CORUSCANT

Surrounded on all sides. Both the main entrances and those below.

The Mandalorian had felt and seen all the blasters trained on him and his fellows. It became a difficult situation, that much was true, and in silence Fett continued to hold his aim on a lone Senator that stood there in fear. Even as the T-visor wandered to either side and to the above. Terror had met their alien features, but after several seconds of consideration had Fett conceded to some extent and lowered his blaster into the holster and stood there, as if a statue, in the centre. Encased in that thick hide of armour, he remained confident of his survival to some extent, should some effort to flee be made somehow. Similar to how that Senator fled now.

It was that somehow that became the real concern.

"How about a deal instead." He crossed his wrists at his waist, the subtle touch on his vambrace was difficult to notice. "I leave here a free man, Marshall; best make it worthwhile."

Fett was a man that honoured his word to his clients, but what was that honour worth if he died in an effort to maintain it? Or worse yet, lost his fabled armour?

Assisting Ryv with rescuing Auteme and Kirie

Faith could faintly hear the mutterings from Ryv Ryv below, the purring of the pod, the exchanges happening all round her. She could only hear whispers of words fuzzy as they were. She looked down to see there were others whose names were unknown Lirka Ka Lirka Ka she could hear one name that immediately drew her back to where Jax Thio Jax Thio was, was it Koda Fett Koda Fett that had initiated all this chaos and take shots at Auteme Auteme and Kirie Kirie .

So much going on, it was deafening.

For a moment the pod sputtered, what the feth? She looked down...it was losing energy and needed a charge. Whoever had used it last had failed to properly set it for charging. This irritated her slightly it was like taking back a holo disc that someone failed to clean off. How hard was it to do so? Really?!

The pod dropped a bit further until she was just above Ryv Ryv , they had lucked out so far no one had taken shots at them. "I'll turn it and then make the final drop " She looked at him again "Are you alright?" She reduced the power once more dropping slowly down.

Marshalls were making their way around the pods narrowing their distance to the Mandalorian who was unmistakable in that armor, and because of the armor they would know who he was always.

Always looking back to see where he was at and just how close she was to him.

"How about a counter offer?" Jax asked raising his Lightsaber. "How about you just lay down your weapons, place your hands in the air and I'll put in a good word to the Jedi Council and the Chancellor to make sure that you will be placed in prison for only 2 decades instead of life?"

Okay, it wasn't a really a good offer to the Bounty Hunter but Koda wasn't leaving here a free man. He wasn't exactly in a position to negotiate. "Now come on Koda," Jax said. "Let's end this now while my offer still stands.

His fist punched the throat of a Senate Guard, overwhelmed by the close quarter techniques from Amun as the guard had no answer to such fury. Immediately the guard began to choke, gasping for air as he fell on his knees. His blaster rifle fell from his hands which Amun picked up and fired at the helpless guard. If his punch didn’t kill, then the blaster bolts would.

Time was running up, and it was announced by a multitude of boots running throughout the Senate. Boots belonging to the Senate Guard and other security agencies, establishing a perimeter as best as they could and encircle on the Hunters. Getting out would be hell, but there might be a chance to limit their risks. A bargaining chip, a hostage of some sort. One of high value to allow him and his peers to escape unscathed.

There were still Senators running about, maybe a few if most had filtered out of the Senate. That was there ticket out of here.

He came to a vacant pod, quickly observing the situation. There was Koda and facing a Jedi; another angle was a mercenary trying to persuade another Jedi with two limp bodies on his person; and then there was a Senator alone in a pod reaching out to Ryv.

Bullseye.

With his superhuman athletic abilities, he began to jump from one pod to another until he would make a daring leap towards Faith Organa Faith Organa . In his leap, he would drop a flashbang where Koda was as an attempt to disorient the Jedi, Jax Thio Jax Thio . If everything went right, they would have leverage to negotiate with.

Susanna made her way forward cautiously, until she was stopped at the front of the line of Marshals and Guards, still a good distance from the bounty hunter at the centre of the room. Her radio crackled, informing her that the Coruscant Defence Force had been mobilised, and were en route to the Senate buildings to lock them down. The net was closing.

