Uncommon and Unpredictable

Kay-Larr

Kay chewed the inside of her cheek as she stood on the landing pad by the Palace. She had gotten word from [member="Veiere Arenais"] that he was coming home to Commenor. It was in good timing in a way, given that he had proposed to her out of the blue not long ago. The two hadn't celebrated, nor did she even make a formal announcement to her people. Privacy was very important to her, especially as she had so little of it. For this kind of news to get out early before they had even really discussed it, well, she didn't want that. No doubt Veiere didn't want that either.

This was their time. Time to celebrate, time to talk without others around, time to be together. Guards were nearby, but they had orders to leave once Veiere was with her. He was her former bodyguard afterall.

The future was so unpredictable. It was never set in stone. She learned that long ago. Kay just hoped that in this new future, she'd be able to retain that which gives her hope, her beacon of light in the Darkness.

With her eyes skyward, she waited.

The Vagabond slowly descended upon the royal docking bay floor, the vessels landing struts sinking into the hull of the freighter as they absorbed the shock from the weight of the ship coming to ground. Seated beside Cillian, Veiere found himself looking out over the royal palace taking in a slow breath as he found himself uncertain in how to best proceed from there. Much had happened over the recent days and he had returned to Commenor, informing [member="Lady Kay"] of his intention to remain there now. However that was to sit with her government, he didn't know though she had given him her support and beyond all difficulties of late, their relationship had never been stronger. His life it seemed would return to simpler times, times when he would be free to roam without the waves of consequence flowing to every corner of the room he inhabited, no longer was the spotlight of politics going to be on him constantly. As a former consular, one that had tried for a great time to avoid it all before becoming swallowed by his search for the right path, he now found that in the quiet, he was most comfortable. It was here he could best listen to the Force and try to find that old self, that part of him that yearned not for the promise of fate but simply enjoy the time that he had, while he had it.

"Kay's got soldiers with her..." Cillian spoke up, causing Veiere to stand and move to look down through the right side of the cockpit, noting the guards and offering a brief wave to Kay. "Escorts, don't worry Cillian..." He turned back to the lad, smiling a little in reassurance before moving to the back of the vessel and collecting his robe, that of which he swung over the back of his shoulders to drape over that old sandy tunic of his. Nothing had felt quite like him, more so than the age old attire of the Jedi Order; he only wished he might find the wisdom again that those years had taught him. Much had changed in Veiere, there was a great deal of uncertainty, unease for the way the worlds had spun around him, a sense of self that he seemed not to be able to cling to, whether it was out of reach or he simply expected more of himself, who could tell anymore. "Does this mean we're working for Commenor again?" Cillian asked as he followed Veiere, hoping for some sort of clue as to how he was going to get his next pay check. Veiere himself had his share of credits, credits that could supply his young friend with a wage for the next three years and yet the boy didn't do well without something in front of him, something to distract him from his own uncertainties. "I'll work you into something Cillian, don't worry...-For the time being, mind the Vagabond. She'll need refueling before we head back into the hills..." Veiere patted the side of the craft, soon nodding to the boy and making tracks for the landing ramp, moving down it and straight into the company of the women who would no longer be so far out of his reach like all else had been.

With his appearance, the guard around her turned and retreated into the Palace, for whatever reason Veiere could only assume to be Kay's instructions. "You were worried I might make a bad impression?" He smiled to her, his tone light and teasing, glad to be back in her presence and without the weight of worlds to cloud out what put him most at ease.

Kay spotted [member="Veiere Arenais"] from the window as the Vagabond came into view. Was he waving to her? She smiled and waved back, her mood lifted as he drew nearer, a little surprised to find out that she had been holding her breath. So she let it out.

As Veiere stepped out and approached, she noted his attire, the robes and tunic that she was used to. It made him look a little older, but that could be just the effect of stress. After some relaxation, he should be back to his usual self again. They both should be.

Kay met him halfway on his approach and found his jest to be quite amusing. Her gaze turned up to meet his, the yellow speckles in her eyes a little fainter. It wasn't that she was wearing contacts, it's just that they were fading. Her use of the Darkside had lessoned as of late. Other priorities had taken over her time. "A bad impression? You? I find that hard to believe....I'm lucky enough to get this time alone with you." She wrapped her arms around him in a warm embrace, her eyes closing as she took in the joy of having him close once again. "I've set up a picnic for us, if you're hungry. I figured that you'd want to enjoy the fresh air."

