Cyran nodded, “Hehe, yep, a lot of folks like myself keep hidden arsenals on them.” By that he meant other bounty hunters and or Mandalorians. He listened to Valery mention possibly wealth of data that the room they were in had in regards to the criminal operations here. “True, but after we're done here we could have time to sift through the information here.” Then again it’s hard to tell if time was really on their side or not and if they’d be able to back track their way up here, especially in regards to Valery’s new idea.

“Hmm, that sounds pretty good actually, when I sliced us into the roof hatch, I got a good idea of the building’s layout. There’s also stairs that lead into a basement, but I managed to block that off as well as the elevator so the rest of the goons in here can’t reach us, and the Dark Jedi won’t be able to escape.”

To Cyran it seemed like a great idea, that way they could avoid the rest of their adversaries. Though that means their potential bounties might be lost with them, they also weren’t Cyran’s primary objective, not even the Dark Jedi was. Cyran exited the room and made his way to the elevator, close by the stairs leading down. Like with the roof hatch, his scomp link extended out from his vambrace and slotted into an access port into the elevator. Trying to give himself administrative control to the building like he had with the doors. That way he could block off the elevator was a means of escape or as a way for the rest of the thugs to get to them. “Now, ready to go when you are.”

"Perfect," Valery said with an appreciative grin. With the goons not able to reach them and the Dark Jedi unable to escape, this mission almost couldn't fail anymore. If she had been on her own, the approach would have been very different, so more and more she began to appreciate just how much he added to this little team.

All that remained now was going down there to finish the job and perhaps circle back up if time and circumstances allowed it.

"Alright, I'll jump down first. You should probably use your grappling hook for this one." She could also telekinetically lower him, but it didn't seem necessary. So with that out of the way, Valery waited for him to open the door using the scomplink, and jumped down from their current level all the way into the basement.

It would have been a guaranteed death if it wasn't for the Force cushioning the fall. Once she was down, Valery looked up and waited for Cyran to join her. "He's cornered, so I'm no longer going to suppress my presence," she told him before the veil that had cloaked her signature in the Force began to fade.

She immediately knew that the Dark Jedi picked up on it, as his corruption seemed to shift in the Force.

"He knows we're here now."

Making sure that the pair won’t be ambushed from Cyran continued to add some redundant measures so they’d be safe from the rest of their adversaries. “Alright, I’ll be right behind you Val.” Cyran said as they jumped down the elevator shaft. As she did he watched, leaning over the ledge. Partly in curious fascination to see someone fall down a few stories. Also to make sure she didn’t accidentally get herself hurt.

Still up at the top, Cyran removed him when Valery unveiled herself in the Force. Very soon after she did there was a sort of eeriness. Cyran had a sense of the others in the building and was certain Valery did too, likely better even. After she began to no longer suppress her presence in The Force something happened to all of the thugs in the rest of the building. They all felt very different, to Cyran at least they went from feeling like individuals, to all sharing one feeling, and it was Uncanny for the Zeltron.

“Val… Do you sense that too?” She likely would, like upstairs the basement wasn’t very large. The entrance to the elevator shaft was open to the rest of it. It was a short hallway with entrances flanking either side opening to other rooms, and at the end of which was a closed door. Behind which was where Valery could sense the Dark Jedi. Their negative energy is worming its way out of their room and permeating across the entire building. That same darkness is now being shared with the rest of the thugs as well. In the far corner of the fall, from the ceiling was what seemed to be a security camera overlooking the basement, and was trained on Valery.

From above in the elevator shaft Cyran had begun to finally use his Grappling Hook to get himself down with his partner. For the bounty hunter everything felt off. However, this whole job felt off from the start.

"I feel it," Valery confirmed when her senses picked up on a shift inside the building. The distinct presences of the thugs they had avoided all blended together in darkness, and at its core stood the Dark Jedi. Had he clouded them in darkness somehow in an attempt to obscure reality? Or was he connecting to the people under his command in unorthodox ways she wasn't overly familiar with?

Whatever it was, the whole aura felt even more off than it already had.

Looking up, Valery spotted the security camera that seemed to be focused on her, flashed a grin at it, and raised a hand to crush it to pieces with the Force. They already knew she was coming, but she wanted to send them a message. She was coming. With Cyran soon making his way down, Valery readied herself and began to step forward.

"You got those stun grenades still? Let's open with those, and I'll engage immediately," Valery proposed. "I don't want to give him time to get into his monologue."

