Tython: Raid on the Jedi Archives

Gherron nodded slowly, understanding when he saw the figure in the archives. Making his way over with @[member="Cirk Voltjak"], unaired what exactly to do. When the knight let loose a force push, he followed suit, though it was nowhere near as powerful. He still hadn't had the chance to focus on training his force abilities, sadly. Drawing his lightsaber but not igniting it, he turned to the other Jedi. "We have to take her head on."

Cirk Voltjak

Jedi Knight, Healer, Protector.
He shook his head and places a hand on the Padawan's chest, stopping the rash one. "Go help Master DragonsFlame. I doubt this one will cause much more trouble and anyway she is much too powerful for either you or I" His tone was one of not to be argued with as he watched the supposed Sith.

"And if I were to take you on your offer, would you reveal your true self then or continue to wear that mask." He tilted his head and pulled out his interlocking saber, twirling it in his hand as he pulls the data she collect towards him intending to destroy it.

@[member="Gherron Vael"] @[member="Spencer Jacobs"]

Steps getting heavier, he was having more and more trouble walking. Thankfully he'd not been exposed as much to whatever this feeling was that almost had him falling to the deck, so he still had the strength to round the corner, and come across the sheer gravity of the situation. Strewn about the place were padawans, guards, and frell knows what else fighting them.

Fighting the want to just keel over, he trudged on, the innate resilience of the fledgling Jedi obviously on show as the steps became like lead in his boots, still feeling that draining just as much as anyone else. Ascending some stairways to an upper balcony, giving him a positional advantage, he squatted down, pressing his side against a pillar for support, and aiming over a ledge, just a minimal amount exposed to be hit in any return fire.

"Careful what you wish for." Kei said under his breath to @Spencer Jacobs's taunting, a dead eye stare showing an experienced aim exactly where it needed to be, nowhere near the Sith. There was a split second exhale in his breath cycle, and the trigger was pulled.

A constant stream of rapid blaster carbine fire, hit above the hole in the wall. A spot on a supporting beam already weakened from many previous impacts, attempting to pull enough rubble down on top of that hole, to make it either impossible to pass, or just crush those anywhere near the escape route. With any luck he'd barricade the side of that wall, splitting up or cutting off the Sith, that is if he got the chance to keep firing away....

Their exit set to become a weapon against them, as the warrior's mind turned a disadvantage into an advantage. Who said not to bring a blaster to a saber fight?

Ven managed to stop himself just as the blade of one saber was about to head towards @Daella Apparine.

"Sorry." he said before turning back to @[member="Valik"].

Following her example, Ven used the force to throw a much debris as he could towards the Sith. He threw two large pieces and several smaller ones, hoping the mix of them in with the many that Daella threw would eventually knock Valik off his guard. Fearing if all else would fail Ven looked and saw that Daella didn't have a lightsaber, deciding to hand her the one he'd found himself.

"Here." he said. "Just in case." with a slight smile.

The wall behind Val'Ryss burst open with a powerful force. A gaping hole appeared, Velok must have signalled the retreat. Val'Ryss smiled as she finished up her dark spell. There was enough blood for it to be unleashed. Reaching out her hand she shocked the ground with lightening and the spell was completed. A dark curse was burned into the force signature of the building and of its inhabitants. The area would be filled with a foul force consuming poison. It would become very difficult for jedi to channel the force in this area. Seeing her work completed, Val'Ryss spun about and made for the hole near the archives. However, she sensed a familiar signature. It was Spencer, she could see her now as well as she moved. Val'Ryss moved to avoid her and leave her to her fate. But suddenly a force within her held her in place. The tiny bit of light within her, kept alive by her ancient feelings being a mother and combined with her knowledge that Spencer was indeed one of her blood the light-side within her burned for her to act. Val'Ryss cursed under her breathe, spinning about she pushed against the floor, concentrating the force into her legs, and burst into a rapid run.

Bursting onto the scene, she leapt onto a wall and pushed in a force leap to land between Spencer and the jedi that surrounded her. As she landed the whip cracked into the life and burn a long streak across the floor. Rising up Val'Ryss glared at the jedi with her burning ruby eyes. "Do not ask questions, take what you have a leave Spencer." Val'Ryss whispered to Spencer through the force. She then addressed the jedi. The dark taint and poisonous spells she controlled boiled in the force in her fingertips. "Now the circle of death has descended." Val'Ryss hissed as she gestured to the line burnt into the ground in front of her. "Cross the line and you shall never see the light again. Now choose. Je'daii."

"Go now," Velok rumbled to @[member="Valik"], and tossed a nod of grudging respect at @[member="Kei Amadis"], whose clever move forced him to stop draining life from all and sundry in order to telekinetically clear the gap once more. He found the time to throw out a hand and redirect the piece of debris thrown by Daella, sparing Valik a potentially crippling wound. Caught as he was in the give-me-everything mindset left over from the Force Drain, the bit of debris arced toward Velok and slashed a line across his ribs. With a grunt, the Dark Lord finished pulling the debris field.

