Cyran didn’t think he’d be dealing with the Jedi order for the rest of the year. Even with what limited escapade he’s had already felt like more than enough for a good while. Yet fate was a tricky mistress and as it so happened wanted to squeeze more arcane hijinks into his schedule. He was given a special “honor” by the authorities of galactic city to take care of a special contract. A gang bust in the lower city, a mostly typical group consisting of the usual scum and villain. That is if it wasn't for the leader, a malevolent yet staunchly sovereign Force User. Someone with zero connection or loyalties with the Sith or similar cults. Who utilized their powers to amass a modest amount of criminal power.

However, with them being a dark jedi it is also of interest to the Jedi order, which would typically be the ones to deal with it on their own. Although there’s information that the Dark Jedi gang leader is in the possession of some sensitive data, stored within their personal computer. Wanting discretion, that's where Cyran comes in. As the police are confident that a mystic powerhouse like a jedi would make short work of the gang and their leader they don’t want the order catching wind of the sensitive data and getting their hands on it. Still Cyran will be expected to collect any and all bounties he can on the job, his primary focus is on retrieving the data and making sure the Jedi he’s partnered with doesn’t.

And of course to spice things up it seems as though fate wanted to pair off a Miss Valery Nobile with Cyran once more. Information that if the bounty hunter had known sooner would’ve made me a little reluctant to take the job. But he only learned of this fact after agreeing to the contract. The zeltron being the professional that he is has to see it through and give his clients what they're paying him for.

After contacting Valery to let her know the “good news” that they would be partnering up for the evening they scheduled a time and place to meet. That being a fairly unremarkable dinner in the undercity. Someplace close to their job.

Currently Cyran had his helmet off, tinkering with the heads up display on a datapad of his. Sitting at a booth table, on it next to his helmet was a steamy half full cup of coffee. The time was about 9:30ish PM, not that it really mattered too much in a place like this where the sun doesn’t shine. But for Cyran it was late. He was wearing pretty light weight black gear, only really processing his chest pieces and knee pads, along with that iconic T visored helmet of his. His old jetpack was leaning on the seat next to him, as it was pretty uncomfortable to sit with. Tapping away on his datapad Cyran waited for his partner in crime law to arrive and they could discuss the task at hand. This time hopefully he could be a bit more than just an interstellar chofer to remote planets with esoteric sanctuaries…

Of all the people she could have ended up working with a second time, she hadn't expected Cyran to be one. Not that she minded at all, but it was rare for a Jedi and mercenary to team up once for a job, let alone twice. But very specific circumstances had created the perfect assignment that required it, and she happily accepted the mission. Normally, other Jedi would have perhaps been assigned but taking down those tainted by the Dark Side was her specialty as a former Shadow, and this one was gaining power at the heart of the Alliance.

It was crucial that he be stopped.

Of course, the Dark Jedi likely had amassed quite a group of followers already, either by paying them, using fear as a tool, or even just manipulating the mind. She had seen it all during former assignments, and it remained to be seen what would be the case here. Either way, Valery was ready for the job.

...

"Long time no see," Valery said after quietly making her way over to the booth. She had entered the diner without ordering anything and had walked up to Cyran directly. Usually, in the underworld, Valery would have gone somewhat undercover, but considering the details of this mission, she had chosen to appear wearing her usual outfit, and with two lightsabers visibly attached to her belt on each hip.

It drew some attention, but she ignored it all.

"I trust you've been well?" She then asked before sliding into the boot, on the opposite side of the table. Her eyes then shifted to the datapad and she tilted her head, "What are you working on?"

When Valery spoke and made her arrival known to the bounty hunter he was taking a sip from his cup. He raised an eyebrow and looked up at her. His eyes went a little wide at the sight of her. More so her attire, but he didn’t choke on his hot beverage. He’s only seen her in more… “typical outfit”. Although the one she was currently wearing definitely matched her lightsaber colors. He still thought he was onto something with that whole royalty thing.

As the Jedi took a seat across from him Cyran picked up on prying eyes in the room with them. A Jedi was one thing, but a Jedi with an apparent Mandalorian, now that was noteworthy. Setting his cup down he replied. “Actually yes thanks to you miss nob- I mean Valery. That ship loan getting paid off was actually a bigger help than I thought it would be. I do hope you’ve been well too?” He said with a friendly smile before he checked his data pad again.

