Mig just growled a bit, feeling something coming. He wasn't one to pick up on things like this, so if he was feeling it, something was definitely wrong! He hit his comms, quickly calling out.

"All Pikes, pick people up now! All ground vessels pack them quick and tight and get off the ground now! Adenn! We need to get out of here now!"

"This is Med-1. We're full and lifting off now. Gunners at the ready."

"Courier Tal'har here. We'll get in front and assist with debris cutting, vod."

"Folker, powering up."

"This is the Bastion, we're loading the last, locking the doors, and taking off the moment I have a seal."

"Hunter Hawk, taking off and jumping instead of landing on Star Phoenix." Mig looked out, rushing some people to one of the nearby gunships.

"Alor, we need to get the fal...." Mig shot his fellow Mandalorian a look, right through both their helmets. Even without a face there was an urgency in it. He just nodded, taking a breath. "That means we have some room." Mig quickly motioned for everyone they could get on board to follow as he climbed up, getting into a turret seat to help keep the gunship safe.

"Where's Fora?" One of the Netherhounds there looked down.

"One of the Maw got her good.... Told us to fall back." Mig just stared. Of karking course she did. Why wouldn't she? He gripped the turret controls a bit tighter as the gunship began to take off. He'd make sure to give the Maw forces a good peppering from the rotary cannon as they took off. Evac ships were running cause they had to. Not necessarily the best option for sure, but it was what they could do. If the CR90s followed.... He didn't want to think about it.

Lichix appeared from treeline just as her ship landed at the agreed upon location. The Rattataki warrior was not in the best shape as she limped forward. Her eyes was bruised, she had several burn marks on her arms and legs. Her clothes were in tatters as she decided against any heavy armoring. She had hoped that stealth would be enough. And in the end it was. She left the jungles of Panatha with her life. The same could not be said about most of those she had come across who had fought on the side of the Maw. Lichix was slightly disappointed that she had not come across any true Sith. But there were other times to test her mettle. Other times after she received more training in the Force. Other times after she killed her father and took her true place on Rattatak.

Gavid had put the ship down within feet of where the marker was on the map. It turned out he was as good as he claimed and had done much to earn his freedom. Lichix hoped against hope that he would accept his offer of employment when said freedom was granted. Lichix desired to return home. Desired to take her father’s place as warlord, but she had no desire to be content to stop there and remain stagnant as her people seemed to enjoy. Doing nothing buy warring amongst themselves. That was not how Lichix would rule.

The landing ramp descended and Lichix limped her way inside the ship. “I believe I have done my required killing for now. That I have proved my worth and will be in a position to move on Rattatak with the blessing and backing of the Eternal Empire. Gavid. Let’s lift off. But don’t leave in haste. There might be some garbage for us to clean up, or better yet some Imperials to save.”

Mercy managed to stay conscious, and that was a victory. Kallan could only absorb a little of her pain; he was just a vestige, a shadow of a man, and he had little strength to lend her. The strength to endure that pain, to keep going through all the suffering she had experienced, was almost all from Mercy herself. She was tough, even when pushed to the very limit. Now, with a new hope in her heart, she had pulled back from the brink. It might just be enough to get them out of here, to escape this hidden lair of Tu'teggacha's. It might even be enough to rescue the twins, to win this shadow war after all.

But the odds were still stacked against them, and despite her hope, Mercy recognized it. ~ You're right, ~ Kallan said. There was no point in lying, no reason to try to make things seem less desperate than they really were. Mercy would know if he tried to deceive her, and it wouldn't help them to have false hope anyway. ~ When he finds out that we're gone, he'll come after us with everything he's got. Now that he has the twins, he'll do everything in his power to keep his hold on them... and to punish you for defying him. ~ And if they were on Exegol? Well, they wouldn't be able to run far.

Escaping from the hidden throneworld of the Sith was all but impossible.

But they had an ally, as Mercy had pointed out. A strange ally, to be sure, but perhaps the only person within the savage Maw that they could actually call upon for help. The Mongrel had found him on Durace, and had anointed him as his successor. Ironic, then, that he was blood kin to the very man who had killed Asher on Tython... but that had all been part of The Mongrel's long term plan to bring his rival to grief and ruin. Now that decision might instead be the salvation of Asher's loved ones. ~ It's a good idea, ~ Kallan agreed. ~ We'll have to reach the surface to get a signal to him, though. ~

And if they were lucky, maybe they weren't on Exegol.

They would find out soon enough. Working together, their thoughts as one, Kallan and Mercy finished reprogramming the medical droid. With a little beep-chirp that acknowledged its new task, the droid rose back up and grabbed ahold of Mercy's hovering cot. It began to push the cot out of the cell, the door sliding open for it thanks to its security clearance. The other two droids, programmed to watch Mercy and keep her healthy, followed along behind them. They did not question where they were going. Tu'teggacha kept their programming simple, so that they would never question him in any way.

~ We're almost to the turbolift, ~ Kallan said, watching through Mercy's eyes.

~ As soon as we reach the surface, we can get a signal to Barran. ~

It had been years, if not decades since Kyrel wielded the spear of midnight black. The dark spear had flowed a little in his hand through the Force. When he launched it he hoped the desperate move might make an effort. She had failed to take him into the darkest depths of the abyss, and she would suffer the consequences for it. The spear made from darkness itself would match her shadow tendrils piercing right through them. The tendrils would dissipate in an instant, and still the lance didn’t slow or stop it’s momentum.

When the spear had impaled into her he laughed. The laugh of a madman would echo throughout the bridge. Admits the discharges of violent energy and the whispers of the Sith tongue that had echoed throughout the room. Just as Kyrel was an entity of his own so was she. Black smoke came from her on a way that black liquid ooze would spurt from his own wounds. He loosened his grip on the Hunger for a moment to study the wound he had made. “You really dropped the spear there… All you had to do was simply catch it not let it stick you.” He said mockingly towards her. His tone of voice taking in delight out of injuring her alone.

The Hunger from within tried to keep pushing through her barrier. Dark waves would bash against the wall holding in all off his darkness. If the wall failed he would begin to spread the draining hunger out to the world below. Just as his focus was reaching its apex, he found himself slammed against the wall. “Oof.” He let out as he felt the snapping of bones and ligaments on impact. Kyrel couldn’t quite register it as pain, but more of a nuisance than anything else.

He growled when he attempted to move. Bones kept snapping, and he thought shreds of his own muscle tissue were hanging from his body as he tried to will himself against her power. His eyes soon met her fierce icy stare bore into his very being. “You… Will not stop me.” He said in a grunt, his arm struggling to move towards his saber. Aided by his willpower and the dark side that fueled him, he made one move with his hand igniting the lightsaber’s crimson blade. While he was held against the wall, his limbs snapping and breaking when he tried to struggle the dead man would violently throw his saber in her direction in her direction. He would only hope she would release her hold to focus on the red blade coming towards her.