"Go," he said again, and put himself between Valik and the rest of the room. Undifferentiated power warped the air around both hands, tainted by the lives he'd stolen. Valik, @[member="Val'Ryss Zankarr"] and @[member="Spencer Jacobs"] had a clear shot at escape. Velok was determined to make himself the only target.

Anyone who wanted a piece of them would have to go through him.

Valik

Professor of Alchemy
"Have fun." Valik said to the whiphid @[member="Velok"], not bothering to suggest a rendezvous location. They'd gone over a few before, and he suspected if Velok really wanted to track him he could do so without much effort or difficulty. Once at the rendezvous Valik would give Velok the holocrons, and Velok would give him this other prize he spoke of, some sort of failure that he could make use of.

With the telekinetic assaults on Valik blocked by the Whiphid, Valik made his way out and towards his Cutter-Class interceptor, not quite as fast as Velok's Aleph, but more than fast enough for what he was doing. It'd take him a little while to get there on foot, but he was relatively close. He supposed how easily he made it out would depend on how the Whiphid distracted the others.

Jekk Reth

Defensive Specialist
Over the next several seconds, Jekk slipped in and out of consciousness, his body an immobile heap on the ground. Finally, his blue-tinged eyes flickered back to life. For a long moment, he simply laid there, listening to the blare of intense combat which echoed from the library. Lightly, he began flexing his hands, feet, and arms. No significant damage - as far as he could feel. Still, a pain emanated from his left arm.

The pillar which he had impacted was still intact, surprisingly. Slowly, he climbed to an upright position, relying on the column for support. His robes were tattered, covered in dust, the cloth torn by shards of glass. His lightsaber rested on the edge of a wall only a few feet away from him, and Jekk quickly moved to retrieve it, kneeling down with some effort to pick it up.

With one glance, he peered into the door, and witnessed the absolute destruction and mayhem. Book shelves, pillars, and casings littered the ground, along with the great, massive form of the walking whale. Obscured, dimly lit forms appeared to be locked in battle, though he could barely see from his stationary location. Undeterred, the Jedi stumbled through the doorway, igniting his misty-blue blade as he did so.

Apparently, nobody wanted a piece of him. But that was nothing more than a continuation of a trend. Most of their assaults had focused on the masked Valik. The Whiphid shrugged and continued to backstep out the hole in the wall, power still rippling around his hands. His aura kept the Darkstaff fragments in place, and he scooped up one final holocron, thrown across the room along with the rest of the archives by Hion the Herglic's sonic blasts. Well, the rest of the archives apart from the mountain of stuff that had been piled up in the remains of the high-security vault, along with a buried parcel.

With a mocking half-solute, he stepped back, intending to fall out of the side of the Jedi Temple. From there, a Qey'tek expression and basic, flawed bent-light cloak should get him to the Aleph-class he'd arranged for, a couple of klicks away.

Diana ran through the forest as fast as she could, something within the back of her mind called to her. It was a strange sensation, one she had not felt since she was a padawan and a small grease fire had started in the kitchens of the temple. She had no idea what was wrong, but the strong feeling in her head told her that there was definitely something up back at the Jedi Temple. So with all the strength she could muster Diana ran, rushing back to the temple through the forest.

She of course had not been at the temple when the Sith had done their daring raid on the Archives, instead Diana had been within the forest hunting for her dinner that night and trying to find some peace and quiet. She found the temple to be far too...loud for her liking and getting out in the forest helped keep her sane.

The young Jedi Padawan ran as fast as she could without using the force. She knew that whatever was wrong she would likely need to use her abilities when she got there...that was assuming it wasn't another fire.

She ran through the forest as fast as she could, each step left a deep footprint within the mod. Several times she stepped on roots in the forest until she reached a clearing. As she reached the very edge of the forest Diana welled the force up within her legs. She gathered the energy and then stepped on a nearby root launching herself up and clear across the clearing...

Until she struck and invisible wall. With full force she slammed against an object, instantly stopping her in her tracks.

Go through, or around him... With the release of the draining energies, Kei felt his energy returning slowly, only to be replaced by the choking, burning sensation of poison now flowing through his veins. The force poison was in him, no doubt there, but it didn't affect his force powers, because he didn't have any yet. All he had was the blaster carbine, a knowledge of what it took to win a fight, and a bitter, bitter determination to save his crew, no matter what.

In some ways what he did next was not unlike @[member="Velok"] 's distraction. The battlefield in front of him, he could see it all. Hoping the balcony Kei landed with a heavy thud the other side, pressing deeper through the poison field regardless, and advancing on the left flank of the Sith. The Epicanthix had plenty of cover from all of the fallen stone, half standing pillars and... bodies. His carbine was perfect at this closing range, though it meant he was more at the mercy of the all the other Sith's powers also, but the sheer guile in the man blinded him to that.