“Oh this thing, I’m recalibrating my helmet’s HUD, took a nasty hit and well… I’ll spare you the details, but I’ve been dragging my feet on it for a while and it’s impairing my vision when I wear my helmet.” Cyran explained, not wanting to bore her with his technical difficulties. With a few more taps and scrolls Cyran finished up what he was doing and set the datapad down.

After that he finished his coffee. If he recalled correctly Valery mentioned something before about being a Jedi Shade? Or something like that. Which was kinda like an assassin or spy who hunted down malicious Force Users. If Cyran was correct in his thinking that meant they were both in pretty good company. Cyran has busted and brought to justice plenty of gangsters, and he was sure Valery has done the same in her respective field.

Before the Zeltron was about to say something a waitress came over with a pot of coffee and asked Cyran if he wanted a refill and get his “date” anything. Turning his attention to her he shook his head some. His face turned a deeper shape from his already vibrant natural hue. Clearly a little embarrassed. “Oh uh, No thank you maam, and she’s not my uh, she’s my… coworker.” Cyran explained not really finding the right word. Looking back to his Jedi companion, the bounty hunter deduced that she probably didn’t want to order anything. “So I think we’re good, thank you though.”
With that said the waitress left the pair to another table. “Sorry, did you actually want to order anything, I shouldn’t have assumed like that?”

"I'm glad to hear it, and I've been well. Just a lot of work, so I'm a bit tired but... I can't complain," she said with a friendly smile in return before she shifted to the topic of his datapad. Valery had never been good at messing around with technology, so she had absolutely no idea what he was doing. Luckily, his explanation was kept simple enough for her to understand. "Good thing you're taking care of it before the mission, then." She kept her voice low enough so people couldn't overhear, but that teasing touch was definitely still there.

Around Cyran, after their first little encounter, Valery was able to feel relaxed enough to not always be overly serious. It was part of the reason why she accepted to work with him again in the first place — normally, she would have just gone for this on her own. Jedi Shadows were trained to operate completely isolated behind enemy lines, so dealing with a Dark Jedi and some criminals on the Alliance's capital shouldn't be too hard.

Still, she appreciated the assistance and good company.

Wanting to start directing the conversation to the mission, Valery leaned forward but before she could even say a word, a waitress appeared with a pot of coffee. Valery leaned back again and just watched quietly, as a rather funny interaction followed between the woman and the Zeltron. He seemed a tad embarrassed, but Valery was grinning from ear to ear, clearly amused at the way that comment took him off-guard.

She made sure that he could pick up on her smirk.

"I'm fine, thank you. Not really a coffee drinker, and I prefer not to eat right before a mission," she said with a more neutral smile again. "Speaking of which, do you have any plans or ideas for where and how to start?"

Although Cyran wouldn’t know this, there was a bit of irony between the two of them being here. Valery only joined this mission because Cyran would be her partner, while Cyran likely would’ve refused the job if he’d known Valery would be joining him. Not wanting to betray her trust again like he had before since he was tasked with a secondary objective, the nature of which he was still unaware of.

Hearing Valery explain how she didn’t plan on drinking or eating anything here made Cyran glad his presumption wasn’t wrong by telling the waitress that they were fine and didn’t need anything. Seeing the Jedi’s clear amusement from his little bit of embarrassment he commented. “Yeah yeah, I bet it was a little funny seeing me lose my composure there. But I’m sure if their roles were reversed here you’d be thrown off too on what to say.” He said with a slight chuckle.

Hearing her ask if he had any plans or ideas for their mission Cyran gave a nod. As he began to unplug his datapad from his helmet to get more ready. “I got some ideas yeah, before meeting you here I did some homework and scouted ahead. They’re operating from an old but fairly large workshop, it’s like a chop shop now for speeders. The other thing is that I believe they know we’re coming after them. I suspect it could be a mole in the police, but given the anonymity of the underworld cops here I’m not entirely sure if that's the case.Cyran explained, having to deal with dirty cops informing his targets in the past and making his job harder.

“Oddly enough they seem content on saying where they are and not leaving. Our VIP Dark Jedi friend I think might be in the basement, so we can’t just drop in from the roof and grab em’. Overall the goons and henchmen working for them don’t seem like much of a threat.”