Jax Thio Jax Thio argued with Fett beside her. Susanna shot him a glance. He was a worthy ally in this fight, but things needed to be handled with care.

“We can work something out, Fett, come to an understanding." said Susanna. "But only if you work with us. Only if you put your weapons down and we take you in. Otherwise, this only ends one way.

She stepped forward cautiously, tapping the voice amplifier on her wrist to disable it. She addressed Fett so only those around her could hear.

“We can arrange immunity, a deal for information leading to the real perpetrators. Believe me, that’s the best chance you’re ever going to get.”

Susanna levelled her blaster, guarded.

“This isn’t like a contract on some smuggler or fine dodger. Even if you somehow got out of here, there’s no letting this go. You're the most wanted man in the Alliance. It only ends with you in a cell. That is, unless you give us what we need.”

Susanna paused, letting the words sink in.

“You understand?”

At that moment she heard a cry as one of the bounty hunters attacked a Senate Guard above. He threw something and it clattered down beside her. Susanna stepped back, covering her face a fraction too late as the stun grenade exploded in a frenzy of light and sound and heat.

She stumbled back, blinded, shouting above the ringing in her ears.

“Do the right thing Fett, It’s time to end this!”

His chance to answer was cut short.

The Kyzuo had made his move and whether the Mandalorian was believed to be in tandem with it or not had mattered so little, the odds favoured the idea that he was, and a swarm of blaster bolts were no doubt soon to descend on him; lethal with the intent to kill, or stun... the notion held no appeal in either case. His armour could sustain the hail of blaster fire, but the same could not be said for the man underneath. His window was small, but it was there. Fett needed to act now.

In an instant, the flash near blinded all those that dared stare towards it as the devide detonated. The Marshall shielded herself from it, the mere moment of averted attention had seen the man ahead of her rush forwards with a booted foot sent towards her sternum as one hand danced across the vambrace some more - the subtle movements cast aside, faster and more direct ones came now. Some dim red flashes stemmed from it, and before his foot had even met the floor once more his armour systems overloaded.

Fett rocketed into the air as flames flew from his wrist, his armoured frame rotated in the air to cast a wide arc over all those that dreamed to close in on the armoury of a man. From that same wrist soared a series of micro-missiles and blaster fire. His other launched darts, for whatever it was worth, after the holstered charric blaster had found his hand. His knees fired off a set of darts, too.

He touched down in one of the countless small crafts that traversed the Senate chamber and shielded himself in a low crouch. Fire from above and below was no doubt to fall on him, and that made that earlier window seemed to be as small was it was before. It closed more so by the second.

"Hacks," he called in a rushed voice over a direct comms line, "I'm in a bind. Senate chamber. I need a distraction and an out."

His current vision transmitted across from the recording feature of his helmet.

Oh, he hated favours. But a favour was better than a lifetime in a cell, or dead.

He wasn't so sure of what was to come of his fellows. Either killed in the defense, or arrested themselves. In truth, Fett found it difficult to care for their fates. Just meant more credits for himself at the bottom line.

Location: Senate Chamber in a pod heading to retrieve Ryv, Auteme and Kirie.

Faith was focused on getting to Ryv Ryv with was carrying the limp forms of Auteme Auteme and Kirie Kirie she was not aware of someone Amun Amun coming from above that was until the flash bag went off.

Immediately Faith jerked her gaze to where the intended distraction landed. Again her attention was not where it should be everywhere around them someone was speaking if the yells and cries of those terrified to move from their hiding spots, it was the guards who were desperately trying to figure out if there were traitors in their ranks.

She could not see Jax Thio Jax Thio and if he was still with Koda Fett Koda Fett and Susanna Sorrows. She was glad she had sent Becca back to the ship she was safe. In all this chaos it would have been easy to lose track of who was the enemy and who was a friend.

Faith kept her hand on the pod controls while it was not a speeder one wrong move and she would crash it into something. The motor had evened out again but in her mind she felt it was only a matter of time before it gave her issues again.

