Using Dominions as Dev Thread

Pretty much as the title states.
Can you use a Faction Dominion as a dev thread for technology/ships etc?
Is there any particular rulings on this practice?

It's been done before, will likely be done again. So long as it actually has to do with whatever you're devving, you're usually good.

So, like, if your dominion is going to the mall and shopping and you want to use it for shipbuilding, you're gonna get told 'no.'

[member="Aram Kalast"] - So far as I know, it's still allowed, though at least now-a-days they are asking for links to your specific posts referring to the item being dev'd. There was/is items on the 'judging floor' now using Doms as the host for a dev thread.

They can be used for dev. Posts must be in some way relevant to the development. If a judge can't easily find them (e.g. if it's not a specific objective marked in post headers) they may well ask for specific posts. Finding the the ten relevant posts in 100+ posts is too much of an ask.

Any thread can be used as a Development Thread so long as it's relevant (eg don't just shoe horn a dominion into the Dev Thread slot because you need one and don't want to go write an entire new thread out)

There are a few things you need to ask yourself before submitting dominion posts as development.

Firstly: is what you are submitting directly related to the posts? Namedropping your submission once and then going about your business as though it doesn't exist does not help.

Secondly: could the posts reasonably be considered dev? If you're submitting a sword, but the dominion is a garden party and you mention it being at your side the whole time, that's not development.

Thirdly: have you collected links to the relevant posts and included them in the submission? Dominions, skirmishes, and invasions involve a lot of posts, and the judge probably doesn't feel like sorting through the lot of them. Chances are they'll ask you to point out the ones that matter anyway.

Hope this helps.

I think it might be worth, maybe making a rule if used as a Dev thread. That they have to list the posts that are relevant, to make it easier for the judges to judge.

[member="sabrina"] Its more so a common courtesy for the judge who will be forever in debt to you if you do so. Its hard having to search through dominions to find each specific post pertaining to the item you're deving. Judges do ask that you at least link the relevant posts or state "between posts 45 and post 80" are the devs.
