Vulpesen vs. Flint Dexen [Apprentice Tournament]

Flint Dexen

Wandering Lost Soul
(OOC: hey just out of curiosity, what color blade does your character have..?)

@Flint Dexen

Flint's kick indeed required precarious balance on his part. However, Flint wasning leaving his lightsaber simply dangling at his side when his opponent used the chance to take a slice at his leg. Using the lightsaber that had remained on his right hand, Flint quickly used his wrist to clash his cyan blade against the other apprentice's, several inches away from his legs.

Flint allowed the apprentice the chance to spin away from the position at the edge of the ring. It was now time for Flint to really show off his lightsaber skils. Moving forward once more, the apprentice made one slash after another, starting with a vertical slash quickly followed by a horizontal slash, and so on, with a rather unpredictable patter. His power behind each stroke differed as well, and was Flint's method of conserving energy while at the same time making more effective attacks. Flint drove forward with his attacks, not allowing his opponent much opening for counter-attack.

(OOC: Green)
Vulpesen resumed his backpedaling as he had in the beginning of the match, keeping both himself and his opponent near the circle's edge. His light saber rose when necessary to deflect the occasional slash that might have gotten too close, but he generally kept to his retreat, scanning for weaknesses. Now he had fully assessed his opponent. Every move had been remembered and every quirk kept in mind. Vulpesen hated repeated failures. This time, he intended to make it count.

Flint noticed that his opponent seemed to be now more concerned in retreating backwards than in actually deflecting his strikes. Allowing his feet to be apart as same as his shoulder length, Flint kept up a steady stance in which he gave his opponent little time to make a direct counter-attack. His attacks would be close enough in range so as that if needed, his blade would easily come to his aid in defense if called for.

Vulpesen kept his advance steady and simple for a long minute. He remembered when he had first entered the temples. He had been scolded for his impatience and had since worked on learning to control his rashness. It worked to some degree as a minute was longer than Vulpesen could usually wait for an attack. Of course it helped that he was moving the entire time.
As it was, Vulpesen finally decided to make his move. With a quick spinning side step, Vulpesen stepped to inside of the circle, to @[member="Flint Dexen"]'s right. His blade made a quick slash from the left while Vulpesen's freehand pushed out, exerting the force at a close distance on Flint's right side. He had kept the move fast and efficient, hopefully keeping Flint from being able turn, jump over him and use another force counter attack as he had last time.

Flint would immiediately block the lightsaber slash attempted from the left, his cyan blade clashing with his opponent's green one as it parried away the strike. He looked as the other apprentice exerted another Force Push on his right side. However, because the move's point was to be fast and effective, it failed to be as powerful as Flint had experience last time his opponent tried to hurl him out of the circle.

The Jedi Apprentice swirled a bit to the side as the invisibile Force pushed him from the right, although he made sure that he didn't lose footing. Skidding slightly backwards and spinning on the spot due to the exerted Force, Flint used it as an opportunity to make another series of blade strikes aimed at his opponent while his opponent's own Force Push propelled this spinning attack.

Using the block to bounce his blade back, Vulpesen brought his hilt back into his hand to brace against against the powerful slash. It made him budge, but his position only brought him deepr into the safeness of the circle, something he couldn't say for @[member="Flint Dexen"], who would then be hit by another force push. Vulpesen would move him out inch by inch if he had to. Despite his fervor, Vulpesen kept the earlier tactics in mind and kept himself ready incase Flint would try to jump over his head again.

Flint, when he ran out of his energy propelling him, stopped his fury of attacks then proceeded on a more wise tactic. He first made a few sharp angled strikes using his wrists, the attacks aimed at his opponent's upper-body and chest.

Slowly, Flint attacked his opponent, trying to make his each combination of attacks more unpredictable than the last. While he did so, he made sure to inch around the perimeters of the circle, staying as far away from the circle boundaries as possible.

Vulpesen leaped away from the counter attacks, batting one away with a wide sweep which was immediately followed by a force enhanced backflip. His opponents resilience was becoming annoying and Vulpesen was starting to wonder when he would tire out from his acrobatic maneuvers. Upon touching the ground, Vulpesen stood to his feet and turned sideways to flint, assuming the basic makashi stance in the middle of the ring.

It was admirable the fact that the several Force Pushes made by his opponent had not exhausted him by that point. Flint, as he battled away with his cyan blade flashing across the arena, recalled what a good decision it had been to train in keeping up his stamina.

Flint gazed at his opponent back-flip to position himself at the center of the circle. He quickly moved forward as well, refusing to lose any more ground that he had to. The Jedi Apprentice moved forward and landed two vertical hits, followed steadily by a thrust maneuver aimed at his opponen't chest.

Vulepsen quickly moved to block the first vertical strike, then threw his arm down to block the second strike. During the saber strike, Vulpesen sidestepped, keeping his lightsaber infront of him to keep the blade away. As the blade moved infront of him, Vulpesen reached out and grabbed his opponents arm and pulled it forward, using his opponent's momentum against him as my lightsaber flicked and slashed at @[member="Flint Dexen"]'s back.

Flint let out a frustrated sigh as his thrust maneuver utterly failed and his blade thrusted forward just to slice through empty air. He watched the other apprentice grab his arms, and saw the quick incoming slash at his back. He had to admit, this apprentice was a credible duelist. However Flint's arm also shot out, and his lightsaber-free left hand pushed to stop his opponent's lightsaber from hitting his back, while his right hand with the lightsaber worked furiousely to hit his opponent with the lightsaber.