Kay knew that he didn't like her title or how she aquired it, so she wanted to keep him away from the Palace for a bit.

He was surprised that she wrapped her arms around him, the palace grounds most often holding the company of her people, not to mention the docking crew, though he wasn't one to look a gift horse in the mouth; he took her into his embrace and turned his gaze to the side, resting his head atop hers gently. It was a hold that made everything else blur in the background, the two of them were connected on so many levels that no matter what came his way, or tried to get in the way of their happiness together, they'd still fight through fire and steel to protect what they had. Veiere didn't concern himself with her position over Commenor so much as the title itself, she had always been a born leader of the Commenori people, but for the longest time she'd meant much more to him too, he had risked his life on several occasions for her and now that he was back home, he'd likely continue to do so if it meant keeping her safe. The Business and politics of it all, he had no further interest in. After being away for so long, he hadn't returned to take up any part of that area of her life, he only wished for the quiet of the world and the comfort of her company once more. Finding himself consumed by her embrace, he soon guided her chin gently up and turned into her, a kiss that he had been so long without. Between their split priorities, they hadn't had the time to enjoy one another as they'd have liked. Only after it was broken, did he grin to her with a whisper escaping him "Better get used to having me around again...".

"A picnic then, is it" He chuckled softly, replying to her suggestion a little after their moment had passed, it wasn't what he'd expected though sounded like the best way to come back home, sharing the privacy and quiet of the good days weather under the sun with her; "Cillian's aboard the Vagabond, he'll refuel and return my belongings to the estate in the hills. I'll resume living there if you don't mind..." He smiled faintly to her, hoping that she'd not re-purposed the building since he'd been so focused on Ession for so long. Veiere didn't plan on staying within the Palace, it just wasn't his cup of tea so to speak and within the hills, the sanctuary of nature felt as if it offered him the best natural view of the Force itself, something of which he would need to bury himself within meditation of, to rekindle the flames of his past and that spark of dedication that had kept him going for so many years within self-exile.

"Lead the way then, love..." he added, turning with her and taking her hand into his, lacing his fingers in hers; "Just how 'full exposure' will we be taking things with the public...-Out of curiosity" he asked after second guessing the gesture, the two holding hands and strolling through the streets would no doubt grab the attention of the masses, given her residing power over Commenor.

A kiss. [member="Veiere Arenais"] had snuck in a kiss, though it wasn't unwelcomed or unwanted. She held it for a while, almost melting in his arms. But his comment on her having to get used to having him around again caused her to grin. "Careful now, that could be deemed as a threat..." She winked. Of course she'd hate to have him as her enemy. But if ever she was locked up in a cell again, she wouldn't mind having him with her. Any excuse to have him with her was a good one.

She nodded as he spoke of Cillian and Veiere's refuge estate in the mountains. "It's still yours. No one has been up there as far as I know. So there could be a fair bit of dusting to do." That and resupplying the food stocks should give them something to do. At least for a short while.

Kay gave his hand a small squeeze as she led him away from the landing pad. They weren't heading to the streets however, instead walking past the gardens and towards the hedge maze. "Well, it isn't something that can be hidden. Our marriage will be pretty big news. But for now, no one knows. I wanted us to have time to reconnect more first and give us privacy. I'm sure that you could use a break froom public life for a time." She knew that he'd rather be out of it all together, and in some ways, so would she. But it never worked out that way for her.

The Gardens were a sight Veiere had not taken in for quite some time, the grounds were exquisite with the works of the Palace groundskeepers; yard workers who were paid considerable less than any official though it didn't subtract from their works of which left the land beautifully complimenting the head capital and governing center of the world. "I suppose it's not..." He replied, though his thoughts moved to their immediate future. The proposal itself had been sudden, an act of intense emotion between them whilst surrounded by those of others strong in the force itself, perhaps it had been part of the fuel to ignite their bond in the Force on the day yet none of that made it any less genuine, his want to live alongside [member="Lady Kay"] had never been stronger. What complications would this bring them in the future, he didn't know yet it was worth risking in his mind. He didn't know what the marriage would mean for her position of leadership, that much hadn't been thought through but Veiere had no intentions of stepping on her toes there, he'd seen enough politics for one lifetime.

