nice as well, but for a smaller private vessel that sleek design never failed. I despised the tie fighters and for the life of me I wondered why we’d ever used the ridiculous things, but thankfully I was never drafted into the military like so many others. I intentionally failed those tests merely on principal, I liked the fighter designs of the republic ships instead.

The smooth lines and lack of unnecessary angles, made for a better ship. “Its a pity it was discontinued, it was impossible for anyone to have before, but after? I wonder if I could find something similar or have it crafted. It was fast, had power, but was made to avoid combat than participate. I’d rather outrun, out maneuver whatever might rear up in space than bother with taking it on head on. Better still if it also can hide were it to come to that, speed and stealth.

Vulpesen nodded to his words and entered the cockpit, turning to see Ace. One thing was for sure, Serian was dead wrong in Vulpesen's companion being a droid. The Ashlan wolf peeked around behind him from his piloting rig, taking notice of Serian. And who is this? A paying passenger. We met during the duel and I figured I could get some knowledge in exchange for a simple service. Even if Serian could feel he fluctuations in the force, he would be unable to know what went into the words, such was the nature of an ashlan bond.

"The noobian ships always seemed a bit to delicate to me. Though, I agree that the tie series was beyond a doubt, the worst idea I'd ever seen." He started to lift the ship from the ground, watching the planet grow smaller and smaller below them. "I'm sure there's some sort of vintage catalog somewhere. That's how I got my ship."

Lit ruby eyes noted the small canine, but otherwise he said and did nothing. He wasn’t overly fond of dogs, but mostly because the animals tended to be quite annoying. This one however wasn’t doing any of the things that normally irked him. Besides that, if the animal was the one the man had called out to, it meant that it was intelligent, possibly not even a pet. “I will have to look into it, but I’ll draw up the schematics for it and just have something of similar design built. I’d rather something modern instead of something found as an aging and refurbished relic. Besides that, I’d rather not end up on the bad end of the Nubian government because something of mine happened to be part of their beloved history. Its always considered ill form when one kills others over some small possession.

It went to show just how far he’d be willing to go to keep what was his, even if he would prefer not to have to resort to needless murder. “So, are you going to introduce me to your companion?

Vulpesen smiled and guided them to the stars, simply waiting for the computer to calculate their jump. "Fair enough. If I had any ability in mechanics, I'd be working on my ship to get it up to time with the rest of the galaxy. As it is, I've simply made sure that CEC didn't skimp when they made this one. I may not have the skills, but I've friends that do. As for killing over small possessions, I have to agree. That's probably where I differ from other sith. I believe that every death must have a good reason.

Serian's next question was accompanied by a beep from the navicomputer. "Ace." In a moment, Ace leaped onto the controls of the ship and grabbed the hyperspace level in his jaws, pushing it forward until the stars became star lines, then the wormhole of hyperspace. Once he made sure that they hadn't been blown to bits, he spun in his seat to face Serian motioned to the small glowing blue wolf. "This is Ace, my closest friend and copilot." He then motioned to Serian. "This is Serian Loria, our passenger from the Moross Crusade."

He gave the diminutive being a nod, but turned his attention back to the man. “You mentioned earlier that there is something you wish to accomplish that you feel that the Sith are the best suited to aid you with. I can’t know what best information to tell you if I don’t know what your goals are.

[member="Darth Tsolan"]

Vulpesen let out a small laugh as he heard the question. He should have expected it, still there were things he wasn't ready to discuss. "The information I seek, and my goals with the sith are two different things. I've all the knowledge I need to accomplish what I wish. No, the information I want simply regards your abilities, powers I saw you use that I've had my eye on for quite some time."

He chose a place to sit and then sat back eyeing the man “Then what holds you to the Sith?

It wasn’t in his nature to just, give up. He was patient and would be willing to spend hours talking, if only to spin the one he was talking around into revealing what he wanted. He’d been accused in the past for having a silver tongue and it was partially true, he could be when he wanted. In this case however it was mere curiosity and not to move his company where he wanted. The man before him intrigued him and that the Force pushed them together again only made him more so.

"Certain loyalties. If not to their order, there are people and causes I do fight for. The sith and I may not always see eye to eye, but for now, our paths are aligned. Much like ours. You wish for transportation that I am equipped to provide, and I wish for knowledge that you are equipped to provide. Our paths align and thus we work together until this is no longer true." As always, Vulpesen saw things in terms of trade, years of a merchants life having taken its hold.

He didn’t feel pressing would get him any further, so he simply gave up. If he saw another opportunity he’d certainly seize on it however, the more he learned the better it might serve him or the Crusade. “The two main things I did was manipulate seeds, alter the ground around us and ignite the air. I noticed you were particularly displeased with the plant I used?

[member="Darth Tsolan"]

Vulpesen nodded as he listened to his words. "I've made a blade of grass and wood, but only once. As for igniting the air, that's something I've never really thought of, certainly never practiced." Ace leaped form his place in the piloting rig to Vulpesen''s shoulder. "As for my dislike of the plant, my nose is fairly sensitive and I could almost smell it through my mask. I actually put m armor in a fire to rid it of the stench."

Serian shook his head “If the climate hadn’t already been so hot, I wouldn’t have been able to ignite the air without more preparation. However where we fought fire and earth were dominant, thus I could produce flames easier. As for the plants… That was simply in retaliation for hurting my ears, I was deaf after that first hit, seemed only fair I deprive you of a sense as well. Actually, I’m more surprised you aren’t more upset at me for setting your tail on fire.

[member="Darth Tsolan"]

Tsolan twitched at the mention and flicked his tail behind him. "Oh at the time I was quite eager to rip your throat out and turn it into a chew toy. Lucky for you, my fur has regrown since them. Though, i suppose now that you mention it, its not too late to jettison you out into space." Despite his normal somber tone,t here was something about it and the way he felt in the force, saying that he didn't quite intend to be rid of his new passenger.

The ruby eyed archivist just snorted “You’d not like the cost trying would reap.” While it wasn’t impossible to kill a force user, trying on a small vessel like this, when the one is as strong as he, would result in the high risk of death for all involved. He would still die, but he would do his damnedest to crush the small ship, but thankfully it was merely a toothy jest. “Truth be told I’m often rather disinclined to fight… Its not that I dislike violence, it just suits my needs better to bring the one before me to my side of things, then if I cannot, violence. I like it much better to have you as an ally.

[member="Vulpesen"] ((Sorry it took so damned long >< ))

Vulpesen let out a small chuckle. "Quite possibly. Never know till we try." He rose a jesting brow at Serian while one of his hands reached down to start petting Ace. "Combat is a necessity in my life. Something I embraced even as a jedi. I just don't believe in death. As strange as the noticing sith find it, I think that all life is useful. Killing is only a waste of resources, as is the rejection of possible allies."

He didn’t believe in death, interesting notion, but it didn’t change the fact that it happened. “You mean the end of one’s being, not the end of one’s body, yes? Otherwise I’d call you a fool for a body can die, though I know not if one still lives on in another aspect after, only those gone truly know.

He’d heard rumors of ‘force ghosts’ but having not experienced the phenomena himself, he was skeptical. He would have been rather put off if some specter of his past decided to come back. The dead should stay so and he’d amassed quite a few that he’d rather never see again. “Every life has potential, death wastes it.

[member="Vulpesen"]

Vulpesen smiled a bit as Serian spoke. "You misunderstand me. I mean I do not believe in death as an answer. As you say, every life has potential." That's the one thing I hate about these sith. They are inefficient. They will choose their own petty squabbles over the efficiency of the whole. Such may even be what creates their ultimate downfall."