To Cyran that was odd since the police acted like this whole thing was a very big deal yet from what he saw they seemed like a pretty unremarkable and small-time gang. So low profile it was odd that they were even on the police’s radar. This whole job was making Cyran’s bounty hunter sense tingle, and that something was really off about it, and suspected that whatever data he was supposed to retrieve might be more pressing than he initially thought.

“So with all that to take into account I’m kinda just thinking about this being a pretty blatant raid on the gang. Nothing really fancy, just a straightforward blitz to get in and out, and despite our primary target likely being in the basement, I still think we should drop in from the roof and higher floors and clear them out one by one. That way we don’t allow any backup that’s already in the building that we missed, possibly ambushing us or getting us stuck.” The bounty hunter explained, it wasn’t very complex but that also possibly meant there was some wiggle room for them if there’s a few x factors that Valery and he couldn’t account for.
“So any thoughts, or perhaps do you wanna start moving there now since it isn’t very far even for a walk?”

"Oh no, I would have been perfectly fine," Valery said, now with an even bigger smirk tugging at her lips. She was definitely amused by his embarrassment towards the waitress, and while she herself would have likely been taken aback as well, she had a natural confidence and charisma that rarely got her so overwhelmed that she wasn't sure what to say anymore. At times, it happened if those she was romantically interested in teased her, but with a stable partner, that was quite rare too.

All the more reason to enjoy this.

Cyran then went on to cover the mission details he had discovered during his research, and the frown that slowly began to form on Valery's face likely showed that she was a bit worried. The case had seemed to be quite troubling at first — not only did they hire a skilled mercenary, but they requested a Jedi as well, and not just any. So to hear him talk about the goons like they weren't going to be a problem at all seemed... odd.

Why would they be assigned to this together if it wasn't all that challenging?

"Well," Valery began after he asked for her thoughts, "I think we should be even more careful now. Something feels off about this task, and I'd rather not get caught by surprises. Perhaps the real threat is just this Dark Jedi, and his followers really are no problem, but let's be careful." A true Jedi never underestimated their opponents, after all.

"As for our way in, dropping in from the roof seems fine to me. Do you want me to take us up to the roof quietly? Using tools could alarm them unless you have a different plan for that?" She then asked while she made the move to get up to her feet. If it was a walking distance away, she'd rather get going without vehicles.

Cyran could sense Valery’s concern and he understood why. His clients in the police department weren’t very liberal in the information they shared with him, making Cyran feel pretty foolish for taking on the job now but it was too late for him to regret his decision now. Generally from his experience it’s the more criminal types of clients that have the shady contracts like this.

Hearing what his Jedi friend had to say on the matter had Cyran nodding. “Agreed, the ball is mostly in their court I’m afraid, we’ll be attacking and outnumbered. But against a capable duo like ourselves covering each other's blindspots, I’m sure we’ll come out on top.” Although Cyran hasn’t really personally seen Valery in action, he knew she was a Jedi “Fight Master” or something like that, and was pretty high on their totem pole. For that the bounty hunter seemed to underestimate their opposition unlike her.

Seeing Valery begin to get up from the booth to start heading to their target destination, he listened to what she had to say about their option for getting in from the roof. Cyran grabbed his helmet and placed it over his head. Being greeted with a more well calibrated HUD before taking his Jetpack too to fix to his backside. “Take us up to the roof quietly?” The zeltron repeated, his voice slightly different from the helmet’s speakers. Her question gave him the mental image of Valery carrying him up onto the roof with him in her arms. Which was kinda funny but also a tad bit disheartening. Although that probably wasn't what she meant. “Well if you’re worried about my Jetpack alerting them I got other gadgets to get up there that aren’t as flashy and loud. But I won’t protest if you wanna make me float up there with your magic.”

Cyran wasn’t too worried about her being able to do so with her more mystical capabilities. Valery could probably do some kind of triple front flip before gracefully landing on the roof with little to no attention drawn to herself. He wasn’t of any technology that might be able to detect that. Perhaps the Dark Jedi could, but that wasn’t something Cyran was sure about.