Sadly taking pot shots at the retreating form of the Sith Master was about all he could do, as the man started to back away. "Someone get on his right side!" Kei coughed harshly, having to pause behind a pillar, back to the crumbling stone, trying to fight the poison now welling up through his veins, and focus. It was no easy task, but he wanted, whatever the frell this thing was in a crossfire if he came forward again.

Unfortunately with the pause he was too slow to actually catch @[member="Velok"]. Watching the vanishing Sith Master, the warrior in him vowed to meet him again one day, but he had to make sure the rest of the crew were safe first. It was about that time, the poison, and the exertion from the force drain caught up with him like a freight train hitting him head on. Kei fell to his knees, hands on the floor to support himself, and almost blacked out.

He unfortunately could not take on the two strangers, the Sith woman and the other assailant. He turned away and felt the Sith poison course through his veins, falling to a single knee, he closed his eyes and focussed his advanced Force Healing to stop the poison, but due to the advanced poison and lacking of time he was only able to stop the poison as he moved painfully but hiding from his face.

He bent down and checked on Hion, making sure he was only unconscious, once sure he then made sure there wasnt any hidden injuries. He sighed but nothing seemed to be damaged, just exhaustion from the bellow and Sith Force Drain. He stood and saw the Padawan Kei collapse, shocked he moved quickly and placed a single hand on the man's back between his shoulderblades.

Noticing he was showing obvious of injury he tilted his head "Is there any injuries Padawan?"

Valik

Professor of Alchemy
With the whiphid taking his time to leave, Valik decided to do the same. The Living Holocron's force presence, after a moment was gone, replaced by the bland and mostly unsenseable Qey'tek technique. At least he assumed so, the whiphid could be dead, but he didn't guess so. The loss would feel different he guessed. In either case, hiding Valik's own Force Signature was not a bad idea, even though no one could pinpoint who he was with his Taozian Lacquer stained armor, they could still tell he was of the Darkside, and of a reasonably powerful sort as well. So, he reactivated the Force Disperser he had used to get in here. Unlike the Whiphid however, Valik didn't have the necessity of a photo-kinesis or bent-light cloaks to make him invisible. Problem right?

Wrong. Valik was a great practitioner of Sith Alchemy, one of the best likely, and had used this talent to make himself look like a Kel Dor on the way in, which also allowed himself to wear a handy breath mask. Once Valik was sufficiently away from the Temple he used the Masking attributes of Sith Alchemy to change his face again, to the crimson-eyed blue skinned complexion of a Chiss, dumping his breath mask by hurdling it away from himself with the Force. With his face changed, Force Signature gone, all he had to do was make his way to his unmarked, neutral Interceptor and fly his way out of the land of the psuedo-pacifist cult.

With a grunt of annoyance and grudging respect, Velok raised his hand. Tutaminis, energy manipulation, was his strong suit insofar as he had one. In younger and stronger days, he'd once survived a nuclear explosion. The blaster bolts slammed into his palm; he moved his hand by instinct, intercepting the bolts. Their momentum still shoved him off the ledge.

He hit the ground harder than intended, and took a moment to lean against the wall of the Jedi Temple and catch his breath. Light bent around him, and he sprinted for the treeline under cloak. Qey'tek effaced his Force presence, and he came at last to the clearing where he'd left his cloaked ship.

@[member="Diana Moridena"] had just run into the dang thing. Currently, the teenager was on the ground. The Dark Lord's visual cloak vanished as he moved around where he seemed to recall the Aleph landing.

"Clear out, girl," he rumbled, "it's been a long day."

Diana lay on the ground for a few minutes, she had absolutely no idea what she had struck or why it was within the middle of the clearing. Slowly she reached up and touched her forehead, a small streak of blood was slowly falling down her brow. She frowned as she inspected the red liquid on the tips of her finger, shaking slightly as she looked at the blood. She had no idea when she last bled from injury, the young Jedi Padawan was hardly used to the sight.

Suddenly a voice rang out within the clearing causing Diana to nearly jump. Quickly she bounded to her feet, taking careful measure to avoid the invisible whatever that had knocked her down earlier. Slowly she rose to her feet, turning her head towards the stranger and trying to identify him.

Finally she was upon her feet, the thin streak of blood dripping from her brow onto her clothes. She found herself quite puzzled by the alien that stood before her. Diana had never encountered a Whiphid before and the sight of such a strange creature puzzled her quite a bit. The temple of Tython of course had other aliens, but no Whiphids. Aliens had always fascinated her, and this one was no exception. In her quick observation of the alien Diana of course noticed he was no Jedi. His robes were different, his demeanor was strange, and something within the back of her mind screamed that something was off.

