PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Cloaking - Due to the intricate and multi-component design of the generator, it is able to cloak a vessel into semi-transparency which obscures it from detection via sensors and the naked eye.
  • Power Cycling - Through the use of efficient and modulated power cycling devices that harness the excess energy of the ships systems, this extra energy is utilized to power the cloaking field of the starship. The duration of this can be indefinite at normal operating levels and outside of combat. Though ionic weapons and/or natural phenomena can mess with this.
WEAKNESSES
  • Heat Generation - Since the device uses excess energy created by the starship it is fitted to in order to power the cloak, it builds up high levels of heat within collected heatsinks beneath the hull that eventually need to be expelled from the ship before it cooks the crew alive.
  • No Weapons - While the capability of the device is grand in scale and vision it is limited to being a defensive component only. In order to effectively utilize the device, starship weapons must be powered down as the generator takes over their power network. Failure to do so would be catastrophic to a ships power and systems.
DESCRIPTION
The device known as the VT-01 Stealth Generator was designed and developed by Volton Technologies to give the Tsis'kaar, and wider Sith Order, a device capable of providing stealth technology to their starships. It was conceived in order to bolster the Sith Order's lack of stealth technology, giving the ability to provide better support for more clandestine activities. The device was manufactured, and still is, in limited amounts as needed. This is due to the groundbreaking utilization of starship power systems and it's somewhat unique heatsink technology.

While it utilizes other already established components for stealth based technology, the VT-01 combines them all into something unique to itself. Both the spectral and diffuser emitters provide a reduction in the starships physical presence, while the Thrust trace damper is used to conceal the ships exhaust and store it until it is able to be expelled safely after cooling. And it is here where the VT-01 took inspiration. Utilizing the same method of storing excess heat from the various active systems across a starship instead of only its engines and utilizing heatsinks to keep them stored until they are able to be expelled from said starship. This creates a blank read on sensors since no actual heat is able to be traced back to the ship. It is all stored internally.

However, this does create a obvious risk of heat mismanagement. If not managed correctly or expelled from the ships hull within a certain alloted time, these heatsinks run the risk of going overcapacity and baking the crew and other lifeforms inside. Metal or organic. Though the heatsink sizes differ, as does their capacity to store said heat, bigger ships would reach their max limit faster than smaller vessels therefore requiring anything larger than a corvette to dump their heatsinks more often. However, this technology is limited to certain sized vessels. Anything above 1,000 meter vessels would simply be too large and create too much excess heat from its systems for the current iteration of the VT-01 to manage, thereby limiting the device to Cruiser sized and under.

The last part of the devices innerworkings is the cloaking aspect. Having also the capability to visually cloak the vessel it is installed upon both by sensors and by the naked eye. It simply uses a upgraded cloaking device that projects along the hull of the vessel. Which provides said vessel with unimprecendeted stealth while sacrificing some defense and offense. Indeed, the one drawkback to the VT-01 besides it's heating build up over time is the requirement that weapons be powered down to instead actively link the device into the starships systems. Any Captain would therefore need to power down the device and reveal themselves, or find other physical ways of doing so, before having to power up their weapons. The time this takes to do so depends on the size of the starship and the efficiency of it's power system.

To conclude; The VT-01 is a device capable of linking into a starships weapons system and utilizes excess power to cloak the vessel both visually and from sensors. The heat generated is then stored within heatsinks under the hull to keep it's energy signature practically null. This heat must eventually be expelled before cooking everything on the interior. To utilize offensive power, the stealth generator must first be powered off and said power restored to the starships weapons.
