Strengths:
Intense Offense: The Wavebreak Battlecruisers are very heavily armed, with a quartet of Onager-class Plasma Rail Cannons and Cascade Proton Beam Cannons functioning as main batteries designed to break apart other battlecruisers. These mighty weapons are backed by secondary batteries of high-powered lasers, turbolasers, mass driver cannons, and munitions launchers.
Impressive Defense: The Wavebreak is exceptionally well-shielded, having a pair of Aspis shield systems and a full power Retribution Shield. Perhaps even more impressively, the Wavebreak is sheathed in molecularly bonded Impervium Armor plating, which makes it a relatively resilient craft even without shields.
Low Mobility: The Wavebreak Battlecruisers are not very fast, nor are they very maneuverable.
Low Starfighter Complement: Wavebreak Battlecruisers carry two wings worth of starfighters, which is not very many given their massive size.
Technical Descriptions
Crew and Automation: The Wavebreak makes extensive use of department networked Calor-series Biocomputers, allowing each department (Weapons, communications, engines, etc) to automate different parts of their daily operations as needed. However, Wavebreaks are designed to be fully manned by crewmen at any time. This means that on the Wavebreak, the automation is used as a supplement or a reserve. The ship's bridge, like many other Lucerne Labs designs, is a CIC amphitheatre design set in the middle of the vessel. Additionally, the Wavebreak takes a cue from the similarly wide Supremacy, utilizing an internal droid tram system to quickly move crew, passengers, and cargo around the ship. This is frequently used to rapidly move damage control crewmen to damaged areas.and security forces to areas where boarding actions are occurring.
Communications: The Wavebreak makes extensive use of three Oracle-class Communications Packages and Biocomms that allow the ship to effectively function as a command and control vessel for large task forces. To that end, the Wavebreak has a dedicated communication's room to facilitate the almost seamless flow of information to and from a wide variety of sources. This communication's room also notably houses many of the ship's EI-9 droids, allowing them to rapidly be alerted and respond to attempts to slice into the ship. Because Oracle can also be used to jam and disrupt communications, units working in sync with a Wavebreak will typically use channel-hopping algorithms to link their communication's efforts, which allows the Wavebreak to selectively jam frequencies to deny their use to the enemy while allowing their own communications to continue unhindered.
Computer systems: The Wavebreak makes extensive use of Lucerne Labs propietary Calor series Bio-computers and Biolux Organoform Circuitry to form large, adaptable networks that service individual departments, such as Medical, and systems, such as Propulsion, of the ship. Typically, these local networks are not linked together, using compartmentalization in order to promote cyber security. The systems of the bridges are an exception, however, most of those consoles only have read-only access, and cannot input commands into those networks. However, the commanding officer's console is in turn the exception to both of those rules, and can be used to vastly augment the task of whatever he or she is working on or provide computing power for several AIs. These computer systems are augmented by Hydra Mesh programming and protected by Mithril Security Software.
Hull: The Wavebreak uses a Ossis series starship frame as the structural framework upon which a thick layer of Impervium Armor plating is attached. This layer of Impervium was obtained from a months long project of several Hephaestus Factory ships using their molecular furnaces to transform common durasteel and other common materials into impervium. This particularly energy and materially intensive task was further complicated by putting the obtained material through a molecularly bonding process, where the material was softened by ion fusers before being exposed to charged-particle vibrating waves before rapidly being cooled. The resulting armor, while quite expensive and relatively rare, is exceptionally resistant to enemy weapon's fire, and provides the Wavebreak's with excellent protection for their size. Internally, several stragetically important parts of the Wavebreak have internal coatings of agrinicrete, which dampens the ability of radiation and ion weapons to effect these areas.
Hyperdrive: The Wavebreak has a pretty typical hyperdrive system for a ship its size, capable of propelling the vessel up to x2 speed. The prevalence of interdictor technology being employed by the First Order inspired Lucerne Labs to incorporate multiple hyperspace coils in the ship's HIMS design, allowing it to better penetrate extensive interdiction efforts.
Security: The Wavebreak incorporates conventional Lucerne Labs internal security systems, making extensive use of code cylinders to control sensitive access to the ship and its systems. Tripping or attempting to force one's way into the system can not only trigger silent alarms that inform the ship's security team, but also trigger any number of automated traps. Forced access to most restricted rooms triggers man traps concealed underneath the deck's plate in an attempt to immobilize the intruder. Key rooms, corridors, and junction points are further guarded by Class VI automated laser projectors and force-field generators. In terms of electronic protection, the ship utilizes a Mithril Security Software that is frequently watched over and supervised by dedicated network administrator droids and organic slicers.