With claws scraping against metal, Lirka pulled herself back up to another of the senator repulsorpods: though "pulled" wasn't quite accurate, in the end she had closer to thrown herself back into one of the pods, all but crushing one of the unfortunate guards inside under the bulk of her plate. A snarl pierced through her helm as she rose, a quick stomp from her boot ending the man. She looked down to Koda Fett Koda Fett briefly before the flash rang out, it seemed the fight wasn't done yet. Leave it to the Jedi and their minions to lack the spine to kill their enemy when the opportunity presented itself.

Pathetic.

Turning her head to shield herself from the distant flash of light, Lirka took out her blaster once again: time to make use of her new vantage point, without too much care she sprayed fire down onto the lower ranks of guardians, even if that Jedi got away she could at least enjoy a nice kill tally at the end of it all. Watching Fett launch himself to cover, Lirka ceased her relentless barrage as the barrel of the gun ran bright red once again. Taking a brief respite from the violence, she scanned her surroundings briefly. Regardless of their new standing, this still wasn't the type of spot she wanted to be in...

...there, she saw half of an opportunity for escape when the time came. The door to the repulsorpod from the outside halls, tightly locked down now: but nothing she couldn't find her way through. For a moment she debated telling the other hunters about her plan for escape, but ultimately decided against it: not like any of them would've done it. Instead Lirka let her weapon cool, hunkering down for a moment and waiting for the chaos with the guards to progress just a bit further...though she did find something else to say.

"I believe our ride out of here might find us running a bit late."

She spoke out into the comms again, with a slathering of dry humor in her words. Though it was still half a question on if they even had a ride off Coruscant still.

Hacks was immersed in netspace, hardwired directly into her computer. The cryptnet from this point of view was impossibly vast, an alternative communication network coded by a slicer in the Red Raven Syndicate decades ago. Unlike the holonet, cryptnet offered increased security and anonymity to its users, who were almost always underworld figures. The Darkwire Shadowrunner had tapped into local CorpSec networks and monitored security chatter and local traffic in her subsector of the Twilight Belt on Denon. Data scrolled across her screens, longitude and latitude estimations of CorpSec cruisers patrolling the vertical neighbourhood. Hacks attention was suddenly ripped away by the ringing of her commlink. She pulled her headset off and unplugged herself from netspace, frustrated.

"What the hell is it now," she said to herself in the lonely apartment. A cheap motel with flaky walls from peeling paint. The carpet stained from thousands of previous tenants. The orange glow of her display screens was the only illumination in the room, bar the occasional red and blue flashing of CorpSec speeders as they gave chase to nameless criminals past her window. Then Hacks saw just who was calling. This will be interesting, she thought to herself. She turned her eyes back to the display screens and checked the time, calculated in her mind the date and time difference between Coruscant and Denon. The senate should be in session, she mused, knowing just well what that meant. She wasn't out of the loop on what Koda had planned, but if he was calling then something had gone south.

"Hello Fett," Hacks answered coldly, twisting in her chair to take back her headset and place it over her head, then re-attaching the wires that would facilitate a connection to her cranial implants, mentally immersing her back into netspace. "Hacks," Fett answered, sounding rushed, "I'm in a bind. Senate chamber. I need a distraction and an out." For a moment she didn't respond, her four arms hovered above her keypad, cybernetic fingers rapidly began to type at an inhuman speed.

"How odd," she started with a smile, "I remember putting my hand up for this job and you thinking you didn't need me for this?" she left the insinuation in the air that even the legendary Koda Fett could be wrong. Then, to her surprise, Koda admitted it, "I thought wrong." Damn, he needed a slicer bad. She could trace his signal, drain his accounts and cut the connection. Let him rot in a cell for the rest of his life. But that wasn't fun, and as much as Hacks hated to admit it, she too needed help. Instead she would twist his arm. She piggybacked Koda's signal and sent a rudimentary trojan script she typed out in seconds, easy to do with twenty fingers and a lifetime of cybernetic enhancements. She laid out the price for her help, "I'll need a favour from you then.. times ticking." The trojan infected Koda's armour, internal systems invaded by her malware before he could even respond.

