We need a political subforum...

I've come across one person ever who's ever been convinced by an internet argument about politics. One, out of all the forums, article and youtube comments and chat messages I've seen. And that was just on a minor point where they were factually wrong about something.
So yeah, a political forum would be just people loudly trumpeting their views which are set in stone and telling other people they're stupid. Thus it descends into anarchy.

Does anyone think that [member="Lupe Baracka"] will go 'you know, you're right, I'm going to change by beliefs because a random stranger told me something on the internet'?
No.
It's merely an excuse to try and show how you've reached political nirvana and how everyone should be awed and won over by your genius. Sadly, everything else things the same for themselves.

If there is one aspect of ye olde craftshop which poisoned the atmosphere it was a half dozen windbags with unmoveable positions bombastically declaring their positions and taking over an entire forum.

So it's not happening here. Ever.

Except it wasn't. It's sort of like watching those 'fail' videos on Youtube. Sure it's funny to watch someone fall down a hill, but you feel guilty afterwards and vaguely dirty.
It promotes bad attitude and competitive, personal, disputes between members.

I find very little entertaining about a board owner loudly proclaiming his intolerance and prejudices in full view of every member and guest to the site. Which happened regularly, even without taking into account how many members did that on an hourly basis.

I would very much like for this problem to not be a thing here. No politics. Stop with the politics.

Yeah. I suppose. Way to be a buzzkill.

But, the consensus of it causing bad blood between members is correct. It does. But, a lot of heated discussions do.

There's a rule of thumb I live by. No two people will agree on every subject. So, it seems a poor point to not like someone because you don't agree with their opinions.

If they're a good writer and make good stories, then you should still write with them. Because, we're a community. A community of misfits and nerds, but that's the best kind of community.

Other than the TV series Community.

For those of you drifting by and don't want to read this discussion go in the inevitable circle it's heading towards, the answer is no, a politics forum isn't happening. I am thinking about a "Music" forum though, for discovering music to listen to while writing/reading.

amen I like having a senator but I have more fun with her then just sitting around waiting for bills... or writing them. Still I know some like it and won't deny them their bliss.

I actually talked about bringing OOC politics into Chaos. XD But yeah, could be approached this way, too.
