  1. PUNISH THOSE WHO ATTACK AND GET ISOLATED like the GA's Genius strategist said "lolz lets attack Courscant head on!" no, punish them IC for it. They will looes half or hell maybe the whole damn navy, and watch and suffer the consequences. It's war. Your idea means you can either be a hero or become the ultimate enemy of your nation.
This Star Wars not Star Trek,
Here we use hyperspace, not a warp drive.
So in theory you could Launch an attack to other side of galaxy and have no issues.
Example: The attack on coruscant by the CIS in clone wars. They had no bases near by, but could do it.

Though that does bring cloud burst into the question, but that is a different topic.

"Realistically, you CAN'T have 46996 star destoryers in less than a week. Those take AGES to build."

Didn't the faction currently holding Coruscant literally show up with a crapton of ships that near matched or outnumbered their opponents, and attacked Coruscant, held by the biggest faction on the site at the time, and won, immediately after becoming a Major Faction?

I'm just Saiyan.

Haha to be fair, the Sith always tend to pop up fully armed to the teeth out of no where in canon. But perhaps the blitzkrieg GA invasion is their IC comeuppance. I'm guessing the Republic used to own Coruscant?

[member="Jareb Kaine"] Yep. They were the former owners. One Sith shows up out of nowhere immediately after becoming major with a buttload of ships, and takes Coruscant, the Republic HOMEWORLD, pretty much immediately after becoming a Major.

Can you explain to me why it takes "ages" to build a starship? Can you give me an estimate for how long it would take, for how much credits it would cost (keep in mind the credit is absolutely incomparable to the US dollar and that each faction spans exponentially more worlds that would earn them an exponential amount more money per capita than what the entire planet earth would have been able to create in ten years time), and how many droids/people/equipment would be required to complete this figure?

Can you explain to me why the various starship manufacturers, tier 5 companies at that, aren't able to meet these figures at a consistent basis throughout the span of an entire year when a government is willing to pay for it? Are you aware entire planets and space stations that rival asteroids in size are dedicated to building solely ships?

What are you basing these estimates on?

LIMIT STEALTH SHIPS. They take FOREVER to build. I don't wanna see god damn 20 stealth ships completed by a week. They should take atleast two weeks.
A stealth ship is literally a regular starship with the addition of a stealth system that probably takes hardly any time at all to build, just like any normal component takes, but is only restricted because of balance and usage in the factory. Not all stealth ships utilize stygium, either.

If we really are gonna go by the by day formula, establish build times and ETAS for your equipment and make sure the economy suffers from it. Seriously, having a huge army is expensive, and horrible for the economy of the faction/nation.
What economy are you basing this information/idea on that is even remotely comparable to a faction that spans hundreds of solar systems that are fully populated?

How are they isolated? Take a gander at the two-dimensional map (which isn't even accurate in terms of battle tactics in space or even air). Space is three-dimensional. You can approach from any angle, simply creating a blockade wall would not keep anyone in or out of OS space. One could simply turn around, go under or over them, or jump to hyperspace and avoid them.

Stopping movement in space without a massive mass shadow generator that would have to encompass the entire region (which would actually be impossible, both in terms of physics and in terms of practicality or even creation, without handwavium that you're trying to avoid) is impossible.

Cutting someone off like one would while physically marching a ground force/army on land is completely different than trying to wage naval warfare in space. It's also entirely incomparable to actual naval warfare on Earth in terms of a sea-based navy, and an air-raid on Earth is the closest, but still not an accurate representation, that you'll get in terms of comparing real-world to space.

Are you beginning to see where this is appearing too complicated?

[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] No they got betrayed from within, they had 5th column. Also we took them by surprise, which gave us an advantage.

[member="sabrina"] They still apparently showed up with a -lot- more ships then a new major should have, is what I'm saying. Thus why I'm bringing it up while you're talking about another faction having too much too fast against the exact same faction :)

[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] not really, the first fleet battle we had, we had no new ships so we used old cannon ones, we got slaughtered.

OS is a bad example to use. They were minor for months, consolidating active members and strength and formulating a single clear strategy. They rivaled most Major Factions long before even claiming Major status. Most people watching the situation knew what was coming and to this day, the OS's emergence remains as one of the finest examples of what a clear vision and dedicated roleplayers can achieve.

Their initial execution of the faction was almost flawless. Don't minimize that by dragging it into a debate about how factions can't appear overnight. OS didn't appear overnight. A lot of hard work was put into that faction over the course of several months prior to launching their war.

Optionally, if people want to count numbers and keep track of that, it might be looked at as a story point for them.

Would be a lot of work. The detail might aid their posts however, you'd have the commissioning of ships, the history behind the ships, the losses they'd taken etc. You could certainly use that detail when the time came, but actually having 3 stardestroyers or 10 won't help you write a better story or post out of it. If all it is to say is, we've got more ships so we should be on top, because star wars, even any old action film or story has never worked like that. 5 Heroes PC's should have more impact than a 1000 daves in someone's post.

Like I say its a big investment of time, and a lot of people don't want to bean count like that. I am trying to keep some detail going for the OS's 5th army, so I can use it as a story arc as they go forward, but that's more a personal thing.
