Two Types of fans: Star Wars vs Star Trek

Ok so I watched a video about Star Wars VII and, according to Mila Kunis, you are either a fan of Star Wars or Trek. I honestly believe her. I think that you can like both but you can't love both. Even my grandfather who loves both said to me "I think Star Wars is the greatest and no matter what, Trek will never come close!"

Ok so what do you think? Can you be a dedicated/hardcore fan for both or do you believe that you can only love one?

In my opinion it depends on your how you like your heroes.

Star Wars was pretty much clear cut the lines of good and evil. Star Trek, they were more flawed, closer to shades of grey I think. So answer your question, I am a fan of both and of Babylon 5 and Serenity (but that is a totally different story). I am fan of the stories they deliver, which in their own ways invoke a sense of wonder and delight in exploring the possibilities out there.

Um... I hate Star Trek, no matter what. It just doesn't give a feeling like I would like it to really happen. I love Star Wars. It made me have another wish... A wish to create a Galactical Republic. But that's a long story. So I hate Star Trek, love Star Wars.

I just think Star Wars had such a greater universe. Star Wars has so many stories and characters and lore to it.

And some guy said he thinks it is narrowed down to Star Wars, Star Trek, and Star Fox. I don't know about you guys, but Star Fox is no where close to Star Wars or Trek.

I don't get it, what is so good in Star Trek. It is a stupid space ship race, where some elfies walk around and some aliens have their own language the even Google uses... I am sorry, but it's my opinion.

I'm just gonna say that it helps to actually watch a couple of episodes of Trek before you label it "Old People Sci-fi". It had some pretty interesting philosophical ideas like civil rights for self-aware computers or "Where do we draw the line at what makes us human?"

I disagree. I like them both equally, but for different reasons. Star Wars was based on 1940's cliffhanger serials, the works of Joseph Campbell, and the movies of Akira Kurosawa. Star Trek was based on Gene Roddenberry's optimistic vision of a Western in space. Each hits a different part of my brain, and both are great.

I will say that you can like them both, though not entirely equally. Each universe is completely different, there are certain things in one universe that makes you enjoy it more than the other.