Shields: The Wavebreak's main shielding is a pair of distinct Aspis Shield System networks, which typically provide two layers of standard strength shielding across the entire ships hull. These shields are covered by a separate Retribution shield that is designed to rapidly return a portion of the energy absorbed by the ships to its original attacker. Lastly, the Wavebreak does have an Aegis-class Anti-Concussion Field Generator, but it lacks the ability to independently power it. Consequently, another system has to be turned off to power this device. Because of the high energy demands, this is typically one of the ship's shield systems or its sublight drives.
Sublight Drives: The Wavebreak is propelled by banks of Nimble-5 Ion Engines located across its flying wing design. While not particularly fast even compared tomany of its peers, the Wavebreak is a relatively fuel efficient design. The engines can temporarily boost the Wavebreak''s speed to average speeds at the cost of lowering the Wavebreak's maneuverability. Conversely, the Wavebreaks maneuverability can be increased to average levels at the cost of making the ship barely mobile of by using the ship's Gulfstream maneuvering system. Because all of the ship's engines are identical, maintenance and repair is exceptionally simple, leading to the engine rooms mostly being staffed by a droid work crew that includes hatching droids, LE Repair droids, and astromechs. The organic crew typically supervises their efforts from a remote control station rather than suit up in radiation suits except when its absolutely necessary, such as for complicated repairs or detailed inspections. Because the ship has relatively weak agility, unusually small flank firepower, and wide hull, Wavebreak helmsmen need to be unusually careful in their situational awareness.
Weapons: Wavebreaks are designed to batter down other large battlecruisers in full frontal encounters, and this shows in its design. The Wavebreak's center hull has four ovoid growths coming out of it that each home to a single Onager-class Plasma Rail Cannon, a massive weapon designed to shatter enemy warships from range. Because each Onager is some distance away from the other and can partially angle their shots, the Wavebreak is capable of having all four Onagers fire converge at distant points (not unlike the laser cannons of a X-wing), in order to better penetrate through heavy defenses. For closer range affairs, the central hull houses a quartet of four Cascade Proton Beam Cannons lined up side by side in a single row. This not only allows them so similarly converge on a single point at close range, but also allows them to fire side by side to deny areas to smaller ships or provide an area of saturation effect. Because most ships would likely try to simply avoid such firepower, the Wavebreaks have an Aura-class Tractor/Pressor Beam Projector located on each of its wingtips, which can be used to move or otherwise herd targets into the path of those weapons, or help the Wavebreak to move itself to better align its weapons for such use. For smaller targets and additional firepower, the Wavebreaks also carry a wide variety of secondary weapons spread out across its hull, ranging from large homing lasers and plasma energy torpedo launchers to batteries of turbolasers and mass driver cannons. Its wide hull and high internal volume is unusually well-suited for minelaying, allowing the battlecruisers to leave fields of loosely spaced mines in its wake. Lastly, the ship sports evenly dispersed groups of quad laser cannons, defensive projectile launchers, and quad autoblasters to provide it with close-range protection against small threats like starfighters and missiles.
Carrying Capacity: As designed as a heavy ship to ship combatant for “slugging matches”, the Wavebreak devoted much of its proximal internal volume to outer space to heavy armor plating and extensive banks of armaments. This left little room for starfighter bays, and the few hangar bays it does have are somewhat unusual in that they are actually buried relatively deep in the ship itself, with lengthy and narrow tunnels needed to exit the ship. While this provides them with good protection, it also means that it takes longer than normal to fully launch a squadron of fighters. Individually, each hangar can house a single squadron of craft which can be locked down by thick blast doors armored in Impervium Armor platingr and is flanked by a pair of tractor beam projectors to help guide damaged starfighters into the hangar bay or to dissuade intruders from entering the bay if the doors are not shut. The Wavebreak also has several other hangars of similar design that carry the support craft needed to maintain its day to day operations or to land its ground force complement. By virtue of its size, the Wavebreak also carries a large number of troops and ground vehicles, typically the equivalent of a single battlegroup under the old Imperial Army system. Because the Silver Jedi and their affiliated ISAF forces have relatively few organic soldiers, most of these forces are actually automated. It's not uncommon to see over half of these forces actually consist of L1 Marinus droids which not only provide ship security, but also assist in running the ship itself.