Objective 3: Fight

Perhaps Eina wasn't a nihilist, after all she did believe that life was worthy of being saved, it's why she mourned the death's of all. It would be more accurate to say that she was a nihilist in regards to the actions of all, and only cared for the souls of everyone. Eina didn't care for what happened in the over world, seeing it all as being wiped clean on death, or at least that's how Zachariel understood her thought process. But even if that was true, it was a thought process that Zachariel would never understand, nor did he want to.

She could continue on as she always had, and he would as he had. All that would change is the field of battle and who waged the wars. And so he laughed at her, at her naivety, and her belief that the various factions weren't all the same at their core. Oh, the further from that core one got, the more varied they became. But at the center, they all desired power and control, to remain at the top, no matter what they may say to others.
"Yes, you said something very funny."

Snorting, Zachariel sneered beneath his helm.
"How many warriors on your own side no longer desire to fight? Tell me how many shy away from what they've become, yet struggle to leave it behind when the time comes. Nothing and no one is perfect, but we all strive towards it. And at the core of every group, every soldier, is someone who was changed. Altered to try and reach that perfection for that group, that individual. You sit there, thinking that your own soldiers are different, changed but the same. They are fundamentally different from who they once were, every soldier is. I find your naivety hilarious, your thoughts that they are the same no matter what, funny."

Shaking his head once more, Zachariel motioned around himself.
"Give anyone enough time and they will change, it doesn't matter who, doesn't matter where, or why. Everyone changes, some drastically, others barely at all, but there is change. Mongrel changed because of this Mercy, changing drastically from who he was and who he always was meant to be."

Zachariel shook his head at her again, she still didn't understand. She didn't believe that the Maw were strong, and yet if one were to look around one could see just how powerful they were. They had taken territory in unexpected rates, laid low countless more worlds and were such a threat that the entire galaxy had united against them. Oh, others still fought one another, but their grudges were secondary to their desire and need to face down the Maw. On an individual level, perhaps she was right, but that came to training. The others trained their warriors and then sent them into battle, the Maw trained their warriors in battle, giving them all bloody, first hand experience in combat.

As the two fought on, she continued with her rhetoric, one that Zachariel couldn't understand or believe. She denied herself what she truly was, and the warlord pitied her for it. One day she would admit it, or she would perish as all others did. Leaping forward to fight once more, Zachariel instead was launched through a portal and onto the world of Panatha. Coming to a halt as Eina emerged through the portal behind him, the warlord scowled deeply.
"You never fight, always trying the same things, over and over again."

Scoffing loudly, Zachariel launched himself at Eina again, careful to avoid the portal for now, knowing it may have been changed.
"When will you learn, fight me!"

The Devourer shoots again, this blast hits the edge of the space port. This begins a series of chain reactions of explosions set to swallow the spaceport and all within. Go, go, go, flee!
Pre-planned shot to take place around post 360, agreed upon with EE and Maw staff.

High in space, the Devourer loomed. Wounded it may be, damaged and bleeding yes, but it was dangerous, far more dangerous than any cornered animal. On and on she fought, taking on all comers and holding its own, never giving ground or stopping. And even in all that chaos, the command crew of the Devourer still sought to deny the Eternals their due, to deny them hope. That was what they wanted after all, hope, that they could save others, deny the Maw the bloodshed they sought, and salvage a populace.

But even that the Maw sought to deny, even that they would rip from the hands of the Eternals and their allies. If but given the chance they would take it all, leaving nothing but ash and rubble for all but themselves. With that thought in mind, that intent in their actions, the guns were adjusted and corrections made from the first shots. Barrels swiveling and commands made, the crew of the Devourer served even as their master fought. Nothing would stand in their way, nothing would stop them.

As final corrections were made, the guns charged, the MegaCaliber turbolaser prepped. And with the push of but a single button, it was all over. The course of this shot had been altered, with no chance of it hitting an ATC now, it was guaranteed to hit the ground. With a certain savage glee, the gunner of the turbolaser pressed the button, sending a devastating shot towards Canthar Spaceport, towards the refugees and defenders there. It streaked through space, between warships that fought it out, through the atmosphere of Panatha, and into the ground.

With the fury of a thousand suns, the blast crashed into the spaceports perimeter, right through a shield generator right on the edge of the evacuation site. Smashing through the shield and into the generator itself, the blast left a crater and explosion that instantly swallowed the two nearest evacuation ships. The generator exploded as well, a minor flash in the glare of the first blast. Secondary explosions in the evacuation ships were just as minor, even as the blast spread, and chaos ensued.

A chain reaction began then, of death, destruction, and further explosions. This wave of death spread, seeking to consume all within the spaceport. Every last soul there, from the lowest refugee, to the highest leader, they were all in the way of this blast.

TRIBULATIONS OF THE WILDCATS III: A FOREST AFLAME - PART 14
5oOzXbs.png
Markwood Marshes, Spirewatch Forest,
Canthar Province, Panatha (Early-Spring 877 ABY)

'Sieur.... We can hear hostilités just beyond the treeline, what is our next move?'

'Good work, Sergeant-', Lord Aron started, intending to continue his amble without pausing but he found himself interrupted by distant screams, and a sort of which the Kellas had often prayed he would never have to face or see for the rest of his life. Gritting his teeth, the Major-General almost didn't want to say it, but as soon as he uttered,'Voices of the risen dead, lad. Our plan just changed.', Lord Aron knew there was no other option but to identify the Scar Hounds' new Warlord at a safe distance. And with the previously-pointless tech they brought along for the purpose they had become reliant on by then, Gowrie was once again resigned to admitting the truth in saying,'Looks like we'll be needing those scanner-droids after all.... So be it, but we need the others to fall in - set to it.', sneering at the distant wails of the undead as the young Anaxsi sergeant set to the task at hand.

Of course it would get complicated at the last hurdle....
Of course it would.

'Canni even allow us a clean, retinal visual.... O Lord, Almighty Dia - light the way, light my path. Please!'

Scott stepped out from his place just twenty yards behind him, hearing the prayer and understanding exactly where his mind was wandering at the time, but choosing instead to prohibit all senses of despair and dismay from leaving their marks as he cut in,'You should be one to know that prayers are hindrances in the Heart of the Crucible.... "For He walks with us in valour - forever standing proudly at our backs.", as I walk with you, forever guarding yours.', quoting Goidelic scripture and shaking his Major-General's hand as a brother would. However, in seeing the look in Lord Aron's eye, Lord Byron asked,'What is it that plagues your mind like this anyways? Tough choice to make or something like that?', maintaining his loyal, calm demeanour throughout.

