Private Unwanted Passengers

ᴛʜᴇ ɢɪʀʟ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴏʟᴅᴇɴ ɢᴜɴ

Tae'l looked up as the lights flickered all across the civilian starliner, the telltale sign of ion weaponry visible outside the viewport as a blue current traveled over it's surface for a moment. The engine stopped humming, and the ship began to drift. She clutched the BBU-pod to her chest tightly as the passengers murmured and gasped in panic, but the seemingly human child inside continued sleeping, not a worry in her little black haired head as she continued floating their inside the anti-gravity pod.

Strapping the child's life support pod to her chest, the Mandalorian would then leave her seat to peer outside, catching only the briefest glimpse of a small, circular ship outside. She couldn't tell the model exactly, but the presence of an identified craft so soon after a power loss could only mean one thing: Pirates.

A loud ✱THUD✱ drew her attention to the rear of the economy-class passenger area where she had been staying, and to her horror, an ominous glow began to emanate from the wall! Seconds later, the whole wall fell to the floor, and several Weequay pirates entered with guns, causing passengers to scream as the first few were grabbed and lined up against the wall. But even worse, one turned her way and sneered.

"There she is!" He proclaimed, and all hell broke loose as they began to open fire.

Tae'l spun to place her armored back between the child and incoming fire, the gleaming backplate made of lazer reflective pure beskar bouncing a round into the ceiling with a shower of sparks, another grazing Dragonsnake hide covering her lekku, leaving a singed glow despite missing the skin. She was carrying none of her usual weaponry save those she could easily hide, none of which could be used at this range. So instead, she dove into the next passenger area and smashed the door controls with her fist to lock it in place.

When she looked down, the commotion had woken the baby, who looked up at her with little red eyes that seemed so wide. Then the little girl began crying, muffled by the armored life support tank.

"Shh! shhh! I've got you, I've still got you"

Without any jamming or sensor-scrambling equipment activated, Valery's X-wing jumped into the system to make herself known to friend and foe. The distress call had been loud and clear — a pirate ship had disabled and boarded a starliner. Nothing unusual in these parts of the Galaxy, but they had unknowingly chosen the worst possible day to make their move, and she wanted to tell them just that. On her way back to Coruscant from one assignment, Valery had picked up on the emergency call for help, and chosen to respond.

Pirates were typically not equipped and enthusiastic to deal with Jedi.

<Docking now,> Valery spoke through her comms to whoever was listening from the control room of the starliner. The Jedi Master's X-wing then shifted to using maneuvering thrusters only, and magnetically locked itself to the ship, not far away from the compartment where the pirates had entered. Once attached, Valery waited, knowing some of the pirates would be scrambling towards her, hoping to take down the 'intruder'.

By the time the blast doors opened inside the ship, and a group of pirates were waiting for someone to appear, they instead saw nothing but a little smoke entering the room. They looked at each other after noticing the entry point where the X-wing had attached itself, clearly confused that nobody was there. Had the X-wing been on auto-pilot or was the pilot still inside?

The sudden hiss of a lightsaber igniting behind them gave them an unexpected answer.

"I suggest you all put down your weapons."

ᴛʜᴇ ɢɪʀʟ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴏʟᴅᴇɴ ɢᴜɴ

The sudden arrival of an X-wing in their AO forced the pirates to divert their attention for but a moment, giving Tae'l time to plan her next move. She could hear the feint and broken chatter on open channels, first from a desperate pilot, then a loud and clear announcement from a docking responder, clearly unaffected by any form of ion weaponry. This must mean that the pirates were also docked to the Starliner, and therefore immobile.

Perhaps she could steal their ship...?

First she would need to retrieve her primary weapons from the cargo hold, likely on the next floor down where other important rooms like the kitchens and life support were kept.

Before she could remember how to get their however, that eerie glow returned and all her plans were put on hold as pirates took a plasma cutter to the door, one half of the group stacking up on one side, and the other half moving towards the docking X-wing. She couldn't see what was happening, but knew this diversion would even the odds for herself and the child. And so she put a hand over the tank in an attempt to cover the child's eyes, and took position next to the door.