The two still had much to learn of each other, though they'd been together for over a year now, the relationship itself was still very new. Had she not been forced to forget all the good in her world than perhaps things wouldn't be so unusual but as she'd had to get to know him all over again and in the back of his mind Veiere had to rival the influence of her brief and former Sith Master, there was still a ways for them both. "I wonder how the people will warm to it, if they will at all...-The last political incident that held my involvement at all ended up with a fight in that very palace. I once had the royal Guard following my very word and these days they suspect me of treason..." He laughed gingerly, a joke made at the expense of the truth. "Not that it matters, your word is law where they're concerned but I'd hate to think that this arrangement might not go in your favor...".

Kay-Larr

Kay leaned into him as they walked, although she more or less took the lead. Her thoughts dwelled on his own that he was voicing. His concerns over the guards were no longer founded, though [member="Veiere Arenais"] had been elsewhere when that change was made. "You are not a traitor. Darlyn hand picked my personal guards. Those that my....former Master had chosen are gone. He has no influence here as far as I am aware. What his plans were that involved myself and Commenor, I don't know. Am I still being watched by them? It's possible....but I think that with each day that passes, that grows more and more unlikely."

She led him into the labyrinth, the path that she would take already memorized. This was a puzzle that she had been trying to solve for a while now. To solve it she needed to get to the other side. Reaching the centre was just a marker for the halfway point. That was the easy part to get to, meant to trick the player into a false sense of ease. But Kay wasn't intending to solve the labyrinth today. She just wanted to have some private time.

At the centre was a small clearing with a bench and fountain. A picnic basket lay in waiting and a blanket was neatly layed out on the grass. And of course, there was a set of tea.

Kay smiled as she saw it, the very thought of a chance to be herself and to speak freely with Veiere gave her much joy. He was everything that she needed right now, and the fact that he wanted her too made it all the better. "A light lunch for two. What do you think?"

Commenori Security Personnel had changed, this was news to Veiere though explained why his vessels clearance still checked out, they'd not had to forward their identification codes nor followed typical inbound flight procedure, the hangar had been open and awaiting them though the latter Veiere had expected was Kay's doing herself, whether or not her people had agreed seemed irrelevant, no one would've questioned her otherwise.

"That is good to know, means my presence here won't be a deterrent at all to your leadership..." Veiere nodded, his eyes taking in the sights of the maze that they walked, the scenery foreign to him having not walked this far into the gardens until now; his station within the security of the palace before everything had come undone had always been at Kay's side and this was not a place they'd frequented. He was glad to be of the chance here and now.

Regarding the Sith and the silence they seemed to have for the moment, that could go in any direction, or none at all. "They could be waiting to see whether or not you will follow in their course on your own, a test of loyalty with or without Prazutis to guide you....-Or something might have happened to them, forced them to lose interest..." There were more questions than answers there and Veiere had still yet to catch up to the man responsible for it all. He wanted answers, wanted an explanation for it all. How twisted Kay's life had become all for the pretense of a cause, now left to decay into senseless reason with no one to continue driving it forward. "Be prepared for their return but don't fear it. If that time comes I will be beside you...-Until then, you do what you can to follow in your own path".

The scene they soon stepped into within the center of the maze forced a chuckle to rise up and escape him. The blanket spread out across the grass, everything they could want had already been placed and awaiting the both of them, it was arguably one of the most feminine things Kay had done and Veiere found it all extremely cute, and rather amusing at the same time. Smiling back to her, the tone of his voice changed entirely as he agreed with her choice of location. "Well, you certainly put a lot of thought into this one" He grinned to her, giving her a little nudge in approving yet playful demeanor, "All we need is a violin in the background and we're set..." He added with obvious sarcasm, light hearted and good for a laugh.