'Its my first ever coin-toss in the field, Byron. You know what that means.... An' this one flick of the coin itself will decide the fates of everyone who broke through with us - a toughy for sure.'

Knowing that the Reiver-Lord would stick with him despite heads or tails, the Kellas looked to the mass of Galidraani, Dantooinan and Anaxsi huntsmen as they filed in one by one, holding up the coin of fate with index and thumb as he quietly said,'Choosing heads-side to my left, choosing tails-side to my right.... Winners earn their way back to Coyle's defensive line, losers push on with me. Split off now, please.', watching everyone parting down the middle as he lined the coin up at the edge of his thumbnail. Then before anyone had any time to change their minds, up flew the small, golden disc as it tumbled through the air in it's low-climbing trajectory, whirling on it's way down to the muddy, wet ground between them; and within moments, the Major-General had strolled over to look down at the results, looking to the choosers on his left with a clearly pained smile on his face.

'Its heads, lads.... For those leaving, good luck an' keep yer heads down.... For those marching forth with Scott & I, welcome to the wild bit.... Walkin' into the deepest chit the-gither now, lads. No even jokin' either. Wish I was though.'

And with just as little warning or chance to change their minds at the last second, Gowrie brought all the scanner-droid launch packs to the center of the clearing in preparation for his last briefing of the day, trying his utmost to keep the shrieking, garbling screams of the undead from distracting him when proper focus was needed more than anything else. The sounds of war were distant behind their position, but the sounds of living voices intermingled in contest with those voices of the dead among them, and though the words were indecipherable from as far back as the clearing they held by then, there was no doubt the tones of differing Galidraani elements were hollering with the loudest, most-brazen intent over yonder.

'No longer can we assure everyone's safety beyond this point, as retinal, tangible ID is no longer viable. We need to get close enough to throw in scanner-droids, an' from there.... We take our readings, we turn back an' run faster than we've ever run before. This is the only plan that remains to us now, an' there's plenty reason for that - namely the fact we're dealing with zombies for the first time in almost a decade.'

All within earshot would turn their gaze to the Kellas as soon as he mentioned what was making such inhuman screams in the fog, but despite the fact all were exhibiting clear signs of fearfulness, Lord Aron knew this sort of fear would be beneficial for the sort of endeavour they were all setting out on together, the sort of fear he knew he could exploit to it's fullest in the hastening back towards the battle's main static-line. The Major-General needed the other members of the hunting party as fearful as possible, as hypervigilant as he could hope for, and as night continued to draw in around the Markwood, he knew such fears would yield adrenal results of the likes none could foresee but the Kellas himself. This was the moment, and as Lord Aron picked up his own droid's launch-pack, he closed his eyes and inhaled through his nostrils for the last time that day - ready to fight like a savage until the next morning's sanguine sunrise.

'Dia be with you, gentlemen.... Lets move.'

And into the Heart of the Crucible we go, and go with the fire of fear in our hearts.
That sort of fire that either saves us or kills us all, one by one.

Just as the two jetpacks were about to fly in both directions of the corridor, we both stopped. He also tugged on my body, which was extremely unpleasant. After that, the whole situation was as if time had stopped. It was as if we were stuck in that moment, even forever. For a few moments it was like a dramatic scene from a holomovie. The world slowed down, the sounds were muffled and there was only this scene, this moment and nothing else.

Apart from the sound of the two jetpacks, no other sound could be heard, the sounds of the side of the ship, the death roars or screeches of the corridor became quieter. What I heard was the burning engine of the jetpack and my own panting and heartbeat. It was as if my earlier words were still echoing, even though it only existed in my mind, nowhere else. I knew for a fact that they couldn't be heard out in the corridor.

And of course, the pain! It was the pain that finally pulled me back to reality and reminded me of our situation. I don't know how long we can stay like this, who will give up first. While I was thinking about this, Kralmus did something I didn't expect. He suddenly shut down his own jetpack.

<"FETH!"> I exclaimed in surprise.

And the laws of physics went into action, and I began to fly towards the end of the corridor, where the closed door was. Fortunately, there were no injuries on the floor here, so I wouldn't die, but neither would he.

~ MANIAC! ~ I screamed in my mind.

I would have already reached for the shut off button on my own jetpack, but the AI shut it down faster. The momentum carried me even further back, and a few metres before the end of the corridor I already fell to the ground, but the momentum carried me further. Needless to say, I dropped my pistol metres earlier. I slid along the floor, all the way to the closed door, to which I bumped with my back and head. I got even more dizzy, but at least there was nowhere to slide from here.

I tried to sit up from the lying position when I heard his words.

<"I can't say I'm glad you're having fun…!"> I groaned in pain.

I hoped that he had not yet broken free, but was still in the grip of the cord, and hopefully even the "speaxe" had fallen out of his hand. Feth! Fortunately, my wounds didn't tear open, but it didn't mean that they didn't hurt a lot, and I also hit my head first, so now I was also slightly, quite dizzy.

<"It's hard for me to tell if you're an accomplished fighter or an overgrown pre-schooler, Kralmus."> I told him. <"I'm sure you're having a great time, but please surrender!">

I wasn't too scary, I was sure of that, since I still couldn't get up from the ground, and I was only kneeling and leaning on my hands. To be safe, I pulled the cord towards me, partly pulled back into the vambrace. I didn't want it to loosen on the man, because then he could escape.

And that would be unpleasant!

VERY unpleasant!

Aemulor smiled and shouted orders to the troops under his command, his waves of fear wear only marginally effective against battle hardened storm troopers but the slightest hesitation in a heated battle was often enough to to turn the tide. But his hubris was beginning to get the better of him and while his point of the lines was strongest and his influence was beginning to allow his men to make advances, his flanks were collapsing and the bulge he was forming was beginning to be encircled by storm troopers.

He lashed out with his fat arm and lightning surged forth again, coursing through a group of enemy soldiers that had been so bold as to try and assault the hutt directly. "Majordomo thrak nalt izub droids! let izish satig these dogs kurrauz u amal ulu came from" he yelled! His last line was a squad of privately owned ancient B3 ultra-battle droids, they were giant relics of a bygone era but their power was immense. "Majordomo amal are lat?" he shouted again as there was no response from his usually reliable majordomo.

Aemulor looked around at his barge which burned from multiple hits, in time to see his private skiff disappearing into the distance, the twi'lek had abandoned his side in his moment of glorious conquest. His anger welled further and he yellow eyes glowed as he lurched into battle faster than and creature so corpulent should be able to. He swung his giant light saber across and cut down a group more storm troopers that had advanced on him. Using the force he pulled another enemy warrior into his hand, grasping his head in his giant muscular hand and crushing his skull.