When the first pirate entered, she deployed her otherwise hidden wristblades, the jagged blades dripped chrome fluid before suddenly hardening as she swung upwards in a deadly uppercut, entering the man's skull from below the jaw as he twitched, then went limp as Tae'l retracted the blades.
When the others began rushing the door, she was forced to use both hands, one to wrestle the second's gun away with the enhanced strength of her crushgaunt and then spin him around to use as a meatshield. When he fell to a burst of blaster fire from his own comrades, Tae'l then used her left gauntlet to project a small deflector shield that quickly extended to cover her entire torso and thus the pod-bound baby strapped to her chest.

That was when she went on the offensive, marching forward with her blades, jerking the shield forward to strike down shots as the came. One didn't need the force to know she was livid.

Behind the firing pirates, she could see a strange amethyst glow as a woman ordered the other group to surrender their weapons. Tae'l was too focused on her own targets to see, but their morale was breaking, and fear resounded through the force.

"Grab 'em! haul 'em back to the ship" One of them ordered, and the those not preoccupied by the vengeful Mandalorian leveled their weapons on the passengers previously lined up against the wall, a few of which were grabbed to be used as living shields.

"We just want our man back. This don't have to be ugly, aye?" He glanced to the chaos at the opposite end, then to Valery.

He knew they needed more time...

One.

Two.

Three.

Four...

Valery's eyes shifted from one pirate to another, taking note of their weapons and positioning. Her sudden appearance had caused a tremor of fear in the Force, and driven them to take action. The only thing they could come up with in the heat of the moment was to take hostages. To endanger the lives of innocents to try and achieve their goals. Already, they had risked all these lives by disabling the starliner, and now they wanted her to take a step back?

It wasn't going to happen.

"Last chance to surrender," Valery said as her hand snapped into a fist, commanding the Force to crush their rifles and pistols in an instant. Valery's eyes met theirs, burning with an aura many did not expect from a Jedi. She wasn't going to cause harm if she could help it, but the look in her eyes still had something intimidating about them.

"Hurt these people, and I will have to stop you." She was carefully watching, readying herself for one of them to make a move. If they even tried to attack or subdue any of these civilians, she'd be ready to toss them around with the Force and make them regret ever coming here.

She wasn't playing games.

ᴛʜᴇ ɢɪʀʟ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴏʟᴅᴇɴ ɢᴜɴ

Tae'l grit her teeth as the blaster fire intensified, one round striking her leg where one of the few gaps in her heavy armor could be found, dropping her to one knee as she hissed.

Thinking they had the advantage, the remaining pirates not preoccupied with the Jedi were quick to rush the downed Mandalorian. One tried to kick her shield out of the way, failing to realize that it was a one-way shield as Tae'l reached through it, her wrist blades going right through the man's unarmored foot. This presented a problem however as the blades were seemingly stuck, causing an awkward tussle between herself- trying to yank the blades free- and the first pirate who was now screaming in pain while trying desperately to keep his balance on one foot, dropping his blaster so he could grab a nearby seat.

The wild commotion prevented the other pirate from getting a clean shot, but did little to alleviate the threat as he rapidly approached. Seeing that her blades were going nowhere, Tae'l retracted the blades back into their gauntlet, returning the programable metal to it's liquid state and freeing her previously trapped crush gaunt to punch the second pirate in the chest.

All this movement had been powering the built in kinetite generator, releasing a concussive blast so powerful that it sent the man flying past the Jedi only moments after she had crushed all remaining weaponry.

At this point the uninjured pirates simply ran for it trying to re-enter their own ship in a panic, with the exception of their leader who was within the Jedi's reach and feared whatever manner of retaliation the lightsaber wielding woman might have in store should he attempt to evade justice.

Honestly he held some hope that the Jedi would show mercy where the approaching Mandalorian would not...

Tae'l was limping when she approached, still shielding the crying child in one arm, but pointing some kind of gauntlet weaponry at the now surrendering pirate. Her breaths were labored, sounding more like animalistic growling than anything else, but she still had sense to keep this mystery Jedi out of her line of fire.

"We... have to... stop meeting like this...!" She hissed at the man between breaths.

While the sight of someone flying through the air was quite interesting, Valery forced herself to focus on the pirates still in front of her. With their weapons crushed, most immediately turned around and ran, likely never to be seen again. If she had more back-up, perhaps she could have stopped and apprehended them, but she had no such manpower. Her priority was on capturing their leader and ensuring the safety of the starliner's crew and passengers.