Kay didn't want to think of the Sith right now. She did that often enough before she fell asleep, and on ocassional moments when she was alone in her office. Most of the time she kept her Force signature shrunk down, not only to hide herself from the detection of strangers, but also to keep her from detecting them. She had nightmares at times, of her former Master capturing her again and torturing her because she didn't comply with whatever his wishes were, only to wake up with a start and find herself alone in her bed. There were times when she could still feel that painful collar around her neck. Most of the scars from that were gone now, though make up and her long hair hid the rest of it.

Was this some kind of a test? But what purpose did they have? What path was she supposed to follow? As far as she knew, she was just supposed to rule. And right now she was.

She smiled as [member="Veiere Arenais"] approved of the picnic lunch. Kay flinched away a bit as he nudged her, but only to reach over and try to tickle his ribs a little. "If I had a violinist, then we wouldn't be alone...Nature will be our music." She led him over to the blanket and knelt down on it by the basket. Already she was opening it and taking out the small platters of food, placing them down in front of them and removing the lids. There were sandwiches, fruits and veggies, just about every food group. She wasn't sure what he'd be hungry for, so there was a bit of everything in there. "No need to eat it all. I'm not sure how hungry you are after your journey...and I don't quite know your eating habits yet..."

"This is true..." Veiere chuckled at her retort over the proposed musician, the humor between them was a welcome change, the flight back had been tense and between he and Kay, things were so often so natural; no need to hide the people they were from one another to save face for the public, he was glad to be back with her again. [member="Lady Kay"] seemed to have been questioning his eating habits however? Did she plan to cook for him often? The thought was a little awkward, he doubted she need cook for anyone in her position let alone go to such a fuss for he when he himself was so accustomed to living and providing his own way. "Nonsense..." he remarked in quiet jest, "You've outdone yourself with all of this...".

Truth be told, this might have been a first for Veiere. The prospective picnic seeming a fair bit more out of his norm than it might have been for Kay, he seated himself down atop the edge of the blanket looking over the assortment of foods and drink she'd organized with a bit of reluctance. "This is quite the...'Light lunch" He chuckled softly under his breath, glancing back at her with a playful smirk. There was a bit of everything spread across the sheet, she must've had help of some sort to organize the lot of it all just for him. "I'd pictured my return to Commenor to be somewhat more dull, really...The work that's awaiting me with the Estate...I'm going to have my hands full...", he'd not been back there in quite some time, no doubt it was laiden with cobwebs and dust, deserving of a true clean not to mention the outdoors of which he'd never finished getting to due to lack of credits. Now that he'd come back with pockets full, he might finally get to work with the private landing pad fit for the Vagabond.

"So...-Given this is a first for me..." He looked across the variety of foods before grinning to Kay a little more, "Where do we start...".

Kay-Larr

As with all of her meals, there was usually too much food served. It never went to waste though. Kay was always sure to eat all from her plate and the rest was given to the staff. Maybe they cooked so much on purpose, just so that they could have their fill too. Regardless, she always had enough and it tasted good, so that was all that mattered.

Kay looked at all of the food gathered and picked out one of the small sandwiches, placing it on a plate for him. She then gathered a handful of veggies, plopping them on the plate before handing it to him. "You can start anywhere really. This isn't a formal lunch. You're allowed to use your fingers." She grinned and then prepared her own plate, digging in right away with the first bite, just in case he was waiting for her to start.

"I'm sure that the Estate will look wonderful when you're finished. I might pop by when I have the chance, if that's okay. Some physical work can do me some good." She had grown accustomed to being Queen and the duties that came with it. Yet with [member="Veiere Arenais"] , a simple life outside of the public eye was desireable as well. She felt split between the two vastly different lifestyles, neither of which she could fully commit to.