The big hutt was lost in his anger and his darkness and too blinded by hatred to sense his tactical situation, this anger was filtering out into his mind controlled warriors also, further weakening his battlefield positions as groups soldiers recklessly charged into the guns of the enemy storm troopers. A normal commander would have retreated by now but the dark gods, unbeknownst to the beast, had a plan, and were leading Aemulor right in to it.

After the complete lack of interest before, I now felt that my heart was beating faster and I felt that I was getting excited, just because I thought that Manifold could help. I knew in my mind that it might just be a false hope, that it would never come true. Manifold might not even be alive anymore, but my heart and soul wanted this, wanted this more than anything. If not him, then I must find someone else who can help me with this, there are among the Sith who can do this. I shouldn't have hoped and clutching to this, because it was possible to be disappointed and fall even bigger.

In the past, when I tortured others for Asher… for Mongrel, before he started to change, I used hope as a weapon many times. I instilled hope in the victim that he could stay alive and be saved. At the time, I enjoyed seeing the way that hope died in their eyes when they realised it was over. I have changed, as has my husband. I still would, but only with the people who were responsible for Asher's death; with the people, who make me feel this excruciating and unbearable pain.

I looked at Kallan in surprise when he agreed with my words and did not contradict. Most people would have tried to lie in such a situation.

~ Thank you for telling the truth, it means a lot. ~ I told him.

Yes, I was aware of that too, he would do anything to punish and torture me. I was the only one who defied him, and successfully. I lied to him for years, as did Asher through me, that is, with my help. We both humiliated him, if it ever turns out what I did, that the Mongrel died before Tython and there was only Asher remained, that he became disillusioned with the Maw, the Avatars over many years, that the method of the Heathen Priests and the Taskmaster was reversible. The Maw would lose the Scar Hounds Tribe.

The clan would break from within, if they would have ever learned their founding warlord had betrayed them, turned away from them. If they knew the truth, a lot of people would die. When we got married, I promised to always protect him. I promised it much-much before. This now included preserving his memory, even if it was a lie. But this lie protected me as a matriarch and the twins. He was respected as god, would they see the twins as demigods and want to protect them at all costs? I do not know…

~ How do you think the Scar Hound will feel about the twins? Asher is revered as a god, Thomas Barran Thomas Barran expects them to be. Do you think this is the fate of the twins? Will they be seen as children of a god? ~ I asked him.

I was silent for a few moments, then I spoke again.

~ I defied him from the very first moment, as I refused to be a slave. Ziare always was a slave, and so did I in our shattered mind, until Asher and Tu'teggacha freed me. I said I wouldn't be a slave-soldier, I volunteered to serve the Maw... he could never beat me, I always won and Ziare. ~ I said tiredly.

Meanwhile, we moved out, the droid carrying the floating bed. On the way, I tried to look around as best as possible, remember the place and also give MANIAC the opportunity to save the route and any other data it can. These can be used later. I glanced at Kallan after his words as we approached the turbolift. I didn't nod, only I saw him, no one else. I wanted it to stay that way and not let the Taskmaster find out that Kallan was still here.

~ It is enough to get to a place where there is a wireless network, MANIAC can already connect to it. And then we will also know where we are and can send the message. ~

Fortunately, I was able to tell MANIAC the message even now, who will be able to send it once we get to the right place. So I mentally instructed the AI that if it detects a wireless network, it should immediately connect to it, find out where we are, and send the following message to Thomas Barran:

Code:
Thomas, this is Mercy. Tu'teggacha captured me, the children were born, but he took them away.
He is currently holding us in this place, and the children are not with me:
[insert coordinates and location]
Please, help me! I am too weak and not in a condition to escape.
Mercy

And one more thing, I wanted MANIAC to try to find information on the network about where Tu'teggacha, or the Maw, is holding Manifold. I didn't know if he escaped last time, or if he was listening to Freedom and he was able to escape.

~ Kallan, I know from Asher's memories that there may have been Zachariel Steelblood Zachariel Steelblood who was roughly close to him. Not as close as me, but from the memories and feelings I got from him when our minds merged… I think he respected him, as he was once his slave soldier. Do you think he would help us? ~ I asked him hopefully.

It was hard to find alliances or friends in Asher's past, since almost everyone was dead, everyone around us died. And Asher only trusted me, I was the only one who really knew him, and he shared his secrets only with me. And I basically didn't trust anyone, I treated everyone as an enemy so that I could better protect him. How much easier my situation would have been if I had gathered real friends and alliances...

… and I'm not just focused on our, mostly on his survival.

As he retorted, Eina understood that he knew nothing of her people, neither the Valkyrja nor the Children of Ashla. If he had known them, he would never have said such a thing.

"If one doesn't want to fight, they don't have to. The Valkyrja… it's voluntary. We don't turn anyone into a Valkyrja against their will. And later, when someone doesn't want to fight anymore or gets tired of it, they can always do another job or choose to become one with the Force." she told him. "My people have free will and we respect the free will and choice of others. This is why I'm not force you to anything."

They still disagreed. Was it always meant to be? With the emergence of the martyrs, Eina already guessed why the Avatars wanted Mongrel's soul, why they singled him out with their attention. But even they were not infallible. Of course, she knew that she wasn't infallible either and that she used to make mistakes. However, she was not mistaken when she took the soul of Asher Kala'myr under her protection after his death.

"What happened to Mongrel is what happens when one finds a purpose for existence. The Maw began to change him, when they refused to let him die. When he was saved again and again, but he was ready for the non-existent paradise. The girl only gave him back his zest for life, began to heal him, took care of him where everyone else only used him as a tool. She gave him a purpose and a choice. All that the Maw had taken from him by not letting him die." she told him.

After they passed through the portal, Eina just nodded at the man's words.

"I don't like fighting the living. Healing is my job in this dimension. It's enough that I also have to be a warlord in the Netherworld." she explained.

However, it was not possible to continue because the man attacked again. Eina defended herself, constantly. She tried to position herself so that she was between him and the rift, because she definitely wanted to show him the Martyrs. And that required keeping him away from the rift and from Zach going back to the ship.

During the fight, the screams could first be heard as they approached. They were simple, normal screams, yet they had the effect of being unearthly. There was also confusion in the Force, and eventually the martyrs also appeared among the trees. Each undead was an abomination, several remnants of souls, mutilated souls kneaded into one person, screaming in eternal pain, in madness. They suffered.

"Look at them, this is what the Dark Three do to those you send to them, and this is what they do to those who believe in them. Is this a paradise? Would this be the Galaxy-to-come?" she asked him. "No, this is hell, and eternal suffering."

Tovald gave a silent order to his army to subdue any Stormtroopers in the vicinity as they will impede the mission and kill them. The stolen property should be in alphabetical order. He would look through the boxes one by one first and then sort by A and T next. He’s been aware that prisons kept everything in offices like these.

