What does being a Director of Technology entail? (I have been considering making a Bothan infochant esq character)

[member="Jen"], you would be responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the Republic's technology operations, including software, medical, astrogation, cybernetics and guidance programs and system development. I'd love to see an active Research and Development department as well. Given your skills, I think this would be an interesting job for you and an excellent fit.

[member="Jack Sparrow"] Sounds cool. If it is how I think it is, I suppose it wouldn't be on Jen though. She doesn't really like governments and politics, nor do I know if she would fit the position with all her drug habits and what not.

However, I'm sure she would be all up for giving advice and overseeing some stuff as long as she remained anonymous and got a few credits out of it. That could of course be the job at its core, just with the added bonus of being kept off the book. But what do I know about government jobs.

One thing is for certain. She at least would never start wearing a business suit and attending corporate meetings.

[member="Jen"], I like the thought, but these positions really need to be filled by people who can take a public view of things and pull like-minded individuals in. Knowing what I know about you, I think you're more the kind of girl who prefers the shadows, not the spotlight. Which isn't to say that whoever takes the Director role can't contact you for some freelance work.

My initial post has been updated, as we've filled two roles. Still interested? All you need is an active character who's a member of the Galactic Republic, and a plan to use your job to help make us ever greater than we already are! Please, though, don't sign up just so you can have a fancy title. I'm really looking for people who are going to take these jobs by the horns and ride them to glory. When you apply, give me not only your qualifications, but what you plan to do if appointed.

Also, no one has tried to bribe me yet. This is both honorable and concerning.