Nonetheless got up next to her ready to make their way out of the dinner. Of course not before pulling out a small credit ship and placing it on the booth table as a tip. After which he spoke. “Fun fact, where I’m from tipping is sorta seen as sleazy and taboo.” Imagine his surprise when he didn’t do that offworld when it was expected of him and he came off as cheap and insulting. But with that little fun factoid out of the way he was ready to make the short walk over to the chop shop.

"Oh, we'll definitely be fine," Valery said with confidence and a smirk to back it up. "But I always want to make sure that we don't underestimate our opponents too much." Their targets were likely not well-trained and hopefully had no special equipment either. So a mercenary armed to the teeth and the Sword should be able to handle this together. As long as they carefully crafted their plans and didn't just rush inside.

Which brought her to the topic of infiltration.

"Keep your gadgets in case we need them later. I'll quietly lift you up to the roof and jump there myself. That way they don't detect us, and as long as I keep my Force presence buried, the Dark Jedi will not sense me either." This was absolutely not the first time that she had infiltrated a building with a trained Force-sensitive inside — it had once been her primary focus to do just that, albeit with some skills she couldn't use when she also had to bring Cyran along.

The two then got up from their seats, left behind a tip and Valery stopped when he commented about it. "Really? I take it people there are just paid a good enough wage, then?" she asked, right as she left the cantina and began to walk along the streets toward their target. Nobody knew who they were, and what they were really planning, so the best way to not stand out was to just walk among the people and stick to the sidewalks.

Soon enough, the building they were going to infiltrate became visible, and Valery would turn to him once again, "Ready to head up there? I promise that it's safe, but it might feel strange to be lifted all the way up there. Especially if you have a fear of heights," she said with a soft chuckle.

Valery was right to still be wary of the mission. Even against capable double trouble like them a well timed trap or trick could very quickly cripple their efforts. Taking things a little more sneaky may likely prove more fruitful than Cyran’s more loud shock and awe approach to these sorts of things.

When the pair began to leave he noted her comment on workers getting a better wage. “Yeah there’s that, and a nice dining experience can turn sour when you need to do math. Also tips are kinda viewed like bribes which can make people feel uncomfortable.” There was the idea where he was from that tips sometimes came with the expectation for better service and food.

Making their way along the streets to the chop shop, the undercity shows off some of its (in)famous charm and character. The grim sunless realm of overcrowded misery. Cyran didn’t like it, here or even on Coruscant’s other contemporaries. Ecumnopolises were always a sore spot in the planets that Cyran has visited. Many of them have a bad vibe that rubbed someone like him the wrong way. The emotions were so negative, even in the upper city. Things might look better on the surface, but the people seem just as dead inside.

Before they reached their destination Cyran turned to Valery and asked. “Hey Val, do you feel it too? With your whole sensitivity thing? You’ve been across the galaxy, do city planets just have this gloominess to them or is it just me?” He’d always felt that since he started his interstellar nomadic lifestyle as a bounty hunter. Maybe she did too, but not as severely since it wasn't such a far cry from places like his homeworld.

However, soon enough the duo got to the chop shop. From the outside it did seem like a pretty unremarkable establishment. Hearing Valery’s words he faced her and nodded. Chuckling some he remarked. “Trust me, with this.” He pointed his thumb back towards his jetpack. “A fear of heights is a luxury I can’t afford, I’ll be fine. Plus I have faith in you not to drop me or anything.” Cyran explained, a thrill seeker like him was more often a little too eager to launch himself into the air or jump from very high places. His apprentice not so much, having gotten themselves pretty hurt when Cyran tried to train them on aerial maneuvering and jetpacks.

With a quick little pat down Cyran checked to make sure he had all the gear he felt he needed for the evening’s mission. Then gave Valery a thumbs up, “Ready when you are partner!” It felt a little nice to be able to say that since this time she wasn't his client and instead his "coworker" like he mentioned before.

For Valery, the trip through Coruscant's underworld wasn't anything new, and nothing she really gave much thought to either. The atmosphere, while unpleasant, was something she had gotten used to after years of service as a Jedi Shadow. She had seen the darkest corners of the Galaxy, both in terms of criminal activity and users of the Dark Side. It had once been an overwhelming feeling, but now it was almost a part of daily life.