Luckily, the leader of these pirates didn't run.

"Put down your weapons and I will not harm you," Valery promised, and her body language conveyed the same message. She wasn't in an aggressive stance and her lightsabers were lowered. At least, until Tae'l Vizsla Tae'l Vizsla appeared, ready to finish off even this surrendering pirate. Valery was quick to place herself between the two and held up a hand, "Wait, don't kill him," she said, her voice steady and clear.

"He's surrendering and worth way more alive." She wanted him to be questioned, hoping he'd have information about other pirate ships or groups out there. "You're also injured, so please, sit down and let me take a look." If not for herself, then for the sake of her child. If she bled out or made things worse, the kid would be on its own.

ᴛʜᴇ ɢɪʀʟ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴏʟᴅᴇɴ ɢᴜɴ

Tae'l almost didn't acknowledge the Jedi, the only indicator that she heard the woman being that whatever gauntlet weaponry had been pointed at the pirate, which she held remarkably steady for someone so worked up, did not immediately fire. Even the her thoughts and emotional footprint in the force seemed hidden behind the silvery mask, which slowly turned to face the Jedi as her breathing slowed.

"Make sure he stays put this time."

Then she lowered the gauntlet, letting her hand fall limply at her side as she looked for an empty, undamaged seat. A quick glance at her leg told the Mandalorian that this exhaustion was more to do with her sleep than injury, no thanks to the child cooing inside the pod right now. She would never wish accelerated growth on anyone, but she could tell that her parents had gotten off easy by creating her in a lab. Raising a child was perhaps the hardest battle she'd ever fought, but she was determined to see it through to the end.

"Ya know, this is the third time a Jedi has asked to look me over. If I didn't know any better-"

The baby cut her off mid sentence, groaning hungrily. It was that time again and Tae'l would have gotten to it sooner if not for the blasted pirates, so she was quick to snatch up one of the little tubes that connected to the pod, flipping a few switches to begin feeding the baby a sort of nutrient mix which they happily suckled out of the hose. It was less hands on than Tae'l would have liked, but she couldn't allow herself to risk the child by removing them from the armored pod at a time like this.

"I got Jellyfruit and Lamta mix just for you, Ad'ika"

It wasn't until the child was satisfied that she would take a glance at her own injury, noting the partially burnt fabric and infernal stinging sensation in her leg. She'd been shot enough times to know a blaster burn from a cut or bullet wound, and thankfully these common pirates used cheap tibanna gas that wouldn't burn deep as what she was used to using. Some Bacta spray from her pouch should do the trick, although it was difficult to reach around the pod as it was strapped to her shin-guard.

"Hey uh... could you reach that for me?"

"He won't do a thing," Valery promised, not just for the woman's own sake, but for her child as well. Valery was particularly protective of little ones, being a mother herself, so there was absolutely no way that this pirate would do anything to endanger the kid. The look in Valery's eyes conveyed that message to the pirate as well, who didn't move a muscle after receiving quite the death glare from the Jedi Master.

An unusual sight, perhaps, but Valery wasn't taking any chances.

"I'm glad to hear the Jedi are willing to help-" Valery stopped as well once she heard the hungry little groan. Given the lack of privacy and the lingering pirate, she was glad to see that the child could be fed without having to be removed from its protective little contraption. It was luckily an item Valery never had to use before when feeding her children.

The thought of them being hunted down like this...

"You've got a cute kid," Valery said with a softer smile when the baby was happily fed. "I'm sorry you've had to go through this with them. No child and its Mother should ever be hunted down." Valery looked up into the woman's vizor and dipped her head. It wasn't as personal as looking someone in the eyes, but Valery's experience with the Mandalorians was vast and she could form some kind of connection even with the helmet on.

"Just sit still." Valery reached for the spray and some bacta patches, and unless stopped, began to remove the clothing just around the injury. "You know the drill. It'll hurt like a bit-" she stopped herself for the sake of the child and smiled sheepishly. "It'll hurt but it's not too bad." Valery held the spray over the injury and gave it a few squirts, before lightly tapping a clean piece of cloth to spread it out.

Once done, she went for the patches and got to work.

"They will be sending a ship to pick everybody up," Valery said while she patched the woman up. "Is it safe for you? Or will more come after you?"

