His fighter was moving. Speeding up to take the fight to the pirates, Kunn was in his element, the Sullustan grinned as he looked around. Right, a flight of pirates down, and where next? Deeper into the city. Gotcha. Kunn nodded at the words that came across his display. “Got them, Roller, hang tight.”

Nuru was doing her thing with the Harlequin, which allowed Kunn to do what he did best, chase down things and blow them up. He rolled his fighter as the next wave of pirates were coming at him and his team, a blast splashing his shields and another going between the wings on his port side.

“Gon’ be like dat, eh?” Canadian gangster? Sure, that was his accent now. He hated T-Wings, was what it came down to. Wing tips started spitting red fire and the pilot grinned. “Gon’ smoke you.” Maybe not Canadian.

"You did?" Avalore blinked and looked around as though Vassara just told her she had a tail, "I do?"

Surprised, the Healer looked up with a wane, bright smile, "Really? Wow..." No one had ever told her she had a powerful Force presence before. These were the sorts of things Avalore wasn't capable of sensing or, as the case may be, feeling. She really hadn't a clue, honestly. It was as if she had a tail and never knew.

Suddenly she had a greater appreciation for [member="Meeristali Peradun"] and that nefarious butt-tie of his.

Wait till she told Gabe.

Smile widening, Avalore stepped up fully to the stand and took the proffered hand for a firm but gentle shake. All these spacers seemed to have one thing in common: rough, calloused hands. She couldn't tell the difference as covered in Darkside corruption scars as her own hands were.

"Jedi Master Healer Avalore Eden," she introduced herself, brown eyes eventually leaving the fire-lit gaze of the woman to check out her wares, "I heard you could find just about anything at the bazaar, well I guess they weren't kidding. Are you...is this-" she pointed to the woman's stock, "a normal thing for you? I'm looking for local resources where I can restock on my supplies on a regular basis."

Crimson nails dug into his forearm. The faint pain drew him from his momentary reverie and he turned his gaze down to Mediha. His lips parted in a second's confusion, though it was lost as he followed her eyes. The small horde of rotting corpses was drawing up from their flank, and could quickly overwhelm the fighting men if they got too close.

Well then.

"Remember the length of your blade. It's weightless; easy to forget," he chided quietly as the ghouls approached. Mumbling a curse under his breath, Darius pressed forward, fully expecting Mediha to cover his flank. The blue blade hissed as it carved morbid arcs through the shambling monsters.Decaying fingers stretched out to drag across his throat, yellow teeth gnashed for skin, arms wailed, but the monsters' efforts were for naught. The lightsaber lopped their heads from their shoulders like paper.

"Oh, you absolutely are," Darius quipped between heavy breaths as Julius came up from behind them, "Terrible, really master. Our people are moving forward. Mister Xanatos has point - we'll follow his lead for now."

Blue eyes shifted to Rovasus. "Give him support Captain. We'll make sure nothing stalks up from the cavern walls behind us."

Vassara chuckled looking over her wares with a sweeping eye and taking another sip of stimcaf. The cup was warm in her hands and it reminded her of much simpler times. Before the One Sith, before the war, all of it.

"No this is not a normal thing for me. I'm actully here offloading supplies. Some of my contacts in the Underground mentioned there might be some work here, or at the very least a chance to aid the Alliance."

The street was getting busier now as throngs of folks pushed around the market, each buying their own wares. The collective voices of the crowd was loud. What exactly was she doing here? Intel gathering mostly, keeping a wary eye out. Vassara hated Sith hated Pirates. But she had mentioned she was looking for supplies. Pirates and Scum were the best place to accquire such items at a cheap price. Spacers had an in with those folks, understanding customs and secret codes among them helped the pprocess immensely.

"I can get you whatever you need. Most of this stuff I lifted from a warehouse. I might have ahhh persuaded a few unsavory types to give them to me for a cheap price. Everythings imported here, very few local resources. What are you looking for exactly? I'm sure we can go back and get more."

Grom grunted beside her, stiffling a terse laugh. While she was persuasive via the force and her intuition of the natural way of things Grom liked to take a more.... direct approach.

