When There Are No Words To Say

Valik

Professor of Alchemy
The slap came quick. Fast. With more force than should have came from a 110ish pound woman. He wasn't completely sure if it was the Force or sheer rage-inducing adrenaline that allowed her to his with that sort of power, but he'd wager it was the adrenaline. She wouldn't use the Force to attack her force-fearing boyfriend would she? As he thought a distinct scarlet tone began to 'his' face, letting Kitt know full well exactly where she hit him. Flint would really be feeling that one in the morning. Provided that he was feeling anything at all by then.

"Quite simply I'm not done." He responded as if it were something she should have understood already. "Death came for me and I was unwilling to greet it. There is still work to be done." Valik said, before Flint's face adopted a devilish grin.

"You know, there is only one achievement I lack. If you were to help me with that I'd leave this body behind and let the two of you prance around in your Star Destroyer unhassled."

Fingers twitched at her side. She wanted to smack him again. She held herself back. Barely. Fingers curled into the fabric of Flint's shirt as she went to press him roughly into the back of his chair. She leaned in real close as she spoke the next words in slow precision.

"What do you expect, Valik? A funeral and a dirge? Maybe the galaxy finally gave you what you deserved." Voice trembled in passion. "What's to stop me from finding a way to rip your soul free right now? Why would I ever entertain the idea to help you?"

It was insulting.

Taking over the controls of the shuttle with one hand, she began to set a course back toward the destroyer.

Kitt's actions were sharp, confident, a contrast to her trembling voice. She held anger, passion, sorrow. If she were a sith now would be the worst time to fight her. If she were a jedi it'd be perhaps the best. In between was a good place to coerce a fall, but Valik needed none of these things from her.

"There's nothing stopping you from trying, just like there's nothing to stop me from seeing how long Flint will last if I rearrange his organ systems. You can choose not to help me if you wish, but I offer you and the man safety, a chance to walk away. I let you do it once before, and I will again if you're willing simply hold onto something for me." His tone was cold, calculating. If Kitt Solo were to try to sense him in the Force she'd feel nothing coming from the Alchemist. A sign he wasn't readying a knife for her back, but perhaps also a chance for Kitt to get a first strike.

She stayed hovering over Flint/Valik. Her senses were wide-open in the force, searching for any duplicity in Valik's signature. Well, anything beyond what was normal for his essence.

Olive-skinned face scowled.

Fingers slowly uncurled from the fabric of his shirt. For fear of wrecking his face more, and not in the good way, she turned her full attention back to piloting, gripping the controls tightly. "I'm listening. You better talk quickly before I do something brash and dangerous."

Valik smiled as the bounty hunter let him go, returning to piloting.

"All I need is for you to let me concentrate. Neither you nor this vessel will be harmed. I'll be gone before you dock with your ship." Valik said before bringing his hands together and closing his eyes, letting him concentrate upon the Force. If Kitt tried to sense what he was doing she would feel the Force moving through him as if it were nearly a force of nature, though it wouldn't brim the Dark Side's normal feel. She wouldn't be able to see nor hear anything coming from him, nor physically feel what he was doing. At least not for another month or so, in which time she'd find a surprise. By the time they returned to the ship she'd feel Valik had left, perhaps from living entirely.

Assuming of course that he wasn't interrupted.

Teeth clenched. Valik was manipulative but he usually didn't lie. Except for when it came to smearing opponents of a Fringe political campaign.

Spencer Jacobs.

Her senses in the force remained open, like a finger on a pulse. If he tried anything...she wondered if a blast of force light would rip him out. But she didn't have to worry about it for long because like the breeze on Dak's shores, he was suddenly gone. She blinked and looked over at Flint as the shuttle docked.

Definitely gone.

Confusion scrunched up her features. But what had he wanted?! Gorramit Valik. Lips pursed in thoughtful anger.

"Flint?" Voice was hesitant. The shuttle came to a stop. She unbuckled her harness.

The rogue blinked a bit, and shook his head a moment to clear his thoughts.

"Kitt?" He asked, because she seemed so doubtful it was him. He looked around and saw he was in the Corellia's astreroid field, debris of what remained of the planet. Strange, he only remembered just getting out of the Grave Wind and asteroid fields were normally dicey flying. A turn of his head and he saw Kitt, emotion all over her face. The woman was torn, her emotions shining like a beacon.

"I-" What did you say when a woman lost her entire homeworld? Or worse, one without a post in over a year? Flint didn't know. "I'm sorry."

The view of her wrecked home world was quickly swallowed by the flickering lights of one of the many Star Destroyer bays. She'd have to look at those lights but for now the mechanic's attention was entirely on her captain. He said he was sorry.

He had no idea. About Valik. About any of it. And she was going to keep it that way. Even if she still had no idea what that karker Valik...

Still, just to be sure, her hands came up to cup either side of his bristled-face. Myrtle-ellipses searched his eyes intently. She stayed like that for a moment, until she was satisfied. "You're okay. I mean...it's okay."

Corellia was still a blow. But losing Flint had been far scarier. The muscles in her shoulders were still tense. Gaze became distracted as she thought. She'd have to find him something that would protect him from outside force-user influence. She just needed an alchemist.

Nose scrunched up at the irony.

Flint couldn't shake the feeling that she was still shook up. And why wouldn't she be? Flint had been through a lot, but he couldn't imagine losing one's homeworld.

"We'll get through this Kitt." He said and let out a small smile. Arm lurched over and wrapped it's way around the mechanic's shoulder. Head leaned down and laid a kiss on her forehead. "We'll get through this." He reassured her again, or tried to rather. After all she'd seen in the last twenty minutes physical contact might not have been all that reassuring. Not that Flint was privy to any what happened of course.

Kitt would feel a light squeeze around her shoulders, and Flint would give her a bit of room and begin to stand up.

"So you want to help me fix the hanger bay lights or you want a meal first? I can cook you . . . " There was a pause as Flint thought about what he could cook well. "Well, I can scrounge up something in the mess."

Shoulders stiffened slightly as his arm came around. She clenched her teeth. It took a serious amount of control not to step away.

It's not Valik.

"Offering to cook?" Chestnut-brows lofted a small smile playing on her face, breaking through some of the tension. She walked with him out of the small, confined space of the shuttle and into the expanse of the hangar.

"Don't we have droids for that?"

Small smile turned into impish grin and she shot Flint a sidelong glance. But she also needed time to think. To make some calls. "But I am hungry. Surprisingly so. Why don't you find something and meet me back here? I'll get started on the overheads."

There was a harness and rope pulley system she could use to reach the light panel. They would definitely need to get more maintenance droids. But until then, old school. She began to pull away, trying not to think of Valik anymore.
