Getting hugged always felt so unfamiliar to him. Perhaps the Kel Dor had grown up a bit starved. He was certainly never somebody’s first pick when picture something as cute and cuddly that was for sure. Nonetheless he’d hug Jonyna back, as well as Rayia in their little group embrace. Both Ko and Jonyna likely smothered the smaller Felacatian as well.

Once they all got back to the tree Ko thought for a bit on how to get back up the tree. He thought back to his own hands. Remembering that he had claws of his own as well. Hooking his fingers, he attempted to climb up the tree like a cat. Despite being rather brawny he was never much of a climber. He didn’t possess the same finger strength. Even while trying to use a mild amount of soft to solid on his fingers and claws he couldn’t quite dig into the bark.

Eventually the Kel Dor slid back down some onto the ground, landing on his rear. Perhaps that was something he would need to work on in the future. Taking some rock climbing classes to develop his finger and grip strength. Being able to climb up even flat surfaces would be pretty rad afterall.

Instead Ko would take a more familiar approach to ascending steep inclines. Bending his legs some he propelled himself up to a wide branch with a mighty jump and leap. Each time going up a few stories until he got to where Jonyna and Rayia were. Entering some hut with them where a supposedly elderly cathari woman was waiting for them. Where he took one of the seats.

The woman paused as she looked to the two with soft, old eyes. "It's not too often anymore we get outsiders joining the pride." She spoke in Basic, clearly a second language that wasn't completely understood. "Still, we believe that Sylvar watches over all of us. No matter the species." She pulled a large brush out of the pot, covered in a strange ink-like substance that almost looked like Molasses.. "Rayia, was it? Show me your legs. I'm sure you were expecting the tattoos that other cultures do. No, this is our way. I will warn you both, it is very hot."

The old woman’s demeanor seemed welcoming. Her soft words eased some of the apprehension that Rayia was feeling as the trio gathered around the bubbling stove. ‘I wonder when they received an outsider to their pride then, if it isn’t all too common anymore,’ Rayia thought to herself. She ran her hand along the rough surface of the log she was sitting on.

Feeling the rough bark of the wood beneath her fingers helped Rayia momentarily set aside her apprehension. It was just something about the way that the grain bit into her fingers that let her box the fear up. Rayia sucked in a deep breath. She was ready. At least until the old woman directed her attention to the boiling pitch like molasses.

Rayia’s ears shot up. She’d been preparing herself to be poked and prodded. Being burnt was an entirely different thing. The breath in her lungs seemed to disappear in a fleeting gasp. Unconsciously, she was sucking in short little breaths though her lungs still felt empty. ‘Of course irony wants me to go first,’ Rayia thought to herself.

“Uhm, okay.” She said, scooting closer to the woman. Downy fur poked up as Rayia bared her legs before glancing up towards the ceiling and squeezing her eyes tightly shut.

Ko listened to the elder cathar. Who mentioned the uniqueness of the two off-worlders joining the pride. That wasn’t new for him. He had gotten quite used to being so alien within the groups and cultures he found himself immersed in.

He tried his best to visualize the contents of the pot through The Force. It seemed rather thick and viscous. The elderly woman also explained that getting tattoos here was different as well, and hot. Ko personally wasn’t aware of any other way of getting tattooed. So his interest was certainly piqued. But Rayia didn’t seem all that thrilled to be going first, which he could understand.

Unsure what to really do with himself, the curious Kel Dor simple sat tight and watched closely through The Force.

The elder woman took the large brush, bringing it over to Rayia Si Rayia Si 's legs in long practiced strokes, painting each leg in triangular patterns. Upon first touch, it was like the feeling of her leg being dipped into a hot spring, but...thicker. Like honey. Slowly, the ink sunk down from Rayia's fur, then to her skin. Then deeper, Rayia could feel it. The ink set slowly, but Rayia could feel it. It seeped into her roots, permanently staining them.

<You are now Cathar.> The woman said in a calm, almost mystic manner. <Welcome to the tribe, kitten.>

Jonyna leaned on Ko Vuto Ko Vuto slightly, "You're up next kiddo."

The quick, sharp breaths that Rayia took as she watched that brush cross the distance from the pot to her legs hissed from between her teeth. Rayia’s slit-like pupils in her golden eyes contracted narrower and narrower. She watched unwaveringly as the viscous, oily droplets fell hissing to the bark of the tree. The back of her nape itched like fire, as thicker, metallic like hair started to sprout.