Veiere laughed quietly under his breath as [member="Lady Kay"] assured him not to mind the formality of things regarding this days meal, he looked at her with a hint of skepticism wondering if she were still a little on edge around him, her memories still locked out to her save for those that he had shown through his eyes and their connection in the Force. On a typical day such as this, spent during the last few months he would not have found the time to enjoy such a luxury, sitting there with her in the middle of a hedge maze, gardens laiden across the base of the paths around them, the beauty of it all felt so foreign and it seemed difficult to let go of his prior tensions even in such a time as this. The estate in the hills over looking the City was but a distraction that he had made for himself in truth, something to keep him busy, to keep him occupied and focused upon now that he had the time, least he become isolated and let himself degrade in the absence of true purpose anymore. Kay however seemed enthusiastic about it and to her request, he replied simply "The estate is yours as much as it is mine, Kay...-You gave it to me in the beginning following your coronation and now that we are engaged, we don't need to live our lives separately anymore..." he wasn't inviting her to come and live with him so much as he was assuming she would be soon regardless. Between them, he didn't feel the need for boundaries when they'd walked in each others paths over the years behind them. From Alzoc Three, to the Republic and then to Commenor of which had remained his rock even when his attention had been turned elsewhere on a number of occasions, she had always been at the center of it all and so had her people, her planet. "Whether I'm there or not, you're free to make yourself at home..." He grinned some as he leaned forward to reach for a half cut Sandwich, an assortment of shaved meats and vegetables looking like a fine choice to start with all pressed between two slices of bread, to her however his eyes remained as if to drive the point home, "It's not as though I ever lock the place anyway, the only people that come up there are from your administration and that's rare in itself when you need something of me...".

Kay-Larr

Sphaera Tea Company Owner
Kay wasn't quite sure about being able to just walk into the Estate and make herself at home. It was a special place but it didn't quite feel like it was hers. She tended to feel as though she was intruding, which could be partly due to her own insecurities, plus the fact that she held some secrets from him. There was no other way fir her right now. She did it to protect [member="Veiere Arenais"] and their relationship, which was growing by the day.

She took another bite of her sandwich, chewing and swallowing first before she spoke up. "Thank you. Most don't know of the estate, so...it would be a nice refuge for me in case I needed it. And at times I need to get away from the Palace. Dr. Tesla tells me to take breaks and destress, so...having a quiet place to go away from it all would help." Kay was still having her councelling sessions and receiving bacta treatments for her wounds and scars that she'd been unable to heal herself. But Veiere didn't really know about those either.

"I'm not quite sure how this will all go, our wedding and the aftermath, I mean. How big will the ceremony be? How should we have it? You'll be King, so you'll have to be coronated, and once again you'll be placed in a position that you don't care for....I just...." She fell silent for a moment, furrowing her brows as she struggled to find the words that could better explain how she felt, even though he could probably feel it all through their connection. "....I just don't want you to regret your decision..."

"I'll be King?..."

He responded somewhat absently in how his surprise might reflect his initial feelings on the matter, the question rhetorical in itself, shot back at Kay as he looked back at her a little uncertainly. The last job he had done had gone so well...-and for all the sarcasm in that one thought, he had to suppose that Commenor was already well established, he'd helped Kay and the other ministers put in the time and work needed for the world to continue to function long before she had been removed from the throne and consumed by the Dark Side of the Force. The fact spoke true of itself that had Commenor not been ground upon a strong founding of Officials, all whom knew what was expected of them, the capital would have fallen apart at the news of Kay's abduction.

"I hadn't exactly thought about it..." He added, explaining his shock some; "Commenor doesn't require a King, you do a fine job on your own in leading this world...Along with your personnel of course..." his gaze then shifted, searching the spread for the nearest glass and pouring himself a flask of what looked to be some sort of wine. Gracious of Kay as she most often favored her tea which of course was sitting there beside it, still the moment of revelation required something with a slightly stronger touch. The wine was cool gliding down his throat, a hint of bitterness to the grape of choice, still it offered him a moment of respite where he might soon reassure her in their relationship itself; "The one certainty in this life, I've found Kay...-Is that against the odds, I've fought to stay close to you because of how I feel about you. This engagement wasn't a random act of momentary weakness. Certainly I could've chosen the time a fair better, but the feelings I have for you are by no means new to me...-I've loved you for a long time now".

"If this wedding requires my Coronation, if I must be King of Commenor in order to stand by your side, it won't deter me...-Though frankly it'd be a waste of time..." His voice faded off for a moment in skepticism over the new prospect of his second time in royal standing, "I am not fond of politics and I speak from the heart, a lot of people don't like that in others...-No filter..." He grinned a little, gesturing to himself with an amused half smirk. "So long as I have you however, I will regret nothing and you'd do well to remember that...-I know how your mind works, you put up a good front but I am something you should never feel the need to doubt. We've come to far for one another to back out now...-There's nothing I want more than to put the past behind us and move forward for Commenor's future, as well as our own".