Koda replied, "Consider it done." One hell of a gatecrasher was about to hit this party. The conversation had only been seconds, but had felt a lifetime in netspace as matrixes of complex code began to formulate under the careful attention of the slicer and then followed along the path of the trojan. "Don't shut this channel," Hacks warned Koda without further explanation, "And get ready to hold onto something." Now in shared control of Koda's own armour, she forced his infected helmet to open a separate channel on his commlink and began to emit trace electromagnetic radiation. Wavelengths. Hacks was prodding the area, scouting a device for which to send a virus and gain control of the local subnet.

Kirie Kirie Ryv Ryv
some time later

Auteme sat up, wincing slightly as pain shot into her abdomen.
278243055_349379400551770_6540175441774364359_n.png

Shot. She'd been shot.

Right under the ribcage – and through her right hand. There was a burnt hole in the latter; it and her barrier hadn't been enough to block the plasma. The bolt had scorched through the flesh of her gut, probably deeper into her liver, though thankfully not past. If it had, she'd probably be dead.

Still, the wound was raw; she could feel the burns having been scraped off. The bacta patch was doing its work, but moving still stung. It took her a minute to adjust her breathing such that she wasn't in constant pain.

It started to come back to her. Cut off, mid-speech… right before the important part, too. Funny how her speech had started with her talking about an attack on a fellow Senator. She'd been shot, then stumbled- falling. That's what she last remembered. Then…

Her eyes began to wander around the room. Things were quiet and dark, but a low blue light told her it was probably early in the morning. Hospital, obviously; clean walls, floors, top of the line equipment – if she'd been picked up from the Senate Floor, she was probably in the Galactic Senate Medcenter.

The floor… she'd been falling. Somebody had caught her.

Her eyes went to her right. Closer to the window was another bedridden patient. Kirie was resting, swaddled in bandages and a neck brace. She must've had broken bones if she wasn't in a bacta bath. Made sense, given their fall. But Kirie was alive, and that was enough.

Auteme got out of her bed, finding her muscles surprisingly loose. She'd probably been knocked out for under a day. She stretched her arms a little as she approached Kirie, then started to take a deep breath- only for the pain to shoot into her gut again. She took a moment, reset, and breathed easy.

Her hands went lightly to Kirie's forehead and chest. The Force seemed knotted up in the woman's body, the pain only staying away because of the quick application of bacta. Right pinky toe torn to shreds, knee broken, waist fractured, ribs set back in place after surgery, clean break on the right arm, a slight displacement of two vertebrae, and head trauma – maybe a concussion. Stable, but movement was out of the question. Auteme needed to change that.

A slow breath, and her hands began to glow with a dull green light, far more muted than usual, but none the less skilled in application. With a bit of a push, the broken things began to mend, letting energy flow back into Kirie's system. Her vertebrae set back properly, and the ribs sealed back in place, strong as ever. Then the pain shot back, and Auteme stopped. She didn't dare try the rest – if she healed back the wrong part, it'd be a difficult surgery to reverse things. In her current state, she couldn't be sure it'd go well.

"Kirie," she said, at first a little hoarsely, but again with a touch more strength. "Kirie. Wake up."

14IDy2O.png

Through the Mandalorians suit systems Hacks was able to pick up trace signals bouncing through the room. Her twenty fingers danced across her keypad to a chaotic rhythm, vast webs of code spun under the careful concentration of this spiders eye. She shot the code out into the ether and waited a millisecond later for the responding cue. The repulsorpod Koda was taking cover in was now under her control. Hacks retreated her trojan from the Mandalorian armour and fled into the pod.

She began to digitally tear to shreds the link between the physical command module and the internal computing systems of the pod, Koda would no longer be able to control the pod, but neither would the senate guards. She placed simple input commands for the pod to rise up, soaring towards the roof of the vast senate chamber, whisking away the hunter.

Turning her attention to the pods link to the senate systems, she followed paths of data laid out ahead of her. Audio systems that could blast sound, holoprojectors to aid senators display key information for all to see. That looks fun, she mused. Four hands raced across her keypad as she constructed a virus for the holoprojectors, a data cache containing holographic parameters of her likeness.

Hacks bounced her malware from the pods communication network to the holoprojectors, injecting the data cache. The projectors sputtered to life, blue light filled the empty centre of the chambers. A gargantuan figure loomed, a deep throaty laugh shook the womans shoulders. It was a projection of the Darkwire Shadowrunner Hacks, standing over the chamber, four cybernetic arms rested on her hips as she laughed at them all. Koda's pods racing ever closer towards escape.