ᴛʜᴇ ɢɪʀʟ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴏʟᴅᴇɴ ɢᴜɴ

"You've got a cute kid," Valery said with a softer smile when the baby was happily fed. "I'm sorry you've had to go through this with them. No child and its Mother should ever be hunted down."

"Yeah, poor lil girl's been through a lot but she's still smiling"

The hybrid baby looked up at Valery little red eyes that seemed vibrant even through the orange mood lighting inside their little pod. They were indeed smiling.
Tae'l however was far from happy with the situation, even if relieved to see the child's smile.

"Nothing new for Mandalorians I suppose..." She sighed in frustration. Tae'l was too young to remember the purge, but raised in it's aftermath to avenge the fallen. How far she had deviated from that purpose.

When asked to sit still, she was quicker to respond and certainly more cooperative than before, the rush of adrenaline beginning to fade with her daughter. With that slow return of her senses however came the slow pulsating of pain within the body, and admittedly she was thankful to have someone tending to it even if it still felt odd to let Aruetii so close after all this time away from her people.
"You know the drill. It'll hurt like a bit-"

"We've heard worse," She actually laughed some at the Jedi's attempt to remain 'kid friendly' despite everything, providing a needed distraction from the pain.

"But I appreciate it"

Then came the spray and patches. With bacta often being described as feeling "warm to the touch" one might think it uncomfortable when applied to burn wounds, and Tae'l just as often agreed even if it only last for a second, followed by a soothing sensation as the many microbiotics went to work.

"They will be sending a ship to pick everybody up," Valery said while she patched the woman up. "Is it safe for you? Or will more come after you?"

"Not sure..." She winced slightly as the patches were stuck to her burnt skin, then gestured to the damned pirate in the corner

"These bas- these scum have been following me since I nabbed their leader. Ambushed me over naboo and shot me down, They owe me new starfighter for that one! Had to take the kid out of daycare so we could continue our journey... home"

Things had been more difficult since then. She was exposed, to the pirates and to worse enemies whom she'd been hiding from for years now. Not to mention the budget was in shambles and her bounty hunting career was practically over until she could get a new one. No way she could bring her little girl to work like that, even if she was only taking easy jobs now, trying to scrape up enough to get them somewhere safe.

✱wince✱ just thinking about it made the twi'lek's head hurt as she grabbed the side of her helmet.

But when she did, a single drop of blood would trickle down the inside of her visor and splat against her breastplate, causing to look down in confusion. She must have missed it until now, and mistaken the pain for a headache when it was actually another wound of some sort.

"Huh... their aim might not be so bad after all...?"

"Good, a kid's smile is worth more than anything," Valery said while she playfully wiggled a finger at the little girl, showing her more motherly side. It also kept the little one distracted while she patched Tae'l up to the best of her abilities, and while the injury wasn't that severe, it always looked a lot worse. Blaster shots left nasty-looking burns and if the wound was open and bleeding, she didn't want the kid to see it.

Even if they barely understood what it meant.

"I can imagine you've heard worse, but I try not to make myself feel comfortable swearing around a wee one." She looked up from the leg that was mostly patched up, briefly glancing into Tae'ls vizor before a soft smile turned to the young girl. Valery gave her another little finger wave and gently spoke, "See? She's going to be alright. She's very tough, and so are you~" Fingers wiggled again but when Valery looked up to meet the Twi'lek's gaze, she could feel that something was off.

"Well, maybe it's best I give you two a ride home, then. A ship can be replaced, but-" She paused and followed the drop of blood with her eyes until it struck the woman's breastplate. Valery's eyes briefly widened, and she moved to at least make sure that Tae'l wasn't going to fall over or feel a sudden dizziness over a loss of blood. Sometimes, the realization of an injury sparked the moment when someone crumbled.

"Do you mind if we take off the helmet?" Valery looked at her with a smile and spoke with a soothing tone. "Just sit still and I'll take a look. We can't risk serious head injuries now, can we?" If permitted, Valery leaned in close and reached for the helmet to help the woman take it off.

For the sake of not just herself but also her child, she hoped Tae'l would allow it.