Cyran's question, however, got her to stop and blink. "I... usually don't think much about it. But I suppose they do," Valery answered while she looked around. "I always preferred planets that felt more natural, but after being here for so long, I tend to filter out most of what I sense. Until I have to focus on it." Looking at him for a moment longer, she began to wonder just how difficult it could be for him to handle it all.

Zeltrons had their own ways of feeling the emotional atmosphere, and Coruscant's underworld was... dark.

Soon enough, they reached their destination, and with his approval of her plan, she was getting ready. "Glad you trust me because this will be... different." She flashed him a grin and rather quickly extended a hand to wrap the tendrils of the Force around him like an invisible grip. With considerable speed, she then moved him up into the air — a quiet process as long as he didn't scream or make any sound.

Once he was up on the roof, Valery bent through her knees and exploded up into the air to make a soft, elegant landing just on the edge. "There we go," Valery said before dipping her head in a bow as if she had just finished her performance for the day. "Now, how do you propose we get inside?"

Cyran noted her answer to his query, Valery definitely seemed to understand where he was coming from. Likely from The Force offering a similar yet still distinct form of telepathic connection to others around her. It also sounded pretty nice to be able to filter all of it out unless needed. Growing up with hedonistic values made every planet visit a bit of a culture shock, but never to the same degree as planets like the capital here. Perhaps the bounty hunter might never get used to it, and maybe it should stay that way. Or he might become tolerant and numb to the darkness.

To the zeltron that was a scary thought, when fighting monsters, be sure not to become one yourself…

. . .

Valery wasn’t wrong about it being different. Getting hoisted up into the air from a firm yet unseen force was uncanny to say the least. Causing Cycran to involuntarily gasp some form the odd sensation of it. Like being on a roller coaster without seeing the tracks or cart you were riding but was still moving. But he was quite other than for the gasp he gave.

Being placed on the roof now Cyran’s legs wobbled a bit as he was let go but he still stood up straight. Looking back down at Valery he watched as she launched herself up into the air and gracefully landed next to him. With her bow Cyran gave a slight chuckle and a little, quiet clap of approval. “Hehe, ten points for Miss Nobel.” Perhaps she was in the wrong career field, and could make it big as a gymnast or acrobatics performer. Although she might be a tiny bit over qualified to join the circus, being a legendary war hero of the republic might be more important.

Hearing her words about how they might get in now Cyran looked around and scanned the area. There were some large vents on the roof, but crawling around in the building’s ventilation system would be one, pretty slow and cumbersome, and two very loud with the pair rattling around inside. However, remarkably there was a maintenance hatch on the roof, that looks like in the days of yesteryear could’ve been a sunroof at some point. If so that would mean this building is ancient as it was around when this current level was on the surface and could see the sky. But the two weren’t urban archaeologists here to uncover old buildings and architecture to document for a museum. Stepping over to the hatch Cyran checked it out. “This might be our best shot.” it was locked but was connected to a small computer terminal.

From one of his vambraces came a little scomp link like one would find on an astromech droid and plugged into the terminal. “Not as flashy as scaling two storeys in a single jump, but I should be able to get us in.” Behind Cyran’s visor his HUD flashed with info. “Not as well tuned as my astromech but I’ve picked up a few tricks from them…” With a few moments of slicing into the computer terminal he retracted his scomp link back into his vambrace and glanced up to Valery. “And it should be open now, and since the network was connected with the rest of the building all the other doors should be unlocked too for us.” Gently he opened the roof maintenance hatch and gave a peek inside. “I don’t see anyone, so we should be clear for entry.” With that he stood up and unholstered one of his blaster pistols, ready to start the hard part of the mission.

"I'm glad you approve," she said softly, and with a slightly smug grin. It was all joking around to her, and she hadn't used the Force for no good reason to get up to the roof, so she didn't mind a little bit of banter. But as quickly as the jokes came, she also shifted her focus back to the mission, and in this case, to a way inside. With her Shadow skills, she could technically be invisible and even pass through walls, but none of that was useful when there were others to account for.

They needed a way inside they could both take because they had to stay together as much as possible.