Cyran himself really couldn’t tell why the feeling between all the goons in the building changed, and he didn’t want to find out. Descending down the elevator, once he got down he was able to watch Valery telekinetically crush what seemed to be some kind of camera.

Looking to the side where the door to the stairs going back up was, Cyran noted. “We should still be good here. Unless the thugs upstairs have plastic explosives or some heavy duty power tools they shouldn’t be able to get to us.” Which he thought was pretty good. Even though they were in a garage/chop shop type of establishment. The zeltron doubted that they would be able to utilize the mechanics tools upstairs down here.

Turning his attention back to Valery, Cyran nodded. “Yep, a classic breach and sting type deal.” He said before pulling out the flashbang grenade. Just throwing one of those in the room should do a lot to help subdue the Dark Jedi. The door wasn’t locked, Cyran had already made sure of that prior when slicing with his scomplink. “Okay, I'll crack open the door, toss the grenade in, then close the door. After it goes off you work your magic okay? They won’t know what hit’em, let alone be able to monologue, haha.” He chuckled some, was that something Sith and Dark Jedi tended to do?

Readying himself by the door, Cyran pulled the pin on the grenade. “Ready?” He asked, before cracking open the door, to toss it in. At least that’s what he expected. The moment Cyran cracked open the door Valery could feel more dark force energy. As the bounty hunter parted with the grenade and tried to close the door he couldn’t, like it was stuck or jammed. Right after the grenade seemed to fly right back towards Cyran, telekinetically knocked away from the room. Not good, considering the timer was already set. Seemingly out of pure instinct the bounty hunter caught the grenade and clenched up for half a second. Turning away from Valery, Cyran ended up tanking the blast from the flashbang. Holding it close to him.

From his perspective, Cyran was wearing armor, Valery wasn’t, so he could take the hit. Although realistically through the Force she could’ve likely dampened the damage some. But he wasn’t going to risk her safety on things he didn’t understand, like Force powers. The extremely loud and bright bang knocked Cyran into the wall. Where he collapsed. Despite grabbing the grenade when it went off his crush, giants seemed to keep his hands intact. The main damage one could see was some burns on his arms. Where he didn’t really have any cover. He was alive, but hurt and knocked out. Saved by his armor. The Dark Jedi still hid in the room behind the door.

"Sounds like a plan, I'm ready," Valery assured him after he went over the details of their attack. With the Dark Jedi hopefully stunned, she'd be able to use her immense speed and more aggressive style of fighting to overwhelm their enemy. It would end before he was given a chance to escalate the fight and potentially draw in reinforcements, or even make an escape. Because one way or another, this Dark Jedi was going to have to come up with some kind of plan.

He stood no chance against her, let alone when she fought together with Cyran.

Cyran then pushed forward with the flashbang in hand, opened the door, and tossed it inside. But moments before she expected to hear that familiar bang, a tremor in the Force occurred, and the grenade reappeared. Valery's eyes widened and she quickly wanted to project a Barrier to shield them, but Cyran acted quicker and used his own body to shield her against the blast.

Bang.

Valery winced and turned around to see Cyran on the floor, hurt and knocked unconscious. "Cyran!" she called out, and while she wanted to turn to help him, the Dark Jedi made his move. Dressed in black robes, the Zabrak appeared with a crimson blade and swept it toward Valery's back, hoping to kill her while she wanted to help her companion.

Luckily, Valery had felt him coming and quickly spun around to draw up her blade into a guard. The two lightsabers clashed and as their plasma blades hissed against each other, Valery made eye contact with him.

Come on Cyran, get up... she thought, before pushing her enemy back a few steps.

From the look of things Cyran was out cold. Even with the armor the concussive force of the flashbang likely rattled him to the bone. Stepping back the zabrak kept their guard up, and his fiery eyes shot a quick look to the fallen bounty hunter before glaring back at Valery. “You’re not supposed to be here Jedi…” He remarked, “They’d assured me there would be no involvement of your kind, only the bounty hunter, the deal's off!” What was the Zabrak referring to? It sounded as though there was an expectation for something else.

After they spoke a telepathic tremor unleashed from the Dark Jedi, an unspoken command, not for Valery, but the thugs upstairs from them. Following that there was some commotion heard from above where they were. With that the zabrak lunged back towards Valery, their blade slashing violently towards her. There was some skill in it, but it was clear that it didn’t come from proper lightsaber training. Attacking the Jedi more like it was a real sword made of metal and one made of plasma. Like a bastardization of forms 2 makashi and form 5 djem-so. It wouldn't be much of a threat to Valery to thwart their attacks, but their moves were economical enough to make any counter attacks difficult.

