Nathan stood over the bodies of another set of Mandalorians without his own Mandalorian disguise. Another set of actual civilians rescued from flamethrowers. Mandalorians enjoyed sending messages. Nathan cared only for results.
That was when they had intercepted transmissions that a star destroyer was going to smash into the city. Estimated time of arrival was ten minutes.
It had been an interesting experiment. But it was time to end it. They had to get the hell out of here.
"We're leaving." Nathan said, getting his com-link and realizing it had taken a blaster bolt. He put it back with a look of disgust.
"Where do we go if we can't run?" a Civilian asked
"I have no fethin' idea." Nathan answered, grimace deeper than usual. "Honestly, it wouldn't matter
where we ran. The impact will destroy any underground shelter. The outer city will almost certainly be completely annihilated."
"
Monsters!" one of the Civilians screamed in despair
"Isn't there anything you can do?" One Twi'lek man asked.
Nathan thought a moment and sighed.
"Great. Exactly what I
didn't want to do..." He muttered.
Nathan closed his eyes, opened his bond to the one creature he absolutely did not want a bond to.
Your assistance is requested.
There was no real reply so much as a general sense of acknowledgement.
The Civilians and rebels were startled by the sudden explosion from a street in the distance. Followed by another that was closer, and another that was closer than that.
Something walked out of the inferno in the distance in a dark green Jedi Jumpsuit, with long, curly crimson hair.
Nathan scowled at the sight of
Syd Celsius
as she approached them. She naturally
gravitated wherever he traveled, even if it was unconsciously. He couldn't
stand it.
But damned if it didn't have it's occasional uses.
Syd looked constantly uncomfortable. Nervous. She occasionally suffered intense panic attacks. Her nerves only got more shot around him, knowing he could barely restrain himself from trying to kill her.
"How can I help?" Syd asked.
"We need a lift. Literally."
Syd stared into his cold green eyes.
"Everyone gather together. I guess I'm playing Taxi." Syd said.
"LOOK!" one of the Biots called out.
Everyone turned. The star destroyer had arrived early.
Nathan's eyes widened. No way they would get out of the way in time. No
way. Even with Syd's help.
Nathan and the others could only watch as the Star Destroyer headed towards the city.
He and Syd could save themselves, he supposed, but he didn't want one of the Civilians last sights to be the one who had helped rescue them fleeing to save his own life.
Syd sensed his intent to stay with the frightened people and did not contest it, choosing instead to stay with them as the Star Destroyer sped faster.
"Gather 'round..." he said to the frightened, screaming people, who huddled around him for lack of a better option.
"Syd,
calm them." Nathan spoke.
Syd hissed an old spell she barely remembered and the people were pacified. They were not scared as the Star Destroyer fell towards them.
Nathan was the only one who did not avert his eyes as the crashing ship sped towards the city. Syd however, was the only one apart from everyone else, preferring to essentially die alone, silent, with her head down in
shame.
Then...at the last few seconds, it's angle shifted. Not much but just enough that even
Nathan's heart skipped a beat as the crashing ship's angle of approach began to veer off ever so slowly but surely.
Nathan was the only one who gave no sign of relief.
"Get ready!" he yelled.
The ship
barely missed Lessu but the impact *rattled everything." Some of the outskirts of the city were destroyed regardless, and everyone except Syd, who floated with the Force, was thrown to the ground.
Nathan pulled himself up, and helped the others up too.
"Syd,
now you have a purpose..." he growled snidely at her. "The Civilians. Get them out of here."
Syd said nothing in reply but nodded.
Nathan sent all the Civilians who didn't see want to fight towards her. She chanted a spell that surrounded her and the others in a red tinged bubble of Force Energy, lifting them off rapidly into the sky and speeding them away.
Nathan turned to the others.
"Who wants to stick around and keep killing these bastards?" Nathan asked.
No one objected.
Besides, a freaking
Star Destroyer had nearly hit the city and obliterated it. At some point, you
have to start taking chit like that
personal.
"We have to get off the street. They'll be looking to take advantage in the chaos."
The whole group of Rebels and Li-Ves warriors moved quickly Through wreckage and debris, keeping their heads low to avoid being shot by snipers. They came across another group of dead Mandalorians, killed hours earlier by what looked like lightsaber wounds.
"Strip them of their equipment except for their armor and rifles." Nathan ordered. "Pose the bodies. Set them up as decoys."
The no longer disguised Biots dragged the dead Mandalorians off the road into a burned out building, propping them up to make it seem like they were acting as snipers for the area. They got behind cover as they saw a convoy of armored, Mandalorian vehicles pass by. They were heading to the crash site just past the city, the explosion of which had leveled many of the buildings at the edge which it had crashed.
Nathan looked at their captured arms, he pulled out a two thermal detonators and an RPS-6 Rocket Launcher. He took a quick peak out. Four tanks. Crap.
"Okay..." he whispered, pointing at all the barrels.
"What are you doing?" One of the Civilians who had chosen violence asked.
"Trigonometry... Algebra... Calculus..." Nathan answered in a tone that put ice up the Civilian's spine. "Please don't disturb me. These calculations are very
sensitive..."
He leaned from cover and fired the rocket first, then tossed the two detonators after arming them.
All three items were teleported towards the trajectory of the mouths of tank barrels, the detonators going right into the barrel of the first two Mandalorian Tanks, the rocket going down the barrel of the one in the back of the convoy.
The explosion of the tanks was tremendous and knocked everyone down in the building. Nathan scrambled back to the window he fired from and saw that three of the tanks had been obliterated, while the third in line was severely on fire and trapped between two burning wrecks...but it was still in fighting condition, and it's barrel was swiveling towards the building.
Nathan held out his hand, opened himself to the Force, placed his trust in it... hesitantly.
The tank fired a high explosive shell at the building.
Nathan teleported the shell just as it armed...and it reappeared directly over the tank, heading straight down.
The tank erupted in a ball of flame.
Nathan took two rebels and headed outside.
He spotted a Mandalorian somehow crawl out of the tank, still alive, but on fire, he jumped out, flailing around, desperately trying to put out the flames on him.
Nathan wasn't quite sure why he didn't just let him burn. Maybe it was the screaming. It wasn't like he actually
cared about his enemy's life.
Yet for some reason, he found himself using Pyrokinesis to douse the flames. He didn't let himself think too hard on it.
He raised an eyebrow when the features of his armor made him realize he was dealing with a Twi'lek Mandalorian.
He felt the rage bubble in the rebels next to him but said nothing. It was not his job to dissuade their feelings of wrath. After all, it wasn't
his planet getting sacked.
"Traitor!" A Twi'lek rebel screamed, aiming her rifle at the wounded Mandalorian...only for Nathan's hand to grab her rifle and yank upward, throwing off her aim.
"He is unarmed and severely wounded. He cannot fight back." Nathan pointed out. "It's a
crime if you kill him."
"Who's gonna know?" The Rebel asked.
Nathan leaned forward slightly.
"You will." he answered back coldly.
The Rebel stared back at Nathan and lowered her rifle.
"We leave him." The Rebel spat. "I ain't giving aid to no traitor."
Nathan shrugged. "Fair enough."
Nathan soon gathered everyone else and they went hunting for more targets...
