Private What are the odds...

Well if that weren't stunningly obvious. When she came close, the mirrored action was to simply turn in her direction, lining her up as if to be able to easily skewer her through with his saber. Though he didn't have too. As she motioned to the canteen, he leaned to his right, clasping the canteen which was empty without looking at it, this caused him to have to clutch at the air once or twice before actually getting it. What the hell was she on about cooking him a proper meal someday? As if he would ever eat a b-...

Another bite from anything she made, no doubt it would be poisoned. What made her think he would deny his pride as a Sith and let her leave this planet breathing? Did she think him weak? He drew a breath suddenly; respiratory system kicking up a notch as he started seething to himself. A very brief moment of anger flushing through him. He gripped that saber so tightly it pierced his flesh, and the kid just stared at her in bewilderment...

A few beats would pass...

"I drank it all... You're right. Better to dry it" he shuddered, as the temperature hit him then; turning slightly away from her. He would press back lightly, so as their backs just barely touched (initially) letting their body warmth be shared. Not like the fire wasn't helping, but it made sense to share their warmth to him. Just in cast the fire died throughout the night.

As far as he basically getting ready to pass out sitting up however, he would just mumble as he rested his head against that sandy dune.

"I would've stabbed you through your back earlier if I wanted to kill you still, go to bed..." he said, right hand showing her he still held that saber firmly. Not exactly the most comforting thing, but therein there was a comfort in how true his words were.

She had no reason to be fearful of him just yet. He just wasn't sure how long that would last...

It seemed the conversation about her fixing him a meal at another time was dropped and it returned to the now. Their shared situation was certainly odd for her but even as enemies, they had learned to work together somewhat. He had killed the dinner for them and she had cooked it. If not for his lightsaber and her fire, they could have been that cat's lunch.

Accepting the canteen from him and stiffening up a little when he leaned against her light, he had pointed out a truth. By now if he had wanted her dead, he could have killed her easily. Why hadn't he? She assumed it was because he realized he needed her to get off this dustball of a planet. Same as she needed him and for the same reason.

"I must get this canteen filled before going to sleep and dry the meat before it goes bad. Then I can sleep."

Attempting to be responsible, an idea came to her mind. Reaching out with the Force to the meat leftover, she smiled when she felt just how much water was in it still.

"I can dry the meat out and fill your canteen at the same time. No promises that it won't taste like some sort of liquid meat but it won't be poisoned and the food won't go bad."

Almost as soon as she finished with both projects, she fell asleep. Half leaning against his back and the wall of the cave next to them. When morning came, she opened her eyes and found herself still alive...this almost surprised the teen. Letting out a sigh of relief, she considered something. If Rax was awake, she made her suggestion.

"I feel we should try to travel at dawn and dusk. During the heat of the day, we should seek shelter and maybe at night too. Heat does kill."

He offered her a nod in response, but didn't dwell on that conversation; instead rising up and heading out of the cave ahead of her. As soon as he got out of the entrance, He would look around, doing a full three-sixty, then focusing on her briefly, thinking on her words. The morning was indeed cool, just as dusk was, but it wouldn't be wise for them to try and travel through the extremes. In any case, right as she was, that meant they needed to hit the road while the could.

"If you think so, sure..."

He offered a very basic response, not really putting on whether he agreed or not, just brushing it off with a quick response. Holding the things in his hand, (making sure to carry more than she was), he just trudged through the snow, angrily stomping in the same direction they had headed yesterday. It was then he heard it... Very faintly, but just enough that his head would snap back to look at Xiao.

weeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-rr---

It was a whisper on the wind, but there was no mistaking it, it had to be a speeder. He hurried his path up on the hill, and looked down at the sandy valley in front of them... Nothing. He couldn't even see a trail, but that sound wasn't his imagination.

"Tell me you heard it too... You must have."

he mumbled, pressing on a little more slowly now, but keeping the pace.

Talk about extremes in weather. Just the day before it had been blisteringly hot and overnight enough snow had fallen to make traveling more difficult. Moving around was helping to keep Xian warm and she silently hoped it was the same for her companion.

"How are your toes? This weather is odd...Hold on! Where are you going?"

If she were being truthful, the teen was more focused on putting one foot in front of the other and not paying as much attention to what was going on around them as she should have. When he took off running at a high velocity up the nearby hill, she stumbled after him.

Shaking her head when Rax asked if she had heard the hum.

"Nothing. I think this desert is playing tricks on your mind. Have a drink and let's find shelter. Take the rest of day to recover from whatever has taken yours."

While he was looking at the sandy valley below, she turned her gaze further away. Lifting a hand, she thought she saw some fertile land in the distance.

"I think there's some forest over there."

Perhaps that noise he had heard was coming from the woods and he had better hearing than she did.