Luckily, Cyran quickly spotted an old hatch and approached it. The thing was locked and while Valery had some basic slicing glove integrated into her vambrace, she was actually quite terrible at opening locks or messing around with technology. "Well, to me this is more impressive than jumping up several stories," Valery told him with a smirk. It was all a matter of perspective — using the Force was as natural to an experienced Jedi as walking or riding a speeder, but she had no tech skills.

Another reason why the pairing between her and Cyran would work out quite well for this mission.

The lock soon opened and after Cyran had glanced inside to make sure it was safe, the time had come for the more difficult part of the mission. "I'll go in first just in case we're detected. I can provide cover with my lightsaber." Ideally, if they got themselves into a fight, she'd be at the front to deflect incoming fire and pressure their enemy, while he used his range advantage to pick off targets.

"I can sense several groups down below us, and a few lone individuals." She turned to him and tapped her lightsaber, "We can't go unnoticed for too long."

It really was a matter of perspective, Cyran viewed Force Sensitivity and its powers as just another trait someone could be born with, like height, skin color, race, or a natural talent. Just like how a Sith or Dark Jedi could cause a lot of harm by abusing their talents, he could do with his tech and skills. With great power came a great responsibility. “I believe that people are frequently impressed by what they themselves can’t or haven’t done. Even talented people can be impressed when underestimating someone else's skill.”

Then suddenly Cyran began to get some sort of audio message from an unknown caller. The info displayed to him under his helmet. Which was annoying, he tried not to get distracted like this while on duty. When calibrating his HUD earlier in the dinner he must’ve accidentally unmuted his notifications. Disregarding the message, he sounded off some of his annoyance. “Ugh, sorry, I just got an annoying message, probably just a droid call anyways.” Cyran explained to Valery, checking the small data pad on his vambrace to confirm that it was coming from someone he didn’t recognize.

Bringing his focus back to his partner Cyran nodded, “That’s actually a pretty good idea, considering how talented your former pupil Miss Iris was at thwarting my blaster when training with her, I have no doubt you’ll provide a great defense.” The zeltron commented while also remembering just how frustrating it was to get through the newly knighted Jedi’s defense.

“Yeah I imagined we could also be sneaky for so long, but every goon we neutralize beforehand is one less thing we'll need to deal with when things get more heated. I guess you should drop down first then, I’ll be right behind you.” With that said once Valery entered he would soon follow but just before he did Cyran then got another notification. Rolling his eyes behind his visor he quickly checked the small data pad on his vambrace. Where he could only read the first part of the message.

“Urgent DO NOT Ignore: New details attached for Mr.Vaas regar-” was all he managed to read from the small screen strapped to his arm. Pressing a command to view the whole message on his HUD from the corner of his vision so it wasn’t in the way. Afterwhich Cyran finally followed Valery into the building from behind.

“Urgent DO NOT Ignore: New details attached for Mr. Vaas regarding the contract. Firstly, the name of the “Dark Jedi” target is Vernmax Marwalt who is to be apprehended as safely as possible. Secondly he MUST NOT be killed. We are aware of your less than lethal reputation however, we are less confident in your Jedi partner Valery Noble.

Along with this new information your top priority should still be to retrieve data on Vernmax’s personal computer. Sensitive information that is of importance and high interest to the SBI.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this and or any that may have arised from the lack of prior information. We in the Bureau were unaware of the Underworld Police’s intentions to delegate this job to you Mr. Vaas.

Sincerely,

Special Agent Nichole Humcro”

No wonder the contract seemed so off. If this was true then and this “Special Agent” really was from the Sente Bureau of Intelligence. Then this was likely a very serious job, more so then he’d originally imagined. Although Cyran wasn’t really aware of Valery’s interest in non-lethality, he didn’t think he’d need too much worry about her executing the Dark Jedi. However, there was likely still a lot more to this than was known yet.

"Alright, I'm going in," Valery said but while she readied herself to get down into the building, she also worried some. The message he got seemed to have been a little distracting, and the last thing they needed now was for him to lose his focus right as they got into the difficult part of their assignment. But for now, he followed after her, so she dropped down and quickly looked around to find nothing. She could feel people up ahead, and their voices faintly reached the pair, but there was no reason to worry just yet.

"Alright, let's sneak up on them and take them out. As you said, the more we can neutralize before we really get noticed, the better." Of course, she had no intentions to kill the goons here — she was hoping to just take them down and perhaps confine them somewhere. But in the heat of a fight, it was not always so easy to subdue someone without harming them.

