Wheels in Motion

It was a good thing the rules here were to first blood, surrender or knockout. There could be injuries but there were medics around each ring to help if that happened. While Reggie wandered around gathering up what he felt he was going to need, Seo was making her own observations. When he rejoined her, she would tell him what she expected from each of the others around them.

There was one that appeared to favour her left side, another one he probably would not meet in combat due to their respective weapon choices. Seo would still mention her observations though.

Having watched him as he wandered around when he mentioned the staff he carried, she nodded.

"Do you have a name you want to go by rather than your real one?"

If she had felt it a poor or bad idea that he gathered the equipment, she would have stopped him. Since this mission was something private and not one given to them by the Silvers, any cost would have to come out of their pockets. She had not stopped him from paying for what he did pick out but did insist on paying for the staff. It was what a good manager would do.

Reggie listened as he was told the expectations of the other fighters. Information on potential opponents is always good to have, so he made sure to listen carefully. It also helped him prepare mentally for what was ahead. When asked i there was a name he'd rather go by for now, the Padawan took a few seconds to think. It might be a good idea to go by a different name since he was playing a part here, so he thought of something quickly.

"Hmm. I'll go by Gray. Gray Campbell if they ask for a last name."

He looked at Seo, hoping that she didn't think the name was weird. It wasn't a flashy name, which was what he was going for. Just a name that'll probably fade away after hearing about it after awhile. Well, that's what he thought anyway.

When he was stopped so that she could pay for the equipment, he didn't hold any objection like he usually would. As his manager, it probably was good for appearances for her to get the gear.

Having been observing the others around them, Seo slowly took on the attitude of them. Around Reggie, she was as much herself as she could be. If others were close though, she took on the demeanour of a manager. Giving him a simple nod when he provided a cover name.

"It will do."

Patting him on the shoulder, she held out the small items for him to take. Letting go of them and him, she turned around to pick up some armour for him. It wasn't anything heavy and would still allow him freedom of movement.

"I think this will do nicely for your match. What about you?"

Reggie took the items and double checked the area to see if there was anything else he could possibly need. His attention was brought back to Seo when she presented the padawan with armor that fit his preferences. Reggie took the armor with a smile on his face, thankful for Seo's assistance.

"I think its perfect. Thank you."

Reggie put the armor on and was a bit surprised to find that it exceeded his expectations a bit. What he had found before wouldn't have given him as much freedom of movement like the armor that Seo had picked out for him. He moved around a bit, making sure everything they had gathered was comfortable for him. After a few seconds, he turned back to Seo.

"It seems like everything is in order. Do you think i'm ready?"

Reggie as the question in case Seo had any other equipment to give, or had any advice in general for what was to come. The padawan was always open to advice, especially when it came from someone who had much more experience than him.

One of the retainers walked among the young fighters with a datapad. When she approached then, she asked for their names. Seo gave her cover name of Avis and then the one Reggie had come up with. She left instructions for them to wait until he was called up and then sparring would begin. They would be able to watch and observe the other fighters in their matches.

"You know your name and what to do. We can get back there until you're up. I do think you're ready and you're welcome."

Her tone was full of confidence and her expression was calm. Any other advice would be given once they learned who his opponent would be.

Watching the other fighters as they sparred would be valuable to Reggie. One thing the Padawan was good at was analyzing a person's fighting style and adapting, something he usually had to do while battling. Being able to do the same without having to worry about being attacked was nice.

The opponent that the Padawan would face was finally known to them. Vincent Terrance was apparently his name and Reggie could already tell that the man was much stronger than he was.

Vincent was a well built guy, a heavy blade being his choice of weapon from what they could see. From what he could predict, one strike would be all the man needed to take down the Padawan.

"Besides keeping my distance from the weapon of his, is there anything you can tell me that may gove me the upper hand Avis?"

Even though he knew the threat, Reggie wasn't scared or anxious. He was determined, but not overconfident.

The name Avis was her original lastname and one she rarely used these days. When her mother married her step-father, she had taken on his name. Seo never forgot where she came from though and Avis was a cover name she used now and then. She never expected anybody to know of either Seo Linn or Avis, but that was fine with her.

They were allowed to watch the young fighter compete. His lot was drawn and opponent known. Reggie asked if she had any additional advice to give and she nodded.

"He's larger and stronger, but not faster. Your choice of weapon gives you several attack options, but I'm sure you're familiar with them. Don't go for stopping his blows, just try to deflect them. You are also a Force User so that should help. Don't openly use it though and just allow it to flow naturally to help you."

She would point out weaknesses in the armor worn and areas to target on Vincent.

Their names were called after a more spars were held. Walking to the ring together, he was announced with a small amount of fanfare.

"Remember it is to first blood or submission. Good luck. I am going to wait until your match is ended and observe the others back here. Might pick up on some clues to the girl we are looking for."

The gate closed between them as Vincent was announced.