"We gonna squash some more scalpers?"

"Emmm maybe not buddy, trying to move away from the more violent side of things."

Like blasting people with shotguns and taking their stuff.

Nubica suited action to words. As her X-wings came alongside what had once been a warehouse of tremendous size, painted an eye-hurting cyan, but was now a hollowed, burned wreck of a building with scorch marks surrounding blast holes in the walls, she executed a smart port-ward turn down a street that ran at right angles to the one over which they'd been flying. She rotated ninety degrees leftward, so the street was to her left and one row of buildings was beneath her keel.

The sharpness of the angle was more than the X-wing's inertial compensator could bear; she felt weight again, settling into her seat, as the snubfighter turned through the tightest portion of her manoeuvre.

There was a sharp metal shriek as her keel scraped along one of the building facades; her X-wing lurched. The snubfighter's shields were no protection against such a graze.

She glanced at her diagnostics board, looking for the telltale red glows of system failures.

Behind her, the sky lit up. The sound and shock wave of an explosion rocked her X-wing. And the dot representing one of her pursuers disappeared from her sensor board.

The pilot simply didn't have the skill to manage a turn like that. She had known this, had counted on it, but no smile of satisfaction crossed her face.

He didn't even remember going to bed.

Amber eyes fluttered open. The youngling gave a muffled sigh as his body shifted within the confines of the shipboard cot. The bed was a thin mattress, supported by a rack that was built into the bulkhead of the chamber that was barely larger than the bed itself. But it wasn't a flimsiplast box. And it was the closest thing that the Pantoran had known which resembled anything like a home.

Raising his head from up off the pillow, the bed-headed youth gazed vacantly out the doorway into the central round at the heart of the small transport. He wasn't certain just how long he'd been out for, but he had real life-saving stuff that he ought to be doing...

...wait a minute. He was eleven. The galaxy had adults who could do the galaxy preserving, soul redemption, or princess saving. If any should be required.

His job? Well, he didn't have a job. See above regarding age. There were, after all, youngling labor laws. So what that meant was... he was going back to bed.

Turning on his side, the young Pantoran curled up against his pillow and quickly fell back into slumber...

"...weather for the Dinbar Region: Cloudy with a chance of undead..."

Munching on some dry phraig mixed with dehydrated breakfast fruit bits, the Pantoran sat on the floor in his underwear using his hand to shovel the autochef-supplied granola into his face. The amphistaff was stretched lazily across the boy's lap, occasionally hissing its disapproval of the fact that the boy had moved from a perfectly good, warm bed to the upper section of the ship, which housed the lounge, communications, and primary controls for the ship. The local HoloNet feed was displayed over the multi-purpose table which served as both a communications terminal and djarik board.

"...breaking news today, as authorities report an amphistaff attack occurred yesterday in the industrial sector. Our own Kel-Urk Gromar has the report, live from Dinbar University MedStar."

As though responding to the name, the Pantoran was vaguely aware of the amphistaff lifting her head up, as though to watch the hologram feed. Fingers scraping against the faux ceramic of the autochef serving ware, the boy pulled another handful of dry cereal into his palm and tossed it back into his mouth.

"...thanks, Jyan. I'm here at the Dinbar University MedStar, where doctors told authorities late last night that a woman was admitted into the emergency room suffering the effects of what may have been an amphistaff bite. This creature is not native to Elrood and, in fact, isn't found in nature at all. Though it may appear to be a normal snake, the venomous biot - as its known - is the product of Yuuzhan Vong genetic engineering, and extremely dangerous. If anyone should see, or suspect, the presence of such a creature, they should contact local authorities immediately. Animal and poison control experts are standing by and on high alert this morning..."

Wiping his palm off on his boxers, the Pantoran cupped his free hand around the amphistaff, just below where the head joined the serpentine body. Two fingers dug into the supple flesh, as he scratched the biot's chin. "Who's a deadly snake?" the boy asked, ignoring the remainder of the report as he turned his attention down to his pet.