Later, with Auteme Auteme and Ryv Ryv

-

"Kirie. Wake up."

At Auteme's words Kirie stirred in her bed. Her eyes opened a crack and she looked around, obviously confused she was not in her ship or her room in Epoch’s palace, and instead lay bruised and broken in a hospital bed. Kirie shifted, her hand brushing against the metal railings of the bed to find purchase, and she pulled herself into a seated position with a groan, her eyes finally showing some recognition for Auteme. Kirie offered a small smile, but her features were clearly marred by pain, her fingers clasping at the railing in a white-knuckled grip.

"Auteme?"

Kirie sat there, breathing deeply for a moment or two, maybe mustering up the ability to speak.

“Hello.” she croaked quietly. Kirie wriggled to sit up, grunting as she shifted around. She was a sight, even after the healing, with colourful bruises blossoming across her body and a myriad of dressings covering deep lacerations.

“Politics, huh?” Kirie laughed hoarsely. “Are you alright? I was so sure that we had lost you.” She paused for a moment. “Me as well.”

She was being blasé, but really she felt awful. Shaken to her core. Worse, she’d had time to think about the state of things, of her place in the Alliance and the cost of continuing as she did. Kirie coughed and winced in pain, and in a blink her demeanour had changed, her pained but joyous expression fading to one of sorrow.

"I think we should talk. Later I mean, about what we're doing here. I know you're driven but I have lost everyone I have loved in the past two decades, ever since I left Balmorra." Kirie's voice was strained with emotion, her eyes tearful.

"I don't know if I can go on like this, if it's even worth it for us to do this."

Chaos. Under normal circumstances, Lirka adored chaos: the dissolution of order was a holy act in her eyes after all. But this? Well, sometimes holy acts were a pain in the ass. It was all but impossible for her to get a moment of thought, guards were bearing down on her slowly but surely: and as the first of their stun rounds hit, the effects on the systems of her powersuit had been devastating.

But, salvation came in strange ways. As the holographic form of Hacks Hacks burst into life a distraction had opened itself. Turning the burning plasma of her blade to the door on her pod, Lirka unleashed her fury open it: gauging great rents through the metal, she was getting out of here no matter what. All collateral was acceptable, be it civilian: or another hunter.

if they're watching anyways
Auteme teared up a little. "I'm- I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you worry."

She reached out to take Kirie's hand, trying to give any small comfort that wouldn't cause any pain -- her instinct to go hug the woman had to be pushed aside for the moment.

"I- I asked a lot from you. I never meant for this to happen, but-" she tried to find a small laugh, but instead gave only a pained smile. "Politics, huh. Dangerous business."

She started to cry a little. "Thank you for saving my life," she sniffled.

Faith had no idea how much time had passed since the moment she entered the pod to go down to Auteme Auteme Kirie Kirie and Ryv Ryv . She felt as if it had all become very surreal.

Slow motion to what moved around her and passed her.

The soft whispers of others around her barely audible but she knew they were there?

Was this what her brother Theo referred to as time walking? Was she doing that now? How would that of happened she wasn't Kashi...it was just something more to add to the chaos around them.

That was their cue to escape. It was now or a rotten cell in Alliance’s maximum security prison. There would be more opportunities in the future, and they would get paid for the work here today. All they really had to do was silence Auteme and send a message to those in league with her.

With the system hacked temporarily by their slicer associate, a huge projection of figure with four great arms, Amun tried to find what best route to take. Didn’t have to make it too hard as he saw Koda’s pod making an exit. Surely the Mandalorian wouldn’t bother if another Hunter hitched a ride…

Jumping from the pod and firing a grappling hook at Koda’s pod, he would make an effort to climb fast so he wouldn’t be swinging for dear life. What exactly would happen next he would not know, but hoped its would work.

Kirie rubbed her eyes, adjusting to the soft light of the hospital room. Her brain was finally starting to catch up with the rest of her. The rush of emotion at seeing Auteme alive had jolted her into a fuller form of wakefulness.