ᴛʜᴇ ɢɪʀʟ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴏʟᴅᴇɴ ɢᴜɴ

Tae'l slowly looked up at the Jedi. She had not removed her helmet in front of another living being since fleeing the Sith, with the exception of her child. Even then, she was traveling to Mandalore so that she may bathe in the living waters, to redeem herself by creed for allowing her original helmet to be taken in battle. Or at least... that's what she told herself, hoping that if she did this, her people might accept her back into the fold for the child's sake.

Though she supposed that collapsing, leaving herself and therefore her child defenseless, was even more so unforgivable.

"I..."

She looked downward with a sigh, knowing that the other passengers were behind her now, having run far away as possible from the pirates once the Jedi had disarmed them. It was just her, her child, and the mysterious Jedi who had come to help them.

"Yeah, okay..."

The sight that would greet the Jedi upon removing that helmet was perhaps not what one might expect. For all her strength, Tae'l's face was defined by soft features hazel eyes that looked away almost shamefully. Her skin was a soft lavender that was uncommon in twi'leks, accented by black tattoos that left jagged patterns along the very edges of her face and around the eyes, becoming more prominent the closer they got to her Lekku. If one looked closely, there was something in Aurebesh tattooed on the back of her neck. Numbers... CC-117.

Of course some details might go unnoticed as a wound on the side of her head would not doubt take priority. It looked worse than it really was, as the impact against her helmet during battle had ripped some of the Synth-skin, leaving a thin gash and a small amount of blood. Mostly it was the concussion that bothered her, but loose piece of artificial skin, even if imperfect in it's mimicry of real flesh, had sometimes turned heads in the past. There were no scars of course, but she had to repair the artificial coverings numerous times before.

"I uhm. I appreciate the ride, by the way"

She forced a nervous smile, her shark-like teeth and curiously blue tongue on display as she spoke. But without her enchanted helmet to block telepathy and hide her thoughts, many things the mandalorian had wished to hide beside her face were also on display. She was no force user and certainly no darksider, but there was an untapped darkness laying dormant within her still. Something deep rooted and unresolved that must have brought her out here in the first place. It wasn't the Jedi's fault, wasn't even meant for anyone in this room, just a feint ghost that clung to her being wherever she went, like a child that had seen too much.

And wanted something better for the next. The one who this Jedi waved her fingers at, the one who sometimes tried to catch that finger even through the tank. The one who kept Tae'l in check even if she did not realize.

"Yeah, okay..."

Valery let out a soft sigh of relief and gently helped the woman pull off her helmet. From an outside perspective, the typical expectation was that Mandalorians looked tough, perhaps a bit rough around the edges, and that every inch of skin showed some mark from past battles. But, much to her surprise, Tael's features were surprisingly soft and feminine — gentle and alluring in shape, color and accents of tattoos. Valery's lips curled into a smile at the sight of her, but her eyes were quick to shift up to what mattered most right now.

Setting aside the helmet, Valery brought her fingers underneath the woman's jaw to steady her head in the right position to inspect her injury. She leaned in a little closer and observed from different angles before drawing her conclusion. While not a medical expert, she could tell that it wasn't as serious as it looked.

Head wounds tended to bleed a lot, but there was no overly deep cut or hole in her skull.

"My pleasure," Valery said softly, careful not to move too much. "I'm a Mother myself, so I wouldn't be able to rest easy if I were to send you on your way with your child. Not while you're injured and being hunted down." Valery got to work to clean the wound and patch it up — it wasn't anything special but being this close to the other revealed a lot more than Tae'l might have intended. The darkness within certainly hadn't escaped the Jedi Master.

She just chose not to bring it up now.

"I can tell you care a lot about her," Valery decided to bring up instead. "I can feel that same love from her to you through the Force, though I doubt you need me to tell you that, hm?" She chuckled and withdrew from the Twi'lek's head to inspect her first aid skills.

"There, that should do it." She nodded, mostly to herself. "Do you feel dizzy or lightheaded at all?"

ᴛʜᴇ ɢɪʀʟ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴏʟᴅᴇɴ ɢᴜɴ

To say that Tae'l was unused to people touching her face would be an understatement. It was normally something she reserved for lovers and even those had been few and far between. Still, she did her best best to cooperate as the Jedi took her by the jaw to inspect her injuries, even if it came with an embarrassed glance or two. At least she didn't accidently tug the girl's sensitive lekku like the first to get her helmet off. Now that was an embarrassing night.

Thankfully the Jedi was feeling a little more talkative than herself.