Kay nodded a little as [member="Veiere Arenais"] began to speak. As she figured, he didn't want rule, and given his recent past, she didn't blame him. Some of the best leaders were the most reluctant. She was that way herself.

But all that changed.

Her food wasn't touched while he spoke, as she wanted to give him her full attention. In a way he poured his heart out to her, letting her know that she was the motivation behind most of his actions. And Kay wanted nothing more than to do right by him.

It wasn't until he was finished that she poured herself a bit of wine and took a small sip before speaking. "If you don't want to be King, then I won't force you, I won't make you obligated to take up the role. We'll work something out. I want to do right by you, whatever it takes." Already a proposal for their future was forming in her mind, but until she had all the details, she wanted to keep it secret for now. One of the few that she held from him. "I love you too and I think that in some ways, I always had. I know that I tried to blame you for what happened to me, but I don't anymore. It must have been horrible for you and for everyone. I don't think that I'll ever fully recover, but with you being there for me and helping me, then I'll have a chance." A chance at a good life, a chance at being stronger without needing to step on others or threaten them. Her future seemed brighter with Veiere beside her. And she didn't want to lose him.

"It's not that I don't wish to be King..." Veiere began though stopped himself, quite frankly he didn't have any interest in it but if it were to make things more difficult than they needed to be for the two to be married then he would do so anyway; "I'm simply not sure if I'm fit for the task.." He carried the subject with a certain lack of appeal, a reluctance for the subject of leadership as a whole. Since coming out of Exile he had shirked the chance for a position of leadership every chance he had been given, only to follow through with Ession and only because that was a temporary deal surrounded in the guilt of his fallen brother. Commenor stood as a world not simply important to him but vital to [member="Lady Kay"]'s place in the galaxy, she lived for the protection of these people and while she was fit for the throne, Veiere had to look at his past and recognize that the will to lead just wasn't a part of who he was. He didn't stand above people, he didn't presume himself to be better than them, even those who would call themselves his enemies Veiere would still give a chance to prove themselves wrong, it was his idealistic pacifism that had led him to fall short and why he remembered the Conclave of the Republic beyond it's flaws, he had failed to reimburse the Jedi Order of it's sentimentality in tradition...

When Kay told him that she loved him, he was glad to hear it. He hadn't been certain she did since her return from wherever Prazutis had taken her for those long months. He still only held glimpses of what she had gone through and even then they slipped through the cracks with every passing day as if Kay were slowly willing him to forget, herself. That she'd agreed to the arrangement between them at all had shocked him, just as his courage to even ask all this of her when things were still so vulnerable. Every day brought about a change for them, big or small but regardless they were always on the move and rarely seemed to have time to find common ground anymore being Commenor itself. They knew each other, they could feel each other in a way far more complicated, intricate than most others could reach them, yet their lives had been consumed in their responsibility to others that with this lunch, also came a certain amount of anxiety in what their future held and whether or not they'd see many of these chances again.

"...Forget all that, talk to me about something..." Veiere spoke up again, changing the subject now as he sought to put his focus to her, curious as to what she might wish to know where much of her memory was still lost to her and she was bound to have questions. Uncertainties. "Do you still have questions around your past? Around me or anyone else ?"

[member="Veiere Arenais"] was more fit to be King than he had realized. But he was quite reluctant. Maybe she would have been the same if she hadn't of been made to take the throne the way that she did. Perhaps this was why she tended to second-guess herself at times, instead of being 100% certain. Still, it made the choice for her wedding present for him all the easier.

He changed the topic, focusing on herself. Kay didn't always like the focus to be on herself, for usually it would stray to topics that she didn't want to touch upon. She picked up a bit of fruit and plopped it into her mouth, chewing as she thought of how best to answer him. "I still have memories lost to me. There are messages from some that I don't remember. Who is Ghorua? And James? And Gray? I didn't have a lot of boyfriends, did I?..." She just couldn't imagine herself being....well, loose. But just because she couldn't remember, it didn't mean that nothing had happened. Her eyes focused on Veiere's. Hopefully he'd know.