Even still, Rayia did her best to dig in and remain unmoving. She could feel the beast within squirming and writhing within its restraints as the brush neared and eventually contacted her skin. Rayia tasted acrid copper on her tongue. She hadn’t even noticed that her fangs were long enough to cut her lips, glittering and gleaming in the fading, orange light.

Rayia’s legs trembled with suppressed shudders as the warmth started to seep into her fur and across her skin. ‘I hope that isn’t gonna warp the lines,’ Rayia somehow managed to rationalize in her anxiety. Sucking in a deep breath, Rayia cast her mind away from here. To when Jonyna had swept the shorter Felacatian into her arms and asked to adopt her.

Being reminded of why she was submitting herself to this discomfort helped. Rayia managed a toothy, if shaky smile at the elder when she was pronounced Cathar. She wanted to give a gift in kind. Something she could use to show how much it meant to her. She was very glad to have practiced Cathar with Jonyna.

Dipping her head slightly, Rayia said <“Thank you, elder,”> in a profoundly musical accent.

Given Ko’s lack of eyes it was a little difficult for him to discern what was going on. To him it seemed more like they were painting over Rayia’s fur and skin. Ko wondered how it might look for him, knowing that he wouldn’t really be able to see it until he might get his eyes back.

The Kel Dor then nodded as Jonyna addressed him and he removed his boots to pull up his loose pants to allow for easy access. He wondered how his more textured skin might affect the process. Wondering if his raisin-like skin affects the look of it. Although he didn’t know it, he was also concerned about not warping the image like Rayia had a moment ago. The young Kel Dor was normally rather self conscious about his body, partly why he was so adamant on wearing traditional robes to cover and drop over his features. But right now he was too intrigued and immersed in the moment for his doubts to manifest.

The Elder gave Rayia Si Rayia Si a soft smile, as Jonyna put a hand on Rayia's shoulder, giving her a mother's proud eyes.

The Elder then shifted to Ko Vuto Ko Vuto , once more dipping the brush into the pot of ink, before using her soft fingers of fur to pull on Ko's skin slightly. She made sure to not make it painful, but she needed the skin as taut as it could be. With a careful hand, she began. The feeling of steamy water overtook Ko's skin, like being dipped in a hot bathtub.

"Now hold still young one, this will only take a minute." The elder instructed, as Jonyna tended to Rayia.

<I'm so proud of you, daughter of mine...>

Shoulders still shaking, Rayia didn’t look up immediately as she felt the weight of a hand settle onto her shoulder. She stared rather at the way in which the pitch like substance soaked into her roots and stained her tawny fur black. It didn’t hurt as much as she expected it to, making her feel somewhat foolish for panicking in the way she had.

That isn’t to say it didn’t hurt. The pitch was still searing into her roots, sending a prickling wave of heat across Rayia’s legs. It was enough for the Felacatian’s mind to latch onto. Her fear making the experience worse and rousing the beast further.

Or at least it would have if Rayia had not at that moment been swept into hearing a familiar voice speak such soothing words in a language that was not entirely Rayia’s own but could be. It took a moment for Rayia to find her voice.

<“Am I your daughter now? Should I take your name to be mine?”> The question, sounded slightly garbled as Rayia attempted to speak around her growing fangs and the growing dryness of her throat.

Ko would simply do as the elder asked of him. Matching intently and closely through The Force on how she was applying his markings. Since he wouldn’t be able to really see what they looked like he wanted to have as detailed of a mental map of where they were on his body as he could as he felt his skin getting brushed. Inhaling sharply through his antiox mask as he did so.

Because of his focus the Kel Dor wasn’t really paying any attention to Jonyna and Rayia and the moment they were sharing. Ko didn’t even want to be distracted by his own thoughts as he watched the ink seemingly disappear from his view, as if the elder was marking him with invisible ink.

<“Am I your daughter now? Should I take your name to be mine?”>
<Of course you can, if only you want to.> Jonyna smiled with pride. Rayia Si. There was a ring to that she could love as a mother. She wouldn't ask them to do so, but if they wished of their own, she certainly wouldn't say no.

But regardless of what they called themselves, they were now Sis.

She looked over to Ko, as the elder carefully brushed his legs, the ink setting in quickly. Careful triangles drawn on his legs. Would either of them find a mate? She wouldn't know, but she knew in her culture, they would now be open to the option. They were adults now. Her son and daughter...