She tried not to move much but couldn't help tilting her head slightly upon hearing that this woman was also a mother. Admittedly Tae'l was very ignorant of Jedi customs, but had been led to beleive that their order forbid emotional attachments whether that meant caring for a child or... making one. It wasn't just about Jedi either, the circumstances of her life had led her to be quite misinformed about a lot of things despite her apparent age.

"I can tell you care a lot about her," Valery decided to bring up instead. "I can feel that same love from her to you through the Force, though I doubt you need me to tell you that, hm?"

To this however, she was not ignorant. She could see it in the way that little Mirium smiled at her that she was at least doing better than the one who was meant to raise herself. That was all she could really ask for, and it brought on a little smile of her own in that moment.

"There, that should do it." She nodded, mostly to herself. "Do you feel dizzy or lightheaded at all?"

"Thanks. Uhm... a little bit?" She confessed "Feels a little floaty without the Beskar. Getting better though"

The Mandalorian had always been resilient despite being a little smaller than most warriors she'd encountered.
Though she was also one of the most curious.

"Hey I wanted to ask... You said you were a mother? I thought Jedi couldn't form attachments"

Tae'l remained mostly quiet while Valery assessed the injury and patched her up. She figured the Twi'lek wasn't used to feeling this exposed, especially in front of a Jedi. Let alone while she was injured and couldn't just turn away. But even without being a doctor and being trained to have good bedside manners, Valery did her best to make the woman feel comfortable. She kept talking about little things and before they knew it, she was already done.

She'd make a full recovery, but she definitely looked a bit roughened up now.

"Alright, keep the helmet off just a bit longer and once you feel good, you can put it back on." Valery stepped back and spent a moment taking a better look at the other woman. A smile followed before she sat down and let out a sigh of relief. For a Jedi with no ability to heal others at all with the Force, she felt rather proud of the first aid skills she just used.

The smile shifted into a look of surprise at the question that followed.

"Oh, well, there was a time when Jedi were not allowed to form attachments. That hasn't been the case for a very long time, though. Some Jedi still choose not to form them, but it's a more accepted thing these days," Valery said with a warm smile. Having lived through a time when it was frowned upon, she knew better than most just how much those Jedi were missing.

"Personally, I'm very happy to have people around me who love and care about me, and who I cherish as well."

ᴛʜᴇ ɢɪʀʟ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴏʟᴅᴇɴ ɢᴜɴ

Tae'l would pout slightly upon hearing that she'd have to forgo the helmet awhile longer. Not merely because she was raised by crusaders but also because of the circumstances that led her this path. Still she said nothing about it, having always been the quietest member of her family, including her child who was too young to truly speak.

She was of course paying attention however, looking to the side at the Jedi curiously as they sat down and explained, always eager to learn new things.

It was interesting to find that her understanding of the Jedi had some merit, except that it was quite outdated. Even in Irisi' company she hadn't the time to learn their ways so well, nor did her time in the Enclave leave room to meet others of that ancient order before her supposed "death". She was in fact so poorly informed at the moment that she wondered if the two factions were still allies against the Sith.

"Personally, I'm very happy to have people around me who love and care about me, and who I cherish as well."

She smiled initially, but there was a certain melancholy hidden behind it as well.

"That sounds nice"

Tae'l couldn't help glancing at the child again, wordlessly praying that she would be worthy of the duty now placed upon her, and that her daughter would continue to smile, seeing her as a mother even as they both grew older.

"How long do you thing it will be before i'm back to my ole' self again? I need to be in top shape so I can get this one... home, or just away from where we've been"

"I'd give it a day or two, just to get some rest," Valery said, having picked up on something in the woman's eyes. The way she looked at her child perhaps betrayed that feeling. She wanted to be there for her kid and have that same feeling of family, love and affection around her. But it could be a terrifying thing, too. As wonderful as it was to be a mother, it was no easy task to raise a child, and her circumstances were especially difficult.

Valery could only hope that she wouldn't have to keep running after all of this.

Which... gave her an idea.

"Would you be opposed to staying on Coruscant for that time? I have an old apartment there that I don't use much anymore. It was big enough for a family of three, so I'm sure it'll be comfortable while you recover." She offered a smile and briefly let her gaze dip down to the little kid.

She looked so peaceful and innocent inside her protective little contraption.