She was ready to do what was necessary to defend herself and complete the mission.

But right as Valery was about to start moving, she noticed that he had stopped again. "Cyran?" she asked, not able to see the message he was reading. "What's up? Something wrong?" Her tone likely showed that she was a little more worried than before. This was not the time for bad news, after all.

"We really need to get moving. It's a group of five, and I don't think they'll stay there for long."

Cyran never really got the vibe that Valery was a killer. Then again he wasn’t really sure what a Jedi of her calibur was capable of or got up to. He didn’t know if a Jedi Shadow was more like a bounty hunter, or an assassin.

Keeping close behind when Cyran heard her call his name his T shaped visor facing her and gave a slight shake with his head. “No no, nothing’s wrong.” He whispered through his helmet. Which wasn’t honest, but he sensed her worrying and wanted to tell her anything that would likely make her more concerned. “Like I said, probably just a spam call or something like that.”

He didn’t doubt that there was a group of 5 very close by, the duo could hear them from where they were standing as the group talked about something. From around the corner where Cyran and Valery stood two were visible talking to what was likely three others from inside a room. Before Cyran spoke, one of them spoke up about something.

“Well can the two of you check the roof access hatch. I thought I heard something down the hall there. And our magic friend downstairs is worried about people looking for him. Make sure it’s at least locked up tight.” With a reluctant tone the pair agree before mentioning something else of less importance.

After which Cyran finally spoke up. “Sounds like two are on their way to where we are now. You take out the one on our right I’ll get whoever’s on the left okay? Fast and quiet.” After saying that, the group seems to split up. Closing the door to the room the rest of them were in. The two goons soon began to make their way over to Valery and Cyran where the bounty hunter got himself ready as he upholstered one of his blaster pistols. Only a moment later did they turn the corner and two duos came face to face.

"Right..." Valery said when he labeled it as a spam call. She wasn't convinced at all but if it was really important to the mission, he would have told her, right? So deciding that it wasn't worth pushing the subject further, Valery focused on their task again and turned her gaze down the hallway. She could still feel those people up ahead, and with how close they had gotten, she could now hear them as well.

2 were outside, guarding a door, and the other three remained inside.

"Heard that? Our main target is confirmed to be down below." Not that she really needed the confirmation — she could feel his dark presence, after all. But it was still a relief to know that everything was going according to plan. As long as they maintained this momentum, everything would be alright.

But confirmation wasn't all they talked about.

They had made it clear that they were going to check the roof access hatch, which meant they'd be coming straight for both Valery and Cyran. "I've got the right one. Fast and quiet," Valery assured him while she waited. The moment the pair of armed thugs came around the corner, Valery raised a hand to telekinetically freeze the one on the right. He couldn't move, shoot, or even talk in her grip.

Then, with a quick punch to the face, Valery knocked him out. To make sure he wouldn't be a problem later, though, Valery clenched her fist and crushed his weapon with the Force.

"You got any useful gadgets to take care of the three inside that room? A stun grenade, a flashbang, or anything?" Valery asked, expecting that Cyran would have taken out the other.

Cyran did take note too on the fact that they mentioned where the Dark Jedi was. He couldn’t sense them like Valery could but it did narrow things down some. Also that they did indeed know they were being targeted.

But what mattered now was making sure that their cover wasn’t blown. When the two thugs came around the corner and were greeted with Valery and Cyran. The bounty hunter simply focused on his adversary, fully confident Valery could take hers down without any trouble.

What was important was that they couldn’t raise an alarm or call out to their friends. Cyran quickly extended his wrist out to the thug where a glowing yellow wire shot out from his vambrace and rapidly coiled around the thug’s neck silencing them. Also causing them to reach for the grappling line rather than their weapon.

With a strong tug Cyran yoinked the man down toward him, where their face met the bounty hunters knee pad and with a nasty hit to the head like that the thug was out cold. To prevent their body from hitting the floor he then gently lowered them to the ground from the wire on his vambrace before it uncoiled and retracted back into itself.