The zabrak, seemed very wary of Valery, and likely knew they wouldn’t stand much of a chance against her. Clearly not a Sith who would want to jump at the opportunity, no matter how unlikely, to beast Valery in single combat. The Dark Jedi was cautious.

Eventually from the door leading to the stairs there was some knocking and banging, the thugs from upstairs seemed to try and get in. But couldn’t, and were unable to ambush Valery during her fight. Good thing Cyran had overridden the door and locked it prior so that wouldn’t happen. Still though the thugs sounded determined to get into the basement.

The deal?

Valery frowned and briefly glanced down at Cyran. Had he made some kind of deal with this Dark Jedi? But why hadn't he said anything, and why would he have agreed to work with her, then? It didn't make sense to her at all, so even though it made her feel highly conflicted, she set aside her thoughts and focused on what mattered most right now: defeating this Dark Jedi and making sure that his terror stopped.

Following a tremor in the Force, Valery knew that her time was running short — the thugs they had left behind were summoned, and even though they couldn't easily get inside, they'd eventually find a way. So as her clash with the Dark Jedi continued, she not only defended herself but showed why exactly she was the Sword. Her tactics were far more aggressive than most Jedi, so each parry would be followed with a counter-attack, and no matter what he did, she did not relent.

She kept adding pressure, knowing that he'd not be able to defeat her.

But, in an attempt to finish this fight before the thugs could reach her, Valery decided on a signature move of her. It started with a dash to close the distance, and a sweeping strike of her lightsaber. But right as it was about to crash into his blade, her bond to the world around her rapidly changed. She phased all the way through him, ending up behind him in the process, hoping that the sudden loss of counter-pressure would off-balance him.

Valery then spun around behind him and used her rotational momentum to deliver a powerful strike aimed at his back.

Valery was powerful and had a practical approach to these things. It wasn’t even a contest between the two of them. Maybe against just Cyran the Dark Jedi would stand more of a chance, but maybe he would pull some unforeseen gizmo out and end a fight quickly as well. The Dark Jedi really seemed more like a lost larper, veiled in the image of a Sith.

In the blink of an eye the duel decisively went into Valery’s favor, the Dark Jedi was confused and thrown off after her phasing through him. Knowing she was behind him he quickly tried to face her again but it was too late. However, her strike meant for the zabrak’s back missed its initial target. With them mid spin to try and face her it ended up lopping off his arm. Disarming them both of their weapon and actual appendage.

The Dark Jedi hadn’t even realized what happened yet before they lost balance and fell over, their back colliding with the floor. It wasn’t until he tried to lift himself back up that he finally noticed his missing arm. The suddenness, shock and thrill of the fight numbed the burning yet missing sensation. Yelling out in fright and anguish he grabbed his new stump. Now the anxiety that filled the Dark Jedi sense Valery had sensed him was replaced with fear. With this the mental focus on dominating the thugs in the building and the mental chains he had on them broke. Valery could sense that and now they lost their desire to enter the room, likely trying to flee while they still can.

“Gahhhh! Please, I beg you d-don’t kill me!” The zabrak called out to his opponent. Cowering from her on the floor. “T-they told me I’d be safe, they gave me their word!” He then pointed with their one and only hand, shakingly, towards the room they were hiding in prior. “Just take it! It’s in there, that’s what They wanted right? It’s all there.” The Dark Jedi spoke like she was in the know of something. Before gripping his wound painfully once more. With finally seeing him more closely, he was rather quite young, no older than 20 at that.

Meanwhile Cyran was still out cold, and may warrant a scolding afterwards depending on how his partner might feel. It seemed as though he might have been keeping secrets and betrayed her trust again. But the door was open for Valery to investigate what the Dark Jedi was talking about, it’s not like he was going anywhere now not with the knowledge that Valery would chase him down.

The intensity in Valery's eyes didn't fade, even as he fell down onto his back and held the stump. She wasn't fond of having to harm anybody, and she certainly despised maiming people. But by taking his arm, she had ensured that he wouldn't be able to fight back anymore, and that meant he'd be able to live. To make sure he wouldn't try to crawl away, Valery kept her blade low and pointed it down at him.

She no longer intended to kill him, but she made it very clear that he wasn't going anywhere.

"I'm going to put you behind bars, and if you know what's right for you, then you'll try nothing." She glanced over to Cyran then, who was still unconscious. But knowing that he had the answers to all of her questions, she decided to walk over and first attempt to wake him up. Also because she figured it'd be a bad idea to leave him unconscious with the Dark Jedi — he could be turned into a hostage that way.