So far all the clothing and possessions did not fit the description. Tovald gave Anashja Tal a brief side-eye. She did indeed see a spider wrapping a trooper in a silk package. He will explain everything later, and tell them how he came to control an army of Spiders, but now is not the time or place to do so.

Each box was stacked, plus there was no sign of the Beskar'gam yet but he kept looking. The Stormtroopers managed to get their hands on Ubese armour and a jar of red hair and scalp, it looked fresh. A rare colour for his people, but it does happen at least once every 7 generations.

Tovald made a noise of revulsion, these people are disgusting, and he shoved the box away in disgust and fought nausea at the fact they did this. There are more boxes to be looked at and now, there was a look of hesitation and praying there would be no more unwelcomed surprises.

This box was heavy and it sounded like metal, this could be it and he opened the lid and there it was the armour handprint facing upwards. Well, that was a chore, they need better inventory than this mess. Of course, they had 870+ years to stagnate.

<"Found it."> Tovald exclaimed, shoving the box towards Anashja Tal with his foot. Keeping telepathic links to every spider on the level to spot anyone coming their way.

The Battalion

Another Brick in Syd's Wall
Fourteen Minutes Prior to Zachariel Steelblood Zachariel Steelblood decided to Nuke The Site From Orbit, It's The Only Way To Be Sure...

The Battalion, badly weakened and degraded, and a badly damaged Max, fought against a relentless onslaught of Mawites.

The Battalion had seized her pilfered Lightsaber and was ruthlessly cutting the Mawites down while Max was shooting them, but they just kept coming. The emaciated Witch, furious at being humiliated by this scum, viciously, violently cut them down more cruelly than usual, slaking her hatred and bloodthirst. Determined to mend her wounded ego at the hands of these...these...

ruffians...

(Cutaway of The Battalion sitting in an elegant chair by the fireplace.)

(The Battalion: Really? You couldn't think of something more demeaning?)

(Narrator: Lowers countdown time until Zachariel's orbital strike to 7 minutes for this post)

(The Battalion (Facepalming at own stupidity): Shutting up now)

The Battalion thrashed these ruffians and the Dark Side began to hiss danger and The Battalion wondered what it could be that was driving her wild with sudden fear, like a burning coal in the pit of her half decayed body's stomach, slowly getting stronger.

Why were so many Maw focusing their attacks. This is more than they would need to destroy a Generator.

In a flash she understood. The Heathen Priests--they were sending orders to the Mawites through the Dark Side. The goal was to delay them!

"Citizen!" The emaciated Witch called out in a haggard, half rotted breath as she brutally beheaded another Mawite, grabbing another and ripping away her life Force. But she was still so hungry!

"Little busy!" Max called back, dropping another four one handed.

"Something is coming! Something bad. They want to keep us here!"

"Purpose!"

The Battalion scrambled to think why they would scramble all these people to just pin them down over a nothing Generator they'd eventually punch through anyway...

"BOMBARDMENT!" she yelled. "They're going to hit US! And they don't care how many they sacrifice!"

In that moment, The Battalion started to develop the same level of hatred towards The Maw that Xiphos had.

"We have to fight through these lines!" Max said.

"No we don't!" The Battalion sneered, though it would cost her.

After there were forced through another minute of fighting screaming hoardes coming in from everywhere, a damaged Battalion. missing an arm grabbed Max with her remaining good one and flew out of the hole at high speed, still being fired at from the air by hundreds of Mawites.

She felt herself rapidly weakening, the body withering in the air and slowing down, descending as fast as she dared. By the time she landed, she was barely keeping the body active with the Dark Side Energy being drawn from the charged atmosphere.

But she had landed where her old body had been destroyed, and had retrieved her armor, her weapons, and her wedding ring.

"Seriously?" Max exclaimed.

"Look, the wedding ring alone would have made me go back..." The Battalion hissed, body weakening. "But gear like that is very hard to replace."

"Fethin' figures!" Max snapped in annoyance.

But his problems just got worse, for the Battalion's body disintegrated completely, and the Battalion's multi-spirit coalesced into a hissing ball of purple energy that went into the Lightsaber blade she had just stolen.

Max gave a digital sigh.

"And now I just became the most important Droid in House Io..." Max grumbled, scooping the weapons, armor, and wedding ring up and desperately scrambling for a new blaster when his circuits went cold at the sounds of dozens and dozens of mawites approaching, howling for his parts.

"Feth that..." Max said and ran, or hobbled, as best as his damaged Droid body could allow, which wasn't much.

He started running as he heard the warbands close, ducking into a bloody alley. He knew it would only buy him so much time. The hoardes were gaining fast. He had maybe thirty seconds. Max had no ammo left. All his onboard weapons were damaged. They caught him with this blade...

They would have a massive bargaining chip over House Io. They might even destroy her out of spite. Or they could try and enslave her...The Mawites possessed terrible methods of torture. Were they as depraved and ghastly as what he had seen the Cultists do to victims in the snowy forests of Khemost? He didn't know, but he was certain The Battalion didn't want to find out.

In desperation he used a comlink on House frequencies as he turned into another street, dodging blaster fire.

"This is Max! I'm on the verge of being overwhelmed! I need backup immediately!" he called out as he ran.

Max came to a stop as he was cut off by a Mawite in the distance, armed with a Z-6 rotary cannon. That was it Nowhere to go. He was done. Captured.

As the Mawites chasing him cut off his escape, Max looked around them, some already preparing restraining bolts.

The Mawite that held the Cannon smiled.

"Duck." he said.

Max hit the ground as the "Mawite" opened fire.

The bolts tore into the surprised hoard, putting them down as bolt after bolt ripped apart their bodies. He swept the firing arc across the whole of the streetbutchering Mawites until they were forced into a retreat momentarily from the surprise attack.

Max looked up as the Mawite morphed back into Lyssa Io.

"Brother!" she called out happily. "What are we doing here?"

"Never mind that!" Max snapped. "We need a vehicle! They're gonna bombard the surface!"

Lyssa's serene expression became one of mild alarm.

"We musn't waste time then." Lyssa replied, gesturing for him to follow her to an old weapons depo that looked completely destroyed, with Maw corpses everywhere

"All House Io Personnel, this is Max!" Max snapped on his comlink. "Take off now! The surface is about to be bombarded! We may have only minutes left!"

Max then hopped on the Speederbike with Lyssa, who followed his direction to the evac site House Io had set up for its own evac efforts.

"You think they'll wait for us?" Lyssa asked.

"I wouldn't." Max replied as she gunned the bike in the direction he pointed.

Approximately one minute later, the blast struck the shield generator directly, and the explosion caused a massive Chain Reaction.