The sound of a tail slapping against metal grating echoed faintly, as the amphistaff lifted up its head and closed it's eyes. "Huh? Who's a deadly snake?" the boy asked, discarding his cereal bowl and using both hands to pet the Yuuzhan Vong weapon. The snake-like animal suddenly convulsed, flipping it's body so that the belly was exposed, allowing the boy to massage it's sensitive underside. "Yes, you are. Yes, you are..."

He was never quite certain how to describe amphistaff pet ownership.

It had the head of a dragon, the body of a snake, the personality of a golden retriever, and was currently hiss-mewing while vibrating like a cat that was purring.

And this was the Yuuzhan Vong's deadly weapon.

And indeed, she made it to the speeder in just a few hundred metres. Now there was only very little left to before she would go and ruin the auction. She couldn't let the relic slip out of her hands, no matter what.

Even though she just realised she was not good with speeders, she did start the motor of the machine and started moving towards the building. She only hoped the relic hadn't been sold to anybody yet. Otherwise it would have been a nightmare to get it back.

Seriously, she wouldn't have just gone and stolen something a person had just bought for a huge amount of money.

"How do I get the relic out of there?" Lilin asked from the man.

Once again, he remained silent for a while before a voice came from the holocomm, "Well, it turns out it isn't sold yet, which is a good thing. It will be the last item in the list. So you should get there and grab the relic before the auction for that begins."

"Uh, and how do I do that exactly?"

She could hear the quiet laugh of the man. "That's your job to do, not mine."

Life was all about inconvenient truths. Such as, a boy aging from ten to twelve was subject to growth spurts.

Now, Boo certainly didn't feel like he was any taller. He still looked up to any alien over 1.5 meters height. But, be that as it may, there was no denying that the Primeval armor he'd worn at the invasion of Wayland didn't fit now as it had then. The body glove had obviously shrunk in storage. The cloak was definitely shorter than he remembered it. And he didn't know why some of the armor didn't fit. The duraplast had been cast based on a mold of his body, so it ought to have been precise.

Clearly this was a case of shoddy Primeval workmanship.

There was a musty smell to everything as well. Like the scent of mothballs that had permeated the fabric. The suit of light combat infantry armor had been in storage ever since the incident with [member="Coren Starchaser"] and the missing Niathal shuttle. It had been damaged by Force Lightning from a Sith Undead, the marks of which were still evident. He hadn't gotten it repaired after that. He'd put it away, and not put it on again until now.

The young Pantoran was crouched down atop the hospital roof, a series of thin cables connected to a HoloNet receiver at the base of a subspace antenna. The datapad in his hands was rotating through various Bleeding Sun slicing protocols, as he worked his way past the layers of cyber security insulating the patient records as he looked for information on K'ythri.

She would have checked in under an alias, but how many Kushiban could there be on Elrood? At this hospital, at this moment no less.

He was an assassin, not a detective, but it certainly seemed as the rabbit was leaving him a clear trail to follow.

Which begged the question of whether the sadistic rodent was so corrupt as to use the hospital as a trap.

She switched her lasers to single fire, fast cycle, which would allow her to fire an almost continuous stream of low-powered blasts, and brought up her targeting computer. Immediately the system's yellow brackets settled in a jittery fashion around one of the oncoming fighters and turned green, indicating a lock. The cockpit audio system howled in confirmation.

Reflexively, she fired. Her red laser streaked past the on-coming fighter, but she held the stick down and the system cycled, blast after blast emerging. She shook the yoke in her hand, spraying fire around as though using a nozzle to water a patch of grass, and saw one of the beams strike home, charring a hole in the starfighter's port wing.

It was so close - she tried to keep her spray of fire concentrated on it, and then there was a tremendous bang and her X-wing shook from bow to stern. The module holding the S-foil configuration switch popped out of its housing and dropped before her eyes, swaying there, held to the upper bank of controls by wires.

It went from zero to fire quickly within the blocks of the spaceport. Ariel bombings peppered the more heavily infested south quadrant of the new spaceport. Clean-up crews in the 'green' safety sector Firemane had blown through were moving through with flame throwers. Some were sanitizing the area ( take no chances with zombie blood) while others were lighting half-dead zombies up like yule logs.