"Cyran?" she asked as she began to shake his body. "Cyran, wake up. It's me, Valery," she said, now getting a little rougher if he wasn't opening his eyes already.

"The fight is over."

The Dark Jedi knew too well that he shouldn’t try any funny business and was still too freaked out to even contemplate doing anything. He just didn’t want to die. Cyran on the other hand was just laying there until Valery began to shake his body and call out his name.

From behind his helmet she could hear a pained groan as he seemed to regain consciousness. Couching some he turned his head up to look at Valery. “W-huh?” It took the bounty hunter a moment to realize what was happening and what she said. Hearing a loud ringing in his ears didn’t help any as it made discerning her words more difficult. But since he had his helmet and it muffled the impact, the flashbang didn’t entirely deafen him. “V-Valery, did you get hurt?” Even dazed and confused it was clear where his concern was.

Cyran raised his hands and pulled off his helmet, allowing him to breathe better and not feel so claustrophobic. His bright blue eyes were pretty dilated too as he looked around trying to make sense of the situation. “Fight?” He asked before looking over and seeing the Dark Jedi on the ground. Looking back at her and seeing that she didn’t seem injured or hurt he leaned back and let out an exhausted sigh. “Thank goodness.” He didn’t know yet that Valery likely had some questions for him.

"I'm fine," she assured him. "I didn't get hurt but the Dark Jedi is... well..." she looked over her shoulder and let out a soft sigh. For a target who was going to be captured, he had gotten more hurt than she would have liked, and Valery was no fan of instilling fear in others either. But right now, she just hoped he would sit still and not make things even worse. There was no reason for anybody to die or get even more hurt today.

Not even him.

"But I do have a question for you..." she looked back at Cyran, her expression showing mostly confusion, but almost a sense of betrayal as well. She didn't want to draw any conclusions just yet, but it definitely seemed like he had kept something important from her.

"The Dark Jedi said that he was assured there would be no Jedi involvement and that you were supposed to come alone. He mentioned a deal," she said rather directly to confront the bounty hunger. "Why did he know you were coming, and what kind of deal did you make?" she demanded, her tone still friendly enough, but she clearly wanted honesty.

Seeing what Valery meant about the Dark Jedi Cyran gave a slight shrug, these things happen. They weren’t dead and limbs could be replaced, either with cybernetics or cloned. Cyran then heard she had a question. He looked up at her wondering what that might be as his head finally began to clear and he could think better.

However, sensing how she was feeling he almost instantly knew what was up before she even had to ask. It seemed as though he’d betrayed her once again while on the job. Although what was odd to him was the fact that the Dark Jedi knew about Cyran but not Valery. Hearing that he’d made a deal with them Cyran shook his head slightly. “I never made any sort of deal with the Dark Jedi, but I can tell you what I do know.” Cyran then painfully maneuvered himself some so that he was in a more comfortable and upright position.

“To my knowledge this job was commissioned by the SBI, Senate Bureau of Intelligence. Whoever our friend here is, they got some sort of business with the Senate. Why? I ain’t got a clue. They wanted me to apprehend the Dark Jedi, who’s name is Vernmax Marwalt by the way.” Cyran tried to explain, come to think of it, that the name wasn’t very zabrak sounding. Nonetheless the zeltron continued. Closing his eyes, Cyran tried to think a bit. “My best guess is that the SBI tipped him off to my arrival but since they seem to have a habit of leaving out crucial information they didn't mention you. Also what was more important for me was not to apprehend Vernamx but to secure sensitive data on their personal computer. Whatever is there is of special interest to the SBI.” Even Cyran wasn’t fully in the know and could only deduce what was really going on. But he was more in the know than Valery and he shouldn’t have kept that from her. Whoever Vernmax was, they had some sort of connection to the senate, possibly one that the SBI didn’t want Valery to know about as a Jedi. Why they might want to keep that a secret from her, he had no idea. But for the most part the cat was out of the bag it seemed.

"I'm sorry Valery, I shouldn't have withheld that information from you. I'm used to keeping my mouth closed for client confidentiality in my line of work. But that's no excuse. I just tried to get my job here done with you being none the wiser, and avoid well, this..." He explained his reasoning further, referring to this confrontation in general at the end. He knew it as bad and sneaky, and didn't wanna even try and justify it. "I think you should see what is on this guys computer, what it is that's got the SBI so tight lipped about his whole operation. No more secrets." Cyran himself wasn't even going to look into it. But now he too was fed up with cycle of confusion going on.