The single minute and thirty seconds the House Io ships at the spaceport had gotten would save two of the four vessels that had been sent to provide relief to the Pananthans. They waited as long as they could. They even let Mandalorians aboard, and broadcast the warning they had received to the forces of Adenn Kyramud Adenn Kyramud in an attempt to try and save some of them also.

If they had all taken off just fifteen seconds earlier...

Alas, two House Io Corvettes would be destroyed, but the minute and a half warning had allowed a very few number of ships to also escape...

The Refugee ships in space were extremely vulnerable. The House Io TIE's swarmed, tried to provide basic defense, but there were a lot of Mawite ships firing.

Something came out of Hyperspace. Big. Nearly the size of a Battle Cruiser.

It was painted in Black, with the triple arrow symbol of the Eternal Empire to disguise its affiliation It was father away than other ships, but not where its weapons were concerned.

Electrical Turbolasers lanced white bolts of burning fury from Scion Shipyards newest Star Destroyer. They provided covering fire for fleeing refugee vessels, blasting at anything smaller that looked like it was thinking of targeting the ships. It let loose a devastating salvo of its entire torpedo compliment at the Devourer in retaliation for the surface strike, as the the remaining Nuetralizer TIE Bombers rushed in on its Orbital Cannon...

Meanwhile...

Lyssa raced on the speederbike, desperately trying to outrun the encroaching explosion spreading outward, engulfing whole buildings. Fanatical Mawites, still being directed by the Heathen Priests to try and stop them any way they could, including throwing themselves in front of the path of the bike. Max spotted a light repeating blaster clutched in the hands of some dead Mawite and scooped it up as they passed by it.

Max then noticed the Mawites were so effin' crazy they were chasing behind them on speeder bikes while both of them were trying to outrun the explosion

Max fired behind him, but they weaved around the bolts effortlessly, like they did with the debris, firing Disruptor pistols at the both of them.

Lyssa was not the Advanced Prototype for nothing however, and effortlessly weaved through the bolts herself, while Max fired at them trying to throw off their aiming attempts.

The Mawites started firing the cannons on their own bikes, trying to hit them. These were much harder to dodge.

Lyssa slowed a bit, allowing the Maw to overshoot her position, but now the fast approaching explosion was much closer, and the ground shook terribly as the shockwave chased them with seemingly a mind of its own.

Max adjusted his targeting protocols as he aimed at the lead Mawite's bike, only he missed as Lyssa was forced to violently swerve out of the way from a Disruptor bolt he fired. Even Lyssa couldn't survive a shot from one of those.

"Feth this!" Max shouted at Lyssa, "Get me close to him!"

"Are you NUTS?!" Lyssa shouted.

"I'm not just nuts, I'm bolts!" Max declared.

Lyssa raised both eyebrows in seeming awe at the boast but complied, gunning the engines at Max as buildings were shredded behind them both.

Lyssa's bike was right next to the Mawite's that had been shooting at them. He shot at them again, and Lyssa side-rammed his bike. He side rammed her back, and they both had to pull away to avoid the overturned vehicle they had approached with their crazy speeds (For only the craziest speeds could outrun what chased them and then only just barely)

The next time their bikes got close, Max leapt to the enemy's bike, tossed him face first into a building which was quickly annihilated by the shockwave behind them, getting ever closer. (ROTJ REFERENCE# 978463673820!: 21000 XP!)

The Remaining Mawite aggressively pursued until Max managed to finally shoot ahead of his travel path and winged his bike, sending him spinning into a wall and turning into Ludicrous Gibs seconds later, and their situation got worse when Lyssa spotted a tank ahead, firing at them, piloted by Maw determined to prevent The Battalion's escape at all costs.

"We have a PROBLEM!" Lyssa shouted, but it was impossible to hear her now over the roar of the encroaching shockwave and the destruction of the buildings.

Max gunned it as the tank fired it heavy blaster cannon at them. He activated the Lightsaber the Battalion's spirit was trapped in, the Red Blade sizziling with Dark Power as he jumped the bike over an obstacle, spinning it with the lightsaber in mid air over the tank barrel, cutting it off, Lyssa flipped the pilots off as they caught fire from a malfunction in the tank due to the damage he had inflicted. The shockwave annihilated the tank and them a few seconds later.

But they were fast closing now on a dead in in the street, and there were no obstacles to jump.

That was when Lyssa saw it.

A House Io A-Wing, fast approaching from above at max speeed, it flew real low, as low as it dared, matching their speed.

"Hi Boss!" the Autopilot controlling the fighter announced over comms to Lyssa.

"Boss?" Lyssa said in curiousity. But not wanting to look a gift horse in the mouth she signalled to Max and they both jumped off their bikes and onto its hull, when it veered up in a shallow pattern, increasing its speed as much as it dared so its passengers wouldn't fly off.

They spotted one remaining House Io Corvette just barely taking off at high speed when it sent a transmission to open its spare hangar and fly low to the street.

"Are you OUT OF YOUR MIND?!" the captain of the other ship yelled.

"We have the Matriarch's Daughter!"

"Chit!" the other pilot swore, flying low. Only their superhuman strength allowed them to cling to the hull at such speeds as the A-Wing gunned the engines slightly more, keeping the craft level as the shockwave crept closer.

The Autopilot veered the craft violently into the hangar, barely missing a building scraping by underneath both craft as it skittered violently on the landing area where a shuttle normally waited,

Lyssa and Max were flung off the vehicle violently into the Bay, Max smashed into a wall and deactivated as his powersource was too damaged, the possessed Lightsaber The Battalion's spirit was in skittering away, no one knowing the significance of it as House Citizens rushed in, putting out minor fires as Lyssa rose up first, rattled by whatever was going on, her minor memory wipe of the past two weeks making her current situation almost a total mystery to her.

Lyssa, however, did not miss the significance of the items that had been in Max's death grip.

The damaged, but curiously self repairing suit, the wedding ring, the Lightsaber.

The Battalion had fallen in battle...

The very thought sent chills down Lyssa's entire nanite cluster at how her Mother would react...

The Corvette barely escaped the terrible shockwave, rocketing into the atmospher under escort of the House Io starfighters and Sarka Class Frigates, now all heavily damaged as they fended off attack after attack from Maw fighters and other ships, the covering fire from the friendly star destroyer as they egressed with the refugee ships the only real relief they had beyond their own allied fighters.

They lost another two Corvettes full of Refugees, but the rest had made it, non allied vessels jumped to their own destinations, while the ones under control of the House, would slowly egress, the Scion Destroyer taking a massive beating so the Refugeee ships didn't have too as they left under severe fire, but every escaped vessel was another middle finger to the Brotherhood, and House Citizens loved to thwart the Maw when possible, as violently as possible. Tython had proved this.

The refugee convoy at last jumped to hyperspace...