After which he went for their weapon, as Valery asked if he had any gadgets to use on the trio in the room. Looking up at her with the thugs' weapon in his hands, Cyran nodded. While he replied Cyran managed to do a quick field strip of the weapon he took. He couldn’t telekinetically crush it, so instead just took it apart so it wasn’t readily available.

“Yeah I do, you sure you wanna use it on the rest of them up here, once we do that the rest area gonna know up here.” Flashbangs were noisy weapons, great for disorienting multiple opponents with shock and awe, but not sneaky at all. Standing up next to her the bounty hunter awaited her answer. He was fine with using the flashbang on the three in the room. He just wanted to make sure that she understood that once they did things would start getting a lot more intense.

"Hmm, that's a good point," Valery said after Cyran mentioned that the flashbang would likely alert others in the building. It didn't really seem necessary to expose themselves already, so she let out a soft sigh and quickly changed her plan. "Alright, I'll burst through and freeze them all telekinetically. It will make sure they can't move, but they might be able to scream if they are given enough time."

She stepped passed him and looked around the corner and into the hallway to make sure nobody else was following the pair they had just taken out. Seeing none, she turned back to Cyran.

"If you can stun them, I'll be able to slowly lower them to the ground so no sound is made." If he agreed to this plan, Valery would already start moving towards the closed door. She hadn't told him how she planned to get through that, but there was a reason for it. Breaking the door was the easy part.

With a tap of her hand against the metal, large cracks formed instantly and the whole door shattered into tiny fragments that barely made any noise as they fell to the floor. Immediately, the three guards got up with shock and awe in their eyes, but it was already too late. An extended hand from Valery forced a powerful grip on their bodies.

They couldn't move.

Cyran agreed, it wasn’t yet necessary to use a tool like a flashbang and reveal themselves at the moment. After Valery changed the plan to be more sneaky he nodded, believing that he could indeed knock out three stationary opponents.

Approaching the door Jedi he watched with a cocked eyebrow under his helmet, wondering what Valery was doing by tapping the door. He imagined that she was gonna use the Force in some mysterious way to allow them access. What he didn’t expect was for it to instantly shatter like glass into millions of little pieces. Could she do that to people too?

For only a moment Cyran stood there in bewilderment along with the thugs at what just happened. But soon was brought back to reality and snapped into action. As all froze from the Jedi’s telekinetic grip Cyran stepped in quickly and lifted his arms towards two of the thugs. The bounty hunter already had pretty decent accuracy but he always let the aim assist targeting computer in his helmet aid him.

With his choice of weapon, his HUD locked onto the three of them. Targeting their necks as, once each target was accounted for three tranquilizing darts shot out from the bounty hunter. Two from each fambrace and one from a small rocket pad from his knee. Each projectile was surprisingly quiet. The darts punctured their neck. The paralyzing agents affect their vocal cords first and soon the rest of their bodies. Removing their ability to call out and alert anyone else of the duo’s presence. The small darts were too small to cause any serious damage to their necks as well. Just little pricks.

Turning back to face Valery Cyran gave her a thumbs up before speaking.
"These three will be down for count for a while now. Even if one manages to wake back up they'll be too groggy and hungover to be much of a threat." Cyran explained to reassure his partner. The room they were in seemed to be something like an office space. If this was a legit repair shop likely where the manager would, well, manage the business. Cyran wondered if there was thinking here to utilize against more of the thugs in the building bellow them. Even crminal evidence would be useful to provide for the authorities, for a decent price of course.

"Huh, didn't know you had those darts," Valery said after she watched him use darts to put the thugs to sleep. A stun round from a blaster would have worked too, but people tended to wake up much faster from those. These darts would keep them down for a while, and hopefully, until after they were long gone.

"Alright, we don't have time to go through everything here, so grab what's important." Without wasting another second, Valery hooked a few datapads up to her vambrace and downloaded all of its contents into the integrated computer. She wasn't quite sure what Cyran would be able to retrieve, but there was sadly very little time to think or talk about it.

They had a Dark Jedi to take down, and she feared that if he got even just a faint feeling that something was wrong, he'd escape and go into hiding.

She couldn't allow that to happen.

"Here's an idea. We could use the elevator shaft to get down to the basement? Skip some of the floors so we don't have to expose ourselves," Valery proposed with a smirk. "It's risky but I don't really care about these goons as much as I do about their leader."
