Treading Common Ground

Kay’s inquiry about Adron’s upbringing was not much of a surprise. In fact it was just about where he suspected her questions would land. Already prepared to answer, he offered a simple shrug in return. “Two questions with the same answer.” He told her.

“My father was Count Avius Malvern of Serenno. I was born in his mountain estate, Blackgate. A beautiful snow-covered estate with a view that could rival the plains of Naboo.” He said, recalling his love for his home and the lands that surrounded it.

“My upbringing was that of the Nobility on Serenno. I'm sure you can imagine. A host of tutors, trained to teach me about politics, business, war, history, etiquette, and all else I would need to take on the title of Lord of Blackgate, and Count of Serenno. I was my parents first born boy, yet their third child. My parents were practiced Jedi Knights who trained each of their children in the Jedi arts.”

Clasping his hands together on the table, Adron offered another shrug. “Not a typical upbringing by any means, but a happy one. I was good at almost everything I did, my family loved me, I had sizeable wealth, and even a promising future. What more could a boy want?”

“After my family died I abandoned the Jedi way, I decided not to allow the Force to define who I am. It was only recently I began studying in the ways of the Force again.”

Kay ate quietly while [member="Adron Malvern"] spoke. She heard some of what she had expected; that being that he was raised in nobility, was the heir to a kingdom and was trained in various studies.

But what she didn't expect was that he was trained to be a Jedi, along with his parents. "Jedi...nobility? They allowed that? When I was younger, Jedi were forbidden for serving in politics. They weren't trusted." She was also nearly executed for it when the Republic Prime Minister had found out about her abilities. Then she was fired when the new Prime Minister was elected. Since then she was quite tight lipped about her Force Sensitivity.

"What brought you into service for the Empire?"

Adron hosted an amused look as Kay spoke. “For the past few hundred years the Malvern Family has been host to at least one Jedi Knight. Until now. My father was trained by his father, and his father before him. My father was also the one who trained my mother. On my home world my parents were not trusted by many of the other royal families. Yet the people loved them.” He told her.

“Ah, another good question, and a long story. Well, my father had placed his faith in a unified cluster of Governments known as The Dominion. He was named Warden of Serenno, before he was killed, and when he died that title fell to me. I served the Dominion as best I could, I was only a boy. But in the end, as all things do, the Dominion fell. I had earned some prowess in my time as Warden and the Galactic Empire took notice of this. The rest is history.” There was more to that story, much more. Yet Adron would not share unless directly asked.

"Most don't trust Force Users in power...." She finished off her breakfast while [member="Adron Malvern"] continued. It was nice to know that his family had the support of their people, despite what they were. That said a lot about respect.

And then he mentioned the Dominion. Kay knew of it well enough. She chose this time to pick up the dishes and to start washing them, keeping her back towards him in a bid to hide her dismay. It was a bit of a sore subject. "I know of the Dominion. My husband helped their young King for a time. We both supported them. That is until the Dominion lost it's way and stepped away from the basis of it's founding. In a way, I'm thankful. It brough Veiere back home to me." Multiple times in their relationship they had been seperated. It was...almost normal for them to be apart. Thank goodness for Force Bonds.

Adron stood up, handing his plate to Kay as she spoke of the Dominion. “Misguided fools and wishful fanatics. The Dominion my father fought for died with him. The result of the errant cause is Wolfe’s new regime, who believes murder and torture are necessary for leading your people.” The disgust in his words was not easily missed, yet as he rose to his feet, he offered Kay a thankful nod of the head. “Thank you for breakfast and a good chat. However I need to get back to work.”

Turning out of the kitchen, Adron called back to Kay, a soft smile on his face. “We’ll have to do this again sometime.” He offered, before making his way down the halls.

Wolfe. The Ancient Eye. It made her wonder what [member="Adron Malvern"] would think if he knew that [member="Mythos"] had built a temple in her honour at their Capital. There were slaves that tended to it and they were so brainwashed that freeing them only put them into a great depression. Visiting that Capital city always made her uncomfortable on so many levels.

Kay continued to wash the dishes, not wanting to leave a mess for the others to clean up. "The Ancient Eye will probably lose it's luster before long. So many of that ilk do." She nodded as Adron dismissed himself. "I'll see you later." A smirk soon followed as he remarked on them sharing a meal again. Given that he was now her Royal Advisor, they were bound to be spending a lot of time together. At least while he was under her employ, anyways.