"Thank you, again" she said wearily to her masked rescuer, walking over to the ubese and looking into the crate of metal armour. That was it, she picked it out and looked at the components, they were damages and many of the systems would need fixing. She began clipping some of the phrik plates on to the outside of her body glove. "Don't suppose you have a plasma torch tucked away in there?" she joked as she looked at the damaged breastplate.

The ground rumbled as she finished armouring up, the whole ship seemed to be coming apart. Her own investigation had turned up the information she needed, the remaining prisoners had all either been killed in the collapse or had escaped with various rescue parties or by themselves. "So many dead" she said with sadness, touching the names on the screen of people she knew from her own clan that had not survived their incarceration. Anashja's body shivered as she thought about her children again, the shock of tasting freedom had broken through the resolve she had encased herself with when she knew her death was inevitable. She started to sob and she leaned in to the Ubese, not knowing or even caring what he thought of her.

"I need to see my children, please" The togruta spoke through her tears. "Have you got a ship?". Anashja concentrated on the force and she breathed deeply and releasing Tovald after only a few moments, blushing under her helmet. "I'm sorry, its been a lot."

She looked down the darkened corridor where she had seen the stormtrooper being wrapped up, worrying only slightly about what they might find, lurking in the shadows.

"I am merely an expendable tool in the Imperial war machine." she told him. "If you kill me, there will be others who will continue what the former Emperor started and do what is necessary."

Her voice was still emotionless, but it was shaking a little with pain. Fortunately, she was able to ignore the hunger caused by the weapon's proximity, especially after how much energy she was absorbing now. That was more than enough willpower for her to hold on and suppress it. The Empress' hunger level was currently no greater than it had been before. And despite her injury and pain, she had the opportunity to attack back against the man.

Due to better concentration and positioning, she had to stand up while pressing Kyrel against the wall, squeezing him. She also heard bones breaking. If necessary, she was ready to use the last of her strength to kill him. However, maybe at the last minute, Kyrel came up with something that did not favour the woman. If this had been the endgame, she would have easily let the lightsaber hit her. The lightsaber caused the same damage for the woman as to anyone else, it didn't matter here that the red haired woman was a semi-Force Entity, the lightsaber killed her just like killed anyone else.

Precisely because of this, because she didn't have a chance to kill the man quickly, that is, the lightsaber would hit her first. She might be able to stop it, but then she would have to lower the barrier around the ship. The Empress could still pay attention and concentrate on two places, even if not at full strength, but dividing her strength between three would have been too much. That would certainly have resulted in Kyrel breaking free and the shield collapsing. And under no circumstances could she allow the shield to collapse.

So there was only one thing she could do, the red haired woman let Kyrel go and jumped out of the way of the lightsaber. However, due to the pain, but mainly due to the extent of the injury and concentration, she dropped to one knee after dodging. The pain didn't bother her, the injury itself did, which was serious. It would have been better if she hadn't still focused on maintaining the barrier, but that's what Ingrid did. She concentrated, probably still giving up her own defences.

However, the barrier still stood...

Mairéad reached the front line where her Vod were fighting. "What are we looking at?" The woman asked.

"A small squad of Imperials on the other side of the reactor shaft, got us pinned down with a couple of heavy caliber AP repeaters, an ideas?" came the reply from a supercommando sergeant.

"Right, we cross that we are home free to the hangar on the opposite side of the ship we entered? How far does the shaft go?"

"a couple of hundred metres up, about twice that downward."

"Damn, too much to go above or under. Pressurised?"

"sure, there's an atmosphere in here?"

"OK, here's what we do, I'm going to lead, it's going to get really really cold in there, so keep moving, if I go down, stick a whip cord around me and drag me out, if I'm frozen I might still be alive."

She walked to the doorway and held back, looking at the extend of the holes in the deck and began to channel, the air temperature plummeted and frost formed across her armour and up the walls. An icy sheen began to thicken on her skin that would form and extra level of defence should her armour fail. But the real power was the wind that whipped up from below as hot air at the reactor rose up forming powerful convection currents against the icy cloud that was forming. Mairéad smiled as she began to spin the ice in the air until the cyclone became a self sustaining twister of wind and shards of ice. She activated her mag boots ans stepped out into the storm.she had created that now tore up and down the whole reactor tube. A lump of ice smashed against her armour but it was nothing compared to the weaponry that might be used against her if she didnt do this.

"Run!" The witch shouted through her comm and the mandalorians with her charged across, fighting the winds and the icy metal bridge. At least one storm troopers was caught in the power and she smirked as she saw him and his large repeater clattering against support bars like a ragdoll.

In no time at, Mairéad's forces had crossed the void and quickly into the next sections. There would be more stormtroopers to face but most had crossed to the flank attacked by the Crimson Empress, so the going ahead was much more in their favour and before long their lines had reached to opposite hangar that they could use to escape.

Kyrel was a shambling mess. His muscles were torn pieces of black flesh. One could hear the cracking of bones as he tried to move his way towards the red woman. His attempted saber throw towards her instead of her taking the hit she dodged it. He felt the invisible grip that had tried to entrap him all but disappear. The walking corpse limped his way towards her slowly. As the dark energy continued to manifest itself around him. His Hunger would repeatedly bash against her shield in waves of darkness while Kyrel stared down the red woman with malicious intent.

“You are getting tired red woman… How do you hope to stop me while I remain?” He asked with a mocking laugh. The sharp jump of his saber moved past her and back into the Ren’s grip. With his every step he could feel sudden bursts of pain in his limbs, in his torn flesh, and the pain of the bled Kyber that made up his bones. The saber still activated was lowered downwards while Kyrel inches closer to her. The pain was used to further drive the depths of his dark hunger. The darkness kept bashing against her shield faster, and faster, so fast one could dance to the beat of the shield being struck repeatedly over and over.

While she knelt to one knee when she looked up she would see the Wrath. The Wrath was a horrifying sight to behold, with his bones showing, his torn black flash and the ugly face of a walking corpse all bathed in the crimson glow of his saber. He stared her down with a scowl that resembled rage, and a mix of cruel pleasure in knowing that he could win. “Do you have anything to say, or should I just kill you now?” He asked her if she had a choice raising his saber with a sharp hum as if he was about to strike.

He was prepared to end her. If her death would bring down the shield so be it, but she couldn’t hope to hold the shield even against a saber blow. The Master of Ren stared her down, as the hulking giant seemed to have had the upper hand against her. The tense silence drowned out by the intense beating of her shield against his ravenous hunger.

Torrun could feel, both in the force as well as the vibrations from the ground, of the impeding force that was soon to converge upon them. It was nauseating, the feeling of so many twisted souls at once, the mockery of flesh that the maw have crafted. It was unnatural. Torrun was not an overly religious or even moral person, but even she felt disgusted or perhaps rage at the sight of such abominations, and the need to cleanse them by chopping of their heads and burning the bodies after.