"I could even show you around a little if you'd like."

ᴛʜᴇ ɢɪʀʟ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴏʟᴅᴇɴ ɢᴜɴ

"No. That's too much time sitting in one place" She said sternly, standing abruptly. It hurt even now but she didn't have two days to spend in an Inn room on some unsecured backwater in the outer rim. Not when they were being hunted by pirates and... worse. Not when she hadn't the funds to provide herself true security. With her wounds, the only option left was to keep moving, never stay long enough for them to find her.

"Would you be opposed to staying on Coruscant for that time? I have an old apartment there that I don't use much anymore. It was big enough for a family of three, so I'm sure it'll be comfortable while you recover."

"Coruscant?"

The name sent her heart racing. Too many memories, too many years spent in Level 1313. Too many bodies created by her own hand, beginning in her childhood.
All for Aloy. As with most of her regrets.

But if the Jedi was offering, then it couldn't be some shack in the middle of gang territory. Not to mention the woman was being quite hospitable, and that made her Tae'l's host. She had been raised to do many bad things, but she had also been raised to take guest and host rites very seriously. For all her vulgarity and brutish nature, she was polite in her own ways and It simply wouldn't do to so rudely decline based on the planet alone.

"If you beleive it a safe place then very well" She would bow her head respectfully

"Though if I can make one request? I need to retrieve my weapons from the cargo hold and bring them with me, though I'd never raise them in your home unless to defend it"

"The apartment is high up in a skyscraper on the surface, and it has a great view of Coruscant and even the Jedi Temple," Valery said with a smile to make it clear it was quite safe. "I'll be on Coruscant for a few days too, so unless you'd prefer to stay there with just the kid, I can also visit and be there to offer protection or just company." Otherwise, she'd be sleeping in her room at the Temple, which was spacious enough, since Council Members had bigger rooms.

But maybe her guests would feel better, knowing a Jedi was close when they were more vulnerable.

"Of course," Valery then said in response to Tae'l's request, "You can bring anything you have with you. I have some storage places, so the little one can't reach your equipment." Even a special safe if she needed it. Valery had repurchased it when her firstborn was still young.

Vera was chaotic and way too curious.

Standing up, Valery stretched her legs, her arms and rotated her body at the hips to loosen herself up, "Ready to go? I'd rather not sit around and wait for more trouble to show up."

"Oh? never spent much time on the surface" She hummed curiously. If memory served, the only time she had been on the surface was to celebrate her impending departure from the planet with Iris at a bar that one time. How things have changed since then.

"I could give Jedi company another chance. It seems only fair"

Tae'l smiled some and began double checking the pod, putting away the feeding tube in preparation to leave the star liner with this Jedi.

"Some of the equipment may need safe storage, yeah. My pistol stays with me though, even this fiendish lil thief can't get it off me"

She pointed at the child, gently poking the pod which immediately set the little girl on the task of catching that finger in her tiny little hands. She'd win one of these days, she just had to keep trying.

"Ready to go? I'd rather not sit around and wait for more trouble to show up."

"Yes, please" Tae'l looked up and began walking towards the X-wing's location, concluding her kid's finger battle for the day. They both needed the rest after such a heart racing experience.

"I'll do my best to be good company," Valery said with a smile of her own while she looked down at the kid inside the pod one more time. Soon, she'd be able to crawl around on her own in safety. First, inside Valery's apartment, but it wouldn't be long before Tae'l brought her to safety elsewhere.

To a new home, she hoped.

"Alright, you two just get some rest and we'll be there before you know it." Valery turned for her ship and guided the two inside before taking off. The Alliance was already sending help to pick up those stranded inside the starliner, and as soon as those reinforcements had arrived, Valery made the jump to Hyperspace.

Soon after, the three made it to Coruscant. With quick clearance given, Valery brought her ship down through the atmosphere and decided to take a route that'd let them see the Temple. Jedi or not, it was a remarkable structure and a very recognizable one as as well. Afterwards, she followed the assigned lanes and reached the enormous skyscraper that held thousands of apartments. One of them, a relatively small one about 3/4th of the way up, was her own.

"Alright, time to stretch the legs," Valery said after she made her landing and allowed them to head into the apartment. "Do you want anything to drink or eat?"

"Either way, make yourself at home."