She saw Auteme’s eyes shining too brightly and felt a pang of concern. It was so like Kirie to immediately dump her sorrows and concerns on others. No doubt Auteme was as fragile and shaken as she was.

"I'm- I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you worry." "I- I asked a lot from you. I never meant for this to happen, but-" "Politics, huh. Dangerous business." "Thank you for saving my life,"

“Happy to be of help.” Kirie laughed weakly. “And that's alright. I always worry."

“I don't think any of us expected this to happen."
Kirie said, looking at Auteme seriously. "How do you feel about all of this? It won’t get less dangerous, putting yourself out there. You could always turn away.”

Kirie knew better than anyone that despite the struggle and uncertainty Auteme had a good chance of becoming the Chancellor. As the race drew to a close, however, things seemed to be getting more unstable, such that now it felt like they were in perpetual freefall, like in the Senate Chamber, hurtling towards Oblivion.

Squeezing Auteme’s hand for reassurance, Kirie cleared her throat.

“I hope that when you are in charge, things will get better. At the moment I feel like this race is taking everything out of me.” She looked down. “I think I need to get away for a bit, from this lifestyle, from Coruscant. I probably need a bit of fresh air and to be honest, I think I should probably find someone else I can talk to while you’re in your meetings.”

She smiled again, sadly this time.

“So what do you say? I’ll take a holiday, go part-time.”

Already Kirie felt as if a bit of the weight on her chest was lifting. One piece of the puzzle figured out. The rest, she hoped, would come later.

if they're watching anyways
Kirie Kirie
Auteme laughed a little, cried a little. "Yes. Yes, Force, yes. Please go make some friends," she said, laughing. "I'm, like, going to change up your employment contract to maximize your health benefits and vacation time, I swear."

She wiped her eyes, to little avail.

"Okay. Okay. Yes, I'd better hire some more staff, since I'm about to announce my campaign. But you're always welcome. In my house, on Epoch, in my office, whatever. Take as much time off as you want. Rest, and get better, and better. I'll, ah, I promise to be more careful, when you're not around to rescue me. And when you're better I'm going to hug you so hard you'll need to go back to the hospital." She squeezed her hand back.

"I'm, er- I think I'm going to go, though. It's been at least a day. I'm still in the, uh, the news cycle. I should capitalize."

CORUSCANT
Amun Amun

It was a mess, all of it. His team, either fled the scene or died in the chaos of it; what were their lives worth if not a few less seconds of heat on the Mandalorian, Fett noted with a callous air. He fled the scene himself, his mission a success, the halls of the Senate offices remained untouched bar the stains of his sins in them - no worse than those of the politicians that inhabited them, he decided.

His helmeted gaze turned to one of the wall-sized windows and propelled a wrist-mounted rocket into it. Overkill. It shattered into sand-sized fragments, glistening in the sun as the Mandalorian propelled himself out and into the city air. Below, a barrage of blue-bolted fire reached for him though to no avail as Fett flew with the aid of his jetpack.

Best to leave Coruscant as soon as he could, though not without his share of time hiding in the levels beneath the capital of the Galaxy.

EMBbJUW.png

Hacks monitored the collection of cameras from within the chambers, or rather the ones that hadn't been blown out by anxiety-riddled inaccuracy between the shooters. The hologram of herself nstill loomed over the senate floor, a blue translucent giant that thrived on the chaos. She had monitored the security networks and to her surprise the Alliance had not begun countering her slicing. Like walking into a bank and they've left the vault open, and the tellers don't care what you do.

She gave a mental shrug, believing that SIA was more competent than this. The second time Hacks had targeted Galactic Alliance systems, here in the senate, earlier at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, and the local traffic systems, and yet both times the slicer had gotten away completely unchallenged. She tugged herself away from the distracting thoughts, almost forgetting Fett. She let the data pour over her mind and wash away unnecessary musings.

A security camera snapped to Fett and closely followed his movements, up and out the window of the chambers. Good, she thought to herself, not much else more I need to do here. She closed her connection to the security subsystems, shut down the hologram of herself and retreated, burning her code on her way out of the senate network. She pinged his armour, a subroutine virus she had left in his systems, something sure to irk him, "If you have anymore trouble let me know."

Then Hacks logged off.