“No...” She said the words with measured denial at first, barely sounding it out. Then she gained her confidence, moving the robe at her side and readying her two lightsabers just in case. “I am Jedi Moridena and I demand that you identify yourself and your intentions on this world.”

Diana left out that she was only a Padawan, he didn't need to know after all.

"Your insight serves you well," the Dark Lord rumbled, trudging across the clearing.

He turned around and manipulated something invisible, his arm vanishing up to the elbow in the cloaking field. The jury-rigged stygium cloak sat on the top of the Aleph starfighter. Whether it would get him out or not, that was another question. Cockpit servomotors whined, and he felt a tug at his belt as the fragments of the Darkstaff passed into the care of the pilot droid and a nullification-resin box. The whole exchange was conducted within the cloaking field, basically just the touch of a button and a bit of telekinesis.

He turned back toward the Padawan, away from the cloaked fighter. Its repulsorlifts hummed to life, filling the clearing with wind. "My name is Velok, I destroyed Rhommamool and Osarian, and I'm leaving. Bring me to justice if you like."

@[member="Velok"]
Diana stared intently at the alien, not quite knowing what to do next. She guessed that the cloaked thing she had run into and was still standing next to was some sort of ship. Quite truthfully the padawan had absolutely no idea what to do in this situation. She had never been trained for this, never been told what to do in this kind of situation, hell she had never even read about anything like this. She stared at the alien, and then finally realized what exactly he was, a Sith.

A dark scowl creased her face. She knew exactly what a Sith was, and the prospect of fighting one absolutely terrified her. As the realization of what he was came upon her she took another instinctive step backwards, her back hitting part of the cloaked fighter once again.

As her robes touched one of the invisible fighters wings something dawned on her. She couldn't allow a Sith to just leave, who knew what he had done here, why he was here on Tython or what he had taken. Diana had to stop him somehow...had to at least prevent him from leaving. The Scowl on her face turned into an expression of neutrality and the look of fear in her eyes seemed to face away slightly, quickly replaced by stern determination.

With just a quick reach of her hand Diana drew her lightsabers, slapping them into her palms and igniting the two blades. With a snap and a hiss the two stark blue blades sprang to life. “I cannot let you leave. By Authority of the Jedi Order I am placing you under arrest.”

Suddenly Diana twisted the lightsaber hilt in her hand backwards. She sliced wildly into the invisible object behind her severing conduits, wires, and hopeful something vital to the ships flight systems. Seconds after she damaged the ship she withdrew her saber and bounded forward with almost unnatural aggression.

Her speed and grace were an echo of another once powerful Kiffar, though as she sliced her blade towards his left calf her strike seemed decidedly less lethal.

@[member="Diana Moridena"] had picked easily the most predictable move in the world. Didn't mean it wouldn't cause serious troubles for his escape. The cloak flickered and died, though a gesture and a subtle telekinetic manipulation kept her sabre away from where Velok knew the critical systems to be.

That leap forward, that quick transition from sabotage to assault -- that caught him by surprise. And he paid for it. His block was late, his sabre slow to deploy, and the Jedi blade sheared through his left leg cleanly, at right angles to the bones.

Next thing he knew, he was flat on his left side, cramping all the way up to his hip, scrambling to institute crucitorn. Well, feth.

@[member="Velok"]
Diana kept up her attack, she had no idea what the strange alien could do and when she saw that her first blow had done a surprising amount of damage she knew that she had to keep up the momentum. All her life she had been quite gifted in lightsaber and close combat, it was what worked best for her and here it seemed to be exactly what she needed for victory.

So when the strange alien fell Diana used her small frame to follow up her attacks. The Large alien towered over her and so while he was falling Diana still had several seconds to strike. She did so by lashing out with her right hand this time, not slicing or stabbing with her lightsaber but instead using the solid metal end of the hilt to try and smash the strange alien in the temple...or where she guessed his temple would be.

Diana was a Jedi, not a Sith or rogue force user. Even against a Sith she could not kill, it was not within her moral code. She may have been lazy, apathetic, and perhaps even a little bitchy, but she was no killer.

So with an abnormally powerful blow from a girl her size Diana simply attempted to knock the alien unconscious.

He couldn't get crucitorn fast enough, so he went with pain feed. Or rather it took him along, coupled with a really significant fury, a wild indignation that was half embarrassment and half get this mess away from me.

Yellow eyes snapped open, and her lightsabre stopped dead in midair. He slapped the ground hard enough to rise, telekinesis working alongside his strength, but he only rose to one knee. The foot bumped against his shin.

They said Force Drain could only be learned by experience. Well, @[member="Diana Moridena"] was about to learn. His Qey'tek shredded, devoured by an almighty hunger that had been piqued and awoken by the life energies of the Padawans in the archive. In the Force, Velok was a black hole.
