Just for the sake of imagination, what would a Tier 7 look like?

I am not against an increase in difficulty when it comes to tier advancement, though I question the need for an additional Tier. At a certain point it becomes less about utility and usefulness, and more about implementing things that only 1% of the community would ever reach anyway.

Do I think that further development and writing expansions should be rewarded? Yes. Do I think that Arceneau Trading Company is already being rewarded for Danger's work? Definitely. How? By the sheer amounts of influence that she has in every corner of the Galaxy, how much that name is now a synonym for the trading and shipping business.

I think further increases in Tiers are not necessary, but then again? Neither do I see the harm in it. So write me up as a casual onlooker with a muddled opinion.

So, the only argument you have for the inclusion of a Tier 7 is "Let's make ATC better than any other company."
Considering it was a brief example in a kind of tongue-in-cheek proposal, I didn't feel the need to write half a page on why I think having a tier 7 would be awesome. My point, which I'll reiterate, was that if someone -- anyone -- wants to spend that much work on a corporation (and considering how many tier 5-6 corps there are, and how many hundreds of corps have been approved, it's safe to say corps aren't an edge case), it would be cool for there to be a higher level to aspire to. I don't give a crap about ATC, lol. I just respect work. There's other reasons, too, most of them pretty obvious, but since everyone has a different reason for saying yes or no, I won't bother.

Honestly, I'm not voting either way on the matter. On either matter. I know that Tier 7 was proposed a while ago, as was a system in which companies could engage in corporate warfare with one another... Which may or may not be neat. But unless you've got three or more companies lined up to take up the Tier 7 mantle and/or start shooting at each other... I just... don't see the point in changing the rules for the entire factory... for the entire board... for the sake of one.

However, instead of trying to make it harder to advance in Tier or increasing the cap, why not set up a minimum standard for maintaining a company's current Tier? It's not like a writer should be rushing to get their company up to Tier 6 and then wandering off to go do something else now that they have a feather in their cap. For corporate types, creating submissions, working on projects, and flexing their economic muscles are just part of the fun of the character.

The judges and admins are already monitoring major and minor factions... When a minor faction is inactive enough, it is removed as a faction. When a major faction is inactive enough, it is downgraded to a minor faction and removed from the map. Why not set up a system to do the same with Companies?

I suppose this deserves a serious answer from me.

First of all, I'm going to fully admit that I have a vested interest in both of these things. I own Titan Industries, a Tier VI company that along with ATC could very likely hop right into Tier VII. I also own Astraeus Industrial and Kuhn Consolidated, two Tier III Companies that are both poised to jump to Tier IV. With that being said, I'm going to say that this makes me more apprehensive.

Tier Advancement:
To address making company growth more difficult, I'm going to say right off the bat that the Tier expansion of I->II->III->IV will never become more difficult than it currently is. I'm a huge proponent of more people getting into the game of companies, and I do not like the thought of small companies having a hard time growing into a Tier IV company. I view Tier IV companies as basically starting to step into the galaxy and gaining influence. I believe most things, if not all, can be accomplished with a Tier IV company.

Expansion to Tier V and then to VI signifies to me that a Tier IV company expands away from its original design and purposes and becomes something larger than itself. I would equate this to Monsanto or GE, companies that started out with a single purpose but now own a little bit of every single pie. This further expansion in my opinion would require further development. If I were to make it more difficult to raise to these Tiers it would not be about major faction contracts or miscellaneous threads. It would be about acquiring Subsidiaries, contracts with smaller entities( Lower Tier Corporations and Minor Factions), and expanding to new locations.

Tier 7:
I cannot lie and say that my heart does not desire this, but I will ask one simple question.

Why?

What could I possibly do at Tier VII that I can't do at Tier VI? The way I see it right now this would be little more than a way to wave my e-peen around and say I have one of the few Tier VII's. The only tangible bonus would be that corporate fleets become larger. That's it. Thats the only benefit as far as I'm aware.

So for those of you who desperately want Tier VII to happen, here are some questions I'd like answered first.

1. What would Tier VII accomplish for your corporation?
2. What can't you do now that you could do under Tier VII?
3. What in your mind is the difference between Tier VI and VII?
4. What would the Tier Expansion look like?
5. How much are you willing to pay me?
