Wake Up...Wake Up (Open)

It pleased Matteus that Yuri was slowing starting to open up to him. He took another bite of the stolen fruit.

The child had a tragic backstory, no way around that. Beaten by his parents, who he later killed. "S-sorry to hear that."

He caught a smile off the boy's revealed face, causing him to smile.

"So this man who speaks to you.. What do you know about him?"

"It's ok I guess..." Yuri said before taking another bite...

The man asked what are the voices like.

"The man he wants me to kill you...he wants anger to flow through me...he wants to control me...but I won't let it. Or at least I will try." He said before simply throwing the fruit on the ground.

"This mask, it not only hides my scar and missing eye but it makes the voices louder...my fears bigger...the reason why I wear it is because feel safer in it...it gives me comfort, even with the fear.

"You'll try?!" Matteus was beside himself. He took a moment or too, finishing off the fruit and chucking it off to the side.

"That's not good enough for me, pal." His face had turned into a scowl, frustrated that he had to deal with someone who might want to kill him.

"Find your comfort somewhere else. It's clear that mask is causing you to go crazy." He said, hoping he didn't cross any lines.

"F-find my comfort somewhere else..." he trailed off. He looked at the man.

"It would be hard, I am vulnerable to feel Judgment without my mask, I am lost without my mask...it would be tough.

"You must learn to be tough, Yuri. If there is one thing my father taught me, it was to never back down." What Matteus had said was a complete lie. His father was constantly on the run from bounties on his head. It was Matteus' only hope in fixing the boy though.

Trying to move away from the dark conversation, he grinned. "Got any hobbies?"

"I-I'll try that one day." He said softly.

The man asked if he had any hobbies, Yuri actually didn't.

"No, I usually sit alone in silence.

It hurt Matteus to know that there was a boy without anything or anyone to rely on. "I have one." He started to lead them towards a cantina. "A lot of people would say my hobby is drinking.. and they're probably right." Matteus shrugged. "So maybe I have two. The other is a little bit more rewarding. It's a card game, called Pazaak. Maybe you've heard of it?" He assumed the boy would answer with a blunt no, seeing as how he had little to no knowledge about anything that goes on.

"Come on, this way." He lead them into the cantina, where the lowest members of society could be found. Granted, there was likely a nobleman or two in their presence, but even they couldn't escape the cantina's dirty grasp. "Oh! Almost forgot, you need a deck." He reached into his pocket, pulling out two decks. "I'll let you have my backup deck. Won't need it today." Matteus smiled. The deck he gave Yuri was completely fine. However, his deck was loaded, and he was sure to cheat. It was something that he had been taught by his father.