"[member="Ghorua the Shark"], he was a trusted companion of yours, a fiercly loyal friend from what little you had told me. I didn't know him too well myself though he was on Commenor the day of your return, last I heard he was searching for Einon. We never met back up following our personal meeting though I was there with him and [member="Ryn'Dhal"] before hand...", Veiere never had determined just what had become of Ghorua though with Commenor in such a state of affairs at the time, it made sense that Ghorua had made himself scarce. Ironic that Einon had not been heard from since either. "[member="James Justice"] and [member="Gray Raxis"] however were what you had considered to be family from a Mandalorian lineage, a clan or some such that I believe Gray himself led. I'm not sure of James' part in it all...-From memory, you had some falling out with them over an incident involving the current Mandalore at the time, I believe you might have opposed a movement of theirs that would've resulted in a genocide of some sort...".

On the subject of boyfriends, Veiere frowned to himself, his gaze shifting as he seemed reluctant to discuss the following topic. "You had many that sought you out, none that you accepted, thankfully...", with the words also came the expressed feeling of jealousy and unease, tension that would have somewhat easily passed on through their connection in the force. Of course, in response to realizing this, he looked back at her with something of a foolish smirk, "I will admit that I...-Made my presence known more often than not, whether or not you realized why at the time, I think might have passed you by...". Viktor came to mind specifically, the one from Avalonia of the First Order, Veiere hadn't let it become obvious though sitting through that dinner despite discussing diplomacy between governments, had been particularly uncomfortable. When Kay told him that she'd been invited to the ball of theirs much later, Veiere hadn't had the moral reason to encourage her to decline. Because of that, he'd agreed instead to focus on security matters in the background, so not to have to watch [member="Lady Kay"] dance with another.

Kay nodded as she listened to [member="Veiere Arenais"] tell her of those who's memories of people that she couldn't recollect. It seemed that none of them dared to approach her now and she wondered if maybe that was for the best. Maybe they had changed too and she wouldn't like them that much.

She caught his frown, and his feelings pass through their bond. Kay half smiled to herself as he mentioned how she didn't notice his motives for choosing to be near her. She knew that some things passed her by as there was too much going on in her mind. That and there was politics. "Well I'm with you now, for always. So you needn't worry."

Something else came to mind, however. Something important. No doubt that Veiere could feel the shift in her. "Do you remember me telling you of my adopted children and how they were lost? Well....one of them has found me. I had unknowingly hired him to join my staff." Her eyes went directly to his. She was worried as to how he was going to react.

The matter of her children had only come up once before, it was a discussion that was well close to her heart though too an anxious one as thinking of them had always led to her thinking back on her late husband to which Veiere had always been self conscious and treading lightly around, never wanting to impose on that part of her life as it was a significant time for her where he told himself he had no place in mediating. It was a place of acceptance, that she had loved this man before his time with her, and she had lost him to the actions of the Sith just as he had lost the family he had held close to his heart within the Enclave of Svivren, it was something to respect and to give room to breath, never a place of jealousy nor envy.

"You told me that you had sent them off for their protection...-That you did not know where...".

Veiere had struggled to understand the decision that she had explained to him aboard the Free Lady that evening, he hadn't understood the need to send her children away when it seemed more likely to him that protecting them meant keeping them close, under her watch. Then again, she didn't have the experience that Veiere himself had, she had been broken by loss and feared the safety of her children, even blamed herself for it all. Had he been there at the time he would have advised against sending them away for concern that they might never know her, yet her sharing the story with him had not changed his opinion of her as he understood well the loss and grief of such things, the way that the mind can influence decisions and the fear for a loved ones safety.

"One of them has returned? They found you?"

He asked, surprise clear in the look that he shot back at her. It brought on a number of questions, most specifically in where her relationship with the child stood, how they had reacted to her and whether or not they knew of himself. How might this complicate things between them and then the obvious uncertainties; would they accept Veiere's place in their mothers life, would they like this man she had come to know or would they hold the past against him for fear that he might be taking their fathers place.

"How'd it go...?".