Quickly a fence was being erected the city blocks that encompassed the spaceport. Construction crews were cautiously fencing in the area moving towards the south quadrant, infected zombies no longer their main concern but a wayward bomb instead. Firemane was accurate but one never knew when an itchy trigger finger was going to hit.

Commander Rae Wyrick was only marginally pleased. Elpsis had lost a hand, although it seemed she was going to be relatively fine. It was a little early to tell if the woman was going to be infected but there was no sign of fever yet. No major changes...well, minus the hand. Wyrick would pay her a visit later, first the troops had to be rounded up and briefed. Fresh security forces -- on a much smaller scale -- would be coming in to keep an eye on the entire facility during construction.

And so the zombie hordes were vanquished in a blazing inferno conjured up by a powerful firebombing. Aerial bombing laid the undead to waste, albeit at the cost of not insignificant property damage. Soon the clean-up began, such as it were. Piles of zombie corpses were set alight with flamethrowers in order to eliminate the risk of them ever rising again, no matter what twisted magicks had granted them unlife. Firemane walkers scoured the area, their heavy footsteps resounding across the streets as they went on patrol to flush out the last pockets of resistance.

At this stage, the most vital task would probably consist of stopping the flames from spreading or a wayward bomb going off. Labour droids worked alongside Salacia workers to set up the fences, along with defensive installations. The latter would be fairly basic at this stage, but suffice when it came to keeping out stray zombies or looters.

Meanwhile, Elpsis had been successfully evacuated away from the battlefield and was tightly secured medical bay on a Firemane ship. To be precise, she was being held in containment within a special capsule. It was too early to tell whether the redhead was infected. There had been no symptoms so far, but they were already taking a risk by taking her with them in the first place. She was doing well enough for now, but better safe than sorry, hence decontamination procedure. And so she slept, strongly sedated and pumped with bacta to help with the healing. Fortunately she would not to have wait long to get a new hand, assuming she did not suddenly wake up as an undead monster and try to eat someone, since Firemane had become quite proficient at creating replacements since Kerrigan kept losing limbs! None of the doctors responsible for treating her was looking forward to calling [member="Coryth Elaris"] or Lady Kerrigan...

The large, glass skyscraper was serving as their base, center of the 'green' safety zone. Firemane forces had filtered back to the area after the rigorous bombing sustained on the south quadrant. Commander Wyrick saw no real loss of property damage in bombing the buildings. If Salacia had a problem she would send them straight up the command chain. Certain things had to be done when securing areas. A few buildings just happened to get in the way while doing so.

If she squinted, Commander Wyrick could already see construction zones picking up rubble and dead infected bits in the area they just blasted out. Either way, it seemed there was no harm no foul. Transport vessels were starting to drift down and land at the expansive landing area. Firemane would be getting on board while a fresh security team would step out to keep out looters in the coming weeks.

Wyrick had her own assignment to do. She had to contact [member="Siobhan Kerrigan"] about Elpsis. Rae couldn't control what the woman did, Elpsis had known the dangers first hand. Rumors had it throughout Firemane that the two were hot and heavy lovers, so feelings may get in the way of a logical conversation.

Propping up the mobile communication center, she waited to be waved through all the proper Firemane channels to the head. Or...maybe she would just talk to a personal assistant. One could never tell with Lady Kerrigan.

Light years away from Elrood, on the other side of the Galaxy as a matter of fact, Siobhan was, ironically, in a hospital bed as well. It went without saying the bed was more comfortable than the one Elpsis - or any other wounded grunt, for that matter - would be lying in. After all, rank had its privileges. Located on the highest level of the 'port, it gave her a magnificient view of the blue orb that was Tygara.

The Countess was still recovering from her brutal duel with Shadow. The Sith Lord had been slain - or his physical body had been destroyed and his spirit had been forced to vacate it - but it had come at a cost to her. Among other things, her leg had been crushed, but then it had been crap anyway by then.

She had recovered to the point that she was able to do handle some paperwork, but she was still on sick leave. Thus when Commader Wyrick made the call, Siobhan was flipping through a magazine about orchids. Already feeling a bit tired, she yawned slightly when her comm beeped. Her hand moved with very slowly as she reached for it.