But such a thing would prove difficult to do, what with the horde easily outnumbering what's left of their meager forces. It did not take a strategic genius to see that they have lost, and the best course of action was scorched earth. Something they honestly should have done long ago. So many lives and recources to attempt to save this accursed rock and its ungrateful people. It was a waste in so many ways, really.

Quickly, Torrun activated her comms once again. "Come in to whoever is listening. The outpost is lost. A horde of dead and who knows what else is soon to overtake us. Advising to activate the weapon before it is too late." Torruns tone was cold, annoyed, like one discussing getting a cavity ripped out of their mouth.

The Knight Warden then let loose a breath, emptying her thoughts, to blend in with the shadows, to hide her force signature. Time needed to be bought. And what better way to do so than cut the head off of the beast that is now attacking them? Torrun could easily differentiate the dark presence from the rest, this one larger, darker, and full of malice. Then, she felt another presence, this one full of light and righteousness, so much it almost made Torrun spit on the ground in contempt. But the newer presence attacked, making Torrun sigh. At the very least this would buy the changeling and the outpost more time, as well as offer a distraction.

And so with that, Torrun hurried to the battlefield, eyes sharp for any chance to take the life of the leader of the horde.

'Huh?!?! Manners?! What is this, afternoon tea with the Imperials?',

"There is nothing wrong with my manners! And I'm not his girlfriend! I am not even his friend either!"

”Holy kriff, I’m not getting paid enough for this…” The Pureblood grunted to himself as he hacked and slashed at the hordes of Undead, trying his hardest to give them a chance to take down their nemesis for the day. If they weren’t in the middle of a fight for survival, he would have loved to just cleave them both in half.

He really wished that the Undead would run out soon enough…

Unfortunately there was no shortage of Undead to reanimate and send into the meat grinder. Eventually they would tire out, then all hope was lost. Either they did something to halt it, or they stopped and fought their way out. Sadly there was only one realistic option and Thomas was quick to call it out.

'Flak-Jacket, chit! Alright, lets adjust this triangle clockwise a bit.... Jas, if you think you can take 'im - I think I have a plan-'

'If we fight our way southwards through the mob, there's a good chance we can gain enough ground to facilitate your attempt to kill their puppeteer.... Close the distance, then boom! Blitz for the decider!',

While Jas did as he was told, the Pureblood’s temper was boiling to a head all over again. The thoughts of how incompetent his warlord was, stood out to him the most. How such a pathetic creature could manage to cling this hard to his unlife was beyond the mercenary’s capability to understand.

With a slight lull in the fighting, Jas grabbed hold of the man’s collar and yanked him closer. ”Are you a follower of the Force or not?! Huh?! Karkin’ act like it!” He bellowed as he let go and channelled his anger and frustration into an immense shockwave through the Force.

The closest Undead were obliterated, reduced to ash and dust in the blink of an eye while the rest were either shattered or simply tossed back. A path opened up in front of them, all the way to the Necromancer standing atop his pedestal. Going further, Jas grabbed hold of both the Twi’lek and the Bloodhound before he hurled them through the air with the aid of the Force in a carefully controlled throw. He made sure they landed not only on their feet, but only a few steps away from the Necromancer.

Jas didn’t have time to check on the result of his mighty throw as the Undead closed in again. Flames, blasts, strikes of his crimson blade, the Pureblood’s fury carved any and all down in front of him, no matter what happened. If he was going to die, he was going to make sure that even the Nether would know of the Pureblood who sent back its minions in droves.

If the Force wanted to claim his life, he was going to make it work for it.

"You're not in any better condition either, it's more than enough for me if you fall to pieces and can't finish the ritual." she told him. "Don't worry, I can handle a lot more than that."

Her voice was still firm, defiant, and ice cold. She had faced countless people and opponents before, and she had always been like this. Tavlar, or Rurik Fel, said something similar to the woman, about her defiance. Although she had only met Tavlar at the negotiating table; Rurik was the one she met at the diplomatic table, and they also fought with each other during the Civil War...

The red haired woman continued to focus and concentrate, still doing what was her duty, what she had to do. She had felt Eina and Zachariel disappear from the ship earlier, but she could still feel them, they were on the planet. Now she had to protect her daughter and her own lover and friend. If the ritual was successful, it didn't matter that Zachariel was a Gen'Dai, Kyrel would have absorbed his life force as well. Eina's case was the same…

When the man arrived and spoke to her, she looked up. There was not the slightest sign of fear on her face or in her eyes. If Kyrel kills her now, then she has accepted her fate. Perhaps many people found all this surprising, but the woman really did not care if she lived or died. She knew the Netherworld better than the world of the living, she knew what would await her, how she would come back - if she wants -, and the list goes on. The only thing she might have been afraid of was that others of her loved ones might have their souls broken in the same way that Adrian had. It didn't bother her if it was her own…

"Yes, I have something to say. You talk too much, Wrath!" even now she had the strength to taunt.

If the man is only attacking the shield for the time being, then the woman still persevered and was able to concentrate. And Ingrid didn't care about the proximity of the lightsaber. So it was still a dance and battle of mind and will. And the red-haired woman did what she had to do...

… the shield is still held…

Kyrel was starting to quickly tire of the game the red woman was playing. Did she not know that with each passing moment his Hunger would break through her shield, and move to consume everything on the planet? She must have been a fool if even an old woman could stop the Wrath of the Maw. She could have been centuries old and still she would suffer all of Kyrel’s rage. When he approached her she seemed worse than he had looked, or could have that been the other way around? It was hard to tell.

“When do you ever learn? Perhaps death is far too swift for you might come crawling back…” He said pretending to raise his saber. He seemed ready to strike her down, yet he had an inkling that is what she hoped for him to do. Instead she would be surprised by the hiss of his saber turning off. His black, dead eyes stared into her own with something far worse in mind.

He would lean in close to her, his large hands moved to grab her face. Pulling her close to him where she could smell the stench of decay he said. “I think I have something better in mind. You showed how brave you are, yet beings like me only happen so often in a millennia… Let’s see if you can take all of me.” He spoke with such sinister intent. His black eyes would soon glow blazing red staring deep into her very soul. His fingers tightened their grip around her face. Soon she could feel dark energy hit straight into her mind.

“Don’t worry I might grow on you.” He said with a sadistic laugh. All the while he was flooding her mind with two lifetimes full of pain, for Kyrel suffered most than any in the galaxy. He was sending a feedback loop of darkness into the depths of her mind and soul. In a way he was slowly starting to infect her with a piece of him. To ruin her from the inside in hopes of bringing her shield crashing down.