Vulpesen would growl at his opponents improvised maneuvers but would quickly adapt. Using his continued hold on @[member="Flint Dexen"]'s arm, he would bring his arm up behind Dexen, bringing his saber hand with it into an awkward angle in which the blade would be able to move anywhere but downward while the right hand was being taken up by Vulpesen's left, Vulpesen would use his right leg to kick Dexen's arm into the air, with the double intent of taking down some dexterity due to pain. This tactic left Dexen with both hands out of reach and his back exposed to the follow up slash. The tactic may have been a bit rough but traditional Makashi simple wouldn't work for his situation. Dexen was too evenly matched, and Vulpesen had long ago realized that in such situations, an offhand tactic would often serve the best results.

It was obvious that the two Jedi Apprentices were even matched. At that point in time, however, Flint's opponent seemed to have the upper hand. The kick jolted away Flint's lightsaber-free hand, and he resisted the urge to grip his hand from pain. However, in his eagerness to expose Flint's back to his own attack, his opponent seemed to have forgotten for a second that Flint had his saber as well.

Twisting his wrist in an awkward but a neccessary angle, Flint blocked any incoming attacks to his back. Then quickly whirling around on the spot, Flint's cyan blade clashed against his opponent's green blade as he regained footing and steadied himself back himself into basic Shii-Cho position.

Upon the clash of blade's Vulpesen stamped his foot down to regain balance before his opponent, then pressed his advantage immediately, using a combination of a slice from the left towards the mid torso then a downward diagonal from the right shoulder which spun into a lunge towards @Flint Dexen's chest followed by a quick down ward's chop. The moves started fast to keep Flint off balance, and continued with their ferocity, aiming to keep the other padawan from having a chance to gain his composure. Still, Vulpesen kept himself prepared for a quick force push to stunt any strikes that might slip through the heavy offensive.

Flint recognized the fact that his opponent was a very skilled duelist. His wrist was hurting almost quite severly from the awkward angle in which he had to defend the last attack, so he switched over to using his other hand in using his lightsaber. Thankfully, Flint was ambidextrous.

The heavy and fast offensive kept Flint effectively off-balance. Flint barely managed to dodge or otherwise block the furious blows that were thrown at him. He tried his best to use the least type of energy in defending, although he made sure no parry was too flimsy to be easily pushed back at him. All he could do at the moment was to hang on and wait until his opponent's attacks slowed the slightest before making any counter offense.

Vulpese continued his attack, using the force to conserve his energy. As the blade strikes continued to strike randomly, Vulpesen made sure to telegraph each move, swinging where they were expected to hit. However, after about 5 combinations, Vulpesen brought down a vertical slash knowing that most duelist would instinctively react by lifting their blade to a an upward block. As a duelist, Vulpesen had many tricks. This was one of his favorites. As the blade came crashing down, Vulpesen never extended the blade to execute the real slash as would normally be expected. Instead, he brought the pommel to his left hand which then pushed off into a low belly lunge, expecting to catch @[member="Flint Dexen"] off guard as he would likely have blocked in the commonsense way Vulpesen had predicted. Sadly for Dexen, Vulpesen was anything but commonsense, and he loved a good feint.

Flint blocked the incoming attacks, parrying away the incoming series of attacks. He made sure to use only the slightest of movements to block each strike, and after a while made a few side-stepping moves and dodges for more difficult combinations to parry off.

At one point, what first seemed like a vertical strike was made by his opponent, and as Flint raised his cyan blade to block the attack, the other apprentice suddenly turned it into a lower jab unlike the expected vertical slice. Flint quickly raised his elbow, and allowed his blade to point downwards to ward off the tricky maneuver just in time.

Vulpesen refused to even think about the actions. They happened, he moved on. As the blades connected, Vulpesen once again reached up to snatch Flint's right arm. However this time, he simply got closer to Flint's front, holding his opponent's hand far in front of him as he reversed his grip on his own lightsaber which was then plunged behind him, aiming at Flint's torso which was now inches away from Vulpesen's back. All joking was gone now. Vulpesen was determined to win, and he was willing to pin Flint to the ground to do so.

As their blades clashed, Flint saw at once what his opponent was doing. One does not simply have his hand 'snatched' away, especially when it happened just less than a minute ago. Flint had learned from the experience, and he quickly reached out with his free hand and grabbed the other apprentice's hand before it could grab his hand that gripped the lightsaber, then used his lightsaber to defend against Vulpesent's strike at his torso.

Flint, after parrying off the attack, gave a quick kick at his opponent before sending a short Force Push at his opponent.

Vulpesen quickly spun to the right to avoid the kick then reached up to move @Flint Dexen's arm into the air with a simple palm punch, sending his force push skyward as he took a short lunge at Flints stomach, keeping himself incredibly close to his opponent. Vulpesen had to keep moving. It was the way he had been trained. "A soldier who moves, his valor he proves. He who stands still, is a target to kill." He mumbled the words unconsciously, he had been taught by his master on Amar so that he could go wherever he needed in his quest for knowledge in the force. His lessons had served him well throughout all his life, and he was sure that they would serve him now as well.