"Yes?" she spoke tiredly.

"Very sorry to disturb you, my Lady, but it's a Commander Wyrick for you," the slightly nervous voice of an assistant by the name of Hestia responded to her. "I was going to tell her to wait...but she says it's very urgent. Should I tell her it's a bad time?" The was a former slave who'd been rescued from Zygerria and as such was still a bit timid.

Siobhan knitted her brow together as she thought, trying to place the name, before she recalled the Denon operation. "No, no, that's quite alright. She wouldn't call unless it's important," Siobhan brushed the woman's doubts aside. Denon. A stab of concern pierced her heart when she remembered Elpsis was there. "Patch her through," she said firmly. And so, after presumably having waited a bit, the Commander would get a direct line with her boss. "Commander, this is Siobhan Kerrigan. You needed to speak to me?"

Commander Wyrick shifted uncomfortably as she waited. A few soldiers stopped by for advice or a word as they boarded their transports back for Silver Sanctum space. Most of the waiting was just interrupted by aides or assistants stringing her call along. Was Rae about to face the leadership behind Firemane? Wyrick had only seen her during training sessions when first joining the company but hadn't seen the woman since. It made sense, a CEO doesn't go around shaking the hands of workers in the most far flung locations.

Finally, Lady Kerrigan herself appeared. It seemed the woman was...in a hospital? No rest for the top brass? To say Lady Kerrigan looked spectacular as she did on the training grounds would be a lie. Clearly whatever event the woman had been in had taken a toll.

"Lady Kerrigan you look...." A long pause as Commander Wyrick struggled for a decent word."....well. I apologize for the call."

"As you may know, we've cleared the Salacia location on Dinbar,Elrood. Miss Elpsis Kallikora joined us in the battled against a hoarde of infected. While clearing a sector Miss Kallikora got bitten. Quick thinking by others saved her life. Needless to say, Miss Kallikora does not have a hand anymore. She had been evacuated to a top flight medical facility. I plan to see her personally once she is stable."

Siobhan did indeed look like she'd been through the ringer. Bacta patches had been applied, fresh, vicious scars were etched into her face. She frowned when Wyrick began speaking, sensing the initial uncertainty, then her jaw clenched tightly when the Commander described what had transpired during the mission.

Unconsciously her hand balled into a fist, wound so tight her nails were digging into her flesh. "Elpsis got bitten," she took a deep breath, looking remarkably saddened, before she composed herself. An urge built up inside her being to irrationally lash out. A few years ago she would've probably been unable to resist the temptation.

To a degree, Siobhan had grown up. So she took a deep breath. You stupid, brave girl. You're not supposed to fething emulate me. "Poor girl. Please make sure the doctors do everything they can for her. It's important that she gets all the help she needs. I will...pass on word to her mother myself." Coryth is gonna kill me, Siobhan thought to herself grimly.

Fortunately, OP had fought these zombie creatures before and researched them extensively. Some of scientists involved had later joined Firemane. "Elpsis knew the risks. Thank you for informing me, Commander. Keep me posted on her condition. I want to know when she's out of the woods. How high are our casualties? Are reinforcements needed?" Presumably Siobhan was a bit out of loop regarding the general situation.

Rae had expected the fury of the head of Firemane to come down on her. Although as a Commander, she wasn't entirely in control of certain situations but did have a responsibility to all under her eye. At least Lady Kerrigan seemed to understand injuries were part of the job and were a typical hazard. Rae allowed her shoulders to relax slightly.

"Thank you. I am mopping up operations here and will be headed to check in on Miss Kallikora shortly. Last I heard she was rushed in quickly for immediate treatments. Let her mother know I can be reached at any time if she was would further details about our situation."

Despite the tragedy of the day, business still had to be conducted.

"We've cleared out all of the property -- several city blocks worth. Salacia placed a fence around their new piece of Elrood and fresh security forces have arrived to keep any infected from bunching up against the fencing. We lost two in the situation with roughly a dozen sustaining injuries of some type. Walking wounded. Miss Kallikora was the only one who needed immediate evac."

