Riamah
Baroness
There was a clear sense of a tired silence in the room after she finished speaking. Ra now waited on the judgement of Ferron. Whatever his choice was would decide her fate, life or death. If she were to be turned over to Wolfe, her life was forfeit and she would die. There was no question in her mind on this. If he decided she was not guilty of the crime levied against her, then she would be free...at least for a time. Wolfe was like a terrier after prey. He would not give his quest to destroy her.
When the knock happened and Ferron motioned for her to wait a moment, Ra did just that. When he left her without saying anything, it raised some concern in her. It seemed he had made his decision which was enforced when the guards entered the room. In saying they would restrain her if she attempted to leave, her fate felt decided. If this situation had happened not long ago, she would have reacted differently. Ra had changed though.
She sat at the table calmly with her arms crossed, taking sips of that water when she was thirsty and setting the glass back down. Silence didn't reign forever though and voices were heard on the security chief's communicator. Not your everyday orders going back and forth, no this was conversation between Ferron and the Shrouded Republic's contact. A man she had never met personally, but Ra had not been in the military with them.
As the conversation continued her view on Ferron changed. He had indeed decided her fate, but it wasn't what she expected. Instead of planning on turning her over to the justice Wolfe desired, he placed her under his protection. He was right in saying death could come to them at any time, any given moment...even getting out of bed was dangerous.
The communication continued for another few minutes, but Ra remained seated. With the knowledge this room was the safest in the ship and the warning of restraint kept her in place. She wasn't afraid of the guards, Ra could have disposed of them easily enough. That was not and never was her nature though. To kill without a clear need, in what could be seen of as cold blood and murder...that was not the type of person Ra was.
One thing she did know was the laws of the Shrouded Republic were not the laws of the Galaxy. Ferron agreed with her on that and stood his ground against them. By doing that, he was just as much an enemy of Wolfe now. Another thing Ra realized was she was in debt to Ferron and she had no idea how to pay that back. Right now though, she stayed in that room surrounded by his guards and waited.