He'd expected it to be a trap.

He'd expected her to put up a fight, so he'd come prepared. Armor. Blasters. Lightsaber. Not the amphistaff. Not here, in a crowded hospital. If he lost control of the biot, or the venom started flying through the air, there were too many innocents at risk with far too volatile a creature as a Yuuzhan Vong creature when the battle was charged and it's bloodlust was triggered.

He'd expected her to already be out of the hospital bed. Escaped, as he had so many times. The assassination on Ascension. On Lorrd. The widowing fields of Wayland. He'd gone into so many fires, and emerged so unscathed, that it was easy to believe they were immortals.

She was lying in the hospital bed, on life support. The chromatic fur of the kushiban had gone a flat gray color. Her respiratory system had failed, necessitating a ventilator. Nerve degeneration indicated that she blind, possibly permanently.

She'd cut him deeper, but it seemed he'd cut her more. The multitude of scratches from a mere handful of near-misses from the amphistaff had still supplied enough of the neurotoxins resident in an amphistaff's venom sac that the killer rabbit had eventually succumbed to seizures. According to the medical file, the doctors and surgeons had fought to keep the Kushiban from suffering total synaptic failure.

It would be easy to look back on her life, or why she was ever here -- on Elrood -- and say that such was an end she deserved. She was a stone cold killer. She'd accepted a job whose employ meant putting a man in the cross-hairs of a rifle for no reason other than it paid.

The thing of it was, Boo had done the same.

They were no different, save for that K'ythri was stuck in the familiar patterns set for her by the Sith. And Boo was trying to atone for the blood on his hands the only way he knew how. By putting more blood on his hands. So, they really weren't different at all. K'ythri killed for money, Boo did it for free -- out of a sense of justice, or atonement, or whatever this was.

In the end, Siobhan had still been a soldier for most of her life. No plan survived first contact with the enemy, anyone who picked up a gun and went into battle knew the risks, injuries and death were an occupational hazard. This did not make the knife cut any less deep since someone she cared about got hurt.

However, business still had to be conducted. All things considered the mission was a success and casualties were minimal. "Understood. You and your troops are to be commended. I'll get in touch with Mr Dashiell soon. We may set up a more permanent presence on Elrood, training locals among other things, but I won't detain you any further for now. Keep up the good work."

Now Siobhan only had to survive a chat with Coryth...

She needed to change tactics.

So Nubica switched to the general comm frequency. "This is the Galactic Alliance to enemy fighters. Indicate your surrender now by descending to the planet's surface."

”"No!" The enemy pilot's voice was strained, a little high in pitch. ”"I will have your scalp or die!"

Nubica shrugged – not that the other pilots would see it. ’Worth a try!’ she thought to herself.

”"This is your last chance-"

She rapidly decelerated, an attempt to force the others to overshoot and prayed her ship would hold together. She was surprised and pleased in equal measures as her tactic worked. In their eagerness to finish her off, they’d been distracted.

She fired and saw her quad-linked lasers shred the first black craft ahead of her, punching through the fuselage directly behind the cockpit; the craft rolled in the air, its structural integrity compromised, and disintegrated into a dozen different pieces.

The girl sighed as she continued driving to the location she'd been given. She had literally no clue how to get the item out of there without anybody noticing it. But she had to do that and there was no way back.

After a short while, she was there. The magnificent former factory was now just like it had been left outside. However, she guessed it would be a lot better in the outside. Even though something inside told her it would not be so.

She jumped off the speeder and marched to the main entrance with confidence. Her hand rested on her lightsaber hilt as she took a deep breath before taking the hilt off of her belt. If there was a way she could do this without using her weapon, she would be lucky. But she believed it would not be so easy. After all, she was attending a criminal auction.

And at that moment, she understood how to get the relic back.

Before stepping into the building, she contacted the man once again, to which he responded with another simple laugh. The girl didn't hesitate, though, "I am going to need a ton of money. And if I mean a ton, I really mean millions of credits. And I need all of that on my bank account. I have an idea how to get the relic back."

The man sounded a little bit surprised, "You want to buy it back?"

"Bingo."
